Casey has been opening for Sugarland on select dates of the band’s North American tour.
“He’s a guitar-slinger blues guy and so the process is a little different than with Jennifer and me, ” said Kristian about co-writing with Casey, in a recent interview, “but I know about trying to find good melodies and I’ve been really trying to find out what’s going on in his life.”
Casey’s debut album is set to be released by Sony Nashville/BNA in the fall, with a single due by summer.
UPDATE: The name of the song is reportedly a ballad called “Hold On”.
There’s another account HERE.
“The sold-out crowd at the Tyson Events Center got a shot at creativity in the making Saturday night. As his last number, newcomer Casey James brought out Sugarland’s Kristian Bush and introduced a song they had written earlier in the day. Called “Hold On, ” it was so new James had to have someone hold a yellow legal pad with the song’s lyrics.
Basically a ballad, it took full advantage of his range and pointed in the direction where the “American Idol” finalist could be headed.
