The super-sleuths had the credits nearly perfect. There was some question about who wrote “If I Had You”–it’s a Max Martin production with help from Savan Kotecha and Johan Shellback.

While an EW article credited “Loaded Smile” to Adam and Linda Perry, the song is strictly a Perry creation, and Adam gets a writing credit on the Rivers Cuomo tune, “Pick U Up”

  1. I really hope Adam hits the superstar level. Can’t wait to see what happens…

  2. I’m always impressed with how gracious Adam is. He never fails to give credit to those who help him bring his vision to life.

  3. When should we expect to hear the single on the radio? Anything we should be doing? I’m pretty new to how all this works but the more I listen to FYE the more I like it. It’s a genius pick for first single.

  4. ‘I feel so lucky to have been granted true opportunity to work with some of the top producers and writers in popular music,’ Says Adam. ‘This album is a reflection of their genius and the collaborative energy that they were gracious enough to share with me.

This is one of the reason I love and respect Adam….WOW classy

  5. The Letterman gig is impressive. Dave rarely books Idols fresh off the show.

I know.. I’m so excited about it. I don’t really like Letterman but he has better ratings than The Tonight Shows or Jay Leno’s… and I love that RCA put Adam in Late Night show with Dave… woo hooo.. so hopefully this will make people outside the AI buble notice Adam and his amazing talent (voice).

  6. ‘I feel so lucky to have been granted true opportunity to work with some of the top producers and writers in popular music,’ Says Adam. ‘This album is a reflection of their genius and the collaborative energy that they were gracious enough to share with me.

    I love this guy!

Do you think Dave will interview him?

  7. Dont forget his appearance on Ellen…its on AO under the events page….saw it there myself :)…
and Oprah invited him to perform so hopefully that will happen sometime soon…oh and also the Steven Spielberg event should be good although I dont know if that will televised…it should be!
    Cannot.Effing.Wait.LOL

  8. Word on the street (from someone who is going, posted a few days ago) is that Adam is SINGING but not being interviewed. Which is just fine with me. For now. :)

Adam is a unique individual, in every positive way.

  9. I swear, his collaborator list looks like someone went up to me and said, “Hey, Calliope — I know you like Adam, but what else do you like about pop music?” or something. And went with it. So exciting.

I cannot wait to hear the full versions, especially the Rivers/Adam/Greg song.

  10. I am so glad for all these appearances. I think he is supposed to be on Ellen on 12/1. I am sure we will get updated on this! I just am so proud of Adam and all he has accomplished this year! I can’t imagine how we could have done without him, can any of you? I know many of you, like myself, latched on to his stardom from the auditions and never let go! I am surprised I haven’t gotten into trouble at work for all the times during the day I Yahoo and Google Adam Lambert and hit MJs Bigblog! We have this new Imac(hubby’s) 27″ screen and he had the video of TFM on for me last night when I got home. 1080 Pix. It was just awesome…I had been watching it a lot on my pc but, he watched it 3 times and really liked it. Also, he liked FYE and said it was really catchy and would do well…..I am thrilled as I have been on”overkill”
with Adam for months now with hubby….I am just so proud of Adam
and all he has done and all he is going to do. I can’t wait to see him perform on the AMA’s and the others….that song, TFM, just had to be nominated for an Oscar….I have heard them all through the years and
it is one of, if not, the best I have heard. The more I listen to it, the more I love it….FYE is a killer albumn…All this is so wonderful…………
Just had to speak my piece tonight…and, will be sitting in the movies next week-end you can bet……Go Adam Lambert, the world is waiting for you!

  11. Do you think Dave will interview him?

Doesn’t he usually interview all of his guests?
or no actually sometimes, if someone performs then they are the last act and then at the end he goes and shakes his hand and advertises the CD.
    wee :)

  12. Flailing. Now I want to know about the iTunes bonus track bunny song. ;) And I already love River’s song (from the snippet). The new Weeeeezer album is great (thanks to the poster who led me to amazon where it is $3.99!!!) and Rivers is amazing.

Yeah, Calliope, these track listings are siiiick. I wonder if any other Idol, or most artists, for that matter, have had so many amazing collaborators?

Please start playing FYE, radio stations. Please start adding it. 13 stations is simply not enough. Thank you in advance for your attention to this matter.

  13. One BIG advantage that Adam has is that he is gay.

Why do I say this? Adam is a great role model of a gay dude that is also a very cool human being. Since Hollywood and the music Industry is very supportive of the gay lifestyle, Adam is the kind of guy they want to promote.

Yes, he is a brilliant singer, but this doesn’t hurt either.

  14. maggie mae I am just so proud of Adam

Oh Maggie I’ve got something to say to you…..Wonderful said…. (could resist the intro)

  15. I’m excited about Letterman!! :D

I never weighed in on the clips yesterday but I really like what I’m hearing! I’d always hoped for an eclectic pop album from Adam, like Kelly’s All I Ever Wanted, and as I listened to the clips, I felt like I got my wish. I read a few comments and I was kind of bummed to see not many liked “Whataya Want From Me” and “Pick U Up.” I actually like the sound of those two a lot. I can pick out some Weezer influence on “Pick U Up” and after seeing the Rivers Cuomo interview in which he talked about the song, I’m really looking forward to the whole thing! It’s kind of funny how he seemed to just stumble into a collaboration with Adam, lol.

