Alex Preston headed home to New Hampshire to be celebrated by his friends, fans and family for his American Idol 13 Top 3 Hometown visit.
Alex stopped at Town Hall in Mont Vernon, where the Governor of New Hampshire met him to congratulate the singer and declare it Alex Preston Day in the state.
“It means so much that I can actually be here in person to thank you guys for all of the support you have been giving me,” Alex told the crowd before singing “Fairytales” and “A-Team.”
Alex also sang for a large crowd at his alma mater, Souhegan High School.
“This is absolutely insane that the whole town came out to support me. It is absolutely crazy,” said Preston, who was joined by his parents and siblings.
UPDATE: 3,000 people attended the parade. 7,000 the concert at the Whittemore center at UNH. More at Fosters.com

Later, there was a parade and concert at the University of New Hampshire at Durham. I attended both. I got a few instagrams of the parade. There was a marching band, color guard, cheerleaders, and Alex and his family riding atop a car.
After, he performed a full blown concert, with a full band (consisting of high school friends) He sang NINE songs, including a couple of originals. His cousin, country star, Jo Dee Messina surprised him on stage during “Story of My Life.” That was very sweet!
There were breaks between songs. You never forgot they were filming for a TV show. At a couple of points, Alex cued the crowd to SCREAM REAL LOUD, one time waving white sheets of paper, so the FOX cameras could film it.
But the concert was REALLY good. His friends are also good musicians. Some songs were 5+ minutes long, as you will see here! I captured the entire concert. The entire time, he looked so grateful, happy and a little overwhelmed!
