Adam Lambert Single Radio Release Date

CORRECTION: I’m hearing that the release date information posted at FMQB is WRONG.   There’s no information available yet on the actual release date.

According to FMQB, the radio release date for Adam Lambert’s debut single from his upcoming album is 10/12.

The single hasn’t been officially announced yet, but there is a lot of speculation around a song called “Strut”, Adam co-wrote with Idol judge, Kara DioGuardi.   A reporter at Rolling Stone has heard it and described the song as “a Depeche Mode-meets-Queen self-empowerment anthem that highlights Lambert’s range.”

Adam’s debut album is set to be released by 19R/RCA on November 24th

  1. There is simply too much excitement today to handle. *thud*

Would like to know what song it’s going to be. I would also bet Strut but Adam likes to tease. However, RCA doesn’t, so it will probably be Strut.

  2. NVM- I put the new article by USA Today in the Headlines Thread.

October 12th, huh? Are we going to get a leak/ snippet or not?????

  3. I have a feeling the person at Rolling Stone is mixing up the first Album release with the 2012 song. I find it odd that the description for both songs are basically the same. I think editing of the article went from the “Strut” Song but was describing the 2012 song which is the song that supposedly radio station have now. Just my take.

  4. There are a lot of posts online and tweets that Top 40 radio stations have Adam’s 2012 song, “Time for Miracles” will be released for airplay shortly. Has anyone seen anything “official” about this?

Not me and I have been looking…..Will keep on looking too…Let you know if I find anything ;-)

ETA: I found this link which talks about the 2012 song Time for Miracles and its being released mid October. So this info might be about that song

  6. EEEEEKKK!! This is getting exciting!! But it will be a long 3 1/2 weeks unless there is a “leak” soon. I’ll take 23 seconds, if that’s all I can get, but I’d love to get a hint of what it will sound like.

  7. According to that FMQB website, there is no title for Adam’s song that will be released on the 12th. He is the only one without a title :( Maybe they are deciding which to release first?

    http://www.fmqb.com/Article.asp?id=16691

BTW_ They have on the same website that Jason’s new song will be released on October 5th for airplay and both are under the “Mainstream” heading.

  8. Urrgh October can’t come soon enough. It’s my birthday month too so I.demands.presents (Sorry I know entitlement isn’t sexy!)

  9. I have a feeling the person at Rolling Stone is mixing up the first Album release with the 2012 song.

If this is the 2012 song that’s going to be released on 10/12 how come they don’t have the title listed? Everyone knows the title of that one.

  10. Someone made a good point that if the song was “Time For Miracles” then the song title would have been listed on the web site – since everyone knows about it already.

I’m crossing my fingers for a “leak” by next week! COME ON Perez Hilton!! Do what you do best!!!!

  11. Strut, heh.

I’ve only got ONE thing to say.

    You. better. WORK.

    (RuPaul anyone?)

    sashay, shante, shante shante shante!

  12. Playing hooky on conference call….

    Glitter carpetbag out of storage?

    Yea/nay.

For those of you going WTF, you obviously missed the final tour thread! If you’re interested, find page 3 of the “American Idols Live – Manchester, NH – 9/15/09” thread, or just click here . Scroll down a quarter-page.

If yea, feel free to recommend items, or the lollypops can be brought back.

Crap. Going back to pay attention to RL

No, I think that RS got it right — but they never said that “Strut” would be a single, just that it was a track on Adam’s album. The RS article had specific quotes from Adam about “Strut”. RS reported Adam saying: “I love that stuff that makes you feel sexy, puts you in a good mood.” and
“The song is supposed to be a confidence booster. The message is ‘be yourself. Let it all hang out’.” RS described ‘Strut’ as sounding like “a Depeche Mode – meets – Queen self-empowerment anthem that highlights Lambert’s range.”

The 2012 song has been decribed by Adam, Brian May and others as a classic rock ballad. Here are Adam’s recent tweets about his single and the 2012 song:

ADAMLAMBERT: @Pacomarj Is the 2012 song your single or will you have a separate single? My first single will be from my album. 2012 song is for the film.
8:15 PM Sep 12th from web in reply to Pacomarj

ADAMLAMBERT:RT @Melissa4Adam: @adamlambert Brian May is raving about your song for 2012. What kind of sound is it? Classic rock ballad.Earthy and catchy
8:49 PM Sep 4th from Echofon

So my take — “Strut” is a contemporary pop/rock anthem (Depeche Mode and Queen = electrontic power rock), and the 2012 song is a classic rock power ballad (Meatloaf band accompanied it = classic power rock).

So it looks like Adam will have two single out in October. I think that will be an Idol finalist first — a finalist with two singles released between the end of the tour and the Album release.

ETA: There are many reports that “Time For Miracles” has already been sent to radio stations. I haven’t seen an official date yet, but radio stations do not get songs 3-1/2 weeks in advance of the airdate. So 10/12/09 must be for the album single. About the right date for a 11/24/09 album release.

I am not saying I was 100% correct just voicing my opinion on the fact that talks about release dates for both seem to be around the same time and descriptions of both songs seem to be roughly the same. Q3 did offer a viable answer to my thoughts so maybe they are different. I was just thinking that one song would be rock and the other would be more a dance song along the lines of Laday Gaga. But the most important conclusion is I hope they are both coming out and I will love to hear both songs regardless of what genre they are in.

Urrgh October can’t come soon enough. It’s my birthday month too so I.demands.presents (Sorry I know entitlement isn’t sexy!)

I just realized that it’s coming out on midnight of my birthday — which is 10/11 — so I guess I know what I will be buying myself!! Guess I need to have a par-tay this year!

  16. IMO…whatever the song may be…..that is some DAMN exciting news!

  17. 10/12 would be just over a month before the release of ‘2012’ which is about right for the time that a song from a movie is usually released in advance of.

I just realized that it’s coming out on midnight of my birthday ‘” which is 10/11 ‘” so I guess I know what I will be buying myself!! Guess I need to have a par-tay this year!

Lucky you. I’d probably have to depend on illegal downloads while I import it from Amazon, else order it through a local cd store in Singapore. Either way it’ll probably take 2 weeks? Hope I can get it before my birthday on Halloween (yes I’m born on Adam’s fav day of the year LOL)

  19. Just logged on and the first headline I see is this. My heart dropped to my knees. I don’t care which song. I’m strapping in and getting ready for the ride.

  20. I just released that just because the date for Mainstream Top 40 Adds is October 12th doesn’t mean that the song won’t be our before then.

The last RCA/19 Recordings Idol release was David Cook — and here’s that schedule:

9/23/09 – “Light On” available for radio airplay

9/30/09 – iTunes and Amazon release

10/13/09 – Officially went for adds on Mainstream Top 40, AC and Rock radio

Bet money that Adam’s album single is released for sale and radio before 10/12/09!!

ETA: These dates are from David Cook’s wiki page so may not be accurate. Please correct me if I am mistaken. I did confirm the iTunes and Amazon release dates are correct.

  21. I don’t have a good feeling about two songs being sent to radio at practically the same time. I feel like a couple scenarios could arise from this: either one is liked more by the listeners and thus gets favored by radio, or possibly (but really hopefully not) they both kind of compete with each other and don’t perform spectacularly, until they both go on the decline. The likelihood of both rising to the top of radio is just next to nothing, unless maybe they both have really short peak periods. They should just stick with one, seriously.

  22. Wow, the possibility of 2 new songs in a 3 week period of time- knees shaking with excitement!!

Goodness, not ONE person could get a video of the Ford event!! Epic Fail!!!

  23. When is Kris’s add date? How many weeks before the add date would this Monday be? This might give us an idea of a timetable.

HSM: My lolly flavor will have to change. The old one was for AI concerts only. Sniff-Sniff
From here on out I would like a rainbow flavored lollypop, please.

  24. Not to burst everyones bubble here, but “Don’t Want To Miss A Thing” was released (8/18/98) over a month AFTER Armageddon (7/1/98) came out in theaters, so it’s possible Time For Miracles won’t be out until December.

Another thought- you would think they would not release STRUT until the AI season was in full swing. That way Adam could come on the show AND promote Kara’s song at the same time, so STRUT might not evem be the first single.

The good news is TWO songs from Adam by Christmas :)

  25. Personally, I can wait for “Time For Miracles”. I wouldn’t mind if they hold off on THAT one until November and release it simultaneously with the movie premiere.

ETA: This how I would prefer “Time for Miracles” to go down

    1) Use it in the TV Commercials and Movie Trailers the month or so leading up to the movie premiere

    2) Make it available for sale on iTunes AFTER the movie premieres (along with a music video)

  26. When is Kris’s add date? How many weeks before the add date would this Monday be? This might give us an idea of a timetable.

Strangely enough, they don’t have Kris’ add date. On the other hand, Jason Castro’s single is going to adds on October 5. That’s been available for a couple of weeks, now. So, who knows? Maybe we’ll get to hear and purchase Adam’s song the week after Kris’ debut on Monday. Since their albums are being released a week apart, I can see the same thing happening with the singles.

  27. Howzit, guys.

I may end up eating my words, but I doubt Strut will be the first single. The fact that Adam talked about what he happened to be working on at the time means nothing as it pertains to what will be released first.
I’ll believe it when I see something more specific.

that said, YIPEEEEEE!!! A release date!!!!
I don’t CARE what it is– I just can’t wait!!!!

