Ben Higgins was sent packing by Kaitlyn Bristowe on last night’s The Bachelorette, but according to sources, the rejected suitor won’t be away from reality TV for long. The 26 year old will get his second chance at “love” on the upcoming season of The Bachelor.
Multiple insiders tell E! News that the Bachelorette’s 3rd place suitor will star in The Bachelor’s landmark 20th season this fall. Ben has not finalized his contract yet, but he is “pretty much a lock,” say sources. A last minute change could alter the casting, but sources are confident Ben is a go.
ABC does not comment on casting rumors.
The network does not plan to make an announcement regarding the new Bachelor at least until the current Bachelorette season is finished. (Instead, they’ll just leak the scoop to E! news to get buzz going for the upcoming season, which is likely what’s happening here.)
Kaitlyn sent Ben home last night after their fantasy suite date. Shawn B. and Nick are the two remaining finalists. Reportedly the runner-up was also in contention to be the next Bachelor, but producers felt Ben would attract more viewers. (In other words, the runner-up isn’t loved by viewers. Hm.)
