American Idols Live – Sacramento, CA – 07/10/09

*Watch This Space for Updates*

2nd Update: More on Matt-gate HERE. Also, a bunch of peeps are in an uproar because Adam skipped the after show bus swarm last night, tweeting that he had a headache. Every year it’s the same deal, this Idol or that Idol is rude by the buses, and it’s always much ado about nothing. All these guys owe me for the price of my ticket is a good performance once they hit the stage.

Can someone tell me how to listen to the cell cast? Where do I go?
    Thx

Go to Rickey.org. Then click on Rickey.TV which is under the heading of Emergency Cellcaster needed for San Jose

  2. girlygirl Jul 10th, 2009 at 10:23 pm

Cell cast quality not great, but at least I can hear actual singing

I can hear singing best tonight but hate the clicking noise that I get.

  3. If you follow all 6 twitterers posted above, and keep refreshing your home page, you get a really diverse and funny view of the concert tonight. lol.

  4. I can hear singing best tonight but hate the clicking noise that I get.

Oh good I thought that was only happening to me.

    Megan actually sounded good.

  5. ^ yeah, pererau and kristen dont seem to be enjoying it so much. LOL.

  6. I posted a ton of Twitterers tonight, but my post got rejected (too many links?),

I think that the limit is five (more than the set limit, it goes into moderation). You have more than five links, break them up into multiple posts.

  7. I can’t wait to hear Kris’ replacement song. I am so thrilled for him that he doesn’t have to sing that sorry excuse for a song on stage anymore! Woooo! haha

  8. Woot! Kris is going to have a new song tonight? Possibly by the Killers? Woot! Whatever it is I’m sure he’ll Kill It! har har! “Human” possibly?

I’ll be checking in later. :)

  9. i have yet to see a video of megan’s performances—does anyone know of one???

  10. I’m listening to the cellcast.whcih is decent today….Lil sounds pretty good….

  11. pererau: Sitting at the piano, Scott comes up through a trap door. He sounds great! When he talks to the crowd he really connects.

For me, Scott has been the biggest surprise of this tour. Consistently good reviews and CONNECTING with the audience when he speaks?!?! I wasn’t impressed with his voice on the show, and he always drives me insane during interviews, so I find it really interesting that it all works on stage.

  12. bunch of tweets

SteveCarusoOh my…Lil singing Beyonce’s “Single Ladies.” You can imagine the reaction from this crowd…

pererauShe sounds a lot better on her 3rd song. Then she takes the dress off for song 4. BABY GOT BACK. Wow. Put the dress back on!

pererauHer voice is stronger than on the show, but I’m still not loving her. Lots of people up walking around during her set.

SteveCarusoLil gets a 3rd song. Alicia Keys. Fans love it…

pererauThe applause dies down as Lil comes on. She is wearing a dress and pants. Make up your mind, Lil.

  13. Anoop’s up! He sounds great on “Always on My Mind”\\Wondering if he’s bringing the creepy lion he “stole” on stage with him?

  14. SteveCarusoAnoop next. Big applause. Singing ballad, “Always on My Mind” women swooning…

  15. Awesome tweet

pererau Noop dogg comes up in a suit singing Always On My Mind. It’s enough to make this straight man swoon.

  16. Oddly, not much on twitter about Anoop. Usually he inspires a lot of tweets. He must be really good tonight.

  17. pererau tweets:

#A lady in a green shirt about 8 rows up is smashed and dancing around erratically. I vote her moat likely to fall off the balcony#.6 minutes ago from Reportage

    Cuz Anoop is rocking it!!!

  22. I have been having fun following the tweets. I’m trying to listen to Rickey, but it’s difficult after hearing the real thing! You get mostly the vocals in this cellcast, which is interesting.

  23. I know this show is in California because everyone is tweeting from the concert!! Ha! Luv it! Anoop is all over twitter!

Many tweets questions the glasses. I argee.

SteveCaruso: Anoop dons some black-rimmed glasses. Why? He’s got some very good stage presence. Women love him…

  24. MJ:

If this is in appropriate, sorry, just delete. I want to shout out to Candy at gossipcandy.com and say Happy Birthday! She loves AI too…. I love both of your blogs. Happy birthday to my sis Angie who is at this very concert tonight in CA!!!!!

  25. I decided that I will leave Rickey to people stronger than me. Probably will give in and sign on just for Adam —

but I will not get another headache for anyone else.

  26. Yup — Don’t know how long I’ll last. I do know just about when Adam comes on — approx. 9:23. Not that I make a point of noticing…

  27. SteveCaruso: Anoop’s got the whole arena rockin’!

Anoop killed en tonight — may tweets of Anoop being booed but it was people chanting Anoop, Anoop.

  30. Really good response to GOMM:

SteveCarusoMatt at piano playing “Georgia on My Mind.” Crowd delirious. Puts hat on. Kaitlin: “I’d date him.”

  31. My friend is at the concert and I’m on the phone with her. the sound is surprisingly good. Matt is singing Georgia and he is kicking ass.

  32. Since when does anoop pelvic thrust? ha ha adam teaching them already.

  33. As with every performance to date Matt’s GOMM is getting mostly positive reviews — but some not so good comments. I’m surprised because I love how he does this.

  34. pererau: Everyone seemed to love Georgia on My Mind. I thought it was just aaaight. I like him with the rock edge. And yet he loses me with song 3

What do you think … will Matt lose his universally panned last song before the end of the tour?

The first half goes SO fast. 1 hour, but still…there are 2 more hours in this concert!

  35. SteveCarusoMatt continues w/ hat & piano. Kaitlin: “He’s half Chris Martin, half Justin Timberlake”…

    Actually not a bad comparison.

SteveCarusoNow a duet w/ Megan & Lil…must be time for restroom break!

    That’s funny!

  36. SteveCarusoPiano duet w/ Matt & Scott. Scott also wears a fedora. This isn’t bad!

SteveCarusoNow a duet w/ Megan & Lil…must be time for restroom break!

  37. Matt does great with Hard to Handle and Georgia, but he seems to lose steam a bit with The Fray song.

    Intermission! Time for dinner!

  38. Luv this comment:

wooo!!! i had to lol at anoop pelvic thrusting. first danny, now anoop – it’s just a matter of time before sarver starts attempting to sex it up. NO!!

  39. wooo!!! i had to lol at anoop pelvic thrusting. first danny, now anoop – it’s just a matter of time before sarver starts attempting to sex it up. NO!!

Thanks for that image in my mind…I just ate.

  40. Sorry, but Anoop and pelvic thrust in the same sentence is disturbing, especially right after taking a gulp of soda…

  41. lizardino – posting this one just for you:

Ladies may love Anoop but he is just foreplay for Adam.

    Must be Friday night humor!!

  42. Rickey is being made fun of all over the place for “Granny”. I still don’t have any idea why he thinks it’s “cool”.

  43. Man i need to buy tix for the Chicago show so I can see Anoop, Matt, and Allison!!!!!

  44. Rickey’s trying to manufacture a bromance. And force it on people. But we aren’t buying it.

He doesn’t get it…you can’t manufacture bromances. They are organic — like Kradam.

Granny –not organic, NOT a bromance

  45. Must be Friday night humor!!

Q3 — I am truly HONORED by your special mention! LOL! Anoop is kind of preppy cute, but Adam is definitely more my type (I was once engaged to a guy who had a little of Adam’s look, only straight. My mom thought going for that type of guy was a phase–it wasn’t.)

  46. I also been hearing how Gokey is humping his mic stand. Any truth to that?

  47. Danny has been dancing with his mic stand. He was doing kind of a salsa thing with it in Tacoma. I don’t know if it’s progressed beyond that… ummmm. Another picture to cleanse from my mind.

  48. I also been hearing how Gokey is humping his mic stand. Any truth to that?

If that’s his performance level, I shudder.

  49. Aaron Spears (drummer) is mean! Just tweeted:

“aaronspears: Kris is doing the song by the Killers…It’s called…Yikes!! I’m late getting to the stage…Hit you later…”

  50. lizardino Jul 10th, 2009 at 11:33 pm

I completely understand lizardino, 4 of my exes were all built exactly like Adam (all 6’1″ to 6’3″) and 2 looked very similar to Adam.

  51. Ok, now the tour drummer (Aaron Spears) is playing with us.

    He just tweeted:

#Kris is doing the song by the Killers…It’s called…Yikes!! I’m late getting to the stage…Hit you later…#3 minutes ago from web

    LOL — what a tease

  52. @GlamGirlLee – yep Rickey is just filling time during intermission. Fun, huh?

  53. I have never listened to the cellcast. Is Rickey filling time now?

Yes. I guess you can say that. Oh geez Rickey is singing NB! lol

  54. So I take it that instead of counting number of songs or amount of stage time, we’ve now moved on to amount and quality of pelvic thrusting and humpage ….lol

Sounds like a good move for Kris to do a Killer’s song

  55. Pam Jul 10th, 2009 at 11:39 pm

Yes. I guess you can say that. Oh geez Rickey is singing NB! lol

LOL! He’s actually sounding OK…like a karakoe singer.

  56. Killers — must be “”Mr. Brightside” — and that sounds perfect for Kris.

  57. Thanks adamland. The sound is pretty good (not the song). No to NoBo!!!

  58. charlie_bearRT @bri4u: @adamlambert from the sounds of the audience… Sacramento can’t wait for you to hit the stage! Break a leg and rock Sacramento!

  59. Yay – intermission is over. Rickey was killing me with that singing of his…had to mute him

  60. i don’t know why but i love rickey. haha

I know what you mean. It’s kind of hard to explain. lol

    Allison is up now.

  61. sounds like allison is singing under water here. I can barely make out this song

  62. What in the hell happened to the good reception? Grrrr it has to sound like we’re underwater NOW

  63. The Killers aren’t a rumor anymore I don’t think. Drummer, Aaron Spears, confirmed it on twitter a few minutes ago.

  64. Oh, man, I can’t do the cellcast, I tried. I have a headache and headaches and cellcasts don’t mix. Will wait for YouTube! :) Can’t wait to hear what Kris’ new song is…

  65. Online concenses is that Kris will do an acoustic version of Mr. Brightside.

  66. I hope whichever song Kris sings that he is playing the electric guitar again.

  71. idoltourbenchesSomeone threw paper flowers on stage and allison said “I’m just glad that’s not a bra or thong”

    So. Funny.

idoltourbenchesCrybaby gave me serious chills. I think that’s the first time anyones done that for me this tour. So incredible

Just wait for about 20 minutes…

  72. Ok. I can’t do this. I was so happy re-listening/watching VC vids. This sounds like my computer is dying.

  73. idolbenches Someone threw paper flowers on stage and allison said “I’m just glad that’s not a bra or thong”

    ha ha

  74. Rickey has two different cellcasters tonight. Grrrrr….cellcaster #1 had better sound. Cellcaster #2 is not coming in well. Top four sounding like the underwater cast of the AI Experience.

  75. Ok. I can’t do this. I was so happy re-listening/watching VC vids. This sounds like my computer is dying.

    LMAO in total agreement.

  76. idoltourbenchesSomeone threw paper flowers on stage and allison said ‘I’m just glad that’s not a bra or thong’

Yeah, the girl was not amused last night. She was a little freaked (or should I say grossed) out I think!

  77. Did Allison finally sing the word “barracuda”? I thought I heard it after the second chorus. It’s kinda weird that she hasn’t been saying it.

  78. dhunken I hope you’re right because if he does an acoustic version of Mr. Brightside it will be so boring. There’s allready 1,000 versions on YouTube.

  79. SteveCarusoHere comes Danny. Crowd loves it. Woman next to me can’t stop & moving w/ the song…

  82. That guy Pererau is a hoot. He has a few tweets about a drunk woman whose seat is by his.

  83. Q3 Jul 10th, 2009 at 11:57 pm

dhunken I hope you’re right because if he does an acoustic version of Mr. Brightside it will be so boring. There’s allready 1,000 versions on YouTube.

I am with you 1,000 per cent. Please no more acoustic versions!

  84. dhunken I hope you’re right because if he does an acoustic version of Mr. Brightside it will be so boring. There’s already 1,000 versions on YouTube.

That is why I am pulling for Read my Mind. I think it is more in Kris’s style and not too many versions on Youtube. Plus my feeling is Kris has a unique sense of humor which singing something called Read my Mind would play into.

  85. Can’t wait until these concerts are happening in my time zone….I am becoming seriously sleep deprived.

  86. LisaE: Yeah, the girl was not amused last night. She was a little freaked (or should I say grossed) out I think!

What makes you say that? She looked like she was very amused by it all in the videos. And she had a laugh about it on her Twitter yesterday:

  88. JohnM: Just the way she has dealt with it. She reflexively kicked away the bra. She told people at the barricades last night that the underwear hit her boob and that she hopes it didn’t have crabs because she didn’t want crabs. Tonight, she was grateful people weren’t throwing underwear and bras at her… Just my impression. An experience for sure, but one I don’t think she’d care to have happen again.

    hahaha

  91. supposedly the first cell caster will be back for Adam and Kris

And now someone on the ontd_ai chit chat is trying to say Kris is going to do Wonderwall…not a song by The Killers

    huh?

  92. SteveCarusoDanny singing Rascal Flatts. All women around mer, including Kaitlin, swaying along…

I don’t think Donny knows who Carlos Santana is. He thinks it’s just the lyrics to the song, so he’s supposed to sing it…

  94. Danny is “talking” again and it is not going over very well — he should save it for Milwaulkie. But not for California! Sorry : )

  95. I’m really not a fan of this Barracuda song, not even when Heart sings it. Maybe once I see it live it will be different.

  98. Re Allison—– She kicked the bra to adam and laughed when panties were thrown —I really don’t think she was freaked I took it that she thought it was funny—-now if it cont to happen i can see her disliking it.

And did anyone else notice she does not say the word barracuda in her song or did i miss something??

  99. I guess Adam never expected to have a Christian preacher-want-a-be for a lead-in act. And Danny never expected to open for — OMG Adam!!!

  100. pererau: Danny just said “don’t let any tragedy define you.”. Is it just me, or is that the ultimate ironic statement?

    LOL!

  101. he has resumed the halty choppiness

Hehe, I don’t know why that phrase is so catchy…

dsp, I didn’t think she was saying “Barracuda” either in the videos I watched the other night. Granted, I’m way behind and way tired so I could be wrong but…

  102. I guess Adam never expected to have a Christian preacher-want-a-be for a lead-in act. And Danny never expected to open for ‘” OMG Adam!!

  117. dsp: And did anyone else notice she does not say the word barracuda in her song or did i miss something??

Yes, we’ve been discussing that at TWoP. Maybe you missed my post above — it sounded to me like she might have finally said it tonight at the end of the second chorus.

  118. SteveCaruso Adam is in full Adam glory. Nail polish, guy-liner, mascara, eye shadow. Buty, damn, this boy can perform…

  119. Adam is giving me chills and I’m just listening to him thru Rickey.org!!!!!! He is AMAZING

  120. SteveCaruso Women can’t get enough of him. They are enraptured…

  121. Cellcast seems to be doing a little bit better now. I was able to hear just about every word of Starlight. :wub_tb:

  122. pererauI always hated Adam live on Ai but loved his studios. He is rockin it live here, though. I’ll go to his concert when he’s a rock star.

  126. Even with the poor cellcast quality, Adam’s voice is amazing. Can hear Allison, too, on Slow Ride. Ah, it was worth the wait.

Spring 2009, I’m east coast, too. I know what you mean.

  127. SteveCaruso I’d pay a lot of money to see these two in concert together! Wait, I did pay a lot already!

Q3; Why do Kris fans like the nickname
    Pocket Idol?

  137. SteveCaruso Quite a contrat from Adam. Starts w/ his version of “Heartless,” Just him & his guitar. Kaitlin: “He’s hot.”

  138. pererau Adam left on a powerful note with the crowd going crazy, then Kris entered on a quiet note, which kinda broke the mood.

  140. SteveCaruso Interesting: they have a curtain in front of band foir Kris. Create illusion that it’s Kris acoustic?

  141. Rickey’s cellcast keeps cutting out — what the heck is Kris singing? Grrrr. It sounds like it is great.

  142. SteveCarusoInteresting: they have a curtain in front of band foir Kris. Create illusion that it’s Kris acoustic?

LOL — I find the curtain a bit odd. Why hide the band?

  143. This song All the Things That I’ve Done by the Killers is so much better for Kris and for the tone of his whole set.

  144. It sounds like Kris tried a singalong with The Killers song. I only know a few of their songs and not this one. Is it one of their better known songs?

  145. pererau I have a hard time watching his facial expressions when he sings. He looks like he is passing a kidney stone. Or giving birth. Or both.

  146. SteveCaruso Kris looks very comfortable performing. Not nervous, not shy. Now he’s at piano. “Ain’t No Sunshine.” Curtain raised on band…

  147. YES!!! I was hoping this was the song he would choose! My absolute favorite Killers song. I cannot wait to hear this live.

And from all tweeters, it sounds like Adam and Allison were at their most amazing yet apart and together. No surprise there. These guys are just so amazing, it continually blows my mind.

  148. I love that Matt is also following this random, but totally awesome, SteveCaruso!

MGiraudOfficial: This tweet about my set made me laugh @SteveCaruso Matt continues w/ hat & piano.Kaitlin: “He’s half Chris Martin, half Justin Timberlake”..

  149. SteveCaruso Definitely has star potential. I’d pay to see him in concert solo…

  150. pererau I have a hard time watching his facial expressions when he sings. He looks like he is passing a kidney stone. Or giving birth. Or both.

  151. idoltourbenchesI got soul but I’m not a soldier….

    Here’s the new tune!

MGiraudOfficialKris is out trying out the new tune..no more no boundaries..the new song is sounding great!

  152. It sounds like Kris tried a singalong with The Killers song. I only know a few of their songs and not this one. Is it one of their better known songs?

As much as any Killers songs are, yeah. I love them, but not sure how popular they are with the AI audience. Same with Muse, whom I also love.

But sounds like a good choice for Kris, upbeat, rocking. I’m sure he’ll kill on it. AND it’s not NoBo. FTW.

  153. I’m in South Carolina….it’s 12:30 here but I’m too hyped up to sleep just knowing that Adam is performing. Sure wish I could go to a concert:(

I’ll have to watch some youtube flicks before going to bed just to make sure I dream of Adam………This is a pathetic statement since I’m almost old enough to be Adam’s mom.

pererau I’ve heard that these concerts don’t sell out, but this place is packed!

  157. What does that mean “Kris lost the crowd” tweeted by Renee? and during what song?

perarau’s tweet—–HAHA must be from the view of a medical professional-his tweet pic is dressed in scrubs

  160. I have friends at the Sacramento concert and I think they have answered the question of “people leaving during Kris’ performance”. Some number of passionate Adam fans left after Adam finished to get positioned to get Adam’s autographs. Nothing to do with Kris at all.

