HDD – Album Sales Prediction : May 13-19

With 46.22% of reports in, we have three albums debuting in the top 3. First up is Vampire Weekend. Now, I’m not the hippest person in the world, but I have usually heard of who is debuting on top. Vampire Weekend? No clue. Album soundtrack? Some fake band from the CW network? A couple of rabid Twilight fans? IDK. So, it is off to wiki I go. Wiki says: Alternative Rock Band. That covers a lot of sounds. Apparently, they formed at Columbia U back in 2006 and one of their previous singles was “Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa”. Totally missed it even though wiki tells me it was 67th best songs of 2007 according to Rolling Stone. In any event, Vampires are hot right now (maybe Idol needs to incorporate that into it’s name somehow…Vampire Idol…could work! It is a better idea than hiring Nicki, mark my words. LOL. Somebody just stake this Vampire phenomena – it’s gone on far too long) and Vampire Weekend is expected to sell 125K-135K

Demi Lovato is right behind in second. Demi, we know from her years on Disney and now as the only competent and appealing judge on the X-Factor US. George Strait has been around forever and he is in third. Fourth is the Great Gatsby soundtrack followed by Justin Timberlake’s “20/20 Experience”. Last week’s number one, Lady A, has shuffled down to 6th right in front of Now 46 (featuring Olly Murs, One Direction, and the new singing-show go-to song “Next to Me” – third week in a row, people). Amy Grant is debuting in 8th, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis are 9th and the Pistol Annies round out the top 10.

Fantasia leads the pack of reality singing show contestants at 30th followed by Kelly Clarkson and her Greatest Hits at 47th.