  28. Studio57: Not to burst everyones bubble here, but ‘Don’t Want To Miss A Thing’ was released (8/18/98) over a month AFTER Armageddon (7/1/98) came out in theaters, so it’s possible Time For Miracles won’t be out until December.

Possible but not likely. There are too many reports that radio stations already have TFM and also now some reports that it is also in a promo video for the movie. NONE CONFIRMED!!

I also don’t think it’s a comparable situation. No one expected “Don’t Want To Miss A Thing” to be a big hit. It wasn’t even listed on the movie posters.

I think that “Time for Miracles” is more like “My Heart Will Go On” which was released December 8, 1997. The movie, “Titanic” was released on December 19, 1997.

IAC I just hope TFM sells half as well as either of these two movie songs! Both #1 hits.

I was wondering about the wisdom of that myself.

  30. From what I understand the rumor about radio stations having “Time For Miracles” came from an anonymous post on ONTD_AI, and now people are spreading it around on Twitter. I wouldn’t trust that info at all. ONTD’s anon posts are full of wank and people pretending to ~know things~. And, Adam himself said his first single would be from his album, and TFM is for the movie.

  31. it would seem to me that to get the biggest bang for the 2012 buck Adam’s song should come out sooner rather than later — that, because they would likely want to hit it big before Nov. 20 when New Moon rears its pale, fanged head.

  32. Okay really???!!! An Adam thread with less than 40 cmments.embarrasing and pathethic really:(. And yes I like comments:). I understand there’s another Adam thread but this is…

if u talk about kris or in THIS case TOO MUCH about 2012 I will cut youuuu homiesD;haha do I actually need to say that;)

IN OTHER NEWS……I LOVE U.NO I HATE U.U KILLED ME FROM THE AWESOMENESS THAT IS ADAM.A RELEASE DATE .NO FRIGGIN WAY IF YOUVE READ MY POSTS U KNO IM A LITTLE EXCITED.BTW I THINK 67 DAYS I HVE TO CHECK.THIS IS AMAZING ABSOLUTELY MADE MY LIFE BRB MARKING MY CAKENDAR NO WAT NO WAY NOOO WAY IM IN SHOCK CANT BREATHE CRYING FLAILING SHAKNG HYPERVENTILATING OMA I MAY HAVE TO GO TO THE HOPITAL.I HAVENO WIRDS TO DESCRIBE HOW HAPPY I AM.MY FACE HURYS FRM SMILING:D

  33. Q3, when someone posted the rumor earlier today I went on Twitter and searched 2012, Adam Lambert, and Time For Miracles. I think there was maybe one Twitter stating that radio stations had it. That person had their twitter protected so I don’t even know exactly what that person said. The rest were just people going nuts about the one twitter.

    On the other hand:

Just an FYI- New Moon Soundtrack comes out October 13th. The first single by Death Cab For Cutie premiered on MTV September 13th, and the movie will be out November 20th.

  34. The TFM rumor is just that, a rumor and the fact that it seems to have been originated in a ONTDAI board is not very trustworthy, so until I hear more about it not goint to think about it.

Good to have a date for the single, I agree with everyone who says that we are going to have a leak before that.

  35. Good to have a date for the single, I agree with everyone who says that we are going to have a leak before that.

I’ll just ONTDAI ignore rumors for now and just be happy there is a frakking release date. WoooHooo. I will walk around today with a big smile on my face.

  36. I leave for a while and come back to this……..WONDERFUL NEWS!! And I, also, get to see Adam and Kris sing “Crazy”! WOW!

I need to go back and read the threads now.

  37. I am shell shocked. Too much Adam talk today. Head spinning. I just want music and videos. But yes, 2010 on 10/12 would be very apropos. ;)

Luv, I may have to take you to a meditation class with me. Hee hee.

  38. Someone please leak even a few seconds! Dying, Dying to hear it!!

  39. I am happy !!! I’m very very happy !!!
Need to save my allowance. October 12 seems so far away.
I’ll keep checking in here in case someone gets a hold of something.
    PLEASE !!!

  40. It’s a sad day in adamland(lol) if I have to ASK ppl to comment on an ADAM thread.um tsk tsk tsk

  41. Luv, everyone is over on the Ford Day thread because a you tube was posted of the duet and waiting to see if more videos show up!!!

  42. uh, oh, what’s with the retraction MJ?

You can’t just go crossing shit out and not ‘SPLAIN!!!

    J/K…….. :)

  43. CORRECTION: I’m hearing that the release date information posted at FMQB is WRONG. Just trust me on this.

I do!!! and am kind of glad too. Any reliable info on the release date MJ?

  44. LOL! Where, there goes this discussion!

Question for anyone who knows. When they have Jason Castro’s release down as October 5, is that also an error since his song is already out on iTunes and is getting spins?

  45. adamland
    September 18, 2009 at 5:06 pm
    That means it is sooner!?!?!?

Exactly my thinking. SOONER Pleazeee. !!!

  46. Because I am a half-empty person, I assumed LATER. Perhaps…earlier? ONE CAN HOPE!!!

  47. Well when IS it MJ? Did your ‘source’ give you a date?

Nope. Just that the date was incorrect. The information is coming from Adam’s rep. I know somebody who tried to confirm it, and the response was that the information was wrong, but no elaboration.

  48. I’m thinkihg it’s going to be released earlier as well. 10/12 is too far away. We need to hear the song now!

  49. Thanks MJ. I hope it comes out earlier. Like a week after Kris’s does.

  50. I’m thinkihg it’s going to be released earlier as well. 10/12 is too far away. We need to hear the song now!

It’s not like there is a lot of time until the 12, it’s less than a month away.
Wonder why FMQB thought it was that date tough.
Maybee the single will come later because they don’t know yet which song is the best to represent the album. They need something really good because the expectations are sky high.

  51. Well GAWT DAYUM! This just HAS to be the first single if it’s already going around!!

People I know who have heard Adam Lambert’s single Strut say it is a-m-a-z-i-n-g.

It looks like Strut is good Kara DioGuardi (I Do Not Hook Up) and not bad Kara DioGuardi (No Boundaries).

It seems like this is best single to come out of Idol’ ¦ ever. The anticipation is killing me. For those who have heard it, they have unanimously said this is fantastic, if not perfect for Adam Lambert.

    It’s Depeche Mode. It’s Queen. It’s Lady Gaga. It’s a vocal masterpiece.

    Please 19E release it already.

  52. PS. Aimee Mayo (songwriter who’s written for Kellie Pickler) tweeted that she’s heard the song already too. I have to think if the song is making the rounds in the industry that it’s going to be the first single.

  53. Any one else yet, snuffles? I don’t want to be crushed by another false alarm today!!

Well someone who saw the page said that it was first Oct. 5th and that literally it changed from when they checked it the first time, like a few minutes later, to Oct. 12th on the page. So maybe that’s what they’re referring to. Just an FYI.

  69. RE: Ricky’s post. I have two words for you. Rolling Stone. And I’ll just leave it at that, because off the record means something to me.

I’m here! Thanks for thinking of me, but are my posts invisible LOL.

  78. Maybe the people at the RS are saying something good when pressed because they don’t want to say anything bad.

  79. So we know for sure Strut is on the album, but we dont know for sure if its the first single?

Is that where we are currently at in this thread or can someone fill me in? Mucho thanks.

  80. I mean I’ve heard that if it lasts for more than four hours, it could be dangerous and they should contact their physician. Maybe that’s getting in the way of their being able to listen to Adam objectively. Just sayin
LOL! It took me a couple seconds but this is good, HaHa!

  81. anthrogeek: They’re hanging out over in the Ford thread’ ¦.. with most of us.

 Had to do evil work today and, since I have no access to YouTube in the office, did not need to be tempted by miserable Ford thread.

Since I’m still stuck on dial-up again today at home, the likelihood I’ll get to watch those vids any time soon is slight. It takes over two hours to download a freaking 3 minute vid on dial-up…and if it messes up in the middle you have to start again.

  82. RS dissed Muse’s Resistance album, so their opinion is suspect in everything EXCEPT Adam.
When it comes to Adam I choose to BELIEEEEEEEEEEEVE RS.

  83. Maybe the people at the RS are saying something good when pressed because they don’t want to say anything bad.

( /tries to rein in her uncontrollable excitement )

  84. Maybe the people at the RS are saying something good when pressed because they don’t want to say anything bad.

No, it’s a sincere appraisal. They really like it. No bull. I’m really interested to hear it myself now.

  85. Hmm, RS might be blinded by love ‘ ¦ or is it deafened by love?

Love…well you could use that term if you want, sure. Sometimes there is love involved. Okay.

  86. Maybe the people at the RS are saying something good when pressed because they don’t want to say anything bad.

Don’t think so, they just really really liked the song, must be why Adam’s photo was on the main page of their website for the fall album preview.

If Strut is this good, I could see RCA releasing it for radio airplay very fast.

Sunn and I are invisible’ ¦ Sunn! Suuuunnnnn!

I can see you just fine though, do you think we’re ghosts haunting this blog?

  88. Aimee Mayo

Isn’t she the person that has been tweeting Adam all summer, saying she wants to write a song for him?? I know she’s been mentioned before. People were joking because she’s a country music writer and was OTT in her pleas to write for him. Her tweets were really cute..lol.