My friends estimated it might be 200 to 300 people — all women — maybe more.

  167. Pererau: Drunk woman update: apparently she has kids here. Three or four preteens. Hopefully they are driving home.

    ROFLMAO

  168. Oddly, there are a number of tweets from people who liked NoBo and are disappointed it was replaced. Guess you can’t please everyone and there is no accounting for poor taste. JMO.

  169. hehe.. for some reasons I imagine all the other idols making fun of Kris that he had to sing No Boundaries..

  170. I’m glad Kris’s new song seems well-received. One of the reasons he won AI was because he is really good at picking songs that suit him, and then making them sound his own.

  171. mgk Jul 11th, 2009 at 12:47 am

Kris does make odd faces when he’s performing, but I find it endearing.

    Yup, ITA!!!!

  172. Q3- Yeah, some people seem to really love coronation songs! I remember the first season Kelly did not sing a moment like this and people were mad!

  173. Im also anxious to hear about this change Adam did on WLL. Something about beatboxing? Hmmm???

  174. No…that was a joke about beat boxing because the cell cast audio was so bad. Sorry!!!

  175. Im also anxious to hear about this change Adam did on WLL. Something about beatboxing? Hmmm???

I thought it was that the cellcast was going in and out and made it sound like beatboxing.

  176. If your song is anything like the video, you got it right. I love Adam, but you are my second idol. This kind of vibe fits right in after Adam. If you made the decison to ditch NB, let me tell you that you did the right thing. Go Kradam.

  177. AC – I have to admit have a love-hate relationship with NoBo myself — it’s a bit like finally breaking up with a really bad man — it’s the right thing to do but it still hurts!

Im also anxious to hear about this change Adam did on WLL. Something about beatboxing? Hmmm???

I was told he changed it a bit — but not anything about beatboxing. I need to make a couple of calls!

  178. ok i want pics and videos now and did kris change the killers version???

  179. Ohh LOL. my bad. cancel beatbox cancel beatbox

LOL. But he did make some vocal changes to WLL tonight. Nothing as radical as beatboxing, but he did do some change-ups.

  180. Q3- I know.. hehe.. I kinda (in a sick way) like NB but am totally glad that it seems like he never has to sing it again!

okay, now i’m truly excited to see them all tomorrow! just in time for Kris’s song change!

does anyone know if he opens the curtains before or after aint no sunshine?

Confirmed that Adam did change the improvised section AKA the “orgasmic break” tonight.

Word I’m getting is total concert was great Adam, Alison, Anoop!! and Kris were great. Matt and Lil uneven. And Danny would have been really good IF HE JUST KEPT HIS MOUTH SHUT.

Megan was gorgeous but not a good singer. All the rest did well.

  201. Man, Q3, you have serious sources! Love it.

Getting report that they still have sound problems and that they haven’t killed ‘bandzilla’ yet.

Unfortunately, I’ve never been to an arena concert where there wasn’t a bandzilla. I came to the conclusion awhile ago that arenas are for diehard fans (i.e. those that already know all the words.)

Also, there were issues again with the sound mix of the back-up singers and Adam. Urgh!

I wonder if Adam is aware of this. He seems like the type of person to address it immediately. It’s weird that it keeps happening. Is it only during the Bowie medley? The back-up singers do seem to have a pretty big role in that medley … maybe it’s supposed to be that way??

  202. OMG. I love The Killers. Kris? Awesome. Color me surprised. I guess I don’t know what his album will be like, either.

OMG. I love The Killers. Kris? Awesome. Color me surprised. I guess I don’t know what his album will be like, either.

Hey now, even I’m interested in this !

  209. “All These Things That I’ve Done” is one of my favorite Killers songs. I’m trying to imagine Kris having the right energy to pull it off, but maybe he’ll surprise me. I guess just the sheer joy at not having to sing NoBo should be enough to carry him through it.

  210. pererauIt is tight quarters in this line, and I think someone keeps grabbing my butt. That better be my wife. Or Anoop.

    ====
This dude is pretty funny. LOL.

  211. Adam mentioned the sound issues after the first concert. He said the band is too loud. It’s in one of the articles.

I think that they adjusted the sound mix on Starlight and MW after Portland. Now mayby they will fix the Bowie medley — shades of “Crying”.

  212. I am guessing yes because i’ve never been to a concert where people give standing ovations? haha.. they’re usually up already

    Lol! True.

  213. PJ, Kris really bristled that everyone labled him Jason Mraz, Jr. He said the only thing they had in common is that they are two white guys with guitars.

Yeah, I knew that. I just didn’t expect the Killers. Either way, I’m really looking forward to his album.

Who is Steve Caruso? Is he important?

  214. I don’t know Steve Caruso, or Kaitlin, but if she is ready to have Kris’ baby, she has good taste.

PJ, Kris really bristled that everyone labled him Jason Mraz, Jr. He said the only thing they had in common is that they are two white guys with guitars.

And now you know the big reason why Adam and Kris bonded (besides Kris not being homophobic and having a great sense of humor). Kradam actually do rock!

  216. BritanyJean

Adam Lambert was dead sexy. My mom and I almost died. And Kris Allen sang ‘Hey Jude’. Great night

  217. I’m on my phone on the way back from the concert. I have a video of Kris’s new song for all of you guys, and some videos of a couple other people. Unfortunately none of Adam because my video camera died righhht before he came on and I was too
mesmerized to remember that my normal camera had video capabilities. I have good pictures as well. When I get home I’ll send them to MJ and try to write a full recap. The highlight was definitely when Adam looked straight at my friend and I. :o

But overall Kris, Adam, Danny, and Anoop were my favorites.

I would have, had it not been on my Ipod already. :-)

  219. UPDATE: Kris Allen performed ‘All These Things That I’ve Done’ by the Killers, on electric guitar, in place of ‘No Boundaries’ .

Wow, this is great news. I’m so happy I won’t have to hear “No Boundaries” live next month. But I’m even happier Kris is doing a Killers song.

  220. Hey now, even I’m interested in this !

  221. Ok, who, other than me, just downloaded that Killer’s song?

waving hand – I just downloaded it a few minutes ago.

  222. I think people who really doubts the popularity of Danny and have a hard time to believe he has been so well received by the audience should buy a ticket and attend the concert in person, you’d then believe it even though the truth might disappoint you.

  223. Waiting for youtube videos. Anybody knows, where to go for the meet and greet and what time it starts? I am going on Sunday in San Jose, SUPER excited to see ADAM!

  224. ‘All These Things That I’ve Done’ is one of my favorite Killers songs. I’m trying to imagine Kris having the right energy to pull it off, but maybe he’ll surprise me. I guess just the sheer joy at not having to sing NoBo should be enough to carry him through it.

I thought the same way about Kris BEFORE I saw him in concert earlier this week — but let me tell you, this boy can really rock. He could definitely carry off this song.

  225. I think people who really doubts the popularity of Danny and have a hard time to believe he has been so well received by the audience should buy a ticket and attend the concert in person, you’d then believe it even though the truth might disappoint you.

I saw a dress rehearsal of Idol live. He has a nice enough voice. He runs out of breath and tends to use his throat rather than his diaphragm. My main problem with him is that he doesn’t seem to realize his shortcomings. Oh, and I hate his song choices. Sometimes, it’s all about song choice. I won’t see this live for months, so who knows?

  226. SteveCaruso Concert wrap-up: crowd favorites primarily Danny & Adam, but loved Anoop, Matt, Allison & Kris. Biggest surprise:Lil because of her new look

    Danny? really?

All this stuff about Danny’s standing O being for Adam is laughable. The Caruso dude clearly said that Danny had a standing “O” before he got to the last song….he said it was the first standing “o” of the night. He went on about DAnny’s stage presense and in his mind even Danny’s talking was well received.

OMG. Caro! *smooches* Just saw a Bama band but my friend from college quit two weeks ago and I didn’t know. They still rocked, though. Check out the Dexateens.

I’ll be checking them out but hey now, Kris just might, mighty might, pull this off !

  228. Anyone who doubts Kris’ energy level just needs to watch the Bright Lights video from Vancouver. After beating the cr*p out of a piano, he then runs across the stage, grabs an electric guitar, and flogs the cr*p out of it too.

He will hold up just fine in the Killer’s song, I am sure.

  229. I think it is clear that Danny is getting a great reception from the crowd. It also can be true that people are standing up for Danny but also in anticipation of Adam at the same time.

  230. I’ll be checking them out but hey now, Kris just might, mighty might, pull this off !

Well, warning. They are twangy punk, southern rock. LOL.

As for Kris, hell yeah! I’m all about the three that got signed this year. My top three got signed. First time ever!

  231. arcoarenaEven though the show is over @arcoarena. There is close to 1000 fans outside waiting for the idols to walk to their buses.

  232. pj – I understand you saw the dress rehearsal and you are certainly entitled to your opinion, and it’s fine with me that you do not like Danny. However, based on my observation in Vancouver his set was very done and well received. You could argue he might not be the best singer of the Top 4, but he is popular in concert and when a seemingly unbiased tweeter stated the fact “standing ovation for Danny. First of night”, there are people who simply refuse to accept this, that’s why I would suggest them to attend the concert in person. So far the first 4 concerts all indicate Danny’s one of the more popular idols.

Yeah, kokko, he did say “standing ovation for Danny. First of the night.” And then went on to say that the crowd favorites were Adam and Danny….so one really has to be stretching it (imo) to think that Danny’s standing ovation was for Adam. I wondered at first if the person was kidding, but then I figured since it was Danny, they probably weren’t. lol.

My take on it was that he was about to type the name of the song and realized he was running late to get on stage, and so he wrote “Yikes!! I’m late getting… “.
I doubt any band member would write anything bad about any of the Idols.. he also has them all on his twitter page..

  237. # idoltourbenches Oh hey, one last chance to scorn who? Jfc the crowd is cheering his nameless than 20 seconds ago from TwitterBerry

allysonbrianna Adam Lambert is not that nice, kind of stuck up.

  238. I listened to the cellcast and while the sound was not great Kris sounded GREAT on the new number! It sounded real high energy and the crowd was very loud throughout.

  239. @locracia: I am going to San Jose also! I hope I won’t be that “drunk lady”.

  240. Random crew guy just introduced us to the hair and makeup department. Thanks, but I want Anoop and Adam.

Very little fanfare for Michael. I wish I liked his singing better, because he was really nice and personable

RT @AwesomeGal1967: @pererau anytime ppl see you say anything about Adam your gonna get new followers. / ADAM, ADAM, ADAM. Anyone new yet?

apriljoiex Girls all got straight on bus. Adam tried to get on the wrong bus. LOL

  242. YESSS! I love The Killers and I love love love that song. “ive got soul but im not a soldier” is a fun sing along lyric too. and uh… Brandon Flowers (lead singer) has a penchant for funky fashion and eyeliner…. Kris must be drawn to those types ;)

does anyone know when the last minute floor seats usually go on sale? the day before or the day of? im gonna try to go to the tulsa show!!

  243. Nope, it’s not incorrectly labeled. That’s the Tacoma concert. It seems the poster of the video was at both concerts. The Vancouver medley was taken from a different angle
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-Gm4i4JjFE

    @Q3

Slightly O/T ‘” but here is (finally) a really good video of the Vancouver Bowie Medley. The beginning has some video ‘issues’ but really nice video of Adam for most of it.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZfYNlZH_P8

Note it is incorrectly labeled as Tacoma on YouTube

  244. But Danny, according to a lot of reports that I’ve seen has been very well received by the crowd. Trust me, after reading on the Internet, I was totally prepared for the worst. But it seems that Danny does have a lot of fans out there, and he is pleasing those fans.

Yes, Danny is consistently getting a good response from the audience. And the reports from Sacramento say he was #2 in applause only exceeded by Adam. And that is excluding the standing O/Adam anticipation.

  245. Nope, it’s not incorrectly labeled. That’s the Tacoma concert. It seems the poster of the video was at both concerts.

Sorry, it was posted on IDF with the correction by someone claiming to have filmed it. But it’s still a nice video.

  246. I just listened to Rickey’s cellcast for Anoop & Matt & “Beggin”. Rickey’s dancing during “My Prerogative” was hilarious. His pics & props are funny too. Matt posing with Tigger during “You Found Me”, LOL. I loved Matt’s “You Found Me”, BTW. It’s fun to hear the reaction of the crowd, makes me even more excited for my turn to see Anoop.

Anoop is really built for the big stage, his moves are so elegant and cool during “Beggin”, like James Bond. During “My Prerogative”, he’s so tall it makes it easy to see him gyrate even if you’re far away. I’ve seen the videos, it’s true! BTW, Anoop mentioned he worked with the same choreographer that did “Single Ladies”, so I think that’s where he picked up his new dance moves, which I love. :wub_tb:

I think the above person was on the second level?

  250. Poor Adam. That was nice of him to tweet — I don’t think that’s the first thing I would think of if I had a killer headache (or even the 2nd). He really does seem to be a lovely person.

  251. Adam has a headache. Tough it out son. Get out there and sign!!!!!! I kid, I kid.

  252. Another tweet from apriljolex the post-show:

#Matt brought Kris flowers. Kris busted up. Then Kris on bender kne faux proposed#11 minutes ago from txt

LOL – Kris is just goofy and cool all rolled into one. So is Matt, for that matter…

(PS – Evidently Katy Allen was at the show tonight)

  253. Just a warning about bad tweet info. There is a tweet that there were real sound problems and Adam sounded like Minnie Mouse. It is from someone who doesn’t like Adam — likes Danny, his dancing & preaching.

I will not get fooled again.

Hope it isn’t a migraine. I get them so bad I throw up if I move. And there is a concert Sat. and Sun nights.

  256. Sunn:

You can always get a band, you can’t hire yourself a voice. That’s why bands are defined by their lead singers’ ¦

    Amen…

  257. wow, Kris and Adam could totally be DJ’s if the music thing doesn’t work out. Kris even has his voice up out of the frog register, so it is easy to understand him.

  258. I’m streaming Top40 with Kris and Adam.
You can find the Live stream here:

    http://eradioportal.com/magic.asx

This is torture – not Adam and Kris (Adam is actually taking it to Ryan Seacrest a little, it’s funny) – but I now remember why I don’t listen to Top 40 radio. Ugh.

  259. I’m not a big fan of Danny’s, but I can’t argue that he’s not popular. He’s got a really strong response from the crowd at all of the tour dates so far. And he has a LOT of fans — otherwise there’s no way he would’ve finished 3rd on the show.

From what I can tell from the tweets, reviews and YouTube videos, the Top 4 are the most popular so far on tour (with Adam being the most popular)

By the way, the fake canned laughter on this American Top40 broadcast is really annoying…

I read on TWoP that someone is attempting to splice just the talking parts together and will post it soon. If I find it I will post a link over here.

  261. i’m so laughing… a listener requested Britney spear ‘Womanizer’ and Kris said that Adam should absolutly does a cover of it !!! LOL … Adam liked the joke and I think he called Kris ‘honey’,,, but i’m not sure

  262. Someone requested ‘womanizer’ by Britney Spears, and Kris told Adam that he should definitely put it on his album.

  263. Seems like allysonbrianna has some major butthurt going on. Maybe he’s “stuck up,” because he’s suffering from a headache? Just a thought.

Oh dear. That sounds all kinds of potentially uncomfortable for all involved.

  277. Sounds like things may not be happy in Idol land. Maybe that’s why Adam has a headache and wanted to ride on the girl’s bus.

    Boys can be so mean!!

  278. Reminder:

These tour threads get very very long, which is why I’m asking you all to keep it on topic.

I’m deleting all off-topic posts in thread, including the side discussion about rock stars and their instruments.

Matt faux pas… never let your ego get over your kindness…

  281. aww. i kinda feel bad for matt.

I kinda feel bad for the girl. I kinda feel mad at matt

  282. well, i don’t think matt knew it was from the little girl since the guy said something? and technically, he really is not his messenger?

just to defend matt a little since we don’t know the full story..

  283. pererau Matt said, ‘I’m not Adam’s messenger’ and moved on.

LIke it would have killed him to pick it up and hand it on. Ass.

  284. Matt didnt have to pick it up, thats right. But I have a feeling if that were Kris or Allison, they wouldnt have minded. Just bad luck it had to be Matt standing there.

  285. About Matt, the only thing I can figure is that he didn’t know it was from a little girl. But even so, that wasn’t very nice. I am very surprised, I didn’t think he was like that. I’m disappointed.

  286. Hopefully Matt will see the above tweet and get his message!

  287. I wish Danny had been the one standing there, he probably would have picked it up and given the little girl a hug to boot. (Yes, I really think so). I have loved seeing reports of the fan reaction to Danny. I think it is what he deserves. It sounds like all of them are getting lots of love from the fans and that makes me happy.

  288. i don’t think matt knew it was from the little girl since the guy said something

No matter who it was doesn’t change the fact that he could have been a good guy and said “sure no sweat” and instead chose to be a snark… but I guess he is new to all this, so maybe a hall pass this time but he only gets one from me.

  289. he did not talk to the girl like that, but he still could have given the letter to adam

  290. Someone said Danny does do that. He takes things people want to give to the idols to the busses.

“Even Danny takes gifts in and makes sure that they’re safe and he even delivers postcards to the other contestants”

  291. Matt didnt have to pick it up, thats right. But I have a feeling if that were Kris or Allison, they wouldnt have minded.

Then again, Matt probably gets his share of this and may be getting tired of it. If this is the case, it’s going to be a looonnnngggg tour for some of these guys! It’s hard to feel like the less beautiful sibling (the politically correct way of saying ugly stepsister) to a rockstar. Matt is popular, but compared to the hoopla around Adam, it must get a little old.

Me too. There are a lot of reports that Danny and Megan has taking letters and small gifts for other idols. And, Michael is going way beyond all the others in signing, getting things to other idols and talking to fans after the show.

  293. In the day of twitter one Matt Giraud will soon find out that what he casually says or says in a snarky way will quickly make the rounds and he will catch flak.

  294. yeah, i agree with lizardino.. even if you look at some of the tweets to matt, it’s to tell him to tell adam something.

they should have a total separate handler to get gifts or something

  295. Well they don’t call him Scorned Matt for nothing.

I haven’t heard anything about Scorned Matt – please enlighten me.

  298. edit: please don’t turn the discussion into a fan war

There is no way Matt said that to either the little girl or that guy. I read his tweets tonight and it is obvious he doesn’t like Matt. I’m assuming he was one of the Anoop fans that was angry because Matt was giving the save. There is nothing to support this. Matt has been nothing but sweet to everyone he has encountered. All reports are that Matt is a humble, funny, sweet guy. So sorry I don’t believe it.

  299. Oh and I read on Idol Forums tonight that Allison was very rude to a fan because the fan had the audicity to ask her to sign on another Idol’s picture. So are we suppose to believe that too?

