Singer, Natalie Cole, got her panties all in a twist last night as she watched the American Idol finale. Jennifer Hudson was introduced as Candice Glover’s duet partner on a performance of “Inseparable,” without a mention that she originally recorded the 70s hit. She let loose with a couple of angry tweets:
Maybe Natalie was also pissed that Idol producers didn’t invite her to perform her gold certified hit with the eventual Idol winner.
According to Yahoo, the twitter responses were mostly anti-Natalie:
“Natalie should be ashamed of this and she should apologize for this,” Corey Wilson wrote in a post on Cole’s Facebook page. “No one said that JHud was the first person to record this it was Candice’s idol pick. She should be honored even thankful young people even know who she is. Sit down and take several seats.”
Various Twitter users stressed, “Relax,” “They can sing that song girl,” and “Adam Lambert didn’t originally record Titanium’ either, Sia did…and he sang that with Angie. It’s okay.”
Natalie should have been name checked in the introduction, but it’s much ado about nothing really. When itunes downloads for HER original song get a bump next week, she’ll be over it.
