Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood have two nominations apiece for the American Music Awards, announced today.
Christina Aguilera, the first announced performer for the AMA Awards, joined producers to announce the nominations for the 40th annual show. The awards are set to air on November 18 on ABC.
Kelly is nominated for Favorite Female Artist Pop Rock and Favorite Female Artist Adult Contemporary. Her album, Stronger, was not nominated. (BOO). Carrie is nominated for Favorite Female Artist Country and Favorite Album – Country.
Simon Cowell’s boys, One Direction, has three nominations for New Artist of the Year (along with Carly Rae Jespen), Favorite Band, Duo or Group, Pop/Rock and Favorite Album Pop/Rock.
Adam Levine and Maroon 5 are nominated for Artist of the Year, Favorite Band Duo or Group, Pop./Rock and Favorite Album Pop/Rock.
And, finally, new American Idol judge, Nicki Minaj has 4 nominations: Favorite Female Artist Pop Rock, Favorite Album, Pop/Rock, Favorite Artist Rap/Hip Hop and Favorite Album Rap/Hip Hop
