American Idol Ratings –

Nielsen fast overnight ratings from Marc Berman:

-Ratings Breakdown:
Led by American Idol, it was no contest with Fox the network to beat on Wednesday. Tied for the No. 2 spot was ABC (in adults 18-49) and CBS (in total viewers). NBC finished a distant fourth overall, followed by the CW.

American Idol kicked-off the evening for Fox with 24.39 million viewers and an 8.9 rating/24 share among adults 18-49 from 8-9 p.m. Comparably, that beat the four competing networks combined.

Last night beat last year’s results show: 23.4M viewers, 8.5/22 rating share, but it’s not comparable, because The Top 24 format had 2 performance shows on Tuesday and Wednesday, and the results show on a Thursday–a night not typically reserved for Idol.
