  1. Glad to see another step toward Danny’s official CD release date–just three weeks now.

  2. All is golden for Danny Gokey. So excited to see things falling into place for him. Love his management team! They are doing an awesome job.

  3. Will have to pick up MBD on iTunes. I hate loading CDs onto ITunes, this will be much easier.

I wish they would go ahead and make the formal announcement for Sugarland tour and which dates who will be opening. I saw 8 so far with Danny, but I want to wait until the full list is out to pick my best Concert!

  4. Just noticed that there is actually a bonus track called The Coach with the iTunes preorder :)
Hadn’t heard anything about that before.

  5. It is really great to see how well things are coming together for him. It makes me very happy. Indigobunting, I agree with you, I pre-ordered the CD but will also do the pre-order from iTunes so I don’t have to bother loading it.

  6. MJ-

Thanks sooo much for listing this! That is a decent price.

I also notice there is a bonus song on this listing! #11 called “The Coach”.
I know Danny had told a fan there would be 11 songs on the CD (whereas RCA only listed tracks for 10) so I’ve been waiting for this.

    Thanks again!

  7. That’s cool about the bonus track. I think that more fans will be buying it off Itunes now because of that and because $7.99 is a pretty good price for a CD.

  8. Great news and a great price. Going over to Itunes now to pre-order it. I had saved some money from my Itunes gift card just for Danny’s album and there is a bonus track which makes me happy. I buy most of my music on Itunes but did also pre-ordered on Amazon because I wanted to have a hard copy in addition to digital since it is his debut album.

  9. I don’t do iTunes, so I guess I’ll just buy it the day it’s released in the stores. I’m very happy for Danny that he’s getting airplay, his video is doing well on the country charts, and his management seems to be doing a great job in promoting him. Also, he’s going to be appearing with Sugarland in numerous locations.

  10. That price should help Danny with the preorders. When did it become available — at midnight?

I don’t like doing iTunes much, either, so I’ll also wait for the physical cd. I’m pretty sure the bonus track will be on it as well.

No one knows, lol! It isn’t even advertised on http://www.dannygokey.com or tweeted by Danny.

I guess MJ is the only one with the scoop! <3

Lol. Yes, thanks, mj!:-D. I guess Danny will catch up eventually as far as announcing it.

  12. Congrats to Danny for touring with Sugarland. They are a huge act in country and a great opportunity for Danny. This is one concert I will definately be going to.

  13. Touring with Sugarland? That’s major! Fine work, kid!

  14. Go Danny! Maybe he can salvage last season!
I heard he will be in Ft.Worth Texas on thursday.. Does anyone know the address or time. Id love to see him

  15. Sugarland is *amazing* – I would love to go see them, and catch Danny in the process. Good for him!

  16. You can see the radio stations Danny will be visiting here. http://www.dannygokey.com/events

Danny’s in Texas two days this week, at least. Sometimes the radio stations have something on their twitter or websites, or you’d have to call them to ask what’s planned. It varies at every stop. One station was tweeting this morning:

from @HawkeyeKSCS : Idol’s Danny Gokey is coming to KSCS this Thursday. Find out how to meet him this morning at 7:15 with the Dorsey Gang

There may also be an evening performance next week when Danny is going to be in Albuquerque, hosted by KRST, and I saw a tweet by a person who thought Danny would be doing a ‘concert @ Toby Keith’ bar in Mesa AZ on Feb 19.’

At the radio tour stops where Danny sings, he usually does at least 3 or 4 songs, sometimes 6 or more, plus a M&G. So it’s substantial, and worth attending when they have an open event, or if you can get a pass to one of the private sessions.

Last season doesn’t exactly need to be “salvaged” — Adam’s album just went gold and Kris is doing well touring overseas and will soon have a platinum single. Both guys are on several Billboard charts. Hopefully Danny will be able to do well, too.

Meanwhile, Danny tweeted about his album being on iTunes…

I would highly recommend going if you can swing it. Everyone who has raves how great they are and its a rare chance to get up close and personal with an artist. And Danny loves to meet his fans.

