Big Brother 16 premieres next week, and the spoilers are coming fast and furious! First, host Julie Chen revealed some major Big Brother twists on today’s edition of The Talk.
- Two Houseguests will win “Head of Household” every week.
- Each HOH will have the responsibility of nominating two fellow houseguests for eviction.
- There will be 4 nominated Houseguests on the chopping block every week.
- Just because a Houseguest is HOH, does not mean they are safe thanks to a new competition, “Battle of the Block” which will dramatically shift the power in the house each week.
- There’s a new interactive twist called “Team America”
“When the Houseguests learn about the new twists, they will need to throw out any pre-existing strategy if they want to survive in the game,” said Allison Grodner, Executive Producer of BIG BROTHER. “The new Battle of the Block competition will shake up the power in the house like never before. A Houseguest can go from zero to hero, or vice versa, every week!”

Also, The Hollywood Reporter has the first look at the house, which has been completely retrofitted for High Definition cameras! Yes, BB will finally broadcast in High Def, like the rest of the world of television!
This year, the house will take on a cool, 60s retro theme. The inspiration is the New York City World’s Fair and maybe a little Mad Men?
According to the CBS press release:
This season, the BIG BROTHER Houseguests will live in a whimsical urban tree house-themed dwelling. The living room features a 20-foot-high wood tree sculpture, and wood panels that give the illusion of peering out into the world from inside the tree. The theme continues with the dining room’s branch-bound chairs and the kitchen’s butcher block island made from thick slabs of eucalyptus trees. Nestled above the living room is an actual tree house shack where the Houseguests can play chess. The Head of Household suite includes a giant bird’s nest for the bed and a wall lined with nearly 1,000 bird houses. Also, the bedrooms’ décor is based on the classical elements earth, wind and fire with the bathroom’s theme being water.
