American Idol 10 Top 7 Results – Recap Roundup

‘Something Pitchy:’ Bye, Bye Stefano, Hello Carole King?!

What a totally random results show tonight! On the one hand, things were a bit predictable with another painful group number, courtesy of Haley, Stefano, Jacob, Lauren and Train. And word that Stefano would heading back to Kent, Washington came as no surprise, either. On the other hand, we get to watch the Idol’s go bowling and get facials, prior to learning that they’ll be tackling the song book of Carole King, next week. We’ll see what good manicures and 7-10 splits are to you then!

‘American Idol’: The Stefano and James bromance, and tweens! tweens! tweens! on the scene of Top 7 results night

After Ryan delivered the bad news, James kept his head buried in his hands pretty much until he tackled Stefano at the end of his farewell song. As the final credits played and the judges came up to say their farewells, James pulled away again, enfolding his face once more with his hands; he left the stage completely before the 19 Entertainment logo pops had even played. James was far from the only one sad to see Stefano — it felt like anyone working on the show tried to make their way to the kid for a farewell hug. As he left the stage, Cory said into his mic, “Say goodbye to Stefano everyone!” The seventh place finisher turned back to the audience, and began pumping his arms in an effort to get the audience on their feet for one last Idoldome standing ovation. Everyone seemed more than happy to oblige.

‘American Idol’ Elimination Night: 25 Things You Didn’t See on Thursday’s Show

23. With Haley sent back to safety, it’s down to Jacob and Stefano. Back on the couches, James clasps his hands over his face anticipating the verdict.

24. When Ryan calls Stefano’s name, James breaks down crying. Lauren tries, however ineffectively, to console by holding onto his arm. James can barely get it together for the last shots of the night, as he wipes tears from his eyes and makes his way to the stage for Stefano’s last goodbye.

Live at American Idol: Why Did James Durbin Storm Offstage After the Show?

After Haley Reinhart was sent to safety and the show cut to commercial, Jacob Lusk didn’t seem to know what to do. If he wasn’t fidgeting in his chair or pacing around the Idol stage ignoring the screaming fans, he looked dazed, confused and totally lost that he was thisclose to losing his shot at Idol glory. Stefano, on the other hand, was totally relaxed. It seemed like he knew what was coming: He took time to hug Idol’s stage manager and other production people and even wandered over to the couches where he and James embraced in one big, fat, bro hug. It was really cute and actually made us a little sad.

American Idol Recap: Seventh Sealed

The role call of seventh-place finishers on American Idol ranges from the back-to-back eyes-wide-open nightmares of Sanjaya Malakar and Kristy Lee Cook in Seasons 6 and 7 to the remarkable success story of Season 3 Wild Card Jennifer Hudson, who overcame the Pepto-Bismol Dress From Hell to scale Oscar- and Grammy-winning heights. In between those two extremes, though, the not-so-lucky No. 7 spot has been occupied by singers who showed early promise, then flamed out (Anwar Robinson, Kimberly Caldwell) and those whose “package artist” good looks carried them further than their vocal abilities might’ve otherwise suggested (Ryan Starr, Tim Urban, Ace Young). (Nope, I’m not mentioning Season 8?s Anoop Desai and Lil Rounds, who technically tied for sixth.)

‘American Idol’ recap: Arrivederci, Amigo

Thanks to J. Lo for succinctly summing up the season 10 run of Stefano Langone, the increasingly likable half-Italian, half-Spanish, smiling chocolate chunk cookie of a young man who was voted out on last night’s American Idol. I’m not surprised at America’s choice, but this lil’ wild card had been improving and was just a funny kid to have around. I liked how he couldn’t stop wobbling back and forth with emotion during his Idol Journey clip show. What I liked even more was that after all that and despite his utter disappointment, Stefano could not wait to sing.

“1 Of 7 Voted Off”

Finally, tonight we got the bottom two I’ve been hoping for, only I wish it happened about three or four weeks ago. Ah, well. If Katy Perry’s performance proved anything tonight, it’s that you don’t really need to sing, as long as you have a lot of neat-o flashing lights.

It was such a straightforward results show I am tempted to fill up some space by talking about other things. Have you read Bossypants? When will it finally be warm? What are you doing for Easter? Oh really? Well I guess we should get to the part I’m here for.

Stefano Langone Eliminated From ‘American Idol’

Wednesday night’s “Music of the 21st Century” wasn’t kind to most of the “American Idol” contestants, but even with a few missteps, host Ryan Seacrest revealed on Thursday’s (April 21) results show that more than 52 million votes were cast for the top seven.

After an unrelenting march of early female departures, the remaining two ladies were safe for a second week, though Haley Reinhart did land in the bottom three again, if only for a moment before being ushered back to safety. That left often-on-the-brink wild card Stefano Langone and Jacob Lusk sweating out their fate by hour’s end.

‘American Idol’: Who Was Eliminated?

The “American Idol” seven is now six. It was down to just two bottom vote getters: Jacob Lusk and Stefano Langone. Ryan Seacrest announced Haley was in the bottom three, but within seconds he let her off the hook and told her she was safe.

‘American Idol’ 2011: Stefano’s number is up

More than 52 million votes were cast this week after Wednesday’s “American Idol” performance night, raves show host Ryan Seacrest at the start of Thursday night’s results show. Sure, it’s fewer votes than last week, but you get his point. Adding online voting works!

Judge Randy Jackson is dressed for the occasion in an American flag T-shirt that’s missing some stars – apparently he got bad reviews in Alaska and Hawaii.

American Idol Sends Stefano Langone Packing

Last night’s American Idol could have been subtitled A Series Of Unfortunate Events, although perhaps the call-out to the unconventional spelling of Se7en should have been a hint that something resembling a grisly horror show was about to unfold. Here are six particularly cringe-inducing things that transpired.

6. The first sung line of the night was about blowjobs. At the end of last year I was part of a team that declared Train’s “Hey, Soul Sister” the worst song of 2010, and that judgment was only upheld last night, when Jacob Lusk, Stefano Langone, Haley Reinhart, and Lauren Alaina did a clattery cover of the track. To his credit, Jacob looked pretty humiliated when he sang about lipstick stains on left side brains (seriously how does this song persist on every adult-contemporary radio station), but his awkward look didn’t, unfortunately, come with a mute button.
