Dancing with the Stars Season 9 – Top 10 Performance

The judges loosened up this week.   No scores below 21, and Donny Osmond got two tens. (I thought Donny looked more constipated than sexy, but maybe that’s just me.)   I thought the judges were tough on Natalie, and easy on Michael and Louie (neither of them can dance at all).

I suppose Kelly was bound to dance to one of her father’s tunes, but “Crazy Train” did not make a good backdrop to the fierce Paso.   Too bad Joanna slipped–her Tango was good.   But the best was Mya, who never misses a beat week after week.   If life were fair, she’d take the whole thing, but I think Donny is going to take it all.

That hustle with everone in costume was LOLtastic. Scary that Donny looked nearly like he did 30 years ago…

Going home tonight? Hm. Michael or Louie.

  1. Have a good flight! and dude, I thought you had come back to your house already.

Well good news, proof positive I’m not a stalker.

Anyhew, hope Aaron and Michael end up in the bottom two, yeah, I’m thinking that far ahead, but torn. I think Michael should go (barring an incredible improvement this week) for this horrible dancing. I think Aaron should go because he seems really douchey. But to be fair, Michael should go home before Aaron. Darn my being fair thing!

  2. These group dances are always a hot mess, and this one did not disappoint. Just LMAO.

The judges were being awfully generous with their scores later in the show. I actually thought they underscored Aaron & Karina this week, especially based on some of their later scores. He was really pretty good this week – rebounded well. Shrug.

I don’t know who’s going home. This week could be a “shocker,” depending on fanbase size. Glad I’m not in the pool.

  3. I’m a Donny fan at least for this week. :) He did great. I also loved the group number “The Hustle”.

Best part of The Hustle: the guys wigs and sideburns!!!! SO FUNNY!!!

  4. OMG- where’s my copy of Puppy Love? Still a fan after almost 40 years!

  5. I missed the first part of the show. :( It seemed like the judges were scoring on the high side for the ones I did see. Did they start out too high for the first couples and have no where to go but 9’s and 10’s?

  6. There were mistakes in the Group Dance, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Well, I love Disco music and dancing the Hustle…lol.

There were improvements this week, but I agree with Sarah that the scores were too high later in the show. Glad to see Mya and Dmitry get a “9” from Len. I do see Louie Vito going home even though I adore Chelsie. I rather see Michael go home, but he did better this week.

  7. Aaron was better, my only problem with him was too much looking in the audience not his partner, I’m surprised they didnt call him on that. And how cool it was to watch Kelly dancing to her fathers song, I liked it a lot at the beginning, she sometimes got a little lost but hung in there. Dimitry and Mya were on fire, they still knock her I dont know why, Len was awful nice tonite, I bet they got on them for their terrible comments last week. But again all of the dancers were pretty good. Maybe it was the Paso Doble and Argentine Tango, my favorite dances too. They all did a great job, so close.

  8. I thought Lacey and Mark were awesome this week, probably my fave of the night. Pretty much everyone stepped up their game in some way. For a change, it was fairly enjoyable all the way through. Maybe it was the magic of the Argentine Tango and the Paso, idk. Johanna was kind of a bitch to Maks. Poor Maks.

  9. OMG- where’s my copy of Puppy Love? Still a fan after almost 40 years!

Donny has been doing a great job. I do see him in the Finals. He is such a nice looking man and there is chemistry with Kym. Having established a friendship previously works to their advantage.

I also hope Mya and Dimitry will be there there too!

  10. Yeah, I agree that pretty much everyone was good. Some were great (Donny, Mark, Mya) Even the ones who have been struggling stepped it up, for the most part. Mark and Donny are my favorite of the men. They’re consistently given difficult choreography and they at least try to do something with it. Louie/Chelsie are adorable, yes, and I like them, but IMO, he’s not really improving. He’s just not doing much – Chelsie’s just dancing around him while he stands there.

I’m concerned that going first may spell trouble for Natalie & Alec. I like them, but they’ve generally been solid but forgettable. But I have no idea the size of the fanbases. That’s why I said the elimination this week could be a “shocker.”

  11. This was a close one. It’s cool how this season is so close in terms of the talent of so many of the stars. I really don’t know who will go home tonight.

Does anyone Aaron will go home tonight? Sure, he improved, but his score was still middling in a very close night in terms of scores. And he’s proven to have a small fanbase. Same with Joanna– I don’t think people like her– can the Derek lover votes keep her in?

  12. Even though I’m not a big Aaron fan, I, too, think they underscored him. Maybe since he was in the bottom two last week, he has to earn back his status near the top.

Mark and Lacey did a great job, and Michael and Anna stepped it up. Got a kick out of Ana T. telling Melissa to keep “the girls” up. heh. Nobody really tanked, so, yes, it will be interesting to see who goes.