  300. isisdagmar Jul 11th, 2009 at 3:52 am

Well this whole thing with Adam headache and fallout from it is harshing my Kris/Killers high. Stupid Twitter.

There’s ‘fallout’ on twitter because Adam has a headache? Wow, people really need to find hobbies.

This is why I will never go and stand by the buses to get an autograph. They have just put on a performance for you and now you demand an autograph or call them stuck-up if they don’t or can’t. They are people, not robots.

  301. One slightly off comment does not a bad person make. These idols are probably exhausted, are being mobbed by thousands, getting yelled out and photographed left and right. I say we should give them ALL a break. From all accounts they put on an amazing show and that’s what counts!

  302. There’s ‘fallout’ on twitter because Adam has a headache? Wow, people really need to find hobbies.

Isn’t Twitter all about not having a hobby or life?

  303. Yeah, I don’t believe any of it. I don’t think matt would do that. But, they had me for a minute.

  304. Am I alone in thinking that Matt’s reaction (if indeed this happened at all) would not be rude if he thought a grown man had tossed him a letter to give to Adam? A little girl is one thing, but that would be weird behavior from an adult.

But who knows if it’s even real.

  305. Methinks somebody is feeling the effects of Adam getting so much attention and being touted as a “superstar”. Tsk, tsk, Matt.

  306. LisaE One slightly off comment does not a bad person make. These idols are probably exhausted, are being mobbed by thousands, getting yelled out and photographed left and right. I say we should give them ALL a break. From all accounts they put on an amazing show and that’s what counts!

    I agree with you 100%

  307. Seriously, I don’t actually think poorly of Matt. Not even saying I believe it. But than I don’t think Adam is the devil for not signing autographs, so clearly I’m too soft.

  308. But who knows if it’s even real.

Yes, I believe that there are times when people make things up maliciously. I know they do. I hope it isn’t true.

  309. Dont go to sleep now fellas.
apriljoiex: The video for Kris Allen’s all these things I’ve done is good! It’s being uploaded to youtube now.

  310. I’m beginning to believe twitter is the devil.

Just because somebody tweets it, doesn’t make it true.

Plus, there are stories every year of this Idol or that Idol being rude by the buses. As far as I’m concerned, all the kids owe me for the price of my ticket is a great show.

  311. “Methinks somebody is feeling the effects of Adam getting so much attention and being touted as a ‘superstar’ . Tsk, tsk, Matt.”

I doubt it! Not everyone thinks the sun and moon rises and sets with Adam. Nor is everyone walking around being jealous of Adam. I don’t for a minute believe this ever happened.

  312. There’s ‘fallout’ on twitter because Adam has a headache? Wow, people really need to find hobbies.

You made me almost spit up my drink on my keyboard! LOL!

BTW, Matt just twittered that a bunch of the guys are sitting up front on the bus watching “Family Guy.” Ah, the exciting life of a traveling musician!

  313. I think it’s weird that fans think they are owed more than what the Idols give at the concert. There is no rule that says they have to meet, take pics or sign anything after the show. That’s totally their prerogative.

I also think it’s rude for a fan of one Idol to ask another Idol to give them gifts or messages or get them to come outside. These are people who have been thrust into a bright spotlight all of a sudden. It’s got to be unnerving and weird.

This marks my first post here! I have lurked for years but never felt compelled to post til now.

  314. Someone on Twitter is going to say something bad at some point during the tour about every single one of the idols….grain of salt.

  315. I’m beginning to believe twitter is the devil.

I have thought this for quite some time, there are times I can see the horns and tail… so bad me for besmirching Matt.

  316. I don’t believe that twitterer about Matt. I really don’t. I read some of that guy’s other tweets, he seems to want a lot of attention and those tweets sure got him some. It may have happened, but not like I think he said.

I just want to think the best of these kids, all of them.

  317. Regarding Matt’s comment about “Not being Adam’s messanger” I was there when the guy told Matt about the letter…at the time Matt was surrounded by people taking pictures and was signing autographs and was already well past the point of where he could pick up the note and then “deliver” it to Adam. Matt was exttremely gracious and just indicated that he was kinda in the middle of something!!! In my opinion it was extremely rude for the guy to ask Matt to pick up this envelope off the floor and deliver it to Adam like he was his assistant or something. Plenty of people would have been upset if Matt just shot up and left in the middle of greeting his fans. I was also there and I did NOT see any little girl drop a letter…..I did see a “hello Kitty” type of envelope…but no girl to show for it.

What I am upset about this evening is of course that Adam did not bother to come out and sign. We were all in shock, but to be fair there were a ridiculous amount of people out there tonight. I don’t think he could have gone though 1/10th of the crowd before they had to leave.

  318. I could almost believe matt said that. But, so? him snubbing one fan is worse than Adam snubbing them all?

I like Matt, and I like Adam. But I could totally see Matt being jealous. I’ve seen his face occasionally, when he’s adam watching from the risers. You can see a tinge of jealousy. I think it’s perfectly understandable. Some viewers tend to think of it as the Adam Lambert Tour Featuring Some Other People, I Forget Their Names. It must get really tiring. And Matt is human. Capable of human emotions. Like you wouldn’t be jealous!! You go outside to greet fans, only to be pelted by a letter for someone else– someone who didn’t even bother to sign autographs (this is me thinking as a jealous idol). As big of person as you are, as gracious as you try to be, it’s got to wear you down eventually. Always being overshadowed by someone, being someone’s second or third fave- after adam, of course! Adam, handed down from God himself… Like it wouldn’t get old. And like someone said, technically, they don’t have an obligation to be nice or even sign. You paid for a show, they gave you the show, what else do you want? gosh.

I would be embarrassed if I came out, thinking, ahhhh all these people! Here to see me! Oh, what? no? you.. just.. want to see adam.. and.. use me… as a messenger… no.. it’s cool… want my autograph? no? what if I sign adam….

    (sorry if this is tl;dr)

    Exactly the way I feel.

  320. Plus, there are stories every year of this Idol or that Idol being rude by the buses. As far as I’m concerned, all the kids owe me for the price of my ticket is a great show

This. Totally this. But to paraphrase one of the Tweets to Adam, ‘we made you, so you owe it to meet us.’ Which no. He owes you a good show. Did he put a good one on? Well there you go.

Yes, AI fans can be loyal, the flipside is that they can also act entitled. I guess it all evens out.

  321. Adam didn’t “bother to come out” because he had a killer headache. That is what he tweeted.

  322. Adam also tweeted that he was sorry and had a killer headache. He’s signed all the other nights after the show, right? Seeing the videos and pics of him signing at the other stops, seemed very gracious to me considering people were screaming right in his face.

  323. An Adam fan had posted that she had given something to Danny to give to Adam, and he had no problem with that. Regardless how busy Matt was, he could have said, “I’m sorry, can you ask one of the handlers?” instead of his response. I still say tsk tsk Matt.

  324. kimeber Jul 11th, 2009 at 4:13 am

Are you aware that Adam tweeted an apology for not being able to sign autographs and that he has a killer headache?

  325. idk how to quote.. so…

    HannaB4
“Adam didn’t ‘bother to come out’ because he had a killer headache. That is what he tweeted.”

Yes. And I’m sure all the other idols were feeling at the top of their game after many hours of rehearsal and performing. I’m sure the screeches of teens was absolutely mellifluous to their worn out beaten eardrums. I’m sure their feet weren’t killing them and they all were impervious to the stresses of tour…

I bet they were all frikken tired, with pounding headaches and really didn’t want to get a cramp in their hand signing for fans… (but they did, but they did, but they did, and the fans thaannked them)

  326. “Regarding Matt’s comment about ‘Not being Adam’s messanger’ I was there when the guy told Matt about the letter’ ¦at the time Matt was surrounded by people taking pictures and was signing autographs and was already well past the point of where he could pick up the note and then ‘deliver’ it to Adam. I knew there was more to the story. No way would Matt ever be rude to the fans. He loves the fans and there has been no other reports of him being rude so why would this one be true? He is out with the fans every night both before and after the show and he is always twittering about how great the fans are. No way was he rude or mean to this guy. Fans have been raving about how sweet and gracious Matt is at the buses. Nope it didn’t happen! He has even tweeted people who expressed disappointment they were unable to meet him apologizing to them.

  327. I bet they were all frikken tired, with pounding headaches and really didn’t want to get a cramp in their hand signing for fans’ ¦

Well, actually, hopefully they didn’t all have “pounding headaches.” They’d all be deaf before the end of tour if they got such headaches after every concert.

Sometimes people get horrible headaches. That’s a pretty clear fact of life. Doesn’t make them jerks. And as for people being rude on twitter: if one of these performers tweeted that they were really sorry that they couldn’t sign autographs but they had just found out that their grandmother died and they had to rush off to be with family, there would be people tweeting at them, “It’s so selfish to put personal stuff above your fans who have made you what you are.” People can be crazy.

And yes, people on twitter will say anything. By all reports, all these guys have been very gracious with their fans.

  328. Sometimes people get horrible headaches. That’s a pretty clear fact of life. Doesn’t make them jerks.

I guess it does if you’re Adam Lambert, you’re not allowed to be feeling sick. Give your heart out on the stage for a performance, but skip one what…10 minute line because you’ve got a killer headache and I guess you’re the devil.

  329. Adam does get the loudest screams, so I can understand why he might get a headache over any of the others. That’s probably why he is always touching his monitor.

    Headaches =/= deafness.

I didn’t say Adam was a jerk. Too me, it feels like the idols have to go ABOVE and BEYOND to even be just slightly below Adam in the eyes of fans. Not saying Adam gets leeway, but I almost feel like some of the other idols feel pressured to be nicer, more gracious, more accessible, to come even close to Adam.

idk. If Danny said, hey guys, got a headache, sorrry i couldn’t sign. Everyone in the world would be like “suck it up!”

  331. Back to happy place and shunning Twitter, a Kris fan is going to be uploading Kris’s new song soon. Excellent.

  332. I get it now. A local radio station here is covering the American Top 40 show…That’s quite, well, surprising. I thought it would come from a US radio station. My bad. Lol! I was shock when I heard “Mabuhay Miles,” “Rico Blanco,” and “Magic 89.9.” Heh.

  333. BestAI Jul 11th, 2009 at 4:27 am

Adam does get the loudest screams, so I can understand why he might get a headache over any of the others. That’s probably why he is always touching his monitor.

Plus they keep reporting that there are ongoing sound mixing problems and those affect what comes through the ear monitors. Adam has complained that the band comes through too loudly. I know I would have a headache, too.

  334. It’s 1 something a.m., and I just got back from the concert! It’s a long drive for me.

My wrists are sore from clapping, and I have no voice from screaming. I let out some pretty loud woops for Allison. She’s amazing. Loved Barracuda especially. But when Adam showed up, it was full tilt. I couldn’t believe myself. I was so excited and awestruck. I’m so sorry Adam has a headache. You couldn’t tell by that performance. I’m an Adam fan and was expecting to be amazed, but it was beyond amazing. Words truly escape me at the moment. I want to add that Kris is also very talented, but I had a hard time taking anything else in after Adam’s performance. I think I just wasn’t ready to let go of it if that makes sense. It’s late.

My daughter who does not watch AI, loved Adam, Kris and Allison. She also enjoyed some other performances. She has vids and photos. I hope she gets them to me by tomorrow a.m. so I can share, but it’s out of my control so can’t guarantee it. My camera failed.

My daughter said she may write a recap and I’ll attempt one in the a.m.

  335. OK. Just got back from the concert because I was one of those crazy people standing around after the show. I’m so worn out. Got there 6 hours before the concert even started. Its been a long day.

Hopefully I can stay awake to read through some of the comments here.

mj be on the lookout for my e-mail. :smile2_tb:

  336. I think that Adam did a smart thing retiring to the bus if he was feeling terrible. We all have to know our own limitations. I know that personally I can power through a certain level of not feeling well and still put on a happy face to take care of business, but there comes a point where it’s just better for all concerned if I make myself scarce, and he probably knows the same about himself. I hope he doesn’t make a habit of not greeting the fans because of course there are a lot of people who are dreaming of having even a brief moment with him, and people like to see their idols being kind to fans. I’m sure he understands that. I am convinced that he is a person who is very appreciative of what his fans have done for him, so I think he deserves the benefit of any doubt.

  337. I could totally see Matt being jealous. I’ve seen his face occasionally, when he’s adam watching from the risers.

I agree. Just a personal observation, but I have seen that face in Matt ever since Adam was performing Satisfaction for the second time at the 2nd group results show, everyone was smiling and dancing along Adam’s song, except for Matt. I wasn’t even a big Adam fan then, but I remember perceiving that as something very rude from him.

So, who knows? I don’t really care, but, as well as with the booing stories, I still won’t believe something that only 1 person from twitter has confirmed.

I just hope this headache thing never happens again on the tour. Both for Adam’s well-being and his reputation with fans.

Yes, I know most of his fans, including me, won’t care; but still, you don’t wanna break a couple of loyal hearts in the process. It’s about marketing after all! 1 unhappy client makes you loose 10 potential clients. It happens with any kind of business.

Anyway, can’t wait for some videos from tonight! Thanks to everyone who took the time to tweet about the show, those tidbits are priceless.

  338. It’s 4:30am. I need to go to bed. But The Killers is my favorite band in the entire world. Everyone saying Kris did ’em proud. I am skeptical. Must watch. but must sleep.

  339. while it’s true im more likely to give adam the benefit of the doubt because i love him, i really do feel for him and think he has been NOTHING but gracious and giving to fans at every other tour date/hometown visit/press appearance. i can imagine that the level of energy he puts into his performance (which, as MJ said, is all they owe us) and the amount of screaming he gets can do a number on his head. plus, he has said he is basically surviving on water, greens and rice. i dont think he is eating enough in trying to drop the idol weight which would definitely cause headaches.

also… adam just called a fan on AT40 and is chatting with her…SOOO cute.

  340. I think that Adam did a smart thing retiring to the bus if he was feeling terrible. We all have to know our own limitations. Yes. Cause had he signed with that headache.. who knows what could have happened. It could have… gotten slightly worse!

If there wasn’t another show tonight and tomorrow night Adam probably would have signed some but his handlers probably insisted that the Saturday night performance was more important.

  342. Oh, they’ll get over it..he didnt show up for signage, big deal..Next stop San Francisco!!!!!

    Any videos?

  343. Guess what…none of us know MATT, KRIS, ADAM etc. etc.

The Matt’s of this world (he may have moments of brilliance but he is very uneven) are always going to be jealous…Someone said Matt took Kris flowers? Jealous of that too?

Yeah, its probably galling to be asked to do a favor for another idol but as one reviewer said “for most of the Idols this is probably as good as it’s gonna get”.

Kris, Adam, Danny and Allison are the stars of the show and anyone else along for the ride should be a happy camper!

  344. plus, he has said he is basically surviving on water, greens and rice. i dont think he is eating enough in trying to drop the idol weight which would definitely cause headaches.

Yeah, I thought about this. Boy NEEDS to eat….he’s NOT fat.

  345. [SIGH!!] I have read so many comments (various sites) over the last couple of days that are so fanatical – frenzied, even – that it’s starting to creep me out. The Twitter fallout (and I’ve only seen the few that were quoted here) re: Adam/headache is the crowning glory to the creep-a-thon.

    mj
As far as I’m concerned, all the kids owe me for the price of my ticket is a great show.

    *ITA*. Absolutely.

  346. I don’t really understand the temperament of the fans this season. Or maybe it’s always been this way but we didn’t know about it because Twitter wasn’t as popular and the Idols didn’t tweet. There were many, many instances last season when some of the Idols didn’t come out to sign or take pics; after a bad incident in Columbus, Cook never came out after the shows again. I have to think it’s fair-weather fans that will be hateful when/if that happens this season. I hope people will understand that Adam, Kris and Allison are working on their albums along with doing this tour and interviews. I’d rather they skip a bus signing than end up too ill to perform at a concert.

  347. Too me, it feels like the idols have to go ABOVE and BEYOND to even be just slightly below Adam in the eyes of fans.

Probably some fans are like that. There also seem to be some fans who take the slightest sign of Adam (or any of the others) not bending over backwards to please their fans as a sign of “OMG DIVA!”

Personally, whether it’s Danny or Adam or anyone else, if they have a horrible headache, then IMO they aren’t obligated to deal with screaming fans. I’d be really disappointed if I didn’t get an autograph in that situation, but I wouldn’t be angry at the person in question. As MJ said, all these guys owe me is a great show for my money.

  348. Just watched Kris’ All These Things…. it was okay. And this is coming from a diehard the Killers fan. So that’s like.. a “fantastic” if I was just a viewer.

Idk if he should have done that song. Seeing the Killers do that song in concert is an experience. The song becomes like, 7 minutes and it becomes so grandeur and amazing, and seriously, you almost weep when you hear the lead singer, brandon, softly say for the first time “I got soul but I’m not a soldier.” I don’t know. Huge The Killers fan and that is a huge the Killers song.

he did well though. hopefully he switches it up for the tour.. right now.. he is very.. guy playing it on the guitar, and signing it exactly how it is. And hopefully he gets all the lyrics right next time.

  349. wow, kris did a GREAT job on the new song! although that screamer kinda gave me a headache.

*runs to tweet about killer headache…*

  350. Probably some fans are like that. There also seem to be some fans who take the slightest sign of Adam (or any of the others) not bending over backwards to please their fans as a sign of ‘OMG DIVA!’

That is a very good point, isis. I concede that to be true. I suppose it goes both ways. Any Adam slight– he’s the worst guy in the world, but to some fans, Adam can do no wrong. People are crazy.

I’m not saying Adam has any obligation to sign- headache or not. But people will be pisssssssssssssed. I was just comparing it to Matt. If Matt’s a bad person for refusing to act as postman, than Adam is too.

they’re all human. even though we like to elevate them or degrade them as though they are not…

  351. I think Kris did a great job too! I just wished they pulled back the curtains!

  352. kimeber Jul 11th, 2009 at 4:13 am
“What I am upset about this evening is of course that Adam did not bother to come out and sign. We were all in shock, but to be fair there were a ridiculous amount of people out there tonight. I don’t think he could have gone though 1/10th of the crowd before they had to leave.”

Are you aware that Adam tweeted an apology for not being able to sign autographs and that he has a killer headache?”

Yes, now I know and I Accept!!! (I thought he left because of time constraints and the size of the crowd). It was obvious he didn’t feel well tonight…His performace was great but not as enthusiastic as the Portland performance. That show he was just plain giddy.

  353. I was at the show tonight and I have to say that Kris rocked Sacramento with the Killers song. The oxygen sucking black hole of NoBo was filled with people on their feet singing along and rocking out. Fabulous. My daughter, who was not much of an AI fan before the concert, came home and was checking to see if we could find closer seats at Saturday’s or Sunday’s concert.

