Canadian Singer Botches the National Anthem (VIDEO)

Alexis Normand sang the American National Anthem in the 2013 Memorial Cup game in Saskatoon, Canada, between the Portland Winterhawks and the Halifax Mooseheads.

This might be the worst version of the Star Spangled Banner you’ve ever heard.

The singer, Canadian and had to learn the song for the performance. She must not have had much time to study, because she forgets most of the second half. The mostly Canadian audience is very understanding, even helping her out by singing along.

The performer, a jazz and folk singer, tweeted afterward, “I’m embarrassed and deeply sorry. I wish I’d had more time to learn the American anthem. Thanks so much for the crowd’s help!”

At one point she’s reduced to making sounds that kinda sorta sound like words. The camera pans players trying to stifle laughter.
