American Idol’s Nick Fradiani Reveals Album Title (VIDEO)

Nick Fradiani, revealed the name of his long awaited post-Idol debut album  in a chat with with Boston radio personalities Gregg Daniels and Fast Freddy during a MIX 104.1 event last week. The American Idol season 14 winner, will release Hurricane in early August on 19/Big Machine Records.

The album title comes from a track on the album, “Hurricane,” co-written with Jason Mraz, Nancy Ann Natter, Michael Lee Natter, and Nick’s lead guitarist from his band Beach Avenue, Nick Abraham.

“I just want it to be August 5th,” Nick told Mix 104 regarding the release date of Hurricane, “Because I want everybody to hear the new stuff. I got to write on the whole album, every song.”  In all, the singer ended up writing 50 songs, which got narrowed down to an album’s worth, most of which were penned after last summer’s American Idol Live tour. The last of the recording was done in Los Angeles in January and February.

The influences Nick has cited lately include Justin Timberlake, Nick Jonas, and Justin Bieber. The sound of the album will run the gamut from the funky vibe of  “Get You Home” to something a little closer to Beach Avenue’s  folky “Coming Your Way.”

One song on the album, a piano ballad called “If I Didn’t Know You,” is co-written with  Paul Doucette (Matchbox 20).  Nick Fradiani Sr. plays piano on the tune, which was recorded in the same studio where Adele recorded “Someone Like You.”  We don’t have a live performance of that song. However, Nick has previewed several songs set to appear on the album at radio sponsored events across the country.

Check out live previews of the songs right here, including “Nobody Gets Me Like You Do,” “Love is Blind,” “Nothing to Lose,” and “Howl at the Moon.”
