Chris Colfer not only stars in the upcoming film, “Struck By Lightning”, but he wrote and produced it as well. The film will be released later this year, but you can watch the extended trailer now. (VIA E Online)
Chris plays a high school student, Carson Phillips, who is struck and killed by a bolt of lightning. The movie is a flashback of how Carson, an outsider at a small time high school, blackmails students to write for his literary magazine.
A kid with big dreams, he needs the credits to get into Northwestern University so he can realize his dream of becoming a big city journalist.
The trailer is peppered with funny one-liners, and has some poignant moments as well. And, there’s no singing, in case you were wondering!
The film co-stars Allison Janney as his mom, Rebel Wilson (Bridesmaids) the best friend who aids in the blackmail, and Modern Family’s Sarah Hyland as the bitchy cheerleader. Dermot Mulroney and Mad Men’s Christina Hendricks also co-star.
Brian Dannelly, who helmed the wonderful little 20o4 film, “Saved!” directs. The earlier film a religious satire which centered on high school kids coming of age at a Christian high school starred Mandy Moore and Macaulay Culkin.
I loved loved loved “Saved”, and I’m also a pretty big Chris Colfer stan so needless to say, I’m looking forward to “Struck By Lightening”.