I went to the show with the idea that I was going to give them all some love (well, a lot to Adam) regardless of how well they did. I have to say that I was surprised at how much I enjoyed all of the idols. Danny really did sound great and he really did get his very own standing O from nearly everyone there. His ‘preachy’ part was in between the 3rd and 4th song and it was pretty brief.

In fact, my biggest issue was that they rushed each new singer in before the exiting one could acknowledge their applause. We were still applauding one set when the next singer started. This may be what has led to some of the confusion. I know they are on a tight schedule but geez…

  354. @aek

“plus, he has said he is basically surviving on water, greens and rice. i dont think he is eating enough in trying to drop the idol weight which would definitely cause headaches.

Yeah, I thought about this. Boy NEEDS to eat’ ¦.he’s NOT fat.”

Actually, this came to mind as well. I read in one article that water, greens and fiber bread are the only type of food he consumes. Plus the sound system problem could also contribute the headache. Imagine how unbalance you will be if you hear sudden burst of noise. His killer schedule is another thing. I wouldn’t be shock if he gets sick and hospitalized because of all these. Anyway, let’s just extend a little bit of understanding on this matter. I fully understand that everybody is excited but there will be another chance to meet him. :-)

    Peace!!!!

  355. FYI, they are not playing in SF. It is more or less central to Sac (the furthest), Oakland (closest) and San Jose. After their SJ show, they are flying to Utah. They had flown into SF airport from Vancouver, and must have taken limos into the city.

Anyway, I hope Adam is fully recovered by tomorrow night. I still think he needs better ear monitors since the audience gets crazy screaming. I hope I don’t do that because I want to thoroughly enjoy Adam.

  356. His job is to sing LIVE no lip synching because he has colds, during the Live Concert and Sing well. He knows his physical limitations and if he is like coming down with the flu or any virus and just cant sign anymore requests, we should give the guy the benefit of the doubt.

He has been accommodating and quite a happy camper these past months. Plus you probably saw some of the photos where he did sign autographs before this show and also after this show but just inside a building . It must be cooler now and if he has a head cold. Not good for singing tomorrow.

Hopefully he did not pick up any virus somewhere.

And he did apologize . I think that is just good manners to let everyone know why he could not stay up outside in the open night air.

Was not intending to post anything today. But somehow some perception gets kind of off and hopefully , these are just temporary overzealousness.

Best to just wish hot chicken soup for Adam. Or whatever his mom gives him if he has a headache or head colds.
Hopefully Kris is a good cook as I recall a red apron photo somewhere ?

Thank you so much! I don’t know this song or The Killers (so sue me – I’m old), but this song kicks the crap out of that POS NoBo. I think it’s a great choice for Kris and the momentum holder he needed in his set. Bravo, sweet Pocket Idol, bravo!

  358. It would be unfair for me to judge Kris based on this vid, the sound quality is not very good. Hopefully better videos will emerge.

Thank you to whomever uploaded though, the visual quality was quite good. Thanx.

  359. I’m all for bringing it back to the actual *show* … Thank you Kris for performing a new song tonight!! I watched it, and since I have no point of reference for comparing it with The Killers, I have to say that I thought it sounded pretty good. IMO, for a non-rocking guy with not much of a rock voice, Kris has put a surprising amount of rock into his set on tour. I wonder if he feels the need to put in so much to bring high energy to his set, or if that’s really a style he likes and will showcase on a solo tour.

Seeing the Killers do that song in concert is an experience. The song becomes like, 7 minutes and it becomes so grandeur and amazing

Now, I’m interested! I love epic songs. I’ll have to check out a live version by The Killers.

  360. I’m not saying Adam has any obligation to sign- headache or not. But people will be pisssssssssssssed. I was just comparing it to Matt. If Matt’s a bad person for refusing to act as postman, than Adam is too.

they’re all human. even though we like to elevate them or degrade them as though they are not’ ¦

Aren’t we saying the same thing then? I’m saying that these guys don’t have any obligation to deal with fans–they just owe fans a good show for their money. It’s a good thing to sign when you feel able, but when you have a terrible headache or feel otherwise horrible or something (whether you’re Adam or any of the others), then you don’t have to. And getting annoyed at these guys because someone on twitter says they said/did something less than polite is silly–it’s twitter, people can/will say anything.

So, I don’t think that Matt is a bad person, if that thing was even real, and I don’t think that Adam did anything wrong either, and I fully agree that they are all human. I thought you were saying that Adam was rude not to sign stuff even with a headache, which I disagreed with–I get terrible headaches sometimes, and they can be borderline incapacitating. If you weren’t saying that, then never mind.

  361. And I have to say, I might not understand it, but Gokey seems genuinely popular and it seems that a lot of people are being touched by his stories and stuff. While I might hate his preaching and don’t feel anything when he talks about his wife, but a desire to roll my eyes, but that’s just me. I’m not going to deny that he does seem to be doing reallly well with the AI audience.

  362. @ adamland
“If there wasn’t another show tonight and tomorrow night Adam probably would have signed some but his handlers probably insisted that the Saturday night performance was more important.”

Agree with you on this. I don’t think Adam would deliberately skip the autograph signing portion just because he wants to. Of course, he forced himself to appear among the fans but can’t smile properly – imagine what fans will say about it. I think that would have been a bigger concern.

  363. I met my favorite Kris. Granted, it was somewhat awkward (My nephew told me to tell Kris that he was delicious, I told Kris my nephew said that and he was like “Ah” with the eyebrows raised, you know like a little awkward laugh), but I got his autograph and I can die happy. His new song was very catchy. The soldier part.

Meeting them was so much fun. I got Megan to do her bird call without hesitation, it was the most awesome thing ever. First celebrity autograph of my life, too. I sang Single Ladies with Lil, that was fun until I forgot the words and she laughed lol. I took a picture with Allison and my mom introduced me as her future husband (I have a crush on Allison, I don’t personally know her but she seems like my type). I got down on one knee as a joke, she rolled her eyes lol. Matt, Michael, and Anoop were all fun. I admit, even though I really don’t like how Sarver said the “Godly” thing, he seems like a really nice guy. Funny story, someone told me people were looking for Adam to give autographs today in the afternoon in his Rolling Stones magazine, but Kris, Matt, and Michael were the only ones to come out and even though people flipped to the back page, they caught on and started signing it with “I heart Adam” or something.

The highlight of the night was meeting Kris, that was the most important thing I wanted to do.

I saw someone throw a shirt or something at Matt, but I didn’t notice any sort of hostility or anger.

Kris made me feel like a giant. I thought I was 2 inches taller, but it feels like I was more like 4 inches taller. OH YEAH, his wife was there, she’s a stunning woman. She and Kris had a hug and kiss in front of the bus.

  364. This is from the original guy : pererau
@MGiraudOfficial All these people hating on you because of my tweets weren’t there, so don’t mind them. I just felt bad for the girl.
@MGiraudOfficial I’m sorry for starting a firestorm against you. I understand you were right in the middle of signing autographs.

i think that should help clear up the stuff about matt, esp since the guy who “started it” did not mean it like that

  365. Danny DID get that standing O and not because of anything else!!!

    GOGOGOKEY!

  366. Just listened to “All The Things I’ve Done” and wow — I don’t even really know the song and it’s already 1000 times better than NB. Kris also seems to have a great time singing this, and he’s playing his electric guitar, baby!

Regarding the fans — I remember this kind of duscussion from some theatre boards last year when an actor I like was in a play. Some of his fans were really put out that he didn’t always show up to sign autographs and always refused to take photos (when you’re an actor, you need to control your image if you’re smart). Somehow they expected that because they bought a ticket to the show that this gave them an all-access pass to the actor as well. From what I’ve heard, this is a very gracious actor that has had some issues with loony fans in the past (sound familiar?).

Anyway, it really reminded me of this current situation. For some reason, fans have begun to feel entitled to autographs, photos, attention and etc. I know that in the case of AI, this is more of an expectation than in some other cases. However, I only expected to get a great show for my money when I went to the concert (and I did). I thought about waiting around by the buses afterward, but there were 100’s of people there already and lots of them looked pushy. I think if some of the idols are able to come out for a few minutes with their fans, it’s all gravy. Or it should be.

I think the Idols are really grateful and gracious as a whole, but I think the producers need to perhaps find a better way to handle some of these interactions. For most of them it isn’t so much of an issue, but I know that David Cook had issues last year (and stopped doing autographs by the buses altogether), and I can see things heading in that direction with Adam and even Kris. I certainly don’t feel that anyone should feel entitled to anything extra from these guys (unless they go to a meet & greet or something). All this fan stuff can get really ugly. Sad, really. I would start to feel overwhelmed by all the people screaming at me every day.

  367. Aren’t we saying the same thing then? I’m saying that these guys don’t have any obligation to deal with fans’“they just owe fans a good show for their money. It’s a good thing to sign when you feel able, but when you have a terrible headache or feel otherwise horrible or something (whether you’re Adam or any of the others), then you don’t have to. Yes, isis, I don’t think we’re arguing or really even disagreeing. Basically saying the same thing but from different perspectives.

I don’t think Adam was rude. He’s only got to do the show, and that’s it! I’m just saying I understand where everyone is coming from. The lovers, the haters, and Matty Tat Tat with his little jealous face.

  368. GeminiDolly Jul 11th, 2009 at 4:55 am

I liked it a lot. Kris did a good job with the song.

Good job Kris. I now have 3 songs that Kris has performed that I like. A couple of rough spots but I am sure that by tomorrow it will be all smoothed out. I hope is album is more like this and “Bright Lights.”

  369. @twinkle

Amen to what you stated. I too believe the headache angle. He should rest and EAT! Don’t think he is eating properly. Might be pushing himself too much. Imagine, almost daily concert recording appearance of TV sometimes bad sound system small amount of food = major headache or possible health problem. I hope he takes care of his health.

Don’t overdo things Glambert! Take Care! Peace! :-)

  370. I’m not saying Adam has any obligation to sign- headache or not. But people will be pisssssssssssssed. I was just comparing it to Matt. If Matt’s a bad person for refusing to act as postman, than Adam is too.

Adam’s a bad person because he didn’t come out to sign autographs?

Adam performed as scheduled and that’s what fans who paid for tickets were entitled to. Adam coming out and signing is not part of the package. It’s an extra that may or may not happen depending on circumstances. This holds true for all the Idols.

Matt’s remark to the little girl sounds callous but maybe he just had a bad moment.

  371. Adam is only eating water, greens and fiber bread???? Oh, that is just so awful! I am mad at people who have called him fat and mad at him for buying into it! He is BEAUTIFUL, and not even CLOSE to being fat. I hope his mother reads about this and flies to wherever he is to smack the shit out of him. He needs his strength to be able to handle this schedule!! Ok, I don’t have any kids and am obviously channeling some unused maternal instinct here. ;)

  372. Hi, everyone! Longtime lurker and I rarely post, so I’m not sure where to put this, but I just saw this from Reuters about Kris, Adam and Jason Castro’s debut albums. The quote from Ryan Tedder about Adam blows my mind!!!

‘The singer has so far teamed with producers RedOne (Lady GaGa) and Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic (Beyonce, Jordin Sparks), while Sam Sparro and Jim Jonsin have contributed as well.

Tedder says his songs with Lambert have a new wave, Tears for Fears vibe, but that choosing a musical direction for Lambert results in an embarrassment of riches. “He can sing so many different styles of music,” Tedder says. “I think he can be a global superstar; there’s not a doubt in my mind.”

    http://www.reuters.com/article/entertainmentNews/idUSTRE56A0HZ20090711

  373. I really loved your anecdotes, jammasta. Heehee. You actually told Kris he’s delicious, and your mom introduced you as Allison’s future husband. lol!

  374. Adam’s a bad person because he didn’t come out to sign autographs?

Matt’s remark to the little girl sounds callous but maybe he just had a bad moment.

IF is key here. I said IF MATT is a bad person, Adam is as well. A slight is a slight. A snub in a snub. Maybe Matt had a headache? could he say that and be absolved?

I don’t think Adam is a bad person, I was defending Matt. Some people see no fault in adam, but i was just trying to draw a parallel. If Matt sucks for what he may or may not have done, why doesn’t adam? cause of his headache?

again. I never said Adam sucks or is a bad person, or is rude. Just making conversation!

  375. Guys, I don’t think we know if that diet article was true. A lot of people seem to think it was completely made up, and given that there was a picture of Adam (why do I know this?) eating ice cream the other day, I highly doubt he’s subsisting on greens like he’s a llama or something.

Does it occur to anyone that Adam is pulling double duty.. while putting on an intensely and highly energetic performance each time, and having more songs to sing than most of the others, he is also working on his debut album which all his fans are clamoring for.. that takes quite a bit of creative juice too.

If he doesn’t take care of himself when he’s not feeling well, he won’t have much to give towards the great performances that everyone has come to expect from him. IMHO he’s wise to take care of his health and his voice, and to make that a priority rather than feel that he needs to sign autographs that some fans feel ‘entitled’ to get from him no matter how bad he may be feeling. Don’t they always say on airplanes that if the air bags come down, make sure you take care of yourself first and put one on yourself before you put it on your child’s?

And wouldn’t it be nice if Adam’s fans can appreciate the times he so graciously is willing to sign autographs without expectations that he SHOULD do it for the price of admission? I agree with those who wrote that what we pay for is the best performance they can give us.. that’s all and that’s enough.. it’s unconditional appreciation for a unique and special talent that needs to be supported and nurtured.

  377. To add, Danny Gokey got really huge response at the tour. People were waving their hands a lot more than they were for Adam, that I noticed anyway. But Adam got the loudest cheers. Kris’s rendition of Heartless also got the crowd in a storm, as did Hey Jude.

TBH, Adam isn’t going through that much more than the other idols. And I doubt he’s able to work tirelessly on his album whilst touring. The bulk of it now is probably just song writing or something. Kris is doing the same. Kris has a lot of songs. Allison does too. She’s working on an album. She was probably tired and beaten… but she manned up!

People will literally make any kind of excuse for Adam… while on an airplane, you take care of yourself… sheesh, give me a break..

  379. Why do I all of a sudden feel worried for Adam? I hate this feeling, all because of a headache. Hes just got so many things to do, I hope he doesnt overwhelm himself and is able to perform 100% tomorrow and the remaining tour dates.

  380. Here it is ‘” Kris’s new song:

    http://www.youtube.com/user/apriljoiex83

OMG people check out that video and the one below that says Kris at Bus Sac they videotaped ME getting my picture taken with Kris.

You see Kris and Matt shake hands and hug. They met up right when they got to me and they shouted to each other KRAT and laughed.

  381. LisaE, I just want to clarify that the girl who took that picture of Adam wasn’t wearing that shirt. It was a fan she met in the afternoon. She’s a friend of mine and she wouldn’t wear that shirt in public. hahaha

  382. @adamland

“Yes, I know most of his fans, including me, won’t care; but still, you don’t wanna break a couple of loyal hearts in the process. It’s about marketing after all! 1 unhappy client makes you loose 10 potential clients. It happens with any kind of business.”

Same here. I know that whatever the circumstance i am still a fan. I like the music primarily and the rest is just gravy. You are right on the mindset of the some fans and their expectations. Some expects the moon & stars from fav artists. Sadly that is now how things are.

I thought you said that you didn’t think it was wrong at all for Adam to forgo signing due to a headache? It’s not a matter of “manning up” or making excuses: I’m sure Allison and Kris were tired, they all are, but they didn’t seem to be feeling terrible–it seems to have been only Adam who really felt awful, for whatever reason. If Kris or Allison or any of the others felt as badly as he apparently felt, then they probably would have forgone signing as well, and no reasonable person would criticize them for it (meaning that crazies on twitter would, but that always happens).

Kris, Adam, and Allison are probably all especially exhausted because I think (I’m new to AI, but this is what I’ve heard) that they are indeed working tirelessly on their albums.

Tedder says his songs with Lambert have a new wave, Tears for Fears vibe, but that choosing a musical direction for Lambert results in an embarrassment of riches. ‘He can sing so many different styles of music,’ Tedder says. ‘I think he can be a global superstar; there’s not a doubt in my mind.’

    I luv it!!!! :thumbup_tb:

    Thanks for the link.

    WOOT!

  385. I thought I would post these because some of us aren’t familiar with the Killers or perhaps this song. These are the lyrics for All These Things That I’ve Done:

When there’s nowhere else to run
Is there room for one more son
    One more son
    If you can hold on
If you can hold on, hold on
I wanna stand up, I wanna let go
You know, you know – no you don’t, you don’t
I wanna shine on in the hearts of men
I want a meaning from the back of my broken hand

Another head aches, another heart breaks
I am so much older than I can take
And my affection, well it comes and goes
I need direction to perfection, no no no no

    Help me out
Yeah, you know you got to help me out
Yeah, oh don’t you put me on the backburner
You know you got to help me out

And when there’s nowhere else to run
Is there room for one more son
    These changes ain’t changing me
The cold-hearted boy I used to be

Yeah, you know you got to help me out
Yeah, oh don’t you put me on the backburner
You know you got to help me out
    You’re gonna bring yourself down
Yeah, you’re gonna bring yourself down
Yeah, you’re gonna bring yourself down

    I got soul, but I’m not a soldier (x 10)

Yeah, you know you got to help me out
Yeah, oh don’t you put me on the backburner
You know you got to help me out
    You’re gonna bring yourself down
    You’re gonna bring yourself down
Yeah, oh don’t you put me on the backburner
    You’re gonna bring yourself down
Yeah, you’re gonna bring yourself down

Over and out, last call for sin
While everyone’s lost, the battle is won
With all these things that I’ve done
All these things that I’ve done
    If you can hold on
    If you can hold on

    Interesting, yes?
Now all of you that are going to the concert in the coming days and weeks can sing along!

  386. C’mon now, I hear that Kris’s wife was there and of course Adam wouldn’t want to go out and see that. haha.

“I wanna shine on in the hearts of men”- well this would fuel some more kradam fans.

  387. Headaches =/= deafness.

True, headache does not equal deafness. However, I can’t even talk when I have a raging headache, let alone sing. He has another performance (no mellow affair) tomorrow, oops, tonight, and another one on Sunday. When is he supposed to recover? I will be majorly p!ssed off if his headache gets worse and he either can’t perform or performs sub-par on MY day. Never understood why people wait in line for hours to get an autograph. What do you do with it. Wipe your arse?

I would like to echo many posters who said the idols do not owe us more than giving their best to each and every performance. My AT&T statement for May was 558 pages all with Adam’s text numbers. I don’t mind not having picutre of Adam and myself or his autograph. They will end up in a shoe box which will get moved from my study to some other remote corner and then eventually the garage and then I wouldn’t remember where I put it.

idk. If Danny said, hey guys, got a headache, sorrry i couldn’t sign. Everyone in the world would be like ‘suck it up!’

