American Idol and Cover Nation announce VIP Pass cover contest
American Idol is partnering with Cover Nation to hold a VIP Pass Cover Contest.
The contest winners will nab an exclusive virtual mentoring session with an American Idol producer and a no-wait virtual American Idol priority audition. Five winners will be selected.
Contestant entrants can choose from five featured contest songs listed below. Upload the cover to YouTube, TikTok, or Instagram on public between August 25 through October 9, 2023. Next, submit your entry via the contest form HERE by October 9, 2023 at 11:59pm EST. Use the contest hashtag #americanidol7covercontest in your video description box.
Cover Nation will select the winning entrants on or about October 16, 2023! The contest winner will be announced publicly on or about October 23, 2023 via a “Best of Contest” compilation video hosted on the Cover Nation YouTube channel.

Benson Boone is a former American Idol contestant who dropped out during the 2021 season. “I’m Yours” is a classic singing show cover son. Like most of the “Fast Car” covers will be countrified. It’s only on this list because of Luke Combs’ recent viral cover

Judging criteria:
- 75% Vocal Performance
- 25% Originality of Performance
Contest entrants must be born after June 2, 1994 and before February 15, 2009 and must be a legal resident of the US to be eligible.
How to audition for American Idol producers
Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and host Ryan Seacrest are all returning to American Idol in 2024. The quartet returns to help discover America’s next singing sensation for season 22 (Season 7 on ABC).
American Idol producers are still scheduling “Idol Across America Auditions” through at least September 8.