I’m a sucker for Ryan Tedder’s sound so I absolutely love “Sleepwalker.” “Fever” sounds really cute and Scissor Sister-y. I couldn’t really get a feel for “Strut” from the clip they used, but it’s got potential. Honestly, the only one I really wasn’t feeling was “Loaded Smile” but hopefully the full song will change my mind.

  16. I WANT EVERYTHING NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok, I will calm down now. Need to get back to my wine and headphones. :)

  17. does anyone have a connection to Sirius XM ? I keep listening to Pop Hits station (1) and (2) The Blend/ thinking they gotta play FYE soon!

  18. that song, TFM, just had to be nominated for an Oscar’ ¦.I have heard them all through the years and
it is one of, if not, the best I have heard.

Ditto! Good post maggie mae…I totally agree his vocal performance on that song deserves some award…and then if he wins we shall have a “legit” justifaction as to why he is better than everyone else hehe.
Not trying to sound obnoxious or anything but an award like taht really puts an artist on another level that gives them a lot of respect in his/her field of work/entertainment…
heck if Eminem got one then so can Adam!
Although that track (Loose yourself) from 8 Mile was very successful on the radio and the movie was successful as well…if TFM would pick up just a little more steam then I think it could be a contender

  19. Does “Redone” have another name? Well… I know he does, but is he called that for producing?

Because.. I don’t see him on any of the credits, and I know they were recording some cool stuff…

Ya’ll need to purchase FYE at Itunes… NOW! I’ve had it, but I still purchased it today since its the right thang to do.

  20. That’s Adam, so appreciative of those people that help and collaborate with him. He never failed to acknowledge the band and those who helped him arrange songs on AI and after AI, he hasn’t changed. Adam just throws such good energy out there in those compliments and acknowledgements, and you can definitely see the good karma and wishes returned to him. I wish him all the success in the world and I know, I’ll be along for the ride no matter where his career takes him. Small venues, large venues…doesn’t matter. Adam’s voice and talent have gained him a fan forever.

  21. Hubby and I have had this ongoing disagreement over Adam. He does not like him. (not sure how I didn’t notice his bad taste in music for 40 yrs). Anyway, he does like Letterman and watches every night. Maybe seeing Adam there will change his mind. Hoping. Meanwhile, I get major networks from both east and west coast so I am going to go and watch ET on the west coast channel at 10.

  22. YEY! can’t wait to see adam performs! but why the hell this single?!!! it’s the worst one in the whole album! loved almost all the other ones more! i hope he performs one of the ballads or music again on the other shows. great sigh of frustration!

  23. Will be very interesting to see Adam perform with PAul Shaeffer’s band that is a requirement for the musical guests on letterman . . .always has been. Paul is great on vintage keyboards and is a great arranger so that could be really cool.

  24. stellamarris that is something I have wondered about. I love FYE but if, say, Oprah wanted him to sing a different song could he do it or is he limited to FYE for now?? anyone know??

    RedOne (born Nadir Khayat)

  26. Triple ditto, CindyM.

Now someone tell me why Adam isn’t even listed as “newly added” for the week. Srsly.

I put this in the former thread:

Haven’t seen this posted yet, if it was, sorry. Nice article from Reuters.
    http://www.reuters.com/article/pressRelease/idUS246115+04-Nov-2009+PRN20091104

Well, I couldn’t resist. I wrote to Jamie, one of their heads of marketing and promotion re: lack thereof (very polite but concerned email). :) IF I hear back, I will let you know.

And I did this b/c I really believe that this movie deserves tremendous publicity. Adam is not just some singer, Idol or otherwise–he is phenomenal, and should get the chance to show everyone outside of the Idol bubble. (Plus, if I have to hear Taylor Swift one more time, I will seriously lose it.)

  27. Sorry, did not mean movie, I meant album. Gah, I want my editing function back! (Tho he will be in the movies soon…watch it happen. ;))

Beautifully said, Cindy. You have a lot of company. So many of us are right there with you. We are amazed by Adam because of his talent, yes. but without the generous heart he wouldn’t be the Adam we love.

  29. Thanks “adamland”! So… isn’t that weird that their songs aren’t on there… or am I missing something?

  30. Hrrm. Do you have to sing the lead single? I do not know if FYE is a great song for Oprah (or the GMAs, for that matter, unless it is acoustic, see thread below for more info on that). Maybe Pick U Up, say. Of course, if he gets to sing MORE than one song… ;)

I still wish that kind of pic above was the cover pic. That wry smile…emo-ish hair…sparkly jacket…WIN.

  31. Also, Adam BETTER do some “belting” I love those high notes here and there.. they really set him apart from the others…

  32. Also, Adam BETTER do some ‘belting’ I love those high notes here and there.. they really set him apart from the others’ ¦

me too – I love it when he wails

  33. I’m so excited for Adam!! I can’t even explain it. As someone else said a while ago on some way-faraway-post, it’s like he’s family and they just want to protect him. That’s how I feel. Like he’s one of my sons (I have 2 grown sons) and I so want him to succeed!! And, there is no doubt in my mind (and, never has been) that he will.