No, I would n’t. I may not like someone or just don’t care, but that doesn’t mean I actively hate them and want to hurt them. All of these guys are singers. Having a headache is a big deal.

  388. I hope they all feel better in the morning..I hope we all feel better in the morning…OMG, it is morning LOL

  389. Jesus!!!if Adam saw all these comments, it would give him ANOTHER killer headache for sure!!!
I hope he could take all the time he needs. he doesn’t owe fans one bit!

  390. ‘I wanna shine on in the hearts of men’ - well this would fuel some more kradam fans.

OMG, I thought that too! Gotta stop reading this thread. I wanna be fresh for tomorrow vids. Good night everyone and thanks for entertaining comments and insights!

  391. Reading the conversation on these tour threads is like re-reading the one last year. I remember the same fan madness for Archie like the one for Adam this year (the decibel level was insane!). The kid was really sweet and came out at every stop, come rain or shine. Cook missed a few stops (maybe 5 or 6, he certainly came out again after Columbus). There was a huge fuss each time he missed, but there were good reasons – he wouldn’t tolerate rude and pushy fans and there were times he’d tell peeps to calm down or back off if they were endangering others. Security was a big deal, but he tried to deal with it with some humour. I only remember 1 stop where he was genuinely upset – when someone displayed his family home phone number on a poster (freaky!). At one stop another Idol’s fan actually held up a pretty crazy poster amounting to something like a death threat (It was supposedly a joke – what a moron!), and he didn’t say anything. He had co-writing and recording sessions every free minute and would often fly back to LA right after a concert. He also had to fly out to random public appearances as the reigning American Idol, like the Oprah Winfrey show etc. He definitely had more interviews and radio stops than the other Idols. But he made lots of time for little kids at the fences, paying them longer attention, sometimes carrying them over the fence to help him do the signings, sometimes arranging for meet&greet passes even if they were fans of the other Idols.

So take it from a AI7 “grizzled vet”: all these kids are really really good with their fans. If they don’t come out / don’t sign / don’t want to take messages and stuff for the other idols, there’s usually a really good reason. They’re on a gruelling tour, doing interviews and photoshoots and some are recording. For the First Time in their lives. And many fans aren’t saints either – I’ve seen more bad behaviour from fans than from the Idols – pushy, rude, demanding, hyooooge sense of entitlement issues, and some are downright nuts LOL.

As for Twitter, I don’t pay much attention to commentary. Twit comments don’t give you much context. The updates or links to pics vids or other real content are the useful bits.

  392. Actually, this came to mind as well. I read in one article that water, greens and fiber bread are the only type of food he consumes. Plus the sound system problem could also contribute the headache.

This is totally unsubstantiated rumor generated entirely by one website that has posted two articles with zero cites or attribution as to where they got the information. They have name dropped Adam all over their ad covered pages which points to their merely wanting website hits.
Rumors, rumors, and rumors and every mention of it just feeds the mill.

  393. OMG KILLERS!!!!!! I am the all time rabid Killer fan, and that is my favourite song by them. Kris actually has a better voice than Brandon so I was excited to hear the clip. Fantastic job, damn I would go to the concert just to hear that! I may have to plan a trip to the US. Wow, I need direction to perfection help me out! You just did MJ! Kris doing the Killers. Sigh, happy dance indeed!

  394. Wait a minute…..A little girl threw a letter at Adam as he walked by, and HE DIDN’T BOTHER TO PICK IT UP!

Then, later, some random guy asked Matt to pick up a letter off the dirty ground and take it to Adam, and he refused. AND MATT’S THE FRICKIN BAD GUY??? What about Adam totally dissing a child?

Did Matt even know a little girl had tried to give the letter to Adam? He could have thought it was from some creepy pervy dude, for all we know. Why should he pick it up when Adam couldn’t be bothered when A LITTLE GIRL had thrown it at him when he was passing by?

Matt has been out to interact with the fans at every single venue, even on the days when he does press. He is going out of his way to be kind and inclusive and available. It’s a real shame that he is getting piled on for this.

  395. Glamgirl:

I know what you mean. I’ve never figured out why people must have “autographs”, except those looking for ebay money. (And many of those are fake anyway). After AI ended, and before the tour, rehearsals, contracts etc., Adam was signing and returning stuff that was sent to him-often with nice long notes. So if you MUST get an AI autograph, this is the time to do it I think.

Now a pic with Adam? Oooo I’d like that!

  396. @flicker

“Wait a minute’ ¦..A little girl threw a letter at Adam as he walked by, and HE DIDN’T BOTHER TO PICK IT UP!

Matt has been out to interact with the fans at every single venue, even on the days when he does press. He is going out of his way to be kind and inclusive and available. It’s a real shame that he is getting piled on for this.”

This was already mentioned in other sites. Adam didn’t see the envelope. He didn’t ignore it. I think it fell when Adam already move ahead. When somebody noticed that it was on the ground, that person requested Matt to get it and forward it to Adam which Matt refused given that he can’t get out from signing autographs. I think Adam is sweet and will not do this to a child.

I’m not into Danny, but I agree with this.

  398. I doubt it! Not everyone thinks the sun and moon rises and sets with Adam. Nor is everyone walking around being jealous of Adam. I don’t for a minute believe this ever happened.

Adam IS the sun and moon, j/k

Seriously though, I believed it happened, but with every minor incident so far fans have escalated them into fire storms.

ETA: If you read the tweets of the guy who twittered this comment, he had no reason to make it up – I think it shocked him when Matt said that.

As for Adam’s headache, it does suck he didn’t sign especially in CA where a lot of his fans reside, but I understand he wasn’t feeling himself. If he had went out and was grumpy and irritable that would cause backlash too.

  399. Just watched Kris’ All These Things’ ¦. it was okay. And this is coming from a diehard the Killers fan.

Ditto. I don’t know if I’d call myself a “diehard Killers fan,” but I love a lot of their songs, and this one is just meh. I’ve heard the album that it’s on many times, and I didn’t even remember it when I listened to it again last night. Strange choice. All I can figure is that much of it is sung in his lower register, and he may be trying to save his voice while still having an uptempo number.

I also kind of LOL’d when he said “everybody sing along” when quite clearly very few people know the song!

  400. @Squirrely

“Adam IS the sun and moon, j/k”

Yes he is, at least for me. :-) That’s why i feel bad about this. Some fans feel slighted but honestly what do they expect. If he comes out to say HI but be grouchy, the backlash would be worst. Not only that he also have other performances. OTND_ai is not really picking up on this. It is a headache so they feel that it will blow over.

“Seriously though, I believed it happened, but with every minor incident so far fans have escalated them into fire storms.”

I really don’t know why the fans escalate things. I feel bad for Adam coz he has to be very careful with his actions. Small things he does causes reactions from fans and haters. Haters quick to capitalize on issues like this. *sigh* Nothing comes easy for Adam. Well i haven’t change my views, am still here supporting Adam.

  401. I think Adam is sweet and will not do this to a child.

You know, wicca, I totally agree with this. I think Adam is a genuinely good guy, and I think Matt is a really good guy too. I don’t think either of them would do this to a child.

I was angry to see all the hate directed at Matt when I logged on this morning, and I posted in anger. I apologize to you and other Adam fans.

  402. Flickers post just shows us how one tweet can be taken and misinterpreted and re-phrased. Flicker, Adam had to leave the meet and greet that took place inside the venue halfway through the signing because he was feeling unwell and therefore did not make it outside to sign. People who were inside said he wasn’t himself, he must have been feeling pretty awful and had to leave. Therefore Adam couldn’t have see the note from the little girl, because he wasn’t even there.

If this one little incident doesn’t show us how the media, twitter, gossip, and peoples differing perspectives affect how information is perceived, and retold, then I don’t know what does. Twitter is the devil, its like a worldwide game of chinese whispers.

  403. Another spin on the “Adam” incident-it could be that seeing the huge crowd the handlers didn’t allow him to meet and greet due to security concerns. I think the reality is that this IS the Adam Lambert show. Adam is the cash cow-I think interest and ticket sales would have been moderate at best without Adam.

While the idols are well paid, their days are grueling, and Adam and Kris especially are in demand for local press and extra duty. I think the tour would be fun if you were on the two-song first part of the slate. But every ounce of blood is extracted from Allison, Adam, Danny and Kris.

  404. Just seen your reply flicker:)

I don’t think Matt realised the letter was from a child either. It is mayhem by those barricades.
All the idols are doing their best. Adam has two more shows in a row to do. He can’t afford to take risks with his health and risk missing a performance, that would be even more of a let down to fans than foregoing 10 minutes of signing autographs.

  405. Latest tweets from pererau who started the tweets about the Matt incident, I think these were posted earlier…

@MGiraudOfficial All these people hating on you because of my tweets weren’t there, so don’t mind them. I just felt bad for the girl.

@MGiraudOfficial I’m sorry for starting a firestorm against you. I understand you were right in the middle of signing autographs.

He shouldn’t have tweeted about the incident in the first place (I don’t think he deserves the backlash for tweeting about it, but he should know better…fans tend to..um, overreact) but nice of him to apologize :) Looking at the earlier Matt tweets, he didn’t blame Matt for anything, he just stated what happened, that he felt bad for the girl. People blew the incident out of proportion and now poor Matt’s got haters who don’t know any better.

Adam didn’t ‘bother to come out’ because he had a killer headache. That is what he tweeted.

This is the only response I found on Adam’s twitter:

Sacramento: I love u. Sorry I didn’t sign autographs outside. I have a killer headache.
about 5 hours ago from TwitterFon

  407. But every ounce of blood is extracted from Allison, Adam, Danny and Kris.

I agree with this. The top four are the headliners and Adam, Kris and Allison are pretty much pre- promoting their albums. Adam and Kris are doing more outside the tour things and Adam even more than Kris – this is jmo based on press and interviews. I also feel Adam has more pressure on him to give a good performance because of all the AI hype he received.

Side note – based on Danny’s reception and performances, he may have a deal by the time the tour is over.

  408. These guys are so swamped when they come out it is virtually impossible for them to read every note, shake every hand, have their picture taken with every fan. I went to seven concerts last year and only saw David Cook at all at three of them two before the concert and one after. I was only close enough to take a picture through the heads and arms the first time, got to get his autograph for a friend in Brazil the second time, and finally the third time, which was the last concert in Tulsa, I got to actually talk to him for a millisecond and give him a gift. It was not because he was dissing his fans. They are just pulled in a million directions including local press, organized autographed sessions, and pre and post production responsibilities. The fact that they come out before and after the shows at all is a testiment to how much they appreciate and connect with their fans.

edit: please don’t fan the flames

  409. Awesome! Thanks for the video, MJ. Loved watching Kris rock out on All These Things that I’ve Done. He’s having a ball and the audience is reacting positively. Love it!

  410. edit: OFF TOPIC we aren’t having a sales war in this thread. Stick to talking about the tour

  411. “All These Things that I Have Done”: What a perfect choice. I’ve loved that song for years. He’s in my brain with song choices.

    And he looks so happy.

  412. 1. He should have done this for rock night instead of Come Together. Come Together was good but this would have completely surprised and delighted the judges.

    2. I think this song goes a long way to tell people the kind of performer that he is and his vision for his future. I never would have thought that he’s pick a song like this. I’m really excited for Kris. Great.

  413. And he looks so happy.

He really does. I’m still curious to know if Kris approached the producers or if the producers approached Kris about dropping NB.

  414. If Matt did say “he wasn’t a messinger” he’d be my new hero. Because I don’t understand the whole waiting after the show to get them to sign things and giving them letters or gifts. And if he had the balls to say no to the overinvested Idol fans that expect a personal connection because they watch TV, I’d really respect him. However, I’m guessing it’s just another exaggerated story spread via Twitter.

And twitter is ridiculous. Just because somebody twitters something at the moment doesn’t mean its true or there isn’t an agenda involved.

And I kind of hope Adam has a headache after every show and then it turns out that’s it all bs. The quicker overinvested fans realize that he’s just a normal person, the better. He’s not a God or even a Rock God yet. And every other idol current or past is not jellus of him. Nothing to be jellus of yet. Maybe in six months or maybe never.

Top 40 is crap but this is the arena where Adam, Kris and Allison have to succeed.

Honestly, neither Kris or Adam is setting the world on fire with their S8 sales especially compared with last year. Just bringing some reality into all this.

  415. edit: we aren’t going to have a sales war in this thread

The entire audience remained on it’s feet for the new song, so that silences the loudest complaint about NoBo in concert. There is a low quality vid from further back in the audience, and it also showed everyone standing.

I seldom use the high quality setting at youtube, because I have a low bandwidth usage plan. But, this one really needs the HQ because of the low sound quality.

  416. Pererau (he’s going to send a full re-cap later) just emailed this to me:

Please be assured that I have no intention of maligning Matt in any way. He wasn’t my favorite contestant, but I am not the kind of person who would ever wish ill on anyone. In fact, I feel bad about some of the comments I made about Michael, especially after he was such a classy guy when he was signing autographs. Anyway, here is what happened:

We were standing in line about 30 or 40 feet from the beginning of the crowd and about 2 people deep. Right behind me was a young mom with her daughter who was probably 7 or 8. The daughter was restless and wanted to leave, but had a letter that she had written for Adam that she wanted to give him. I know this because we had all talked amongst ourselves about who we were waiting for and had agreed to try to let each other get toward the front when “our” idols came by. Michael had already come by and signed autographs, and Anoop and Matt were starting to make their way down the line when Adam came out and walked toward the buses, waving at the crowd and blowing kisses. The girl, probably realizing that he wasn’t going to come, but really wanting to get it to him, threw the letter (I don’t think it was in an envelope, it was just written on some kiddie-looking stationary. Needless to say, it only went about three or four feet beyond the barrier, so I was about to ask one of the security guys if he could pick it up for her, but he started walking the other direction. A minute later, Matt came along. He was very friendly to everyone and even signed a shirt that my wife had brought to get some signatures on. There was a moment where nobody was calling his name, so I thought, maybe he would pick the letter up and slip it in his pocket and give it to Adam when he got in the bus, so I said, “Hey Matt, there is a letter right there that this little girl wrote (there is no way he could have seen the girl as she was several people back and only about 3 feet tall), and she wanted to give it to Adam. Could you take it to her. He looked up and said, “sorry, I’m not Adam’s messenger. I hope he gets it.” and moved on. Interjecting my personal opinion, I think that in that scenario, I would have bent over and just slipped it in my pocket, but then again, Matt was busy trying to please a whole throng of fans, and it really wasn’t his duty to play mailman to Adam. The tale is nothing more and nothing less than that. I don’t think it is fair to judge Matt’s personality based on one 5 second interaction in the middle of a crowd, and that was not the point of my tweet. I just really felt bad for that girl, who I could tell was just hoping for nothing more than a chance to say hi to Adam. So please, tell your readers to take it easy on Matt. I don’t think he deserves some of the flames I’m seeing thrown at him, and I’m sorry to be the instigator of that with my tweet.

  417. Another spin on the ‘Adam’ incident-it could be that seeing the huge crowd the handlers didn’t allow him to meet and greet due to security concerns. I think the reality is that this IS the Adam Lambert show. Adam is the cash cow-I think interest and ticket sales would have been moderate at best without Adam.

We don’t know but I had the same thought. And there were a lot of people there waiting to get Adam’s autograph/see him/scream. The video from Vancouver showed the the signing was a bit crazy there.

I don’t knw if this is up to David Cook level, but it may be that TPTB decided that it was better not to have him come out last night. They had Adam out first and alone after one concert.

  418. Okay, can’t resist chiming in on headache-gate. People are actually mad at Adam about this? I have a hard time wrapping my brain around that one. Yes, I’m an Adam fan, but I’d feel the same way if it was Danny or Allison or whoever who didn’t sign because of a headache. Sometimes people just don’t feel well. And I think there’s a big difference between signing autographs for a thousand screaming fans and sucking it up and doing your job when you don’t feel well. It takes a lot of energy to interact with fans that way, when everyone *wants* something from you. Yes, Adam owes something to his fans and that’s a great show every night. But he has to be able to set limits when he needs to, otherwise those same fans will take everything they can get. It’s not as if he never signs autographs or never interacts with fans. He had ONE night where he didn’t feel up to it. It’s not that big of a deal.

  419. AC Jul 11th, 2009 at 1:32 am
I am guessing yes because i’ve never been to a concert where people give standing ovations? haha.. they’re usually up already

indeed, either because it’s General Admission no seating or people were up from the first song

thrilled to hear that new song from the Killers, a crowd pleaser- now Brandon Flowers was doing a scruffy Colonel Sanders look on the Sam’s Town tour, he is back to rocking guyliner and feathers, why I love them, beside the quirky lyrics, they follow their own muse even if it confuses their own fans…

  420. but it may be that TPTB decided that it was better not to have him come out last night. They had Adam out first and alone after one concert.

His handlers do not control Adam to that degree. If Adam had wanted to come out, he would have been out there, not that I blame him or fault him either way.

  421. Thanks pererau! People are giving Matt a hard time (eta: I mean, here) w/that particular twit of yours. Hope this puts an end to all the confusion. It’s nice to get the whole perspective. And I had fun reading your twits.

  422. @flicker

“You know, wicca, I totally agree with this. I think Adam is a genuinely good guy, and I think Matt is a really good guy too. I don’t think either of them would do this to a child.

I was angry to see all the hate directed at Matt when I logged on this morning, and I posted in anger. I apologize to you and other Adam fans.”

Thanks for your response. I think the guy who twittered about “matt” also apologize to Matt via twitter. At the end of the day, all AI contestants wants to do music and they deserve their chance. As fans we have to give them that opportunity. Sadly, not all fans are supportive.

  423. Oh’“that’s too bad. Matt kind of screwed up with that.

No matter how you spin it it comes off bad. Even if he just picked it up it would have been cool. And for the record, no he was not obligated to do anything, but it would have been good press in the fandom world if he did.

As for Adam, I doubt he will miss another signing after this, even if he only signs for 2 people he will be out there. I remember Jaime Fox talking about this on Ellen and saying Adam will need to be prepared for this.

  424. I also think that Kris changed it to save his voice, both he and Adam said many times that NB is very difficult to sing live…..

  425. Just watched “All The Things Things That I’ve Done”. Kris looks like he’s having fun which is nice, and the crowd def likes it more than NoBo.

    For me, it’s just OK
. I prefer The Killers version and it’s original post-punk style.

  426. So please, tell your readers to take it easy on Matt. I don’t think he deserves some of the flames I’m seeing thrown at him, and I’m sorry to be the instigator of that with my tweet.

This always happens early in the tour season. After a few concerts and a few tweets/reports about each and every contestant, people realize that it’s much ado about nothing. Given enough time, every Idol says something that can be taken the wrong way, misses signing autographs, is grumpy, looks at a fan the wrong way, doesn’t hear something somebody shouts and is stuck-up/not gracious/unappreciative/jealous/etc. Most fans soon realize this and stop over-reacting to each and every report.

