HDD – Album Sales Prediction : Aug 6-12

With 54.02% of reports now in, it is a Now-apalooza. There are no fewer than 4 “NOW” albums in the top 50. Leading the charge, and debuting in top spot, is NOW 43. It leads off with Idol’s Carly Rae Jepsen’s song of the summer, “Call Me Maybe”. The album also includes a track from each of UK XF’s S7 alumnis, One Direction and Cher Lloyd. XF US judge Demi Lovato and Voice Judge Adam Levine also have tracks.

The other “NOW” debuting this week is “NOW Party Anthems”. Why not? These things sell like hot cakes so expect even more “NOW” themes. In any event, turns out the reality shows can churn out the party anthems as well. American Idol’s Kelly Clarkson’s “Stronger” is on there and then there are the judges. Britney Spears represents XF US while both Adam Levine and Christina Aguilera represent the Voice. This album is at 25th.

Now 42 keeps chugging along (27). It’s lead-off track is from Idol’s Kelly Clarkson and it also has a UK XF One Direction ditty. Voice judge Adam Levine is also featured. Finally, there is NOW Country 5 (28), this time with Voice judge Blake Shelton. Where are you Cee Lo?

Last week’s chart topper, Rick Ross is currently in 2nd, Elle Varner has the top non-compilation debut and is in third. Justin Bieber and One Direction battle it out for the Tiger Beat demographic at 4th and 5th (while the Kidz Bop hovers in 7th). The Zac Brown Band are chilling at 6th, Adele doesn’t need no stinkin’ Olympics to be at 8th, Maroon 5 (featuring Voice judge Adam Levine) is 9th and fun., riding high with their second single after a car commercial introduced them to the world, is 10th.

Carrie Underwood is our top solo Idol at 12th, Phil has his Walmart album at 26th and Kelly is at 36th. Kelly also appears on Jason Aldean’s album at 33rd. The Sparkle Soundtrack features Jordin Sparks and is currently at 30th prior to the movie coming out. To prove Idol judges can chart, there is JLo at 42nd (hoping that she can still churn out those hits when she doesn’t have a weekly platform on Idol).