I could listen to him talk all day. I absolutely LOVE the way he is so articulate in interviews. It’s no wonder that all the peeps that get to talk with him are so *fangirly*. OMG, I can’t even imagine.

I have never seen anyone so comfortable in speaking with others and I have yet to see a pic of Adam that wasn’t awesome.

I love all the songs he’s doing. Some more than others, but I know there isn’t one that I don’t like.

I really think it’s nice of him to release his album in my Bday month too…hehehe! He’ll be on the AMA’s just 2 days after and his album comes out the next day!!! OMGGGGGG!!

I can’t wait for the album. I’ve already preordered from Amazon, ordered the CE from AO and will probably d/l the itunes one too. I want all of the bonus tracks.

I’ve never been this invested about anyone on AI. Loved DC and still do. Bought his CD and love it too. But, I have to say, nothing can compare to Adam. I’d still go to a DC concert if there was ever one in my area though. :)

I really think being here on mj’s (TY so much) has made it so much easier to follow your fav. I have learned so much more about music in general here, and totally love the snark and fun that goes on. I try to keep quiet when I really want to yell at someone…hehehe!

I doubt if Adam will get interviewed by Letterman. He’ll sing at the end and Dave will come over and shake his hand, etc. That’s ok, he’ll get lots of chat from Oprah and Ellen, for sure.

I’m just so excited!!!! Sorry to go on for so long. But, it’s ADAM, ya know?? LOL

Thanks ‘adamland’ ! So’ ¦ isn’t that weird that their songs aren’t on there’ ¦ or am I missing something?

lorenzo I think Adam realized while on tour that a lot of people were responding very strongly to what he was singing and decided to pursue a different direction with this album.

  35. SueBrody-

Any word as to how your BFF Quentin is grooving to Adam’s album?

  36. FYE is now back under Albums in itunes at 29 in Pop!

These are not yet released albums? *confused* Kris is at #8.

Adam already has 711 ratings in less than a day!!! BEP: 309. Michael Buble: 473.

    lol

  37. I’m just so excited!!!! Sorry to go on for so long. But, it’s ADAM, ya know?? LOL

    Right there with you.

  38. Carrie Underwood was on Letterman Monday night and she was not interviewed. Letterman introduced her, she did her thing (brilliantly, btw) and then a brief chat and album promo.

Adam would make a great interview but it’s enough right now for him to have the opportunity to perform on Letterman. Between that, the AMAs and GMA, he’s going to be seen by a lot of people.

  39. SueBrody-

Any word as to how your BFF Quentin is grooving to Adam’s album?

Hee hee. I think he is grooving on his next movie set. ;) Meanwhile, @EWMichaelSlezak remains curiously silent, tho he weighed in (of course) on Allison. Did he hate the snippets that much?!

  40. Oprah wanted him to sing a different song could he do it or is he limited to FYE for now??

Oprah can get “Soaked” on her show. Adam’s singing that song on Oprah.. will melt her and her viewers’ hearts…. guaranteed… ;)

  41. FYE is now back under Albums in itunes at 29 in Pop!

HAHA.. iTunes really is a mess, isn’t it?… They should put FYE under top song instead of top albums..

  42. Well, I couldn’t resist. I wrote to Jamie, one of their heads of marketing and promotion re: lack thereof (very polite but concerned email). IF I hear back, I will let you know

Lack of marketing and promotion? Seriously? Adam is everywhere. These red carpets are just because he looks good. They give him promotion. He debuted his single on probably the biggest radio show in the country. He had a great little guest spot on Oprah (who invited him back to perform after mentioning his CD)…..and who knows what is coming up in the next couple of weeks before the AMA’s…..the freakin’ AMA’s which is going to be THE biggest piece of promotion he could hope to have……and it’s the best promotion, Adam being Adam doing what Adam does best. I fail to see the lack of marketing and promotion……

  43. GMAforAdam:

    *round of applause*

Brilliantly put. I agree. I was a big fan of Cookie, and still am, but I have never, ever followed any Idol (or any musician) like I have Adam. It’s crazy. I mean, it just is. But I was one of the people who cried when Adam lost. I am so over that (Yay for Kris, no one lost, Adam isn’t unhappy, etc.), but at the time I thought, World, WTF? This guy is SPECIAL. Paula gushed about him from Top 36. By the end, it was unanimous. This guy had the IT factor.

I want to read everything about him, see him in every interview, hear him sing every song. It was like this when he was on Idol and it’s moreso now. No more covers, baby (except I am still good with MW and FG and ACIGC and Come Home in particular), just original music.

Soaked is my favorite track. I cannot wait to listen to it over and over.

What will we do when it’s S9? How to watch without Adam? :(

  44. Okay, so my son, who does remixes and writes dance music, just got offered his first record deal. He is leaving for a European tour today and came by to tell us the news about his record deal.

As he was explainining the deal to my husband, I pitched in with some things I had learned from this site. My son was surprised with my knowledge. :) I told him I had been reading about the business side of the music industry from the blog I visit about Adam Lambert. Then, I laughed and said, “You know I love Adam Lambert.”

Guess what? My son, who is 24, a music hipster, and never watches AI said, “Who doesn’t?” That has to be a good sign.!