    Even the youngest, lol

Last season doesn’t exactly need to be “salvaged”

The poster probably meant “salvaged” as far as putting out music that they enjoy, not chart success.

I will definitely be attending a Sugarland concert this spring or summer!

What I really meant was I think Danny was the best fro
last year. Kris Allens CD has done terrible compared to past winner and Adam Lambert is on his 4th single already. His CD isn’t selling the way that people had projected. But I do like Allisons she is very talented, as is all of them haha

  20. Hopefully they will all do well and continue to grow their careers.

I’m even rooting for Megan, actually, once she gets her music out.

Just saw that Danny may have another date with Sugarland in Maryland, May 16th. Jake Owen is also slated to be there for that.

  21. Danny, Sugarland in Maryland – woohoo!! That’s my state – I’m definately going.

  22. No sign of Danny’s album on the iTunes chart yet. Does anyone remember if Allison’s album charted when it was made available for pre-sale? I know Adam’s and Kris’s did, although I forget how high they got…

  23. Damn you Gokey, as a true country fan I refuse to believe you are country! Did he even know who Sugarland was beforehand?

  24. StuYeWest

Adam is only on his 2nd single — not his 4th. And Kris is going to have a platinum single. Adam has a gold album. These really aren’t things to sneeze at.

I still have my doubts that Danny’s will sell even as well as Kris — have to wait and see. People keep telling me country fans don’t buy singles, and maybe that’s so, but I have to wonder if people will buy his album in big numbers when the single isn’t really selling. Since I’m not a country music fan and don’t know a lot about how that market works, I realize I could be totally off here. But so far, although he seems to be getting good notices from all the promotion he’s doing, and his song is in the Top 40 on the country chart, it hasn’t resulted into big sales. So Iit is hard for me to think that his album is going to sell alot.

But, as I say, this is just the feeling I have right now. And I could be totally wrong — I have been many times before.

  25. I have no predictions on sales. Hope Danny does well, but it’s been a weird year all around.

I guess I’m not a “true” country fan even though I’ve listened to it most of my life, since I also like Danny and like the music he’s putting out for his country CD — recognizing its not traditional country, of course. Hopefully Danny can find enough other “non-true” country fans plus his AI fans to make a decent career, lol.

Would certainly imagine Danny knows who Sugarland is, he was at the CMAs when they performed in November for one thing. (Looking really cute and happy to be there, aww – http://www.daylife.com/photo/0fmkbqf2jB5rI?q=danny+gokey.) And I would not be amazed if Jennifer and Kristian like Danny. They would not be the first country artists to say that. Notably Keith Urban (with Nicole), Rascal Flatts, Gretchen Wilson, Carrie Underwood, the guys from Lady A, and probably others I’m forgetting.

Here’s Gretchen, who met Danny at the Sound and Speed weekend events if not before. http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/47659

  26. Traditionally country has a smaller audience which naturally translates to smaller sales. Big sales are made with the crossover artists; Taylor, Carrie, etc. I think Danny will do really well with the sales of his CD and I believe that this number will increase with the tour dates with Sugarland. I will be adding the iTunes version of this CD to my collection, as well as a “hard copy” from Amazon.

  27. No sign of Danny’s album on the iTunes chart yet. Does anyone remember if Allison’s album charted when it was made available for pre-sale? I know Adam’s and Kris’s did, although I forget how high they got…

Danny’s album is currently #13 on the Itunes Country album chart and #130 on the overall albums chart on Itunes.

  28. That is a big coup for Danny if he goes on tour with Sugarland. I know that is going to be very good for Danny.

  29. Really happy for Danny. He has worked hard for this. Danny proved on the Idol tour this summer that playing live shows is one of his strengths. In as far as sales, Danny has performed at the level expected of a new artist. His video was just released 2 weeks ago. His album is not even out. They have not started the national promotion. And Danny has continued to increase in spins, and he has held steady on the charts.