  89. If Strut is this good, I could see RCA releasing it for radio airplay very fast.

Or it leaking pretty quickly as folks get copies to share :)

  90. And speaking of yet more crappy RL – my husband just called to say his car broke down on the highway. Must fetch.

NOTHING EPIC BETTER HAPPEN WHILE I’M GONE!!!!

  92. Or it leaking pretty quickly as folks get copies to share

I hope it doesn’t leak. We have to sustain the suspense, the more anticipated the single the more excellent buzz it receives.

I really hope it doesn’t leak.

  93. No, it’s a sincere appraisal. They really like it. No bull. I’m really interested to hear it myself now.

If even you are excited for the single MJ, this could be really good maybee even live up to the incredible hype.
Since when have you been this excited for an Idol release?

No, it’s a sincere appraisal. They really like it. No bull. I’m really interested to hear it myself now.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh!! *Trying to keep expectations under control. Not succeeding.*

I want to hear this RIGHT NOW!

  95. I’m seriously about to lose my mind. I have been absolutely USELESS at work today! LOL!

  96. It seems like this is best single to come out of Idol’ ¦ ever.

Inner dialogue after seeing that comment:

    “Whoooooo Hooooooo!!!!!!!

No, wait, remember, everyone says that the Idol singles are cr*p. NoBo was an Idol single…. And also written by Kara.

But, maybe this one will really, really be good!! Whooooo Hooooo!!!!!”

I’d be doing very premature victory laps around the house, but my 155 pound dog would be gleefully tackling me, so I’ll settle for yelling Whoooo Hooooo!!!!! (He’s deaf. He won’t tackle me if I yell.)

    Thank YOU! (we love you)

  98. Is it a little weird that Adam’s first single is co-written by him and Kris the singer/songwriter is doing a cover for his first single?

  99. No, it’s a sincere appraisal. They really like it. No bull. I’m really interested to hear it myself now.

Wow, really? I’m sloooowly getting excited. Looks like we might have some prison breakers this season. I liked Kris’ single, I think it was perfect for him. If Adam can have a great single too it would be awesome. And Allison in Sweden.

  100. Since when have you been this excited for an Idol release?

    Well, excited? Intensely curious! :).

  101. It seems like this is best single to come out of Idol’ ¦ ever.

Well like that’s hard. I mean, why not raise the bar a bit higher, like to the level of the Jonas Brothers at least.

  102. I really hope it doesn’t leak.

I’m hoping that they’ll leak it to me, (“oh, we thought that you were someone important. Our bad.”), and if that happens, I’ll promise not to share it with you, so you can maintain the suspense. :)

  103. snuffles do you have the twitter link to the tweet from the person who writes for Kelly Picker?

  104. Is it a little weird that Adam’s first single is co-written by him and Kris the singer/songwriter is doing a cover for his first single?

I had my stopwatch set for that one.

It’s going to be a loooong fall :(.

Well, as a first time AI watcher, it’s all so new and entertaining to me!

  107. Is it a little weird that Adam’s first single is co-written by him and Kris the singer/songwriter is doing a cover for his first single?

I don’t think that means a thing, other than that’s how the chips landed, (if we’re right about the singles.) But, I do hope that one interviewer is eating her words.

  108. Ummmmm’ ¦clarify for me. Rickey’s saying that??? You don’t think he’s trying to mess with the Glamberts heads as he’s fond of doing?

After the falling out between Rickey and most of Adam’s fan base that was my first thought. Sounds like he’s relaying something that’s coming from others though.

  109. But, I do hope that one interviewer is eating her words.

yinyang- I know- thats why I couldn’t help the snark. But I am going to stop now.

  110. I am just wondering if the folks at RS heard the song the day the photos for their last CD article were taken or if they heard the finished product. “Cause the last one is really the one that matters here.

  111. Well like that’s hard. I mean, why not raise the bar a bit higher, like to the level of the Jonas Brothers at least.

    Bwahahaha!

I’m still kinda going ??? at the thought of Kara writing a Depeche Mode type song. I just don’t…. Hmmm.

  112. No, wait, remember, everyone says that the Idol singles are cr*p. NoBo was an Idol single’ ¦. And also written by Kara.

….and that is what really makes me curious about this song…..Now I was expecting Adam’s voice on a song to be great but that the Rolling Stones staff is giving a great critique not only on Adam’s voice but on the song written by Kara as well, is what really has me baffled/curious/intrigued.

  113. As if I wasn’t jumping out of my skin before…sheesh! Going absolutely crazy! Can not wait!

Its going to be ugly if Strut is anything short of Amazing. Good luck, Adam.

But according to who though? Everyone’s taste in music is going to be different and opinions are going to run the gamut. It’s all very subjective.

The only TRUE indicator will be radio play and downloads. (and that goes for Kris’s song too).

  118. So hey guys just saw the rickey post…catch me up…warning:if you do there will be some major caps lock sqeeing going on…’just sayin…that’s impressive especially since rickey’s not an Adam fan….

Yeah, because Adam doesn’t have enough expectations on him. Isn’t that right, Brian May?

    pffft.

  120. Aimee Mayo’s tweet regarding Strut, she was asked a question and answered it without commenting about the song itself.

    @AimeeMayo LoL 1 more thing b4 I go paint my door… Adam’ 1st single is rumored to be a song named STRUT cowritten w/Kara DioGuardi~ ?? :-D

@delightfulmess i’ve heard Strut, with Adam singing it. His single could be anything at this point. He cut with Max M & is cutting w/Ryan T

  121. Is it a little weird that Adam’s first single is co-written by him and Kris the singer/songwriter is doing a cover for his first single?

I don’t even see why this is surprising, to my knowledge Kris never claimed he was writing or co-writing his whole album or even that it would all be original music and not include covers (Adam hasn’t either), some Kris fans just seemed to have made an assumption and they were wrong and now kind of look like idiots (especially that interviewer who was dumb enough to try to throw it in Adam’s face). Probably in the end Adam, Allison and Kris will all have a mixture of songs co-written by them and written by others on their final albums. Maybe nothing that Kris has co-written is/was ready in time for the single release date they wanted?

  122. Omg. Are they expecting us to just sit back and act sane while we wait for Strut? these next several weeks are going to be agonizing…

oh, and it will be amazing. thats a confirmed fact.

  123. Luv, Rickey posted the article based on some probably off-the-record remarks made to him by the folks at Rolling Stone. Folks here Squeed. MJ stayed true to her integrity and set her stopwatch. Someone pointed out that Adam’s first single seemed to be one written by him while Kris’ was a cover of a song and MJ stopped her stopwatch.

We still do not know the exact date of Adam’s single release nor if Strut us actually going to be his first single. Everyone is curious/excited/cautious/anxious or all of the above.

  124. I had my stopwatch set for that one.
It’s going to be a loooong fall .

    Too funny!

Its going to be ugly if Strut is anything short of Amazing. Good luck, Adam.

    So true!

Rolling Stone’s endorsement means nothing to me. Methinks they are more than a wee bit biased in Adam’s favor.

I Do Not Hook Up is not Depeche Mode. Kara is not Depeche Mode.

Still, if I were betting, I’d bet that it’s a good song.

  125. Is it a little weird that Adam’s first single is co-written by him and Kris the singer/songwriter is doing a cover for his first single?

I Do Not Hook Up is not Depeche Mode. Kara is not Depeche Mode.

I think Rolling Stone’s assessment of the song is that it sounded like Depeche Mode meets Queen meets Lady Gaga. Of course it’s only their opinion and not everyone is going to agree with it.

  128. I’m seriously about to lose my mind. I have been absolutely USELESS at work today! LOL!

OMG, snuffles! Me, too! I stayed an extra 2.5 hours to get some work done, b/c I am not coming in Monday (or maybe I will, just to go online, LOL), but at the same time posting or listening to music. It’s a sickness, I tells ya.

Since when have you been this excited for an Idol release?

Well, excited? Intensely curious! :) .

Okay, mj, I will chalk that one up to NEVER BEFORE IN IDOL HISTORY, GOING BACK TO SEASON ONE. LOL (j/k)

Sorry, Sunn, but I *desperately* want it to leak. I mean, it was awesome hearing Kradam sing today, God knows (hence my being on here for 11 hours or so), but we didn’t hear any new music (Crazy doesn’t count, since we’ve heard Adam sing that on youtube). I WANT TO HEAR NEW MUSIC AND I WANT TO HEAR IT NOW.

And with that, I bid you all a fond adieu. I’m getting very loopy and I’m hungry. Keep up the awesome posting. Sees ya tomorrow.

ETA: Oh, and good night, luv. Have fun but NO MORE CAP LOCKING. ;)

  129. IMHO the albums probably gonna suck, strut will b okaaaaay………:/

  130. I think Rolling Stone’s assessment of the song is that it sounded like Depeche Mode meets Queen meets Lady Gaga. Of course it’s only their opinion and not everyone is going to agree with it.

My Depeche Mode – Kara comment was meant to be about Kara, not Rolling Stone. That is, I don’t see how Kara could write a Depeche Mode-quality song.

Also hope Adam won’t be simply the male Lady Gaga.

  131. Its going to be ugly if Strut is anything short of Amazing. Good luck, Adam.

Nah. The only people who really care about the pre-buzz are his fans. (Or non-fans hoping some bad news, I suppose.) I doubt if the average Joe riding in his car is going to hear the song and say, “Hey. That’s catchy. I like it. Oh, but wait a mo! This is slightly short of amazing. Hmmph. I’m not buying it.”