  45. Also, Adam BETTER do some ‘belting’ I love those high notes here and there.. they really set him apart from the others’ ¦

me too ‘“ I love it when he wails

    I love it too.

  46. Grrr…..we need our edit back please! I meant to say ‘these red carpets AREN’T just because he looks good….’

  47. Can i ask you some questions?Anybody can answer….How is Adam’s single FYE doing in the market sale or airplay?Need to ask because I’m also curious about Adam’s being known by the people outside AI bubble, thanks in advance.

  48. Meanwhile, @EWMichaelSlezak remains curiously silent, tho he weighed in (of course) on Allison. Did he hate the snippets that much?!

He must. It doesn’t surprise me though. Adam was never really his type. He just tolerates him for now. If Adam succeeds he will continue to just tolerate him.

Do we know who wrote the Rabbit Foot song? I guess that is only available through Itunes and AO if we pre-order the CD.

  49. Kudos, Lynne! Make sure to keep us posted.

And: Iconic!Adam. God, please let it be 11/23…this is horrible…

Weezer is coming to Boston next month. Tix are $50, so I am prob not going (saving up money for several Adam Tour dates), but if he sang Pick U Up, I would not be unhappy. (I know he won’t…I just want to hear in its entirety. It’s one of my favorites.)

  50. OMG, if Adam sang *Soaked* on Oprah, I think I would die!!!

I so love what I’ve heard of Sleepwalker too, though.

I’d almost bet he’ll sing FYE though. And, I love it too, so that’s ok with me. He has to promote his single. At least, that’s the way I think it works.

Hell, I don’t care what he sings. I just want to see him and listen to him sing. I just love this Adamstorm!!!!!! WOOOOOOOTTTTTT!

    (I have a problem with squeeing…lol! But, I really did once) ;)

  51. Guess what? My son, who is 24, a music hipster, and never watches AI said, ‘Who doesn’t?’ That has to be a good sign.!

Lynne, that is so great! And, congratulations to your son!

  52. Do we know who wrote the Rabbit Foot song? I guess that is only available through Itunes and AO if we pre-order the CD.

We know Adam co-wrote this one per his tweet.

adamlambert I also wrote on four songs on the album. “Strut”, “Aftermath” “Broken Open” and “Down the Rabbit Hole” (iTunes bonus track)

Is ITUNES messing up or is FYE just not selling very well?

ITunes is still messed up. They have FYe under album then under single then the numbers revert back to 2:00 this afternoon. I think it’s a wash for today.

  54. Is ITUNES messing up or is FYE just not selling very well?

Well, there is no banner for it ANYWHERE, and it is not listed as a new release or new and notable, or…anything. :(

TfM is still at #150. Nada for FYE. Bitter.

  55. Aww, thanks @Suebrody. I know exactly how you feel. I’m finally getting a little more comfortable talking to my sons about Adam (cause they laugh at me). But, my son in HI does appreciate his talent and I send him vids all the time. He understands his mom…lol!

I’ve watched AI from year 1. Have always been a sucker for musical talent and love the *cheesy* show. I remember the heartbreak when Daughtry got booted. Mostly, the person I’ve liked has won.

I can’t say that I was surprised when Adam didn’t win (notice, I didn’t say lost…lol). That was because I had found mj’s and knew the threat was there. I was sitting at my computer watching and when they said Kris Allen (who I really, really like), I just got up and went into the other room. I didn’t even watch him sing NoBo. I know, my bad. I wish Kris all the luck in the world.

But, Adam’s album is so amazing, even tho we’ve just got 30 seconds of snippets. OMG…what can I say? Actually, it’s all been said.

The Storm rages on and I feel secure in the knowledge that Adam will be around, showing us even more amazing things, for many, many years. I truly feel this.

BTW, I’m not a fangirly type. I either love it or not. This guy is something totally from another planet….the Planet Fierce, of course.

I actually read every post on every thread of this board about Adam. I really do..lol!

Oh, and I totally love TFM too, Sue!!! Going to go listen to it and FYE right now!!!! Got a few friends who aren’t AI watchers hooked too.

    Life is good!!!

  56. I am not sure if this has been mentioned, but I saw Adam on E!News (Ryan Seacrest) this evening. They showed the 2012 black carpet event and showing different stars but only Adam spoke! He said something about feeling surreal listening to his song in a movie.

  57. Lynne, congrats to your son. Since he writes dance music, what does he think of FYE (the title) or the snippets? Interested in a musician’s take.

Hmm, is that Reuters press release a sign of trying too hard? I can’t wait for Adam to actually release the album and perform. He’s always had to prove himself over and over, and that’s what he’s doing now, he has to reach people who don’t care by giving them a show when he performs on TV. And if that performance is awesome and gets youtubed, as it will, and goes viral… It’s a nice sign that FYE the single seems to appeal to non-fans. I was listening to some Beyonce today, and man, her vocal inflections are nuts. The way she sings on “Halo” and “Sweet Dreams” is crazy and almost annoying, though of course she’s got a great voice, but the tone of her voice at times is hard to take. Maybe because it’s so good. Sometimes, just sometimes, Adam’s voice seemed that way to me. And not to defend Slezak, but I don’t see him being anti-Adam or just tolerating him. He said that he found Adam’s voice hard to take at the beginning of AI and then he came around, and I think that a lot of others felt the same way.

