Congratulations to Bindi Irwin and her pro-partner, Derek Hough, who won the coveted Dancing with the Stars mirrorball trophy on Tuesday night’s season 21 finale.
The final 4 and their partners headed straight for New York City after the big show to appear Wednesday morning on Good Morning America’s big Ballroom Bash.
Of her Dancing with the Stars experience, 17 year old Bindi Irwin said, “It truly has changed my life. I feel like I’ve grown as a person. Not only have I learned all about the world of sequins and sparkles and high heels, but also to be blessed enough to work with this beautiful family. I feel like my family has just been extended even more than animals! Now I have this gorgeous family here. This experience will forever be a part of my life and live in my heart.”
Immediately after Bindi was crowned, runner-up, Nick Carter, declared the young contestant “deserved every bit” of her success. On GMA, he added, “This entire season has been something I’m going to remember. The friendships, the bonds that we have on this show, it’s unexplainable.”
Third place finisher, Alek Skarlatos, looked back on the incredible year he has had. His time on Dancing with the Stars has been “the craziest ride I’ve ever had in my life, but honestly so much fun!”
Carlos PenaVega, who finished in 4th place, remarked that competing against his wife, Alexa, in the competition actually strengthened their marriage.
All four couples played a movie trivia game that allowed them to show off their dance moves. The entire crew ended the dance party doing a little Nae Nae. Check out the full video right here.