“That is, I don’t see how Kara could write a Depeche Mode-quality song.”

I’m definitely with you on this. And I say she can’t. However, Adam co-wrote this with her, so many he added some Depeche Mode flavor to it. (I’m not saying Depeche Mode quality, mind you – because I won’t know that until I hear it. But, maybe a touch of their sound.)

  132. This is slightly short of amazing. Hmmph. I’m not buying it.’

That’s true. Just look at the top 100 sellers right now. Not a lot of amazing there.

  133. My Depeche Mode ‘“ Kara comment was meant to be about Kara, not Rolling Stone. That is, I don’t see how Kara could write a Depeche Mode-quality song.

Well it was CO-WRITTEN by Adam…so maybe THAT’s how? And I’m sure whoever produced it (RedOne? Maybe?) helped shape the sound as well.

I swear, write one crap song and you’re marked for life. Poor Kara.

  134. Nah. The only people who really care about the pre-buzz are his fans. (Or non-fans hoping some bad news, I suppose.) I doubt if the average Joe riding in his car is going to hear the song and say, ‘Hey. That’s catchy. I like it. Oh, but wait a mo! This is slightly short of amazing. Hmmph. I’m not buying it.’

Zsus-thank you for putting things in perspective.

  135. Well someone who saw the page said that it was first Oct. 5th and that literally it changed from when they checked it the first time, like a few minutes later, to Oct. 12th on the page. So maybe that’s what they’re referring to. Just an FYI.

No. The response was to the information I posted here on the blog.

  136. The waiting is driving me crazy. I can’t wait to hear whatever his single is going to be and for Time For Miracles too. I’m sure Kris will do well with his new single, it sounds like a pretty catchy song and he has a great voice. But I am waiting with baited breath for Adam’s.

  137. And yes I do approve of the gliitery alien’s use of multiple exclamation piints.lol.;).goodnight suebrody,no promieses;) mj’s curious??!!!!! OMA (sorry couldn’t resist;)) and now that I’m *ahem* (slightly) more sane…….so I expaect it to be okay becuz this is it’s ott Adam love I mean seriously it rolling stone .soooooo my school is having a magazine subscription selling fundraiser thing annnd is sad I want to subscribe to rolling stone just because of their ott Adam love.dont.answer.that.:D

  138. I’m withnyou Happydaisy, Adam has more to offer than to lock himsekf into a male Lady Ga Ga. If he wants it as bad as he says he will listen to what his fans want. I can’t wait to hear what he plans on giving us.

  139. Hi guys. I am back from lurking again. Can someone tell me where Ricky’s comments are please? I don’t know where his website is. Also, is there a link to the RS article? Glad to see you are all still here :)

  140. just catching up on this thread. glad to hear that date is wrong cause I’m crossing my fingers it’ll be sooner. I just want them to release ALL the idols first singles NOW. I don’t like this teasing thing….not unless I’m doing the teasing. humph. I’m hoping that if they’re doing Kris’s this Monday, that they’ll release Adam’s next Monday. And then one more week and Allison’s single. Makes sense to me as their albums all release a week apart.

MJ, I laughed at your long fall comment. If the fan competition continues (and I see no sign of it abating) I wouldn’t place a bet against prediction.

  141. Dab go back a couple of pages to Snuffles’ post at :22 past the hour. The Ricky quote is there.

You are right, MJ. It’s gonna be a long fall!

Well, the average Joe doesn’t buy music so no he won’t be interested, but someone who likes music has probably heard about Adam.
I don’t know how many people go to the Rolling Stones website or have a subscription but all these people have heard extensively about Adam and may have a lot of expectations considering the praise he’s receiving. Same thing for anyone outside the AI bubble who read the articles about how Adam was awesome on tour or for the Queen or Muse fans who have heard of Adam in association to their favorite band.

I can’t figure out how many people it adds up to, but there are quite a few people out there who are waiting around the corner for Adam’s first single.

  147. Grinning like a fool here after reading this thread. You guys make it hard to be apprehensive ;). I’m in the camp that wants just a little bit of something to leak – mainly to get an idea of where we’re going from here. Night all.

  148. I posted a link from the Examiner article polling best Adam concert moment in the headlines thread.

  149. hwc you crack me up. (note to myself, never mess up with those who have good memories)

Just catch up with today’s excitements! I hope Adam’s songs (time for miracles or strut or wutever) will be released soon. Can’t believe we have two song names but no release date. Can’t bear the teasing any longer.

  150. Wow, I am NEVER going to Ricky.org again. I got stuck in an install program loop involving a virus and couldn’t get out. I am still getting pop up windows regarding it. I hate this crap. Anyway, I read the article before the crap started. Geez, it is still going on. I liked what I read, can’t wait for the single. Going to look at the RS article now. Thanks for the info everyone.

  152. I don’t have a good feeling about two songs being sent to radio at practically the same time.

    One word. DAUGHTRY.

When DAUGHTRY’s CD came out, his first single was still in heavy rotation when the second single came out. The first and second singles were still in heavy rotation when the third single came out.

You may not realize it has taken almost THREE YEARS before their second album came out. The first album was cranking out hits for that long.

    From the band’s wiki page

The album spawned several hits for the group, starting with its first single “It’s Not Over”, which debuted on the radio on December 6, 2006, after being delayed from a planned September release

The album had already been released the 21st of November.
Then Home was released only the 10th April

So even tough both may well have been on the chart at the same time (It’s not over was a huge hit), there was 5 months in between their release dates, hardly a similtunaneous launch as it will be for Lambert.

  159. You probably didn’t notice because they all sounded alike.

    LMAO! I concur.

Black Eyed Peas’ Boom Boom Pow and I Gotta Feeling were only released three months apart.

Lady Gaga’s Poker Face and Love game were 6 month apart.

All I can say is, if the rumors are true and we have two great songs here and they are both released within a few weeks/month of each other, Adam is going to be HUGE.

    hoperumorsaretruehoperumorsaretruehoperumorsaretrue……….

  160. Is it a little weird that Adam’s first single is co-written by him and Kris the singer/songwriter is doing a cover for his first single?

It is ironic. But only for those of us following the blogs. And only to those who implied that Kris was going to be the next James Taylor or that Adam was a musical imbecile because he didn’t play an instrument. Neither viewpoint was ever accurate and outside of the internet no one thinks this way.
People will hear the songs and if they like them, they will go download them and buy the cds. I’m sure when the albums are released there will be songs that are co-written by both of them.
I’m thrilled to hear the news about Adam’s single! It looks like both Adam and Kris are going to have singles that are radio friendly and reflect who they are as performers. There really couldn’t be better news for fans of both these guys!

  161. Why is everyone assuming that Time for Miracles is going to be released as a single? Adam himself said he wasn’t sure when Lyndsey asked him.

Why is everyone assuming that Time for Miracles is going to be released as a single? Adam himself said he wasn’t sure when Lyndsey asked him.

I guess I assumed because it was featured so prominently on the Movie Poster. I’ve never seen that happen before for a song that wasn’t released.

  163. Hope no one is still on that Ford Concert thread – it’s so, well, eight hours ago. (The acoustic guitar stuff has definitely run its course.) The action is right here on this EXTREMELY provocative first-single thread. Gawd, was supposed to do some useful work today – what a crock! Now have to lurk to mid-October or so. Maybe will apply for food stamps. The guvmint owes me anyhow for all the damn taxes paid. Channelling QUEEN – “I want it all, and I want it now.”

  164. You’re right Sunn, that’s a possibility, but I think the poster is what got everyone thinking it would be. I can’t imagine them advertising the song if they weren’t planning on releasing it as a single, though.

  165. I guess I assumed because it was featured so prominently on the Movie Poster. I’ve never seen that happen before for a song that wasn’t released.

I’m not sure if having it on the poster means anything other than Adam is a marketable name. But surely if they are going to release it, then Adam would have known, yes? I mean someone on his team would have mentioned it ” Oh by the way, just a heads up, you know that song you recorded for that mega movie, well it’s coming out as a single”

I don’t know maybe it is, may be it isn’t. But even if it is, aren’t we assuming a lot by marking it for an october release?

  166. Why is everyone assuming that Time for Miracles is going to be released as a single? Adam himself said he wasn’t sure when Lyndsey asked him.

I’m with you on this one, Sunn. I believe that TFM will be on the movie soundtrack and if the movie is successful, it may be released as a single sometime down the road.

I can’t imagine that RCA would not have been involved in the contractual dealings with the producers of the movie. A random song, no matter how good, that doesn’t go along with the brand they are trying to establish for Adam would not be a good thing at this time, IMO.

  167. Yeah some ppl are still on the other thread…come on ppl it’s a ADAM FRIGGIN LAMBERT thread and we can’t get to 250 comments??!!! Ok 200.yeah let’s try that;).soooooo excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this is totally random but sunn to you have a British accent!!!??????lol;)

Lulz. Yes, the only people hanging on every word of this tortuous process are us.

  169. Did the Rolling Stone article mention who produced the track? I don’t recall. Kara may have written the track, but the sound of the track is completely up to the producer.

  170. Lulz. Yes, the only people hanging on every word of this tortuous process are us.

Sadly no. Hoping it’s Red One or Max Martin.

Yep. And I swear sometimes I worry for my sanity. This is just NOT normal.