I’m just hoping that amazing voice + charming personality + good lucks + massive stage presence is enough these days.

I wouldn’t count on Oprah. Just because she said to come back and perform on the show, the holidays might mess it up, but hopefully if it’s not in December, it’ll be sometime. Come January, most AI watchers are going to forget last season (ok, maybe they won’t forget Adam and Kris, but they won’t necessarily buy their stuff).

  60. Ellen is confirmed for Adam: Tuesday 12/01/09 CBS-TV 11:35PM ET/PT Adam will be a guest on The Ellen Show. Ellen tweeted the confirmation.

Adam has done a number of embargoed press interviews — timed to come out in the next 2 weeks.

Adam was the only star of the “black carpet” premiere on E!News tonight!

Here are the credits for the iTunes Bonus Track: “Down the Rabbit Hole” Written by Adam Lambert, Evan Bogart and Greg Wells. Produced by Greg Wells.

At the bottom of the RCA press release was this:

Personal PR: Roger Widynowski, 19 Entertainment, +1-310-461-1788,
rogerw@19entertainment.com; or Label PR: Jamie Abzug, RCA Music Group
    Publicity, +1-212-833-5587, Jamie.Abzug@sonybmg.com

Is it normal to have someone like Roger (VP of Publicity at RCA Records) listed as “Personal PR” contact for a 19R recording artist? Have past Idol alums had this level of RCA exec handling their PR personally? Seems unusual to see Roger listed this way.

Finally, who at 19 is managing Adam? There is no one but 19 listed. Is Fuller actually managing Adam. However is, kuddos from me the PR, Marketing and Promo is fantastic.

He had a great little guest spot on Oprah (who invited him back to perform after mentioning his CD)’ ¦..and who knows what is coming up in the next couple of weeks before the AMA’s’ ¦..the freakin’ AMA’s which is going to be THE biggest piece of promotion he could hope to have’ ¦’ ¦and it’s the best promotion, Adam being Adam doing what Adam does best. I fail to see the lack of marketing and promotion’ ¦’ ¦

ITA: Twitter is just another abusive and harassment tool. But it makes some people feel important.

  62. Re: Michael Slezak

He tweeted a few days ago that he was all tied up in some corporate meetings or retreat. Then he tweeted that he has a lot of stuff he needs to write about — he’s probably just trying to catch up with what he needs to write/post. He hasn’t weighed in on the snippets from Kris’ album yet, either. But I expect to hear somethign from him on both the latest Kris and Adam developments pretty soon.

  63. Then, I laughed and said, ‘You know I love Adam Lambert.’

Guess what? My son, who is 24, a music hipster, and never watches AI said, ‘Who doesn’t?’ That has to be a good sign.!

Well good sign or not I agree with him….(I bet you couldn’t tell) It is good to hear that younger males love Adam…

  64. does anyone have a connection to Sirius XM ? I keep listening to Pop Hits station (1) and (2) The Blend/ thinking they gotta play FYE soon!

maggie mae, I’m a subscriber and previously requested they play FYE. This page contains the link to request a song http://www.sirius.com/siriusxmhits1. On the same page is an interview with Adam listed under Inside Our Studios.

  65. De-lurking to cheer up Sue B.
Running errands earlier this evening, searching stations, stopped on 92 Pro FM (Providence) when I heard something wonderfully familiar… FYE!!!!!
It sounded great and I just know we will be hearing it OFTEN!

  66. ITA: Twitter is just another abusive and harassment tool. But it makes some people feel important.

What are you trying to say?….. Twitter does not make you important…Oh jeez….Well back to Facebook….

  67. One thing I like about Michael Slezak is that he is fair (well, he really disliked Danny, but I am talking about the Adison trio), along with Matt and Noop Dawg). He is very funny but I think he takes his job really seriously (did you watch Realite in FIVE PARTS? It was great) and is very smart. So I think it matters when he weighs in, b/c a lot of people read EW.com. You are right, girlygirl, I am sure we will hear from him soon. Hopefully, he likes both Adam and Kris’s snippets.

De-lurking to cheer up Sue B.

Thanks. :) I appreciate it. If I didn’t believe that Adam was wildly talented and deserved this kind of attention, I wouldn’t say anything. He really is the only artist I have ever felt this drawn toward. BTW, someone at work said, I hate Adam Lambert. He has a terrible voice. (I kindly disagreed.) Then he said he loved GaGa (and he is going to her concert). So. Okay. Different (or similar) strokes for different folks.

  69. iTunes charts and datafeeds are not correct. Don’t complain to RCA or 19, it is an Apple iTunes problem. And they are aware of it.

  70. You know what, GmaForAdam~
I sometimes feel that the fact that Adam did not win AI only made him even more endearing to us than he already was. Does this make sense?
I suppose that having a son who is Adam’s age makes me feel very “motherly” protective of him.

  71. i cant imagine anyone saying that adam has a terrible voice, even if they dont feel he is as incredible as some of us do. thank you for the link to request hearing adam.

i am also confused about the whole itunes thing..i preordered adam’s album and i received a free download of fye…does that count on the itunes chart?

  72. Meanwhile, @EWMichaelSlezak remains curiously silent, tho he weighed in (of course) on Allison. Did he hate the snippets that much?!