Idols are humans. People reporting things are humans. Some fans will always be crazy.

Thanks for taking the time to provide some context. Looking forward to your review (don’t let this dampen your inner snark).

  427. It would have been kind of scary if Danny had been the one who refused to give the letter to Adam. Since before the tour he was pretty much seen as the debil or mega douche by many. There would have been Armagedon among the Idol fanbase for sure.

Although I see on the tour he and Sarver are coming across as nice guys.

  428. (Mea culpa, mj. Sorry for getting sucked in.)

I still like NoBo, and it probably would have been fine, earlier in the show. It was just out of place, after the ‘rock’ got turned up by the final 4 (minus Danny).

The producers intended for Kris’ segment to be his own show, instead of a continuation of Adam’s show, but the critics and some in the audience either didn’t grasp, or didn’t appreciate that concept.

So now, ballads are pretty much off the table for Kris’ segment, it would seem, as any ballad would be labled a buzz kill.

  429. It would have been kind of scary if Danny had been the one who refused to give the letter to Adam. Since before the tour he was pretty much seen as the debil or mega douche by many. There would have been Armagedon among the Idol fanbase for sure.

I kow this could have happened to anyone. But Danny and Michael have been great to the fans, and both have gone the extra mile to help Kris and Adam fans. I think Matt’s real problem isn’t that he didn’t pick up the note — it was what he said “I’m not Adam’s messenger.” It just sounds so rude and self-centered.

  430. on the AT40 show, kris says his album is gonna have an alternative sound as well so killers, matchbox20 just the right vibe for him. it’ll be soooo cool if kris gets a band like david cooks and rocks it :smoke_tb:

and all these things that i’ve done is a super song…and my favourite of the killers…especially i got soul but i’m not a soldier part…it used to be a catch phrase with my friends :-) good job, kris

  431. Pererau:

Funny, until I read this last post I didn’t think ill of Matt. But now that I’ve read the full story….
I guess these kids will find out the hard way that each and everything they say or do will invite scrutiny.
What he should have said is, “well, sure honey, I’ll see what I can do…” and move on. (taking the silly note of course).
And MJ at the risk of going off topic: Once at a baseball game(AAA-or before they were stars LOL) My son wanted a particular players autograph on a ball. The player walked right by him and hopped on the bus. Then Chipper Jones (now w/the Braves) took my son on the team bus to get his and all the other autographs. My son has been a LIFELONG Chipper Jones fan ever since. IOW: It is about building good will.

  432. Thanks for the link to the review. I’m deciding if I should buy tickets and while the fan recaps here have been very positive saying the show was better than past seasons, the newspaper reviews have been mostly negative with only a few people praised. S7 tour got much sronger reviews so far.

That Vancouver review added to the Portland one give the overall show a pretty “meh” grade.

  433. it was what he said ‘I’m not Adam’s messenger.’ It just sounds so rude and self-centered.

Well. He’s not Adam’s messenger. This also happens every year, where an Idol basically refuses to a fans face, to play messenger.

  434. Thanks for the link to the review. I’m deciding if I should buy tickets and while the fan recaps here have been very positive saying the show was better than past seasons, the newspaper reviews have been mostly negative with only a few people praised. S7 tour got much sronger reviews so far.

I remember quite a few ‘meh’ reviews last year.

it was what he said ‘I’m not Adam’s messenger.’ It just sounds so rude and self-centered.

We don’t know the context. The request should be presented as asking a favor, but I can imagine that some fans come across very demanding.

  435. It would have been kind of scary if Danny had been the one who refused to give the letter to Adam.

Oh God! It would have been all out basing of Danny in twitterland

  436. I won’t go off topic but I remember last year more Idols got praised – Brooke, Jason, Carly, etc. This year I’m getting one or two names and the rest as not ready for prime time. Although the fan comments are much more positive. I’ll wait for a few more reviews to decide. That Vancouver reviewer was pretty brutal.

  437. I agree with MJ that all these kids owe us is a great concert because thats what we paid for. If it was an autograph well thats what personal appearances are for. The fact of the matter is that they are all human beings not actual Idols. Personally I would like to hear reviews of the concert and how ALL the Idols did rather than the drama that twitter has spawned….

  438. I think Matt’s real problem isn’t that he didn’t pick up the note ‘” it was what he said ‘I’m not Adam’s messenger.’ It just sounds so rude and self-centered.

…and jealous and bitter… Even if he’s not any of those things, that IS how it sounds. But, it also IS true (he’s not Adam’s messenger. Though Adam may be hiring soon, so there’s still hope. LOL j/k) :-)

Biting his tongue, or simply saying, “I’ll try” would have gotten him off the hook, imo. We all make mistakes, and I totally can see Matt’s side of this too. Just a PR nightmare for him, unfortunately. Live and learn.

Angry at Adam for having a headache? Being ill? Are some people that callous? Demanding? Entitled? It makes me sad that we’ve really learned nothing from watching a variety of our “stars” deconstruct under the force of media and fans — to name a few, the most recent being Brittany and MJ, may he RIP. Shit, this world can be a tough place to be. Makes me sad for these guys.

  439. Well the other part of the twitters dogging Adam seem to refer to partying too much, sounds like he was perhaps spotted at one such establishment or that may too have been rumour, so some fans might be less sympathetic to nursing hangovers vs your garden variety migraine/headache. Of course I have to laugh because that’s the PG AI thing, most bands and artists are known to party and almost expected to have hangovers and such. And often they haven’t necessarily sobered/straightened up by the time they get on stage the next night. Or maybe that says something about the bands I like.

I am the sort who doesn’t bother going back to the buses. I’d rather go for drinks and rehash the concert or get back home so I can report on it, bwah – but the problem is Idols past have set up high expectations, I was shocked at all the reports of how most of the Idols last year did seem to go over and beyond and I felt like saying, most artists and bands are not like this, people. The problem is for every actor or musician that is aloof there are a handful actors or musicians that go out of their way to be good to their fans. Alan Rickman was well known for being wonderful and personable when he came out every night when he did a run of a play in NYC for example. Shoot Michael Jackson invited fans into his house if they expressed undying love. Personally I don’t think they owe that and don’t know how they deal with all that, along with TMZ and paps, except in controlled situations they have agreed to participate like official meet and greets or CD signings etc. Then if they are being jerks, that’s not kosher.

  440. Why did the Globe and Mail writer make a big deal out of Danny’s and Kris’ religion? IMO, that seriously undercut her credibility, since that should not influence her opinion of their music. Obviously, however, it did.

  441. I wonder if Kris reviews will be better now that NB is out?

I think that for the most part Kris’ reviews are always going to be good. It’s the sucking of energy that occurs when he follows Adam that is the huge problem for him and I don’t know that it is possible to solve that issue.

  442. Angry at Adam for having a headache? Being ill? Are some people that callous? Demanding? Entitled? It makes me sad that we’ve really learned nothing from watching a variety of our ‘stars’ deconstruct under the force of media and fans ‘” to name a few, the most recent being Brittany and MJ, may he RIP. Shit, this world can be a tough place to be. Makes me sad for these guys.

thats the entertainment world for ya. nothing you and i or even the idols can do about it. i’m sure by now they are fast developing a thick skin!

  443. Personally I think that trying to get a picture or an autograph or giving a “gift” is absolutely ludicrous. Why would I spend my hard earned cash on someone I have never met who makes tons more money than me, and autographs and pictures are just another piece of eventually junk that clogs up another overfilled what-not drawer.

I wish I could find the originator of this barbaric tradition and give them a piece of my mind. If I wanted a picture…I’d just write in and get a pre-signed one, end of story. Or better yet, just buy a CD when it comes out…that is honoring the idol. And, instead of wasting money on a gift the idol doesn’t really want and won’t get me noticed anyway…why not send a small donation into a charity of their choice…everybody would benefit from that small and meaningful gesture.

For me, going to a concert is all about hearing how someone sounds in person without all the crap that is part of a recorded song. To hear and enjoy and to say a personal little thanks to the performer(s) by filling a seat and letting them know they are appreciated for their work and effort.

  444. It’s nice to hear such good things about Kris. I am liking both Kris and Adam more post-idol than I did while they were on the show.

  445. The review isn’t very nice, but it is rather funny. And okay, I sort of agree with most of it, even the criticism of my beloved Adam.

Allison seems to get constant praise, then Adam, then Danny then Kris – the others tend to vary.

  447. Frankly I think Adam did the right thing. The top four have a long career ahead of them and they need to learn now how to deal with fans when it comes to their own well being. He wasn’t well last night so he was taking care of himself. Talking care of himself is good for the fans. His number one priority is the concert and his album – those are gifts to his fans and if he can’t deliver those gifts all the fans would be pissed. In skipping the bus crowded a few hundred got upset – oh well. Priorities! And I think the more you cave to fan demands the more enslaved you are every day of your career.

And frankly I think Matt did the right thing too. If word gets out that they will deliver stuff to other idols well then all hell will break loose. They would spend all their time collecting and passing things to each other. Who knows how many times Matt has heard, “can you give this to – insert your favorite idol name here”. I was Matt, for his own sanity, would take a break from twitter – he and Danny seem to read it constantly. I think they should detach for their own well being.

Twitter is fun and wacky and instant gratification but to believe 140 characters written by a stranger is not good for anyones mental health. This was a silly little non-incident and it seems to have taken on life of it’s own. Maybe Kris was onto something when he said twitter is the devil.

Lesson to us all – be careful what you twitter because the world is watching!!

Thanks for the forum and for all you do for idol fans MJ!

  448. Why did the Globe and Mail writer make a big deal out of Danny’s and Kris’ religion? IMO, that seriously undercut her credibility, since that should not influence her opinion of their music. Obviously, however, it did.

Why did the writer make a big deal out of their religion? Because America did….

  449. This just shows the damage that an internet/twitter comment can make. Matt should not be expected to stop greeting his own fans, to check on the happiness of the fans of others. Most of them have a lot of fans to try to please, and a limited amount of time to make that happen.

  450. spring2009, that is your opinion. Kris is my favorite, and he would be my favorite if he were Hari Krishna or Rastifarian.

  451. Personally I think that trying to get a picture or an autograph or giving a ‘gift’ is absolutely ludicrous. Why would I spend my hard earned cash on someone I have never met who makes tons more money than me

That’s how I feel my gift was/is the money I paid for the ticket and the albums.
As for autographs, I always say I will wait but after a few minutes I give up and go home.

  452. Oh wow, am I glad that they decided to stop having Kris singing No Boundaries. All These Things That I’ve Done is bar none the best song of The Killers, IMO. Brandon Flowers does a great job on that song and I think Kris did it well so good for him.

  453. The glove and mail review was bias to the point of being hilarious, even worse than the Portland one, I would say.

I stopped reading at “Religion was the major player in the final weeks of the show – “bad boy,” a.k.a. “gay boy” Adam Lambert, the meat in an evangelical Christian sandwich of Gokey and winner Kris Allen.”

I wonder if the quickest way nowadays to gain fame and popularity is to jump on the Adam bandwagon and create controversy by bashing Kris. If you watch the videos you can see that there is no shred of truth to that as the crowd were cheering wildly for Kris, although admittedly might not be as madly as for Adam, but nonetheless nowhere near constituting “cringeworthy perfomances” and “sucking the air out of the room with poor and boring performances”.

@jpfan – You can choose to read and believe these reviews or the many more neutral ones who say that the concert is a huge success overall. I know for certain that I would die to attend one of these concerts, just that I would have to fly halfway around the world to achieve that dream.

  454. spring2009, that is your opinion. Kris is my favorite, and he would be my favorite if he were Hari Krishna or Rastifarian.

I was not necessarily speaking to the voting – in this case, I was speaking of the media. Why is it wrong that this writer brought it up, when it was mentioned a million times previously as was Adam’s sexuality etc.?

  455. This twitter thing is errr……….gonna cause ripples out of nothing, all summer long, isnt it?

  456. I think you also have to understand that many so called music critics have an anti Idol bias or anti reality show bias. Some reviewers you almost feel they wrote the article before they even saw the concert and sometimes you wonder if they saw the concert – I refer back to the scandal a few years ago when a reporter supposedly covered a basketball game, maybe All Stars or something but he got caught, he was written the article before the game, he did not go, there was a major change in respect to the halftime honours being bestowed, and the editors didn’t catch the fact that he hadn’t addressed this and splotch – major egg on the face of that reporter and paper, and I suspect that this happens more often than we realize. I also noted with another band, it seemed like a bunch of reviewers were using the same template if not the same words as earlier reviewers. And having seen how that works in another context, I would not be surprised that some reviewers were just using other reviews as their template. How hard could it be to write an original review? If it is too hard, I’d be happy to go to concerts all the time for free and get paid to write reviews.

  457. Over the top, by definition, means that it won’t appeal to everyone. If it did, it would no longer be OTT, it would be mainstream.

I have never been to a Vegas show, and would probably have to be dragged kicking and screaming to one.

I am not a fan of ‘spectacle’, I am a fan of music, with a strong preference for the organic. Give me a 4 piece band and a really good singer and I am good to go. I like really loud, and I like really soft. I am the one person who would buy a ticket for Kris to open for Shinedown and be in heaven.

That ^^^ in a nutshell, is why Kris appeals to me more than Adam ever will. It isn’t my fault or Adam’s fault. It has nothing to do with religion or sexual orientation. If everyone had the same taste, there would only be one singer and one song. How boring would that be?

  458. Well the Globe and Mail reviewer did get one thing right:

Watching the 17-year-old with gravelly pipes belt out a version of Janis Joplin’s Cry Baby was one of the few true bright points of the night.

  459. This twitter thing is errr’ ¦’ ¦’ ¦.gonna cause ripples out of nothing, all summer long, isnt it?

    YEP. Sigh.

  460. so Matt has tweeted

I wish I could make everyone happy but sometimes ya can’t. Good night and Oakland here we come!!

    very true…keep up the spirit

  461. I wonder if Adam will twitt something everytime he has to miss the post concert buses crazyness. He doesn’t have to justify anything and I’m not sure giving explanations is the best way to go, because fans will start demanding a reason everytime he “fails” in their book. He can’t he can’t. There’s no obligation whatsoever.
Also, it’s not up to Matt to give messages. The idol’s have mail address, if you can’t give it to them in person, send it by mail.
Before the concerts it’s easier to intreact with the idols cause there are less people, but it seems to be chaotic at night.
From what I’ve read Matt (and Michael) are the only ones who bother to come out before the shows, so I don’t think Matt deserves that crap.

Well, it will be like this all summer.

  462. I agree that Adam and Matt deserve a break here. One, we don’t know all the facts. Touring is pretty exhausting and they are trying to write and/or record songs as well. I would guess they are working really hard.

I think what was originally thought by fans at any concert to be an “extra” (“I’ll stand outside backstage and maybe there’s a small chance I’ll get a glimpse of the singer/band”) has over the years become an inalienable right by fans to not only see the singer, but get an autograph/photo/etc. It really has gone too far imo. I think it is sad for the little girl, but her mother should not have led her into thinking that she would actually be able to give the letter to Adam. I mean, if she was really that young, she could have been redirected into mailing the letter to him pretty easily (and would never have known the difference if he never got it).

I had much more respect for David Cook after he stood up to his fans and gave them some limits. I hope that Adam and Kris can do the same thing, and focus on their performances and music.

ETA: wow, LOVED Kris on the Killers song.

  463. IT’s not what Matt did or didn’t do, it’s what he said. He could have easily said I’ll try, or sorry man I’m a little busy right now, or I’m sure one of the handlers will get it later. But no, he said “I’m not Adam’s messenger” which is, IMO, a bitter and mean-spirited thing to say… in a word dickish.

  464. Sorry I still forgive Matt even if he said exactly that, since Adam was not out, I will guess that every single Idol was asked multiple times to give things to Adam whilst they were trying to be good to their own fans in a tight time span, I could see that slipping out of my mouth especially if fans were becoming rude and pushy to me AND this was the 100th time someone asked me, it’s not my fault your fave isn’t out there, but I don’t deal with that kind of pandemonium well. The solution might be to have Adam’s handlers out there collecting the stuff for him or any time an Idol is absent let certain handlers collect the stuff for that Idol.

It’s okay Mattie, and it’s okay Adam, you guys are only human beings, being human?

  465. @jpfan

“And I kind of hope Adam has a headache after every show and then it turns out that’s it all bs. The quicker overinvested fans realize that he’s just a normal person, the better. He’s not a God or even or Rock God yet. And every other idol current or past is not jellus of him. Nothing to be jellus of yet. Maybe in six months or maybe never.”

As an Adam fan I am not under the illusion that he is a demi-god or a god of any sort. He is just a human being with immense musical ability, capable of greatness but who is also susceptible to human frailty. The usage of rock god is more of a term of endearment used to acknowledge his immense talent. People mimic the Idol judges when they use the term. I’ve been to other sites and other discussion groups and most people have the same mindset. As to whether he is as good or better than the previous idols – well this is subjective depending on what the general Consensus among the AI fans.

As to the probability of all or any of idols really making it? It is too early to see or to say who will or will not be successful. What we are seeing now the early stages wherein they are building their fan base and credibility as artists. The music industry has changed. It is hard to sell now vs. 10 years ago. There are a lot of choices out there. Not everybody likes a certain sounds (i hate sappy or country songs). The emergence of digital technology hampers music sales as the digital platform allows people to download and share music. You don’t need to buy an album to appreciate music. In Asia, bootleg copies of all types of movie & music are available to people at very low cost. These will definitely hamper success of artists.

It would be nice to see how each will perform outside the AI bubble after the tour and when the new AI season starts. As Adam fan, I can only help him succeed by ensuring that I buy his CDs, go to his concerts ‘“ contributing in my own small way to the success of his career. Hopefully the rest of the world will see/hear what I see/hear in him. As an AI fan, I can only wish the top 10 the best. As an Adam fan, i support him.

“Top 40 is crap but this is the arena where Adam, Kris and Allison have to compete to do well. Yes, it is possible to be successful without it but to join the ranks of the real Idol superstars, you have to have hits. The tour is a just the warm up to the real struggle awaiting all of them.”

I agree. There is still a long road ahead for all of them, right after the concert. Superstardom (beyond AI) will take a lot of hard work, connections, talent, luck and skillful career management.

  466. This twitter thing is errr’ ¦’ ¦’ ¦.gonna cause ripples out of nothing, all summer long, isnt it?

Sadly yes and WAY too many people pay attention to it. Like others have said ‘Twitter is the devil’ that’s why I don’t follow it. It’s totally invasive.

Why doesn’t AI have a person who goes along and collects things for the Idols then distributes them? Why should the Idols have to worry about it at all? I say give Matt a break. We aren’t privy to what has gone on in his day and some of them could be getting tired of all the attention Adam is getting. They’re only human after all.