Not normal for me and for you (heehee Randy) and I think for a lot of people on this thread. I managed to avoid all this fandom stuff for my whole life until now and it is very nerve racking to say the least. The lack of sleep for 2 1/2 months was bad enough but now waiting for a single along with withdrawal symptoms is hell.

  173. Man…I have not been able to be on the site much today so I have way too many threads and comments to read!! And, of course, it would be when Adam and Kris sing “Crazy” as a duet, Adam sings Starlight, MW, and TOMT acoustic, and things are coming out about Adam’s frist single release date!! Plus…his ‘Time For Miracles’ movie song might be coming out about the same time?! Is that about it? Did I miss anything?

Well…I gotta leave again. There will probably be 200 more comments when I get back! LOL

  174. I’m trying to be calm and realistic here, but, if peeps have heard it and there are copies around, it will be out soon! It will leak!

  175. But surely if they are going to release it, then Adam would have known, yes?

I’m not sure, Sunn! It makes sense. At the same time, Adam didn’t even seem to know if it had made the soundtrack, much less that it was going to be featured along with his name on the poster for the movie.

Releasing Time For Miracles would be to promote the movie and really would have little to do with Adam or his peeps. It’s up to the movie marketing squad. Adam’s single is meant to lure people to buy his album. So, it has to be from that. That doesn’t mean Strut is the first single, but I bet it is. That’s why it’s getting early buzz.

Pretty much what I have been saying. Hype is good. As long as it isn’t completely incongruent with the individual’s opinion on the song, nobody is going to NOT like a song because it was highly regarded and buzzed about, but wasn’t the best song ever. They are going to not like a song because they don’t. But if it gets enough play, one might end up liking it anyway (Sean Kingston’s “Fire Burning” did to this me; and as I hate Sean Kingston, I shall blame RedOne).

Did the Rolling Stone article mention who produced the track? I don’t recall. Kara may have written the track, but the sound of the track is completely up to the producer.

Pretty much. Especially if it is electronic-based production.

RedOne tends to also get co-writing credits on a lot of the songs he produces, so it seems like he really gets involved in it. Whether or not this is Adam’s single, I’d put money on him producing it as Adam mentioned a song he loved that he co-wrote with Kara before the tour, which coincided with his RedOne sessions.

Releasing Time For Miracles would be to promote the movie and really would have little to do with Adam or his peeps. It’s up to the movie marketing squad.

Yup (Zsus I am agreeing with you a lot right now). It will be promo for the film, not Adam, so it will be used to promote the film. However, by default, it does give Adam exposure and promotion, but it won’t be him promoting the song.

  177. What’s next with this craziness? Some Idol fanboy predicting that Americans from sea to shining sea past amber waves of grain will be simultaneously rolling down their car windows and singing along with some Idol’s cheezy single on the radio.

BWAHAHAHA!! And THIS is why I love hwc.

  178. Good night everyone, it’s 4.35am and I have an early start today, Lots of things to do.

Adamland, for you, for me, for you, I think we’re all 2 stops short of West Ham. LOL and I include Kris fans in this statement.

  179. I just came back to see if there was a release date yet. ;)

BTW, saw the short article about Adam’s single (the Time for Miracles one) from Hispanic Business:

    http://www.hispanicbusiness.com/newswire/2009/9/18/american_idols_adam_lambert_has_time.htm

Is that squirrely? And if it is, is squirrely MALE? I assume everyone on here is female unless informed otherwise (or if you are named, say, ROSS). Heh.

ETA: Have been listening to the new Muse album The Resistance a lot. I can totally see Adam releasing some songs from this album, including the title track and Uprising. Power, beautiful voice, Adam. Do not think Strut will sound like The Muse, tho. ;) Thinking more like Katy Perry or Christina Aguilera, maybe?

  180. Why is everyone assuming that Time for Miracles is going to be released as a single?

Because that’s the way this movie promotion biz works. Last November’s big Sony release was the Bond film, released the same day as 2012 will be released this year. They released the Alicia Keys/Jack White single to iTunes on Sept 30 and the YouTube video on Oct 1.

  181. Add Hispanic Business to the list of those who are jonesing for Adam. They’ve had a ton of stories about him and four just in the last month.

  182. Adamland, for you, for me, for you, I think we’re all 2 stops short of West Ham. LOL and I include Kris fans in this statement.

Dear Sunn I know what you mean and exactly where you are referring to and I agree to all. This former psychology major who decided to go into the legal field and loves SciFi is befuddled and dumbfounded to find myself in this predicament!

Good night Sunn – sweet dreams~

  183. Add Hispanic Business to the list of those who are jonesing for Adam. They’ve had a ton of stories about him and four just in the last month.

One of mj’s posters (I think it’s squirrely, but maybe I’m wrong) works for them and mentioned that earlier today. Which I am totally good with. :)

  184. Nooooo I think squirrely’s female and I don’t think she works at Hispanic buissness…..

  185. Why won’t someone leak a snippet of Adam’s single(s)? How did Kris’s leak?

  186. That’s a great question best ai-how did kris’s single get leaked!!!!????? Hmmmmmm….,………..:)

    I hope Adam’s single doesn’t get leaked…….

    gnight

    Good night Luvie.

  188. Why won’t someone leak a snippet of Adam’s single(s)? How did Kris’s leak?

I’m guessing that the record company “leaked” the snippet of Kris’s single to help create buzz, and we might find that the same thing happens when it’s time for Adam’s single to be released. My totally uneducated guess is that we’ve got another week or 2 before that happens, (probably 2, since I think that Adam had said that the single would come out in October.)

Maybe the people at the RS are saying something good when pressed because they don’t want to say anything bad.

    HUH ?

  190. BTW, I just want to point out that the NRBQ site did not list October 12 as the release date for a single. It listed Oct 12th as the day the payoloa checks start flowing for airplay. Those two dates are not necessarily the same.

You are right, MJ. It’s gonna be a long fall!

LOL again, yes, I think Michael’s hyperbole re: Kris beat even the RS praise for Adam this time….

  192. So I’ve been gone for several hours doing RL and came back expecting the mysteries of life to have been solved, ie real single release date, name of song and a leaked 22 seconds or more.
    No?
    Shucks.

I do like the idea of rolling down our windows and singing the new song from sea to shining sea.

  193. What’s next with this craziness? Some Idol fanboy predicting that Americans from sea to shining sea past amber waves of grain will be simultaneously rolling down their car windows and singing along with some Idol’s cheezy single on the radio.

What’s that got to do with what I said? You’re playing the fan war game like a pro. Except I’m not playing. lol.

Well someone who saw the page said that it was first Oct. 5th and that literally it changed from when they checked it the first time, like a few minutes later, to Oct. 12th on the page. So maybe that’s what they’re referring to. Just an FYI.

No. The response was to the information I posted here on the blog.

Oh no, I gotcha about that. I was just saying, hey, fyi, that the original date that was on that site was Oct. 5th. So maybe that the correct date, or maybe not. Just putting out some data.

I’ve seen it remarked on before as well, hwc, that this schedule is more about rotation/promotion, rather than referring to when things drop for the first time. Though one presumes that the rotation schedule is close to when it’s released. Or at least I would presume it, but that’s just my general business sense. I don’t have radio industry experience, alas at times like this.

  195. BTW, I’m reading a thread over at another forum, and I’m just chuckling to myself here. The paranoia never ceases to amaze me.

Just to set the record straight:

I learn stuff off the record sometimes, and I keep my mouth shut until I know it’s OK to spill. That’s just how I roll. I’m totally not into ‘protecting’ or supporting one contestant over another. I’m not that obsessed with individual contestants. I only care about my blog. And my community. When the contestants are worried about my career, I’ll worry about theirs.

  196. I assume Slezak and Rickey, in their roles as public Idol “experts” are fair game. I wouldn’t turn to either of them for opinions about music, that’s for sure.

What Rickey said was literally hyperbole.

I’m pretty sure that what Slezak said was literally hyberbole, too!

  197. I’m pretty sure that what Slezak said was literally hyberbole, too!

Rickey hasn’t heard the song. He’s “quoting” others who have. The two situations aren’t even comparable, except in that “you dissed my idol now I’ll diss yours” sort of way.

I find the paranoia exhausting, myself.

    And thanks for being ethical.

  199. The only this that is certain is that the radio release date, the CHR Add date and the iTunes/Amazon release date will not be the same. I bet RCA/19 will stage this so that there is some promo before the CHR Add date. In fact, my guess is that leaks to “insiders” are part of the promo plan. Just like I bet the “leak” of the 22 sec of Kris’ first single in Arkansas was not an accident.

Regarding the Rolling Stone sources loving “Strut” — well Adam is on their homepage, upper left corner. So this looks like a lovefest to me.

  200. The two situations aren’t even comparable, except in that ‘you dissed my idol now I’ll diss yours’ sort of way

    .

What does laughing at Rickey or Slezak have to do with dissing “anybody’s” Idol? I don’t have the faintest idea who “their” Idols are. Actually, I’ve never heard either of them dis anybody’s Idol. They are both Idol fanboys who generally applaud all things Idol. They both made ridiculously over-the-top comments about Idols prospects. They are both worth a chuckle.

BTW, I’ve never written one word here in response to someone dissing either of “my idols”. I can enjoy someone raggin’ on Lambert or Sarver as much as raggin’ on any Idol.

  201. BTW, I’ve never written one word here in response to someone dissing either of ‘my idols’ . I can enjoy someone raggin’ on Lambert or Sarver as much as raggin’ on any Idol.