I have a sneaking suspicion that Mr Slezak got some scoop pertaining to Adam and is waiting to unleash that, and his reviews of the single and snippets, later this week.

  73. i cant imagine anyone saying that adam has a terrible voice, even if they dont feel he is as incredible as some of us do. thank you for the link to request hearing adam.

i am also confused about the whole itunes thing..i preordered adam’s album and i received a free download of fye’ ¦does that count on the itunes chart?

My dad hates Adam’s voice, but my dad doesn’t know popular music. My mom didn’t LOVE his voice but appreciated it. I was surprised that this work-study student LOVES GaGa (not Katy Perry) but not Adam. I intend to play FYE it is released and see what he thinks.

adamlover, did you get yours from AO? That doesn’t count toward iTunes.

Word on the street (from someone who is going, posted a few days ago) is that Adam is SINGING but not being interviewed. Which is just fine with me. For now.

I do not know what street that is, but my understanding is that Adam will be doing a stand-up interview with David then performing with his band. And I was told that by a Letterman producer, so it is a credible source. Also, in my experience, this could change based upon 1. the final show guest list 2. If the monologue is long (funny news day OR 3. the producers change their mind.

Anyway you look at it, with Letterman’s current post-scandle ratings, this is a big deal.

  75. FYE played on 97.5 Lansing (MI) Hits Station tonight-my daughter’s friend texted her when it was on, knowing of my (ahem!) interest!

  76. Q3, the street is re: a poster on mj’s thread who wrote a couple of days ago that she was getting VIP seats (b/c her friend works for Letterman) and that he was only singing. But that’s her street, not necessarily Adam’s street.

  77. And they are aware of it.

I’m glad they are aware I hope they fix it soon.

  78. I read a few comments and I was kind of bummed to see not many liked ‘Whataya Want From Me’ and ‘Pick U Up.’ I actually like the sound of those two a lot.

I have to agree..I was feeling somewhat in the minority..but off of 30sec I think both of these have potential to be hit songs!

  79. I read a few comments and I was kind of bummed to see not many liked ‘Whataya Want From Me’ and ‘Pick U Up.’ I actually like the sound of those two a lot.

I love Whataya Want From Me. I think it hs single potential!

  80. Adam was just mentioned on Jay Leno! Something about breaking up with his boyfriend and how he’s now dating Kris Allen.
At least according to my mom haha.

  81. I read a few comments and I was kind of bummed to see not many liked ‘Whataya Want From Me’ and ‘Pick U Up.’ I actually like the sound of those two a lot.

I love Whataya Want From Me. I think it hs single potential!

I like both of these a LOT!!! They are catchy tunes. I hope one of them gets released.

  82. Personal PR: Roger Widynowski, 19 Entertainment, +1-310-461-1788,
rogerw@19entertainment.com; or Label PR: Jamie Abzug, RCA Music Group
    Publicity, +1-212-833-5587, Jamie.Abzug@sonybmg.com

Q3, Your the best!! I always felt Adam was being handled differently. I read an article recently, I just can not remember where, I wished I bookmarked it, but it was a firm that was also handling Susan Boyle, Leona Lewis, Adam Lambert, and some one else (can’t remember who) but the person said only these four people were their top priority for 2010. I think they are looking to set Adam up for TV and Movie deals.
Maybe your good research can find out?

As far as I am concerned I have grown to love every single 30sec snippet…I think they all could be hits…I know this will be an Album I will listen to over and over again and love every song on it

  84. You folks have probably discussed this already, but can anyone tell me what happened to RedOne’s contributions to the album?

  85. Thanks to all for your good wishes! We are really excited for my son. Unfortunately, when he gave us the good news, we mainly just talked about the new developments for him, so I never had a chance to play the snippets to see what he thought of them.

I will email him and ask him what he thinks. The kind of dance music he makes is pretty edgy, and so it has a different kind of vibe than what is on the radio.

Mainly, from previous conversations, he thinks Adam has amazing vocals. He did mention that he can’t believe how much promotion he is getting, and that he feels that his label must really be behind him. He also just laughs when I say I hope he does well and gets a great career going. I think I mentioned before on this blog that when I said that one time when he was visiting, he just laughed, looked at me with the amusement , and said with complete confidence, “Don’t worry. Adam Lambert will be fine.” (It did actually make me believe that.)

I did play the snippets for my husband, who by the way is a member of the academy and really likes TFM, so one sure vote if the song is nominated (he says sheephishly that he kind of likes big cheesy ballads.) Anyway, my husband was pretty impressed. He liked the snippets and told me he was glad he did since he was sure I would be playing the album over and over during the drive we take for Thanksgiving to be with family. Good that I have his approval. :)

  86. I am too busy listening to YT or my ipod to listen to radio, but I was very surprised to see my favorite station listed in the ADD’s. Albany, NY WOO HOO. May have to listen more or find out how to make requests. :)

  87. Ugh, Leno just made a really bad joke about Adam’s split from Drake. He said Drake left Adam for Kris Allen, which means that Adam finished second again.