Adam, oh Adam. He wanted to be a star. Looks like he’s getting his wish. I hope they can find a way for him to deal with this adulation safely. I’m not going to try and decide what kind of headache Adam had but I will say I just hope he is taking care of himself and hopefully not falling into the traps of fame like some do.

  467. It’s okay Mattie, and it’s okay Adam, you guys are only human beings, being human.

I agree they are only human and the backlash was unnecessary.

  468. @Q3
“We don’t know but I had the same thought. And there were a lot of people there waiting to get Adam’s autograph/see him/scream. The video from Vancouver showed the the signing was a bit crazy there.

I don’t knw if this is up to David Cook level, but it may be that TPTB decided that it was better not to have him come out last night. They had Adam out first and alone after one concert.”

This is a plausible story though it might be counter-productive to the talent concern. Plus the spin doctors should be working 24 hours to ensure that the story is in place. I don’t see any spin. This is why i think the “headache” story might be it. Headache can be triggered by: pressure on working on the album, concert, interview and slimming down. He might be wanting to get into his old “pre-idol” form. ‘Coz i think he kinda lost some weight since the finale. The bad sound system could also be part of it. It the sounds are fluctuating – these can also cause mega -headaches.

  469. Reminder:

If this thread drifts off the topic of the TOUR my delete finger will get very, very busy.

    STAY ON TOPIC. thank you.

  470. The Globe and Mail review was one of the first honest reviews of an Idol tour I’ve read this year. It’s a tough assignment. Do you review it against the standard of a real concert? Or, pretend that reality show karaoke singers with no career prospects are really professional entertainers?

On this whole autograph thing: I can’t believe that parents teach their 10 year old daughters to hang out by the stage door like rock n’ roll groupies. Good grief. Buy a ticket. Enjoy the show. Scream your head off. Get in the car. And go home.

If the Idol tour producers had a lick of sense, they would do an official autograph event late afternoon and avoid the autograph thing after the show entirely. They are just asking for trouble and it’s past bedtime for much of their audience.

  471. HWC: What do you think of Kris’s new song? I know that you loved NB and seemed disappointed yesterday that it was being removed from the set.

  472. lol hwc. I’d be willing to think that the review was honest except for the fact that the reviewer brought religion into it. Did I miss the part where Kris went into a speech about his faith during his set?

IMO, this is someone who is still pissed over Adam’s loss and is still blaming the supposed “red-state, evangelical christian, homophobic middle americans” for it. Lame.

  473. Do you review it against the standard of a real concert? Or, pretend that reality show karaoke singers with no career prospects are really professional entertainers?

Thank you for this. History certainly shows us that except for perhaps a couple of them – this is the end of the line.

  474. @clearone

“Adam, oh Adam. He wanted to be a star. Looks like he’s getting his wish. I hope they can find a way for him to deal with this adulation safely. I’m not going to try and decide what kind of headache Adam had but I will say I just hope he is taking care of himself and hopefully not falling into the traps of fame like some do.”

Yup, to be a star you should be willing to accept the pay-off.

  475. Thank you for this. History certainly shows us that except for perhaps a couple of them – this is the end of the line.

History also shows us that tour reviews only go so far and aren’t predictors of future success in the music industry. JMO.

  476. Do you review it against the standard of a real concert? Or, pretend that reality show karaoke singers with no career prospects are really professional entertainers?

Personally, I think that Roger Ebert set the tone for reviews. He reviews popcorn flicks as popcorn flicks and art films as art films. That way, if I’m in the mood for a popcorn flick or art film, I know which one he rates highly. People who review everything as an art film or popcorn flick are completely useless if you want to see the other style of film.

I don’t think that anybody is going to a American Idol concert and expecting U2.

The Globe and Mail review was one of the first honest reviews of an Idol tour I’ve read this year.

I could only make that statement if I’d attended the concert in question. Hey, I did attend the concert in question and I don’t think it was an honest review. It seems exactly like something a bitter fan would write.

  477. Kris’ performance of “All These Things That I’ve Done” looks great from the YouTube clip. And I think it will only get stronger as he and the band get more comfortable with it.

And Kris is never going to get a good review from any of these too-cool-for-schools reviewers so I am not worried about it. The You Tube clips and the reviews from the fans tell me what I need to know.

But I have no idea what Kris’ religion has to do with anything when his set list includes The Beatles, Kanye West, The Killers and Matchbox Twenty.

  478. History also shows us that tour reviews only go so far and aren’t predictors of future success in the music industry. JMO.

Hee! I remember how badly Bucky and Kellie were savaged by the critics during their AI Tour and they went on to be two of the more successful Idols from their season.

  479. Do you think we’ll ever get a video of WLL from last night?? Or any videos of the calibre from some of the earlier concerts (sorry, forget which ones).

Re Adam: I hope Adam takes care of himself, sleeps, eats, has fun, and knows how to keep the fans from taking over his life. His needs need to be respected (ok, in light of some of his performances of WLL that could be a really loaded statement!).

Re Matt: I think it is only fair to give him a BIG benefit of doubt. He seems like a good person.

Anyway, I am REALLY hoping for a video of WLL :)

  480. IMO, anyone who needs critics to tell them what kind of entertainment they should like, are people who need a full time caretaker.

  481. Hee! I remember how badly Bucky and Kellie were savaged by the critics during their AI Tour and they went on to be two of the more successful Idols from their season.

Bucky was a lot of fun on the tour.

I wonder when the Sacramento newspaper reviews will come out?

  482. Personally I think that trying to get a picture or an autograph or giving a ‘gift’ is absolutely ludicrous. Why would I spend my hard earned cash on someone I

have never met who makes tons more money than me, and autographs and pictures are just another piece of eventually junk that clogs up another overfilled what-not drawer.

I wish I could find the originator of this barbaric tradition and give them a piece of my mind. If I wanted a picture’ ¦I’d just write in and get a pre-signed one, end of story. Or better yet, just buy a CD when it comes out’ ¦that is honoring the idol. And, instead of wasting money on a gift the idol doesn’t really want and won’t get me noticed anyway’ ¦why not send a small donation into a charity of their choice’ ¦everybody would benefit from that small and meaningful gesture.

For me, going to a concert is all about hearing how someone sounds in person without all the crap that is part of a recorded song. To hear and enjoy and to say a personal little thanks to the performer(s) by filling a seat and letting them know they are appreciated for their work and effort.

    I totally agree.

I can understand that some people would be disappointed if their “idol” didn’t come out after a show to meet the fans, but I don’t think it should be expected of any singer after they have just done a gig. They give the fans what they paid for and that’s the performance on stage .. anything else (such as autographs, meetings etc) is just a bonus and depends on circumstances at the time .. it’s not a given.

It’s the same with actors at theatre performances .. they’ve just done a couple of hours on stage giving the fans what they actually paid for to see, yet they are often expected to stay behind at the stage door after the show for an hour chatting and signing autographys when they probaby just want to get home to bed and rest.

Yes it’s good PR for “celebs” to meet the fans and give autographs and there are probably times when it is convenient and isn’t encroaching on the artists non-performing time .. but it should never be a given after a show .. like you say .. the Artists gives to the fans in their performance and recordings and the fans give back by buying their CD’s and going to their shows.

  483. jealous or not, his words were rude. He could have just snobbed the guy or pretended he did not here anything..

oh well I just hope Adam feels well for their next concert..

btw, ADAM IS GOOD that is why he has thousands of over-protective fans.

  484. I read reviews before I spend my money on movies, plays, books etc. Music is a little different but I’m interested to see what critics in a variety of cities say.
Of course, nothing stops the devoted Idol fans from loving their favs. But they tend to see things very “emotionally.”

A year ago Mavid ruled and now Michael Johns struggles to sell albums to the same people who waited hours for an autograph. So there can be abit of hysteria associated with Idol fans that can make their recaps/opinions of the concerts somewhat suspect. You almost never read someone disappointed in the performance of the person they voted for on the show, for example. They’re always great. ;)

  485. Wonder if they’re waiting for monday or sunday? Saturday is such a dead day for the news.

Oh and I listened to Kris’s new song. I liked it, it definitely fits him. I do wish that he’d lose the guitar so he could engage the audience a little more. Either that or get a headset. Overall, it felt a bit rough (compared to the other numbers) but I think considering how fast this song got switched in, it’s amazing that it went so well. Speaks to the talent and professionalism of the tour band. And it speaks well of Kris for having the insight to plan for such an event, or being good enough to pick up the guitar and singing parts in such short notice.

  486. Anyway, I am REALLY hoping for a video of WLL :)

birchtree- I am waiting on another hot WLL video also. Did you see this one? I posted it on the Vancouver thread and didn’t get much response but it is the hottest one I’ve seen and it is close up.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m1zp9LmrPb0&feature=channel

This person has the Bowie and Starlight videos also and they are great.

  487. I am very glad that Danny got a standing ovation last night and that he got a lot of love from the audience. He has been getting a lot of love on tour so far, and I think that’s fantastic. :smile2_tb:

I believe AI is trying to take care of Adam. Numerous people have posted that he has several handlers where most of the contestants have none. Sometimes they don’t even let him stay out that long, and at least one time he was the only one to come out and then whisked him away for the rest of the idols to sign.

As someone said, it could have been the handlers to keep Adam from signing last night.

It was either last night’s show or the Vancouver one that someone tweeted that this year’s crowd was much bigger than last year’s.

  489. I’m not an Adam fan and you guys might kill me for this, but I found Adam’s Starlight incredibly boring. He tried too hard to add his signature to the song, and it just didn’t work at all to me. I found myself waiting for it to end. If Adam gets to change a song for whatever reason, change that one. I heard the original and had a huge feeling it was going to be a rare snoozefest from Adam, and I was right (Remember that it’s just my opinion that I’m right, don’t jump all over me please :P). I only gave it a 3/10, but I did give him props for effort. Also, the 15/10 I gave him for Whole Lotta Love made up for that. If you’re going to watch just one performance of Adam, that’s the one. Adam and the song are both not my style, but once you mix them you get pure awesome.

I don’t want to write a full-on review of the night because I’d give Allison a 500/10 and Kris an Infinity/10.

  490. Whew. Finally got through all the posts (skimmed the last ones).

Poor Adam. I think it had to be one KILLER headache for him to miss the bus signings. The guy is a trouper and those musical theater vets are tough! Personally, I’m worried about all the SMOKE in his set. In every video I’ve seen, the guy is enveloped in smoke. What chemicals is that stuff made of? That and the insane noise level during his set would be enough to give anyone a headache. Plus lack of sleep and meals on the run … if Adam was feeling under the weather, I don’t doubt he was also looking ahead to the two shows on Saturday and Sunday and trying to conserve himself for those shows. Those are his first priority and imagine the insanity if he missed one of those!

KRIS! Yes, I give MAJOR props to you for effecting a change in your set and getting NoBo axed! My one concern about Kris’s future is that the guy is almost too nice in a very tough business. But I suspect some behind the scenes manuevering (’cause I seriously doubt the tour producers came up with this all on their own) and discussion by him and GOOD FOR HIM. Gives me real hope that he will take a firm hand about the direction of his album. That is awesome!

Poor Matt. Maybe his choice of words could have been better, but these guys need more handlers and security to help them out! Somebody should have been walking behind him to collect the stuff from the fans. The idols are too busy trying to sign everything put in front of them. Feel bad for Matt ’cause I think he’s basically a nice guy.

PERERAU: Those posts were hysterical! I’m in awe of your ability to fire off coherent, funny posts in the middle of the concert. A true multi-tasker, which probably explains why you’re in scrubs!

  491. Regarding the Matt-gate, I would only say: noblesse oblige.

I am also waiting for the WLL video.

  492. â™ «Ã¢â„¢ ª adamlambertSacramento: I love u. Sorry I didn’t sign autographs outside. I have a killer headache. â™ «Ã¢â„¢ ª

not sure if this was posted, but 606 posts are a lot to go thru to find out lol
his fans on twtter told him it was all good he didnt come out to sign autographs and hoped he feels better.

as for “Matt-Gate” I say we cut the kid a break, hes not an owl ,and we werent there to hear exactly how he said what he did. lets allow this one to go away .. quickly :)

  493. wow a lot happened on twitter while i slept. anyway not surprised at matt’s response at all. he’s that type , just from his interviews. hope he learnt his lesson. yes u can’t please everyone and u are definitely no one’s messenger but u must be careful with the words u use.
I hope Adam feels better by now. headaches can totally ruin ur plans. i just feel bad some people think he shld have sucked it up just to sign stuff. it really is an inconsiderate, intolerant and not so compassionate world out here.
And twitter istotally the devil. the topic 4 discussion today shld be kris’s new song. that has been over shadowed.

  494. @ria

“btw, ADAM IS GOOD that is why he has thousands of over-protective fans.”

Dare i say “more than good”? LOL!

They all want to be stars, don’t they, so hopefully, none of them will fall into the traps of fame. .

  496. Hi aa618892

I posted it on the Vancouver thread and didn’t get much response but it is the hottest one I’ve seen and it is close up.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m1zp9LmrPb0&feature=chann

Thanks! Always good to see another. I am overly (very) fascinated with how Adam wil change up his performances city to city. And I delight in finding evidence of how much Adam enjoys being able to do his performances his way. Mainstream… outside of the smaller venues of before. And the changes really show that he is singing/performing in the moment.

  497. Hee! I remember how badly Bucky and Kellie were savaged by the critics during their AI Tour and they went on to be two of the more successful Idols from their season.

Just goes to show you that everyone’s definition of success is different. I remember Kellie from the show and don’t remember Bucky at all. Never ever heard about them again in my part of the country.

  498. Just goes to show you that everyone’s definition of success is different. I remember Kellie from the show and don’t remember Bucky at all. Never ever heard about them again in my part of the country.

Well, that may very well be true. I’m only basing my assessment on the number of hit singles on the radio, the number of units moved and the fact that both of them got to do a second CD with their original label (Kellie’s is already out and Bucky’s will soon be out). I would not have predicted that during the tour based on reviews. That’s all I’m saying.

Being good on the AI Tour/Show is one thing. Putting out a CD people want to listen to and buy is another thing.

  499. Kellie and Bucky are successful country artists. They have both had numerous hits played on country radio. Kellie sold close to 800K albums with her debut if my numbers are right.

In terms of success for Idols it always comes down to radio play, album sales and single downloads no matter what the genre. And the more of each you have the bigger the success you are. Of course, there is critical and artistic success which has nothing to do with that. But in general 19R is there to make $. Idols who do not move units are pushed out the door very quickly.

(Bucky got even worse reviews than Pickler if I remember. I think my favorite was they Kellie should find a job as a stripper and Bucky go back to pumping gas as neither had a future in music.)
Mean reviews are kind of fun.

  500. But I have no idea what Kris’ religion has to do with anything when his set list includes The Beatles, Kanye West, The Killers and Matchbox Twenty.

    exactly! I know, right!

  501. Here is a review in the Globe and Mail on the Vancouver show:

    http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/arts/television/not-much-to-idolize-with-a-few-exceptions/article1214994/

She is so not a fan, that was one mean review.

what a stupid review!!!! ya it was one mean review and why bother going to a concert if you’re not planning on enjoying it! hopefully another unbiased review comes out soon

I think she’s comparing this to a professional concert, which I think is fair, considering that all these kids are intending to be professional, quite soon. Every single one of them seems to think they deserve a recording contract, and those aren’t handed out to amateurs (except by labels that hire the 15-year-olds to mold, of course). Seems to me that they can use a few reviews that use a professional standard, even if the particular standard the review is using might be a little *too* strict — show them what reality is.

I’ve known a *lot* of young people over the years who were aspiring musicians, at least as good as and in many cases way better than most of the current Idol crop, and on the rare occasions that they could even get a gig that included a review, they were held to very professional standards — and often judged to come up wanting — as they struggled to get those precious few recording contracts and significant gigs.

Just because people get all emotionally invested in these particular kids because they had them in their living rooms for a lot of nights doesn’t make them any more deserving of warm fuzzies from the actual music world than any of the other thousands and thousands of equally talented struggling kids out there. Furthermore, when they get the warm fuzzy reviews that would never be handed out to an equally competent young artist who *hadn’t* appeared on the show, it gives them a darned distorted view of the music business.

As for Bucky and Kellie and Jason Castro and some others who’ve gone on to rather big things after getting not so great reviews on the Idol tour, well, image has a lot to do with getting those recording contracts and so on, and they *all* have the looks and the “it factor” in some way. I’m pretty sure that if I went to a Kellie Pickler concert, I’d still think she’s a pretty mediocre singer. She has been darned mediocre in her Idol appearances, if you ask me. But I guess if you can parlay your looks and real/fake ditziness/stupidity or sex appeal into a career, then go for it. Neither I nor any music reviewer needs to think you’re a good singer just becase of that.

And on her bringing religion (and homosexuality) into the review: Well, she wasn’t commenting on that per se or judging Danny or Adam as good or bad because of any of that. She was writing a review that was meant for all readers, not just devoted Idol fans who already know all about that, so she was setting the scene of what had happened during the season — for readers who didn’t know the whole thing chapter and verse. If you’re writing a review of a show in a general publication or forum, you give background information to fill in all the people who don’t know that background already. Seemed to me a perfectly legitimate thing to mention, since Adam’s sexuality and the possible setup of a “reliious” counterpart to it in Danny (or Kris) was emphatically a part of the history of the show this year, as we all know too well (and general readers may not.)

  502. What do you think of [the] new song?

    I don’t think anything of a song I haven’t heard.

I know that you loved NB and seemed disappointed yesterday that it was being removed from the set.

To me, there are certain pop-culture traditions associated with American Idol and the American Idol tour. One is the new American Idol being crowned and signing the coronation song all summer long until his vocal chords have callouses. I mean, here we have the ultimate feel-good story — a small-town kid from a junior college in Arkansas who has climbed the mountain, made it through the pain, weathered the hurricane, gone higher and deeper — but, the fans of Sacramento were not given their opportunity to share in the celebration and relive the crowning moment when the new American Idol’s name is announced and the first chords of the coronation song ring out. I don’t think Idol is Idol without the cheese of the coronation song.

  503. Those are his first priority and imagine the insanity if he missed one of those!

    I totally agree LaurelG

  504. Adam had a heachache. Stop the presses!!!

Seriously, I would be disappointed if I went to the meet&greet and he wasn’t there. OTOH, how long would I spend with him? 30 seconds? No pics are allowed, right, so there would only be an autograph. You can get an autograph after his own concert tour, The Adam Lambert Experience Global Tour (yes, I”ve already named it! ;)).

These guys are singing their faces off, traveling, recording (Adam, Kris,, and probably Allison), and doing these m&gs. Maybe the smoke affected him, maybe the lights or the sound, or maybe he JUST HAD A MIGRANE. Who knows?