And that is why I love to read your posts. Plus I can usually count on a chuckle or outright laugh.

You know, I am finding more and more people whose favorite Idols are Adam and Michael. Who would have thought that at the time of the finale? You sure would not have told me that that would be the case with me at this point in time.

  202. hwc: What does laughing at Rickey or Slezak have to do with dissing ‘anybody’s’ Idol? I don’t have the faintest idea who ‘their’ Idols are. They both made ridiculously over-the-top comments about Idols prospects. They are both worth a chuckle.

I have to say after 7 years of just OK Idol singles, we have “Idol experts” saying that we have singles coming out within the next few weeks that are in one way or the other great. I agree it is a bit unbelievable that both singles are great and that both of these comments are worthy of a good laugh!!

Rickey on Adam’s maybe single that Rickey hasn’t heard yet: People I know who have heard Adam Lambert’s single Strut say it is a-m-a-z-i-n-g. …It seems like this is best single to come out of Idol’ ¦ ever.

Slezak on Kris’ new single that he has only heard 22 seconds of: Suddenly, the idea of the nation collectively rolling down its windows and chanting ‘You’ve only got eighty-six-four-hundred seconds in a day to/ Turn it all around or throw it all away/ Gotta tell ’em that we love ’em while we got the chance to say’ ¦’ seems not only plausible, but entirely likely. I can’t tell you how stoked I am that an Idol champ, for the first time in too long a time, appears to be releasing a lead single with a legitimate chance to catapult him beyond pop radio’s initial prejudice against the Idol machine and become the star that he really deserves to be.

Perhaps I would laugh less if either of them had heard the entire recording (or in Rickey’s case heard anything) before they wrote such OTT comments about these recordings.

I would be thrilled if they are both right — but after months of hearing about the mediocrity produced by the Idol machine, I will maintain a bit of skepticism and humor about all this.

ETA: The above comment is not accurate — Michael Slezak has the entire Kris single. Thanks Kristen!!

You truly believe that people are actually going to be singing along to that dreck? With their car windows rolled down? In the fall when it’s freaking cold? With all those lyrics? Please. THAT’S hyperbole. Particularly since Slezac had actually heard the song and still acted like it was the second coming of Sing Along With Mitch. Slezac is a major fanboy. It’s why he’s so fun to read. Oh, and wait? Who’s another fanboy? Why it’s Rickey! In the case of Adam, Rickey’s hyperbole is obviously satire. He hasn’t heard Adam’s song. He’s just mocking what he’s read about it from the people at RS because he doesn’t like Adam. He’s having his fun for his own private pleasure. So what? More power to him. In my opinion, hwc’s comment wasn’t about starting a fan war. It was about recognizing the lunacy in all of this – from both sides.

I imagine whoever at RS has heard the entire Adam song as well, but they don’t seem to be talking officially.

    http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/2012/international/

It is mind-boggling to think that people in almost every country in the world will hear his song over the credits on the same day.

  214. Ravengirl, as someone on that thread said in response to the girl complaining ‘entitlement is still not sexy’…

  215. In my opinion, hwc’s comment wasn’t about starting a fan war. It was about recognizing the lunacy in all of this ‘“ from both sides.

That, and having a little fun with the honor of MJ accusing me of “hyperbole from inside the Idol bubble” for saying that there aren’t many current rock singers who can do what Lambert has been doing with Whole Lotta Love on the tour — the combination of vocal gymnastics and over-the-top theatrical-sexual performance. If that observation is hyperbole, then I’m damn sure not going to miss too many opportunities to laugh at Sezak’s and Rickey’s comments.

  216. the combination of vocal gymnastics and over-the-top theatrical-sexual performance.

Is that hyperbole? I thought it was a little understated, myself.

  217. RS dissed Muse’s Resistance album, so their opinion is suspect in everything EXCEPT Adam.

Mmmh, can’t agree with them on their opinion about Muse’s The Resistance. But they adored U2’s NLOTH. And they hate everything related to the BEP and don’t have much respect for Daughtry. So I agree with them 75% of the time, I’m gonna choose to believe they might be right this time.

And thanks MJ, for sharing as much as you can off the record.

  221. To think it was only a few days ago that we were wondering what we were going to do now that the tour was over. How would we all stay in touch? At least we would do all the RL stuff that was on hold. :)

  222. I would be thrilled if they are both right ‘” but after months of hearing about the mediocrity produced by the Idol machine, I will maintain a bit of skepticism and humor about all this.

Exactly, I think both comments are worthy of mocking and frankly I don’t believe either one, because each of Slezak and RS are too in the throes of their respective crushes for me to take seriously. I expect that both songs are going to be pretty run-of-the-mill AI songs. Especially if Kris’s song is any indication, pretty generic, though I expect it to be very successful. Just like I expect that RS is laying on the hyperbole a wee bit thick for Adam’s song. I just hope that it’s as commercially successful as I expect Kris’s to be.

I posted on headlines thread, but I don’t know where all you guys are. Adam sighting reported. He’s back in LA and apparently ‘rude,’ ontd_ai reports.

    Um, correction:

He’s back in LA and apparently 2 twitterers out of the several that have tweeted about him at the Pink concert called him ‘rude,’ ontd_ai reports.

Two bitchy tweeters think he’s rude, not ontd_ai. Just saying.

  224. I think we are gettng ahead of ourselves in believing for sure that Strut is the first single. It does sound like a perfect title for bb. Thought song might be one of RedOne’s.

  225. Slezak is a fanboy everyone knows that, he has done a glowing review of Jordin’s last album and seems to judge the idols completely differently than other acts, I expect he will do exactly the same for Adam and Allison.
In Kris case we already know the song and have a 20 s. snipet, going by that I agree that it’s probably in the high end of first idol singles (not that’s very hard to do).

I don’t know how much these reporters of RS can be trusted, but their opinions seem less tainted than Slezak to me and despite all the bad rep Kara has got from the last season of Idol, she’s still one of the major hitmaker in the market today, I would guess her songs outsold Redone by 10 to one. I heard her talk about her job in an article and she seemed really knowledgable and everyone who works with her say the same.

  226. Slezak loves Kris and Allison, RS loves Adam, no biggie. Slezak is a fantard just like the rest of us and he loves a good underdog story. I was right there with him last year in his love for Jason Castro. He has always been pretty fair to Adam, so I am sure he will give him a fair shake when his single comes out.Plus his mama loves Adam so he better not disappoint her, lol. I happen to agree with him about Kris though- it’s a catchy tune and I can see myself singing the song in my car. I don’t know how big of a hit will be but it certainly has the potential to be one. I think it will depend on how much radioplay it gets.

As for Adam’s song, RS is off the record saying they love it. I suspect RS isn’t the only one who heard it. Two other publications have put the album at the top of their list for one of the most anticipated albums of the season. I just find it hard to believe music critics would put their reps on the line like that unless they had some inside info, especially for an AI alum, IMHO.

My glass is now half full :)

Perez Hilton likes Adam today ( this was at the Pink concert):

perezhilton: Just had a lovely (off the record) conversation with Adam Lambert. He’s sweet. I’m very happy and excited for him!

Sure is alot of off the record stuff going on with Adam ……

ETA ( again) I was reading the comments section in EW and there were a few people that said Kris’ song sound like the Macarena, and DAMN if it doesn’t. A little. Anyone else hear it?

  227. One of mj’s posters (I think it’s squirrely, but maybe I’m wrong) works for them and mentioned that earlier today. Which I am totally good with. :)

    no, not me

    Crap. I wish I could un-hear that. Thanks a lot, Studio57, LOL.

On the plus side, THAT damn song was hella-catchy, insidious even. But I do think it’s mostly because we’ve only got a tiny snippet, I don’t think that’ll occur to people when they hear the song as a whole. I really think LLWD has big radio-hit potential.

Hello Sunn- where in the world is it afternoon?

The Middle East darling. It’s gone 3.20 pm here.

  230. I’m confused. When do they post here?

Just like us. Whenever they feel like it. Richard Rushfield (who used to be with the LA Times) has also posted here. I think Brian Mansfield has as well. Anybody can post if they aren’t banned.

As for the Idol writers/critics/fans, as with all critics one does have to filter them according to one’s own bias. Slezak hasn’t been complimentary to all Idol efforts, but he does like Kris. RS is gaga over Adam, but that doesn’t mean they are wrong about the song.

I predict when we finally hear “Strut” we will get an avalanche of comments “OMG, that’s the best song ever!!”, “Adam delivered”, “Meh. For somebody who is said to have such a great voice, why do they electronically enhance it so much? That could be Ashley Simpson singing”, “I’m flailing!”, “Sure fire hit”, “Bomb”, “Sounds like everything on the radio”, “Sounds like nothing on the radio”, etc, etc, etc, They’ll all be a little bit right.

  231. Sunn: Well, then Good Afternoon!

Soverymel: I know! it’s stuck in my head now too!

    HEY Macarena!
    LIVELikeweredyin!

I keed I keed, i actually love the Script song, and since the snippet sounds like the chorus, I am sure I will love Kris’ as well.

Does anyone know why people are disbelieving Rickey’s post? There are some pretty harsh words over there about it. Since I found this site I really don’t go over there too much but I remember that was THE go-to site in the beginning of AI. Does this all stem from the cellcastgate? You would think that after the adamcast people would realize that maybe Rickey didn’t “sabotage” Adam’s sets. I think too many people log on at that time and it craps out the system. I was on a cellcast for the Steelers during a preseason game and too many people logged on and the regulars were begging the cellcaster to make it private so they wouldn’t lose the cellcast.