What is it they say? Even bad publicity is publicity? Not sure that’s true in this case. :(

  88. Q3, Your the best!! I always felt Adam was being handled differently. WHAT??
    awesome

  89. I can absolutely see Adam transitioning to acting if he chooses. He is a natural on camera. He has the background, but music may be where his heart lies. Who knows

I loved this part of your post….yeah that is one vote for TFM…I hope my family is as understanding as your husband… :-)

  91. Ugh, Leno just made a really bad joke about Adam’s split from Drake. He said Drake left Adam for Kris Allen, which means that Adam finished second again.

shouldn’t have it made Adam the first and Kris the second in terms of Drake’s romance history?

  92. He liked the snippets and told me he was glad he did since he was sure I would be playing the album over and over during the drive we take for Thanksgiving to be with family. Good that I have his approval.

Hmmmm. Confined place to convince hubby that Adam is great. He will be driving and I CONTROL THE RADIO. Great idea Lynne, thanks.

  93. Why can’t we edit???
ETA my trip is three hours. It would be great to listen to Adam for three hours!

  94. I’ve been wondering what happened to the RedOne songs for days now. Someone upthread said that Adam decided to change direction during the tour. I’m confused – isn’t RedOne the producer for Lady GaGa? Isn’t that the direction he is taking on at least a few of the songs, including FYE? I’m surprised that not even one of those songs made the cut. Anyone care to offer me more explanation?

Also, I played TFM and FYE for my ex-husband (54) and my son (23); ex hated FYE but liked TFM; and my son liked both, but especially FYE – neither of them ever watched Idol, and only know of Adam from me. When I mentioned that I really want them to sell well, so that I will be sure to get more music in the future they both laughed and said not to worry – he’s already a star. Guess that’s good news – but I’m still giving all my kids his album for Xmas.

  95. Roger Widynowski left RCA about two years ago to take a job with 19E.

He handled the PR for Cookie last year. He does a great job and I’m happy that Adam has him. He may also handle Kris.

  96. As far as I am concerned I have grown to love every single 30sec snippet

    ‘ ¦

The more familiar I get with them, the more I love them! I can’t wait to have the rest of the songs.

I can absolutely see Adam transitioning to acting if he chooses. He is a natural on camera. He has the background, but music may be where his heart lies. Who knows

I also see him starting of with musical roles. A la Jennifer Hudson. then work his way up to more serious roles. Adam always said he wanted to do some acting in the near future. People complain Adam is getting too much hype, my guess is Adam’s management team are looking to make him more than just a singer, but a brand.

  98. my guess is Adam’s management team are looking to make him more than just a singer, but a brand.

ITA He is being groomed for big things. We are watching the groundwork now. This has been such a great experience because of that. I don’t know where he will end up but it will be bigger than I think any of us realize at this time. Just hope I am around to see it all!!!

  99. I just have to comment on the part of FYE where Adam *wails* the word *scream*. I get so much pleasure out of this since so many people commented that Adam *screams*.

To me, he has never screamed or scheeched…ever, ever NEVER! LOL!

So, I find this humorous and just love it!!

Keep on wailing, HBIC!! We love it!!!

I need to go back and watch some of the tour vids. I sure miss seeing him nightly. But, that will change soon, too. Here we goooooooo!!

OK, gonna do it ***flails*** OMG!!!!

Nope, The firm that is handling Adam is handling only about 4 or 5 people. Kris and no other Idol is included.

  102. I’ve been wondering what happened to the RedOne songs for days now. Someone upthread said that Adam decided to change direction during the tour.

If I remember correctly didn’t Adam say he had a bit of an identity crisis once the show ended on where he wanted to go musically..this was right around the time of RedOne it seems…maybe it just did not click.

  103. Nope, The firm that is handling Adam is handling only about 4 or 5 people. Kris and no other Idol is included.

I don’t know what you’re referring to but Roger’s name is right there on the press release. Like mischa said, he’s Adam’s 19E publicist. He’s the guy with long blonde hair that’s always tagging along with Adam at events.

  104. hehehe! I’m sending all my friends emails with the link to AO so that they can hear TFM and FYE. I’ll convert some of them, I’m sure of it!!

Sorry, I haven’t got the qoute thing yet, but I laugh when I see everyone pulling their hairs out worrying about Adam, not me. Yes they want him to do well sales wise, which he will. The money is when he goes International, they love their OTT performers out there, they are not concerned about Adam selling a zillion CD in US, And his future won’t be in music only.

  106. To the post about “scream to wail”

I said scream because it’s what best decribes.. believe me… I know he’s singing notes, and not “screaming”, it just a easy way to get my point across, I’m a musician and Adam by far is the most talented best tone, greatest, bad @$$ mofo I’ve ever heard… and I LOVE the Wails”, they are unreal! So please don’t take it as a negative.

  107. sweetni4 That’s what I mean. There are so many road he can take, it is great to watch from the beginning. How many times does one get to follow this kind of history? I’m 59 and I have never seen anything like it.