  30. Danny’s album is currently #13 on the Itunes Country album chart and #130 on the overall albums chart on Itunes.

Glad to hear Danny is doing relatively well on the iTunes album charts. That’s a higher placement than he made when his single debuted, I think? I don’t remember exactly, but I think the single made it to ~#23 when it first came out. Danny’s album has also been faring pretty well among amazon.com country new releases, I read somewhere he was within the top 10 there earlier today.

  31. I think it’s a huge validation for a new artist like Danny when his record sends him out on tour with an established Country act like Sugarland. Danny has only been signed for about 6 mos. His album has not even been officially released yet. But Danny has worked really hard to establish his own identity outside of the AI bubble. I think he will do great on tour. The thing that Danny consistently got praised for from fans and critics during the AI tour was his ability to engage and connect with audiences.

  32. Wow Sugarland… good for Danny. This will be great exposure for him… very smart.

  33. That’s a higher placement than he made when his single debuted, I think? I don’t remember exactly, but I think the single made it to ~#23 when it first came out.

I think that Danny’s single did peak somewhere around #23/#24 on the Itunes Country singles chart. I am glad that Danny is #13 on the Itunes Country albums chart. I hope that he will continue to sell more CD’s on Itunes as well as other places like Amazon.

  34. And I would not be amazed if Jennifer and Kristian like Danny. They would not be the first country artists to say that. Notably Keith Urban (with Nicole), Rascal Flatts, Gretchen Wilson, Carrie Underwood, the guys from Lady A, and probably others I’m forgetting.

Randy Travis…but maybe he’s not a “true country fan.”

Anyway, I’m excited about Danny’s tour with Sugarland. Can’t wait to hear if they are coming around the Carolinas.

I haven’t ordered the album from itunes yet, but I will. Someone said that they thought that they could get that same bonus track buying the cd in the store. I’m not so sure. I remember some idols selling cds at several stores that each had a different bonus track. For instance, the cd at Walmart would come with a different bonus track than the one at Target. It seems like Elliott had about three different ones selling like that back in ’07.

  35. The only bonus track I’ve heard is with the iTunes preorder. If it was on all the other sources, they shouldn’t be able to call it a bonus anymore. They should give us one more extra song to be the real bonus, yes? Lol.

Eeps – yes, Randy Travis. Knew there was another big one I was forgetting. Almost forgot Carrie for some reason. Shouldn’t have, that was a really cute pic with Carrie and Danny posing together when she came to visit the AI tour (…which, of course, a lot of us guessed to be a big ol’ hint at the time what was happening for Danny’s record deal…).

  36. I’m not denying that the dude is talented or that country artists would find him to be talented. But as a country artist himself? I don’t buy it.

  37. I think Danny’s voice is a gift. I don’t think he has to be pegged into a category, but his voice might be a natural for a certain category. He has a rich voice. I’m so proud of him. He just wants to sing like all of the idols. I wish him the best. Danny can sing anything.

I super enjoyed him on the Idol tour. He was really good.

  38. I don’t buy it.

That’s fine. Not everyone is going to like or buy Danny’s music. But I will say that Danny has been very open about his background in gospel music, and his move into the country genre as being a place where he could make music that has meaning to him. Some people will like it and some people won’t. But hopefully for Danny and his fans (myself included), enough people will like and buy his music for him to sustain a career and keep making music.

I saw him perform a couple of months back at a “country club” in NC, and I can tell you that the regulars there appeared to have no problem accepting Danny. They seemed to really enjoy his music and some literally seemed in awe of his singing. He does sound awesome live! :)

  39. I think Danny’s going to open for someone who will then open for Sugarland. Who is Luke Bryan? I’m not sure if I got the name right. Looks like Danny will be with Sugarland in the Hartford area. Good exposure for Danny.

  40. I think Danny’s going to open for someone who will then open for Sugarland.

It is typical in country to have several acts together. They will rotate throughout the 55 city tour. We have 9 dates so far for Danny, and he is paired either with Luke Bryan, Jake Owens, Julianne Hough.

Should be a great experience and exposure for Danny; just need to find which one I want to see now that dates are rolling in.

  41. Wow, just heard about the Sugarland announcement! So awesome for Danny.

Will have to get ITunes now because of the bonus track.

    Go Gokey.