Or am I offbase and there is more to it?

ETA: deleted this part of my post, wasn’t sure if I was straddling the “fingerwagging” line, lol.

  232. Perez Hilton likes Adam today ( this was at the Pink concert):

And I thought Adam got so worn out from the Live Tour that he will sleep for a week. I guess I was just projecting myself.

He just won’t quit doing something, won’t he – he just has to experience it all. If Adam had not discovered theater and music and if his music had not consumed him , I suppose he would be unbearable when idle.

I think this manic is also getting to the fans – we just will not quit until we know for sure if it’s Strut or something else ,huh. Or when its dropping …

In an interview Adam’s mom said the doctors said Adam was not hyperactive but just precocious – needing to know everything.

Sounds better- so precocious fans ?

Why you guys all jump on mj? She’s an Adam fan. She wanted Adam to win. I hope it’s not still about Adam’s smelly sweaty fans thread.

LOL.. imagining mj as an Adam fan is quite funny… yeah becoz mj’s not Adam fan, she said it herself. But she also said just becoz she’s not a fan doesn’t mean she won’t buy his album and the other idols album.. if they’re good.

  234. I don’t know, Animated- i think it would be pretty damn relaxing to go to a concert with a loved one. I wonder how Pink did last night? I heard she seperated her shoulder at the last concert doing her high wire act.

It’s kind of funny- I imagine Pink having the same conversation with her management as Adam did with the people from the Zodiac.

” I’m gonna sing. In a leotard. On a trapeze. While I am 50 feet above the stage” It’ll be subtle, really”

    And Lady Gaga:

“I’m gonna sing. Then I will hang myself on stage. There’ll be lots of blood. It’ll be subtle though, really”

  235. I think that MJ likes particular contests but she’s not a fantard over them. She also won’t let it bias her blog, which I think is the proper thing to do. But I could be mistaken, I haven’t been here that long.

As for Adam’s song, RS is off the record saying they love it. I suspect RS isn’t the only one who heard it. Ahh as much as we hate the guy it IS a good idea to keep him on your good side. Especially if you have a lot of mutual friends and if you won’t mind the free advertising his site entails (who wouldn’t really).
I dont hear the macarena thing YET. I’ll go listen to the song again.

Does anyone know why people are disbelieving Rickey’s post? There are some pretty harsh words over there about it. Since I found this site I really don’t go over there too much but I remember that was THE go-to site in the beginning of AI. Does this all stem from the cellcastgate?

I don’t think it’s that one incident per se. I think that whole thing, plus now people doubting whether he’s sincerely quoting reliable sources and instead is satirically mocking the OTT nature of some Adam fans, goes further back. Rickey is an unabashed Kris fan, and he pissed off a lot of Adam fans way back after the finale when passions were high to say the least by coining the term Bitterbert then using it every chance possible. And so while things calmed down later, whenever something happens that calls Rickey’s motives into question, unfortunately people who remember that ugly time don’t tend to give him the benefit of the doubt. It’s kind of sad, because I think he does appreciate Adam, just not as much as Kris. Like most of us, he’s got his favorite.

That’s my theory anyway. And although I am an Adam fan that DOES tend to give him the benefit of the doubt, I must admit I raised an eyebrow at that post. It was just so OTT, especially for Rickey talking about Adam, that it felt a little like a parody. But I can’t imagine what Rickey would gain by doing that. So I think I agree with MJ that while the wording he used is pretty much hyperbole, it does have a basis in some positive comments from off-the-record sources.

  237. Does anyone know why people are disbelieving Rickey’s post? There are some pretty harsh words over there about it. Nothing that I know of. I think that some Adam fans dislike Rickey because it was pretty clear during the season that Kris was his favorite, but I always thought he was respectfull during Adam set when he was the one in charge of the cellcast, but I only listened a handfull of times so I don’t know everything about it.

Not that it matters anymore, the tour is over, Rickey will go on with AI9 just like MJ and Slezak.

LMAO that totally cracked me up.

  239. I think this manic is also getting to the fans ‘“ we just will not quit until we know for sure if it’s Strut or something else ,huh. Or when its dropping ‘ ¦

I don’t think it’s manic, I think that’s where the real fun lies. I like the suspense, I like the anticipation. I’m more of a process than results kinda gal, delayed gratification.. etc.

I don’t want the single to leak, I don’t even want the name of the single confirmed until it’s close to release. I like the excitement of not knowing, of imagining, and of eagerly awaiting. I find nothing more enticing than that which is just beyond my reach.

That’s probably the reason why I always hated meeting my idols, I’ve always found the reality of them such a disappointment. Unfortunately, I’ve met far too many, and as a result have so few idols left.

  240. It’s just like Christmas. Some of us are the little kid that likes to jiggle the present ( the ones that want to hear the buzz), some of us are the ones that want to unwrap it, see it, and then wrap it back up so mom and dad don’t know ( the ones that want the leak), and then there are some of us that just like the element of suprise and are willing to wait.

    I’m an unwrapper, myself :)

Oh, and thanks for clearing the Rickey stuff up for me.

  241. Someone posted HD of Adam’s performances yesterday in the Ford thread mp3 worthy.

LMAO. Thank you. Need a good chuckle to start the day off right.

  243. Studio57, I’m an unwrapper too! I’m a spoiler-reading, hate when my friends don’t find out the sex of their babies ahead of time, leak-wanting unwrapper. Ironically, however, I’m considered very patient in many aspects of my life.

But (on a selfish note) I hope not too much is revealed today because I’ll be out of touch almost all day and night and can’t catch up.

  244. Prob not going to post much today, but wanted to say hi to Sunn and sorry, squirrely, someone here said s/he worked for Hispanic publication. I didn’t realize Rickey might be mocking on his site, BTW. He seems to be an Addison and Anoop fan, so I posted there just to say I was excited about Strut and any other track but would reserve judgment. And I was surprised about Adam and Drake at Pink concert, just b/c he seemed pretty tired yesterday, but he has said, I think, that he is a big fan. Plus, unlike Kris, perhaps he has the day off. ;)

It’s beautiful in Boston today, so I am outta here. Ciao. :)

I guess so, must be cool to watch someone else do the singing and flying – and also getting some ideas how to fly higher – oh oh, you must be on track with something there – Adam is getting ideas for his next performance … that will be exciting.

And yes – yes – to the unwrapper rather than the manic .

Yes , it is just hard to contain the excitement when it comes to Adam.

  246. I’m an unwrapper too! I’m a spoiler-reading, hate when my friends don’t find out the sex of their babies ahead of time, leak-wanting unwrapper

I used to drive my friend nuts this season when I would get spoilers and told her I knew what they were singing before the show. She would always say she didn’t want to know. By the end of the season she would be like “Did you hear anything”, lol. Totally turned her into an unwrapper!

Squirrely- just wondering- aren’t you sick of Mad World and Starlight yet? I was a fan of both those songs before Adam sang them, and now I just need a break from them after watching so many tour videos, seeing him live, rewinding my DVR and watching youtubes. And TOMT, no matter how many times he sings it, will never match the performance of that night he turned me into a fan. Nothing will ever compare. It was perfection.

Animated- I can sooo see the wheels turning for him watching Pink.

On with the solo career ADAM!!!!!!

  247. I was on a search for the best Starlight vid , and kept getting waylaid by WLL and Bowie . I thought this would be a great diversion until the 2012 single comes out, and then the new album’s first single.
There has to be another way to ease the waiting . Oh well…

Have to go for now and you all keep safe .

  248. Jody Rossen (the reviewer for Rolling Stone) has had a thing against Muse for years. She’s one of those super pretentious Radiohead fans that very nearly make me hate the damn band. I give her reviews no time of day at all.

  249. Does anyone know why people are disbelieving Rickey’s post?

Having read the threads about Rickey’s piece on a couple of Adam sites, here’s my take:

Some Adam fans are worried that expectations are getting too high for this single.

A few Adam fans don’t trust Rickey and think he wouldn’t write anything nice about Adam unless he had an alterior motive — in this case to raise expectations so high that Adam can’t meet them.

A handful of Adam fans are cynical crowd and think Rickey is spreading rumors just to have a laugh at the Adam Lambert fans. They think he’s just making stuff up.

The vast majority of Adam fans are excited that people have heard “Strut” — now that there are also a couple of tweets from people who have heard it — and hope it leaks or is released soon.

And many comments like this one from IDF included both sentiments at once:

I REALLY, REALLY HATE RICKEY AND HAVE A HARD TIME BELIEVING HIM. HE HATES ADAM, IDK, IT’S HARD TO BELIEVE HE WANTS TO DO ANYTHING GOOD FOR HIM.

But OMG if this is true, if the song really is amazing I really can’t wait to hear it! I don’t want it to leak, at the same time I want Perez to leak it tomorrow. LOL. I just need his music in my life!!

ETA: But MJ is getting lots of compliments and has a lot of credibility across the Idol fansites — because she is perceived by almost everyone as being fair, reliable and well connected. IMO well deserved respect!

  250. I love you guys:) 285 comments!!!!! Way to go!!!!!!! See now this is an ADAM thread……

  251. I don’t know why everyone is still confused about Rickey’s agenda. MJ posted about it and I certainly trust her to be unbiased.

