Adam Lambert on His New Album and Owning the Crazy

Adam Lambert talks about his upcoming album, Trespassing, with Lyndsey Parker of Yahoo music in this brand new interview. Watch Part 1 below. (Via Yahoo Music)

Adam was able to take his time making the new album, giving him the opportunity to open himself up in a very honest way. The experiences he’s had in the last 2 years have helped him shape who he is as an artist.

The new album brings in a few elements we didn’t see on the 1st album, like funk and disco. And “more of a soul side”. Plus a 90s influence and a little New Wave.

Notes on a couple of the songs that Lyndsey heard:

Cuckoo – Written with Bonnie McKee, this club song is about “owning how crazy I am. I know I’m a little bit insane.” The song has a “funk-swing to it.” with a little 80s hair metal!

Trespassing – There’s a nostalgic feel to it. It’s an anthem that’s meant to inspire people to take a risk and be who they are. Adam worked with Pharrell, who he describes as “cool and down to earth.  Adam wanted to go back to the inspired, creative mindset he had before all the craziness and pressures of the business set in.

Kickin’ In is another song Adam collaborated on with Pharrell. It’s got a throw back to Michael Jackson or Prince.

As a side note, Adam anticipates performing with the legendary Queen again, but he can’t reveal the details yet.