And yes, it seems that Adam changes up his set up a bit every night, so I hope that by the time he gets to Boston, he is still really into it (hope all are). Not sure how The Klllers cover was for Kris. From what I heard on Rickey’s underwater cell cast ;), it didn’t seem that great to me (the fit seems a bit, IMO) but I hope I’m wrong. Will wait for YouTube vids before I make any kind of call, of course.

And sorry I didn’t read all of the posts. I dont want to get a headache, too. ;)

  505. Love love Kris singing his new song!!!
It improves his set a lot!!!!
    Cheers… claps… :)

  506. I hate that one review.I dont think Kris doing hey jude or KILLER song is playing it safe.Clearly she has glitter on the brain.I mean really? The killer
is a rock band. They all wear makeup.Somehow kris singing a song by them
    is playing it safe????

  507. There are actually far more comments on this thread about “Matt-gate” than there were tweets about it. IMO it’s really a lot of ado about nothing and will be forgotten by tonight.

And twitter may be the devil but I found 6 twitters who complained about Adam not going to the signs vs. at 20 pages of tweets with #feelbetteradam.

Not sure how The Klllers cover was for Kris. From what I heard on Rickey’s underwater cell cast ;), it didn’t seem that great to me (the fit seems a bit, IMO) but I hope I’m wrong. Will wait for YouTube vids before I make any kind of call, of course.

YouTube video is out. I sure more will be posted but link is in MJ’s intro above. IMO if you like Kris’ style, you’ll love it. If you are not into Kris, you may not.

  508. Michael Johns also got overwhelming good reviews from the press in respect to the the AI tour along with many of his one off gigs. The reality is I think he may just be a better live artist than a recorded one, when he’s allowed free reign to do his thing, he didn’t showcase a fraction of his talent on the show, which happens to several peeps every season. In most cases it is a great thing to even better live and becoming rare in the days of auto tune, but you still need the sales to bring in the crowds, some artists and band build up the crowds and then get the sales but that’s the long hard road. I will remain hopeful.

I also have to agree with Globe and Mail chick in that, being a regular concert goer, I was put off by the people sitting like blobs in the AI crowd last year, especially since I thought just about everyone did a great job. I was pleasantly surprised myself by Chikezie and even, yes even KLC. My friend was told to sit down before the concert even started – they got the death stare from us and they gave us the death stare when we dared to get up and dance. The overall crowd in Toronto like Vancouver was loud but my section was mostly sitting down and you could tell who was dragged along vs wanting to be there. Not to say this doesn’t happen at regular concerts – and it’s usually people who won front row tickets from the radio stations which just makes the die hard fans pissed off. They are the ones sitting down whilst everyone is jumping up and down. Or spouses dragged along, bwah.

  509. I think the adam is a diva. This kinda proves itI wish his fans wouldnt defend him.So he had a headache? I bet kris and allison get headaches and they dont miss a meet and greet.Adam isnt the only busy one.Hes also not the only one with crazyfans and hes not the only one whos working hard for a november album.

The globe review of the concert isnt a serious one.I cant take any review seriously when they say choosing a killer cover is safe for someone like
    kris.

  510. Meet and greets…

You win an invitation….you pay extra on a premium ticket that includes meet and greet….you know a security guard that lets you in….you are a family member of another idol….you are a “fan club exec. that has some idol pull”.

Regardless….you have nothing that explicitly entitles you to interact with the idol of your choice. Same at the bus signings. And to expect anything is just setting yourself up for dissapointment (especially if you promise Kids that they can see, talk, etc. with their favs).

And for ANY idol to be held accountable for showing up and not doing what fans want or think they should be doing, or for ANY idol to be blasted for not showing up at all is way beyond an idols’ “call of duty”. They are getting paid to sing to their fans not to pander to them.

And for fans to be rude and disrupt a concert by leaving early so they can be closest to the fence for the after concert signing….that is the height of disrespect…not only to the other Idols but to the other fans. Poetic justice, I guess, for those fans to have their hopes dashed when their fav. was unable to come out and see them.

  511. From watching all the videos of the tour from Portland to Sacramento I think each of them are getting better and better.

Adam’s Bowie Medley is improving tremendously. He is getting more comfortable with it and I am liking it better each show.

His Whole lotta love is (as Paula would say) is a Whole lotta perfect.

I think Starlight is fantastic (this song gets better with each show and I think is fast becoming my favorite.) as is Mad World and Slow Ride(but I expect that from these two songs.)

From what I heard on the underwater cellcast from last night (LOL) Kris’s set flowed so much better with The Killers song instead of No Boundaries ( Though the No Bo song grew on me and have to admit I like it, but it did not work with his set) and to me Kris is sounding better and better each concert too and sounding more confident.

    Allison pure wonderful

Danny I think sounds good and I like him better then on the show.

All the rest doing a fine job and also improving each concert.

  512. The eclectic mix of Kris’s set just makes one even more intrigued as to what his album could be like, being a fan of all the artists he is covering now that NoBo is banished.

  513. jammasta:
“I’m not an Adam fan and you guys might kill me for this, but I found Adam’s Starlight incredibly boring.”

I have a completely opposite opinion. For me Muse’s version is just passionless.
Adam gives this song a true emotional vibe and that’s why I find it memorable.

    stargirl:
“I think the adam is a diva. This kinda proves itI wish his fans wouldnt defend him”.

I’m a Adam fan and you are right: not a single comment needed…

BTW, I’m a bit of surprised that there are hardly any vids from Sacramento.

  514. I think Adam had more than a headache. A more apt medical term would be a migraine and when it is a severe one you are immobile (I know cause I have them and go to the hospital for injections) and unable to concentrate let alone meet shrieking fans who mitigate it even more.

  515. You guys should take a step back and look at the whole picture. Adam Lambert is not god, he isn’t even a top recording artist. NO ONE but you cares, and you make it difficult for Adam to gain new fans with your ridiculous behavior. I am sure that he thanks you all.

I seriously doubt that any of all this chatter here matters an iota in the long run to his career or that of any of the others.

The ridiculous behaviour(if any?) stays on the internet and bloggersville….doesnt matter to anything…But I do enjoy reading it all, worth a chuckle or two.

  516. BTW, I’m a bit of surprised that there are hardly any vids from Sacramento.

I think Sacromento is still waking up from all the fuss last nite…:)

  517. I think the adam is a diva. This kinda proves itI wish his fans wouldnt defend him.So he had a headache? I bet kris and allison get headaches and they dont miss a meet and greet.

If it were Kris who had the headache and decided to skip signings, his fans would defend him as well and I (a die-hard Adam fan) wouldn’t think ill of Kris or call him a diva for needing to get away from the noise and lights and take care of himself. I know that when I get a severe headache, all I want to do is plug my ears and close my eyes. They can really drain the personality and ability to socialize right out of you. I’m sure that everyone has experienced a need to hold-your-head kind of headache. How about we give the guy a break – I know that expectations are high, but he IS only human.

The thing is is that none of us are Adam .. so we don’t know if his headache was just a minor “heavy head” or a “blinding migraine” so it’s not really our place to say whether he was well enough of not to meet a bunch of screaming fans. He said it was a “killer headache” so I sense that it wasn’t just a mild one. Who knows how the other idols would cope or react if they were suffering the same thing .. none of us know .. unless we are actually them.

Also as far as Matt-gate is concerned .. if they were the words that Matt used then it probably wasn’t the best thing to say but these kids are just learning how to cope with this sort of OTT fanatical attention and they’re bound to make mistakes.

Personaly I think that security or other AI staff should be collecting up gifts, letters etc for those idols who aren’t out at the buses and taking them back to them and the other idols shouldn’t be bothered with that kind of stuff even though it doesn’t seem much of a big deal to pick up a note and take it to Adam … once you start you’ll be bombarded …lol

  519. I don’t post a lot but when I do it is when something really motivates me. In this case, I have to strongly defend any performer’s right to NOT come out for autographs, etc. before or after a performance. It is their JOB and are being PAID to perform at the top of their game on stage every show. If anything puts them a jeopardy from giving 110%, they need to do whatever it takes to take care of themselves. I don’t have the time to read every post to see what happened with MATT, but I did see Adam’s tweet and see that he did not feel well last night. Adam owes it to the tour and to his fans at future venues to east, rest, etc and NOT worry about signing autographs. Frankly, I wish AI would make an announcement at the start of EVERY show that, while the idols love meeting and greeting their fans, there may be cases where they will not be able to do so, and to please understand… That should be a given, but clearly it isn’t…

    Peace

I agree with this 110 percent.

The buses are an added bonus but by no means an obligation. Sadly some fans have come to expect it as part of the show when it’s not.

..and do not get me going on those who are rude enough to leave the show early to get to the front of the line….. :mad_tb:

  521. I’ve watched a few videos of Adam signing autographs after the show, and I have to say, I’m amazed at how calm he is in the midst of all that chaos. If that were me, I’d get so flustered and cranky, I wouldn’t be able to deal with it. I don’t blame him for not wanting to experience what that madness would be like coupled with a pounding headache. I can definitely understand the fans’ disappointment, though.

Anyway, having watched a couple of videos of Adam’s performances from last night, it doesn’t appear to me that his headache affected the quality of his set, and that’s the most important thing.

  522. Well said, karenw.
Anyway, by tomorrow, both stories will be forgotten..

LisaE, thank you for the link. The quality is very good, and I love love the performance

  523. I don’t think this is good enough to submit as an official review, so I’ll just cut and paste in the blog.

My Idol adventure began before arriving at Arco. My daughter has a friend in Sac and we met her at a popular pizza place near Arco. The place was packed. It was an hour plus wait for a table, and we only had 30 minutes. By a stroke of luck, we found seats at the bar. The bartender asked the man next to me if he was going to the concert tonight, and he said no. He said almost everyone here is going to some concert. As I gazed around the room, I noticed fan t-shirts and a few people with added streaks in their hair. It set the mood.

My daughter was my barometer for the evening. I was a bit giddy during appetizers, and she remarked that she felt like a mom taking her 16 year old to a concert. Payback, sweetie. ☠º

We got to our seats on the second tier just in time. The view wasn’t as bad as I imagined although we had to look at the large monitors overhead if we wanted to see faces.

I want to preface all this with the fact that I personally feel all of these kids have a dream and singing is one of them. I don’t really have the heart to give negative reviews to any of the kids. However, Bandzilla was in full glory and I really wished I had purchased the special earplugs that someone mentioned on this blog. Ouch!

With a few exceptions, I think each performer got better as the show progressed, and the voting this year was pretty right on.

Michael provided a decent start and got the audience prepped. He dedicated his second song to his wife, and I heard a few awwwws in the audience. I love Megan’s tone, and really hope she can pull it all together one day because it is quite unique. I enjoyed Scott’s performance, and I noticed my daughter smiling at his jokes. I’d be interested in hearing some of his original music. Not a bad start.

Crowd energy definitely increased with Lil’s set. Single Ladies with the karaoke opportunity was brilliant. It was the first appearance of my daughter’s camera. Apparently, my other daughter, who lives on the East Coast, loves that song. Lil is a great performer. My more audible appreciation of performances began here.

The smooth quality of Anoop’s voice, as well as his sense of humor, was alive and well tonight. I couldn’t help but join in the chorus of Anooooop after his set.

While they all sounded better in person, I was not prepared for Matt. He blew me away. His piano skills are incredible, and his soul shone through particularly during Georgia. He’s got skills for sure, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets signed next.

Allison killed all three songs and set the place on fire. I was a little worried during the first song because there were a couple of places where her voice seemed strained, but that wasn’t the case for Cry Baby and Barracuda. This is where my dancing began. My barometer daughter came away thrilled that Allison was signed is now anticipating her album release along with me. At the end, the scream-o-meter was decent not at the end of the dial where it should be for bringing the house down so I added mine. I’m a quiet person and usually avoid bringing too much attention to myself, but Allison was worth it!

I would say Sacramento had its share of Danny fans. We were right next to avid Danny fans who sang along to his every word and helped propel that scream-o-meter. There were times on the show where I loved Danny’s voice, but bandzilla was active throughout much of his set too. There were a lot of awwwws and ohhhhhs during his little sermon.

Immediately following Danny’s last song and mega appreciation, the stomping began. And, then, 5-4-3-2-1 A-D-A-M, Adam exploded out onto the stage with WLL, and my spontaneous screaming began. I’m almost embarrassed this morning because as I said before, I’m not a screamer, but it was Adam, and he was living up to all my expectations and then some. What I have always loved first and foremost is his amazing voice. Yes, he’s gorgeous and sexy and sometimes I join in making comments on this blog for fun, but it has truly been and remains all about his incredible voice and performance skills for me. I do think he has the ability to make others feel sexy, but it isn’t necessarily directed back at him or anyone else for that matter. It just is. But, I must admit I caught myself melting and swooning during Starlight and Mad World. I think my lips were moving along to the songs. I wanted to close my eyes breath those two songs in but I didn’t want to miss one second of the performance. My own inner slinky awakened during the Bowie medley. I loved it all. It went by quickly and seemed like a dream. It still seems that way this morning. I will be going to his first concert, and I will have better seats. My daughter loved him too, and I have no doubt she was being honest because she screamed too.

Kris is amazing. I can’t imagine anyone other than he or perhaps Allison being able to follow Adam. Kris’s lovely voice and skillful guitar and piano hold up on their own during his softer songs, but The Killers song really helps pull and keep the audience in. Perfect choice! It was great and will only get better. I added a scream or two for Kris too. And, while I doubt she’d admit it, I caught my daughter swooning during Kris’s set.

Overall, it’s definitely worth attending. All fans can be proud of their favorites.

As I mentioned last night, my daughter who is the photographer of the family has pics and vids, and I HOPE to have them for you sometime today. My daughter is working today, so I can’t promise.

  524. Thanks for the vids guys! i was wondering where all the coverage was.

So is there a show on today? San Francisco?

I think by next week, give or take a few more youtube vids..I’ll be done, cant see myself watching videos of them singing the same songs over and over

  525. I love Kris’s new song! He was amazing! I’m so glad that he doesn’t have to sing No Bo No more! and he looked really pleased as well! Can’t wait for his debut album!

  526. Go Kris!

Much much better than NOB — though nearly any half way decent tune is a big improvement! He sounds like he’s digging this.

And if I’m hearing right on the youtube clip, the refrain is “I’ve got soul, but I’m not a soldier!”

Kris is really thoughtful about the lyrics, and you can feel the passion here — and see the church song leader getting everything into it! HIs voice sounds so strong and clear too….

  527. I haven’t read all pages yet but does anyone know if the new song is the song Kris will be singing for the rest of the tour or is it the “Fill-in” song? I have never herd the song before and from the videos it was just “OK”.. Maybe it’s better live..

  528. Michael Johns also got overwhelming good reviews from the press in respect to the the AI tour along with many of his one off gigs. The reality is I think he may just be a better live artist than a recorded one,

Maybe so. But it’s the so-so songs that make his album less than exciting for me. Taylor is also a lot better as a performing artist than a recording artist, probably for the same reason.

Not everyone can write songs, even they’re good singers! And one of the things that should be remembered, is that many of the songs they cover on the show are tunes they really love as do many other people.

To avoid all-cover albums, though, I wish there was a “song tank” where the best lyricists and composers on the scene would tailor stuff to particular artist, like the Brill Building did. Carol King & her husband wrote hundreds of hits for dozens of groups (“The Locomotion” for Little Eva, “Do You Still Love Me Tomorrow” etc) as did Leiber and Stoller (“On Broadway, etc.).

    We need this today!!!

  529. I watched Kris’s version of ATTTID and it was alright. He kinda softened it up a bit and took the edge off compared to the Killer’s. Orig still better.

  530. Re: The (largely) negative review about last night’s show. Reviews are an opinion, and everyone has the right to one of those. What, if anything, gives the reviewer’s opinion any more weight than the (wo)man on the street’s is that he or she may be more experienced in the field and might have a little more knowledge or insight about the subject. Still, it is an opinion, and won’t create world peace or cure the common cold or anything to that magnitude. Yes, lots of bad reviews could hurt a career – but if you have lots of people agreeing about something there may indeed be reason. Any reviewer has the right to hold and state his or her opinion in the medium in which he or she is paid to do so. As long as he/she is getting the cold hard facts correct, they deserve the respect in voicing their opinion – even if it is not one in which the reader agrees. The reader’s subjective response doesn’t make the writer’s subjective post anymore correct or incorrect.

  531. pererau is still getting flack about this Matt situation.

pererauI’m sorry, I created such controversy. Matt wasn’t my favorite contestant, but I am not the kind of person who would ever wish ill on anyone

  532. Sorry… Impossible to read all 650 posts before posting myself…

‘All These Things that I Have Done’ : What a perfect choice. I’ve loved that song for years. He’s in my brain with song choices.

Kris has always done an amazing job of picking songs – with the exception of that one pit song – I have always hated that song myself. It would have been nice if he could have saved it somehow like he did Heartless.

    I’m so happy for him!

  533. As for the Matt comment, I said last night that I hope Matt becomes aware of the whole story, it looks like he did. He twittered his response, the original twitterer posted the whole story ( and apologized to Matt for making folks think badly of him) I doubt any more can or will be done about this.

As for signing autographs. giving gifts, etc. outside the bus, I am with those who say that fans should consider it a bonus, not a right, to get their idol’s attention. As someone who once worked in the industry, I can say that fans should be happy when folks take time way from their busy schedules to sign things or collect items that will in all likelihood be forgotten within a matter of hours if not minutes. I think Adam did have a headache that kept him from signing. But what if he has suddenly had an idea for the new CD or had only a few minutes to contact someone in the industry about an upcoming project? Wouldn’t he be making his fans happier in the long run if he concentrated on putting out a better product for them to enjoy?

  534. If Matt did say ‘he wasn’t a messinger’ he’d be my new hero. Because I don’t understand the whole waiting after the show to get them to sign things and giving them letters or gifts.

Co-sign and AMEN!! AI fans are the most entitled bunch out there. They want recognition for sending gifts during the season. Then, they want the contestants at their beck and call when they first get to the arena. God forbid should any of the AIers not come out or happen to miss somebody in the autograph line! Then they want their puffy paint signs recognized during the show and they’ll hold ’em up all show long if that is what it takes. Then after the AIers are tired and maybe drained they want and expect them to show up at the barricades after the show to sign autographs, accept gifts, pose for pictures, and basically be trained monkeys. It’s BS. A concert ticket entitles one to a concert, nothing else. The extras AI gives the fans go above and beyond what they paid for. If the occasional little girl can’t get a letter to Adam or whomever, oh well. Mail the letter to 19 or something. Expecting Matt or Danny or any of the others to play delivery boy when they’ve got a rowdy crowd of 1000 people or so that they are trying to please is ridiculous.