MJ-DId you hear any of this MJ? Since RIckey knows about it maybee you’ve hear some gossip too?

People at Rolling Stone have heard it, and they really like it. Just like they mentioned in the article.

  252. Hi Luv!

Sorry I wasn’t able to do my part yesterday. Was out of touch most of the day and night, then could just play catch-up. I will be out almost all day and night today too :-(

    Loving you though!!

  253. That pretty much does cover both sides of the spectrum Q3, lol. But if Rickey had some kind of an agenda, wouldn’t it make more sense for him to say his peeps thought the record sucked? I think most Adam fans are cautious by nature because of his unpredictability, and worry worts overall. Eh, I don’t know. Christ I wish someone could leak it just so I could see for myself.

Did you see the Friday Memo thing from USA today? It was a follow up to Brian Mansfield picking Adam as his top pick for fall releases. I don’t know if I am reading it wrong, but from his comment in the comment section, it sounds like he’s heard it already too:

As for everything else I mentioned, I’ve heard at least part of everything except for Rosanne Cash and Kris Allen.

Here is the article, maybe someone else can decipher it.

  254. Hi susan m!!!’ have fun I’ll be out until 4:30:(

And I missed how we knew it was rolling stone ppl that herd the song??!!!..,.help, plz

  255. Oh, come on, MJ. You called Rickey’s comments ‘hyperbole.’ Slezac’s effusive praise of that hideous song that Kris is being forced to release as his first single isn’t? You truly believe that people are actually going to be singing along to that dreck? With their car windows rolled down? In the fall when it’s freaking cold? With all those lyrics? Please. THAT’S hyperbole.

Fanwarring is: Bringing up another Idol out of thin air, apropos of nothing, when it appears that I’m dissing a poster’s favorite Idol.

First of all, my comment had to do with Rickey quoting an unamed source out of context, not the content of the quote. Suddenly bringing Slezak into the conversation was pointless. I’m not defending Slezak’s comments, I’m just wondering why he was brought up at all.

And As it turns out, hwc just admitted that he WAS needling me, so there you go.

I’ll just repeat what I said before… It’s gonna be a looooongggg ass fall.

BTW not a fan girl of anybody this year. I like, but don’t tard over Adam, Kris and Allison.

  256. By the way, I don’t think Rickey is mocking Adam fans. He wrote the post for maximum impact. The post is a little OTT in order to get y’all excited. It worked.

  257. thnx mj. i wanted to know what you thought about rickey ‘s post…

  258. Studio57

Oh, that makes sense, lol. Well, I can’t wait to hear the song for myself.

  259. The post is a little OTT in order to get y’all excited. It worked.

Do you think Slezak’s post is OTT (because it really seems that way) just to get Kris’s fans excited? I’m not being an ass-just trying to figure out where people are coming from. I’m truly a bit confused over this thread.

  260. Studio57
About the Brian Mansfield Friday Memo. Just read through it. Thanks for the link BTW. Yes I interpret him to say that he has heard part of Adam’s Album. This is exciting to me esp. considering that it’s at the top of his list.

Ummm, not me. I’ll wait until I hear the whole song with my own ears and then decide on my critique then. I don’t buy music or go to the movies based on reviews. Especially when people are biased.

ETA: Even Brian May wouldn’t sway me if I thought the song was dreck. I like that he loves Adams voice though.

  263. I watched the epic jacket removal video several times yesterday. It is fun. My husband caught me watching it while I was total engrossed. He came into the room wearing his fringed leather jacket and did an Adam impersonation. It was hilarious.

  264. Fanwarring is: Bringing up another Idol out of thin air, apropos of nothing, when it appears that I’m dissing a poster’s favorite Idol.

That’s not what I did. I’ve never felt that you were “dissing” any idol. You posted about hyperbole by Idol fanboy reviewers. I commented on hyperbole by Idol fanboy reviewers. Frankly, I think both Slezak’s and Rickey’s comments were equally absurd. These are American Idol singles we are talking about. Nobody should take them seriously. It’s throwaway pop. From the same people who brought you From Justin to Kelly, for gawd’s sake. This not art we are talking about. It pay to play top 40 dreck.

On the odd chance that some Idol someday records something of lasting merit, it will only escape the bounds of pop pablum as it stands the test of time and it almost certainly won’t be co-written by Kara DioGuardi.

As for mocking, I don’t think Rickey has it in him. He would probably carry on about a John Peter Lewis single being the best thing since Eight Days a Week. That’s just the way he rolls; he loves him some Idol.

I watched the epic jacket removal video several times yesterday. It is fun. My husband caught me watching it while I was total engrossed. He came into the room wearing his fringed leather jacket and did an Adam impersonation. It was hilarious.

    Yes, it was hilarious. LOL
Next time get him a mic stand ( : !!!

I have a game of Spider Solitaire on whenever I watch Adam’s videos; just in case someone walks by. I also have my headphone on so noone can hear.

  268. Ummm, not me. I’ll wait until I hear the whole song with my own ears and then decide on my critique then.

Me, neither. Actually, to hear Rickey gushing uncontrollably about the greatness of some Idol loser’s single would all but convince me that the song is dreck. Have you seen the way he squeals when some Idol wannabee does a karaoke version of Britney Spears lipsynching? I’m fairly confident that my musical preferences have little in common with Rickey’s…. or Slezak’s.

  269. Do you think Slezak’s post is OTT (because it really seems that way) just to get Kris’s fans excited? I’m not being an ass-just trying to figure out where people are coming from. I’m truly a bit confused over this thread.

Why do people keep bringing up Slezak? I’m just as confused.

  270. He would probably carry on about a John Peter Lewis single being the best thing since Eight Days a Week.

You keep proving the point I was making about the fanwarring, but I’ll let it go now. lol.

  271. Hwc, I am impressed with that list. Don’t like about 5 but the rest are pretty darn good in my personal opinion.

  272. By the way, just to add some context, the whole you-dissed-my-idol-so-now-I’ll-diss-your-idol mode of fanwarring absolutely drives me nuts. Just so you know.

  273. Macarena was the first thing I thought of when I heard Live Like We’re Dying and that was after listening to the whole song by Sprite.

I don’t understand why hwc is “fanwarring” when he’s not talking about the fans, but reviewers who may or not be fans of any particular idol.

Hate the tank tops. They’re fine for appropriate occasions, like the beach, but to go out in the evening wearing one, especially when you’re with someone you know is in the public eye, is pitiful. I do, however, like seeing Adam so happy.

  274. I can see why people are questioning Rickey. If he indeed was OTT about Adam, it does seem to fall under the category of teasing and mocking. I’m not sure what he would gain from that, but I never go over there anyway…so,whatever.
I did trust MJ when she backed Ricky’s sources. I have to say that I’ve seen what I thought were biasis along the way, but she runs a fair site. (everyone has their favorites) I also think sometimes she is trying to balance things out due to the higher volume of Adam fans. It is a tricky balance though.
Slezak’s claims also seemed OTT to me. I didn’t say it in the thread that was celebrating the single snippet. I don’t think anyone did, but I see a lot of people were thinking it. I do think the single is going to be a good one for Kris and I have repeatedly posted this.

  275. By the way, just to add some context, the whole you-dissed-my-idol-so-now-I’ll-diss-your-idol mode of fanwarring absolutely drives me nuts. Just so you know.

That’s just human nature though, to do that, isn’t it? I know your site rules state that if you can’t take the heat, pretty much get out of the kitchen, but if you allow snark, shouldn’t people be allowed to snark back without being called defensive? I mean the original snarker ( is that a word, lol?) comes from a place of being defensive, don’t you think? I really don’t know how you draw the line.

    I stand corrected :)

  277. Ha! Leave the thread for nearly 24 hours after giving you guys on the (wretched) Ford thread the rickey heads up, and I get SUCH fun stuff to read upon return!

My only comment is an appreciative requote from earlier:

star: My poor iPod has blue balls.

Sayz it all!!!

  278. Just a little info while we are waiting on music news. Roland Emmerich , the director for 2012, doesn’t have a great track record at the box office, but the only other movie he did a soundtrack for that I could find ( as opposed to musical score) was Godzilla, and THAT soundtrack peaked at #2 on the hot 100 chart.

    It featured the following:

    “Heroes” – The Wallflowers
“Come with Me” – Puff Daddy featuring Jimmy Page
    “Deeper Underground” – Jamiroquai
“No Shelter” – Rage Against the Machine
    “Air” – Ben Folds Five
“Running Knees” – Days of the New
“Macy Day Parade” – Michael Penn
    “Walk the Sky” – Fuel
    “A320” – Foo Fighters
“Brain Stew” (The Godzilla Remix) – Green Day
    “Untitled” – Silverchair
    “Out There” – Fuzzbubble
    “Undercover” – Joey DeLuxe
    “Opening Titles” – David Arnold
“Looking for Clues” – David Arnold

  279. No, actually (I’m being stupid perhaps), but I still have faith. I’m hoping for some efforts from the singers to deliver me some art, even if it’s young singers intimidated by Idol’s bigwigs.

  280. Ok, I have been thinking… what if the quality of the idol albums is because the label have decided to only spend a certain amount of money (in combination with time limitations ofcourse) in producing. Maybe Kris, Adam and Allison were able to negotiate better deals for what to invest in their first album since they seem to be much more commercially marketable than previous idols.
