When Adam Lambert sat down on the X Factor Australia judges panel alongside rapper Iggy Azalea and Australian Idol winner Guy Sebastian he knew what he was looking for, and it wasn’t necessarily perfection.
“Even if an audition is not perfect, you can see a glimmer of something genius,” the American Idol singer said in a brand new promo for the upcoming series. “There’s a moment they have when you’re like, ooh. Or I get a feeling. Maybe I’ll get goosebumps. There’s an instinctual trigger that I can’t ignore.”
In a clip from the auditions, Adam gives props to a hopeful for staying true to who they are. It’s a trait the unconventional singer can appreciate.
“You represent everything this next generation is,” said Adam to a hopeful. “People saying I’m not going to conform, I’m not going to be one thing. I’m just going to be me.”
Host Jason Dundee said in a recent interview that Adam, who knows his way around a talent competition, is the most “cutthroat” of the three, yet Adam’s honesty is a good thing. Jason said that out of the three judges, he’s “Team Adam.”