I could watch Mya and Dmitry dance the whole night. Of course, I could watch Dmitry do just about anything; pound nails, eat cereal, scrub the tile in the shower…..

  13. Mya is amazing and Donnie is really close to amazing too. I have to say that they are consistently the standouts for me.

Kelly was completely overrated tonight. That routine was not even close in content and quality to others ranked lower.

Natalie’s heart was not in the group number and he contribution reflected that.

Who should go? The snowboard guy is the weakest link.

  14. Jayd, your comments made me laugh out loud!

I also enjoyed Lacey and Mark. He seems like a geniunely nice guy and IS improving each week.

  15. My favorite last night was Donnie but thought a lot of them did well. Mya is very good but leaves me cold as usual. I don’t know who I want to go home but I do hope Donnie, Kelly, Melissa, and Natalie are safe.

I loved the group song and their cheezy outfits/wigs. Too funny that Donnie was wearing what looked like a young Donnie wig.

  16. Kelly keeps getting very inflated scores. What’s the deal? She did a bad routine, poorly, last night. Her very first dance was pretty good, but the rest have been very sub-par, yet they keep giving her better scores than many other competitors. I couldn’t care less who her parents are and dancing to her dad’s song shouldn’t help her.

I also think Melissa is getting over-scored. And tonight, Mark was robbed.

The judges have been giving inflated scores (like 10’s!) when they are really not deserved. I’ve watched this show for many seasons and to me, there hasn’t been a 10-worthy performance, yet, on this season. I’m still enjoying the show, but the scoring has been a hot mess.

  17. Louie does a really good job on some of those latin routines. He has really good partnering skills and works well with Chelsie. I think his dancing last night was underrated. I love watching this couple (most nights … not so much last week, though). Hope he sticks around.

Aaron should go home. Even when he dances well, something bugs me about him. I like Michaal’s attitude, so I’d rather see him stay a little longer, even though he’s not much of a dancer.

And I just can’t tolerate any of those Osmond’s. Please tell me there aren’t any more waiting in the wings to dance on future seasons of DWTS. Please! Just make them GO AWAY!

  18. Forgot to ask…. did anyone else think they picked really sucky music last night? Some of the choices for the Paso were really awful. How do you dance a paso to some of the muzak they were playing?

  19. I do think the music was sucky – but I now have the biggest crush on Donny freakin Osmond, much to my surprise. He is charming, good looking, funny and can actually dance. What Bean said about Mya is how I feel, the girl can dance but thats where it begins and ends with me, I get no oomph from her nothing one way or another, she could stay or go, wouldnt care, do care about what they do to her face each week, making her look like a tranny with that makeup is hilarious each week – she has a pretty face keep all of that junk off of it. I hope Natalie stays, love Louis and Kelly but Louie needs to pick it up or he can go too, he just walks around Chelsea each week and that is getting old even though I do like the two of them. I think Aaron is getting a bad rap now, I dont see smarmy or cocky, just a kid trying very hard to please. The one I cannot stand is Joanna – ugh she and her lips can just go, I loved Mark and Lacey last night – thought they should have gotten better scores also.

  20. I can’t stand Aaron and would love to see him go sooner rather than later. To me, he was overpraised last night. He plodded around on completely flat feet and his attitude still sucks.

Louie and Chelsea did better last night but they might go tonight. I don’t think he has the largest fan base. Michael’s got the football fans and I think he’s the other most likely even though he did much better last night.

CRB, I completely agree with you about Natalie and the group dance. She really stuck out because she did so little during her solo. Overall though it was a lot of fun.

They’re sure going to be clearing the decks over the next few weeks! Four more couples in two weeks? They had too many contestants this season!

Can’t wait for tonight’s tribute by the pros.

  21. Grammie Kari – I think that Mark and Lacey could be a dark horse in this competition. He just has to let go a little more during the Latin stuff. I admire his work ethic and willingness to improve. The judges seem to notice this, and give him some really constructive comments.

    glad I made you laugh! : )

  22. And I just can’t tolerate any of those Osmond’s. Please tell me there aren’t any more waiting in the wings to dance on future seasons of DWTS.

Well, there are LOTS more Osmonds out there, but I predict we’ll see a Jackson next!!! I just hope it is one of the brothers and NOT LaToya! Oh, and all my votes went to Donny last night.

  23. Of course, I could watch Dmitry do just about anything; pound nails, eat cereal, scrub the tile in the shower’ ¦..

  24. Not seeing a results thread so I thought i would put this here. I really hope Alec and Natalie are not eliminated because he is awesome and I will miss seeing him dance if they are voted off. I hope he has a chance to do some performing with Edyta because they are great together. I also have to say the Michael Jackson tribute was awesome and say what you will about Derek Hough, he is a fantastic dancer. Really talented.

  25. I agree with others that Kelly and Melissa are being over-scored.