  108. I’m just so excited!!!! Sorry to go on for so long. But, it’s ADAM, ya know?? LOL

OMG I feel the same way…some of my posts are super long but I love Adam and I feel like Im making some sort of contribution when I post about him cuz Im just so invested…

Lack of marketing and promotion? Seriously? Adam is everywhere. These red carpets are just because he looks good. They give him promotion. He debuted his single on probably the biggest radio show in the country. He had a great little guest spot on Oprah (who invited him back to perform after mentioning his CD)

umm, Im actually inclined to believe the poster that said there was a lack of promotion from his management. All of the examples you listed have to do with Adam’s talent and are not projects that his record label/management created, they pretty much just let it happen.. analyze it and you’ll see:
    1) he was offered the opportunity to sing TFM because the producers or whoever really thought his voice would fit the song well, probablt judging from his performances, not because his management asked them to do that…he was asked by them…
2)Oprah had him on her show because his fans or viewers voted him as the reality star they most wanted to see and she said his performances were “so dynamic” on the show which again had nothing to do with his managment
    3) Ryan is the AI host and seems to be a fan of Adams and in the interview he thanked Adam for giving his song first for them to premiere it..this does seem like it was coordinated by his management

All of this spawned from his fans and ppl in the business that admire his talent.

The things that I do think his management has set up are the AMA performance, the GMA thing and the Letterman appearance.
But as of now they are doing NOTHING. No radio promo, no banners, no endorsement deals…nada. They are letting the fans do all of the work but we can only do so much…ppl outside the AI bubble need to be exposed to him.
They better hook him up with a really good music video director at least…
Adam has said they 19/RCA has been very supportive but thats not enough…they need to promote him more to garner more album sales and more radio play.

JMHO..oh and Im enjoying reading the comments ;)

  109. I think the movie is giving tfm legs, before itunes went kaput it had moved from 150 to 77. Unless the 77 was wrong I think the tfm sales will be looking better as time goes…if itunes reports them correctly.

  110. I want…Adam promo on ITunes.

Like a banner or something. Cuz I think some people think TFM was his real first single and that’s why they’re not aware of FYE right now. TFM got a banner…

    That is all.

I’m happy that Adam got a writers credit for Pick U Up! Tho not for Loaded Smile. The production is pretty good for this album :)

  111. ok, just to play “devils advocate” maybe 19/RCA doesn’t care if he is successful in music. Maybe they have other plans and already know what they are going to do down the line. I have no idea what I am talking about, it’s late, the thought just crossed my mind and I wrote it down. :)

  112. I listen to TfM every night. Well, okay, several times a night. Okay, the video and the song itself. And I believe that I will ALWAYS prefer it to FYE. I do NOT think that TfM is outdated. Nooo. It is a big massive movie soundtrack song. It is not super hip/cool/cutting edge, but it does just what is supposed to do. It’s BIG.

Now, if someone else sang it, would I like it? Probably not (I am not a Steven Tyler fan except Aerosmith, Toys in the Attic, SCREAM ON, no, Dream On ;)) But Adam. Oh. Heavenly. From the understated beginning to the way he swoops and soars (I can hear it in my head) and it just gets more and more passionate and ends in a tiny plea…

GENIUS. And only Adam could sing it that way. And this is why I love it and love him.

    FYE: Fun. TfM: EPIC.

    JMHO.

  113. I don’t know what you’re referring to but Roger’s name is right there on the press release. Like mischa said, he’s Adam’s 19E publicist. He’s the guy with long blonde hair that’s always tagging along with Adam at events.

19 is a very big management company. They recently expanded to include all forms of media, TV, Movies, Sports. Roger may be Adam’s publicist but there are other entities within 19 that are looking to brand Adam gearing him towards TV and Movie deals.

  114. Yep, TfM is gaining leverage. Could this be why there is less of a push for FYE than there might be? People are talking about Adam right now b/c of TfM and I do not think this is a problem. It is a PART OF HIM. The song is NOT all he does, but he wouldn’t have said yes if he thought, Man, this sucks and will ruin my career. Right?

  115. Er. I don’t think Adam has as much control as people think.

If they’re pushing TFM right now at the expense of FYE then, worst mistake EVER.

TFM won’t get people to buy the album like FYE could if they just gave it some darn promo.

  116. suebrody I share the same love for TfM. I would be very happy to see him sing this on Oprah or somewhere. I hope I do get to see him perform it live sometime, it is so powerful and he does GREAT with POWER.

  117. I’m kind of regretting TFM’s existence now… even though I really have nothing to regret because I didn’t decide anything lol.

    That’s what I think.

  119. Ok, I am going back to my nightly mantra. Adam will be fine, sales will be fine. Adam and TPTB know what they are doing. HAVE FAITH. Nite all.

  120. Once the single has legs
it will be less work and the rewards are high radio play. Radio play determins placement on the charts. If fans don’t request
the song will go nowhere, what happened to TFM could happen to FYE.
TFM was Adams song, his vocals, his emotion, his song 100% Adams and failed because a majority of fans never supported it. TFM is a beautiful song and should have top the chart if not top 40 a nice home on HC or AC. We fans are supposed to support everything even if some of the material sucks, that what we do for our idol/s.
Oh, well my two cents worth. JMHO only.

I’m confused as to how often we should request his song be played on our local radio station. Once a day, several times a day, several times a week? I was under the impression that claymates did Clay no favors by constantly pressuring djs to play his songs, to the point of where they got fed up and would no longer play them.

  121. Oops… the link came through wrong – sorry about that. I’ll try again:

I don’t know if this has been posted yet (so I apologize if it’s a repeat), but for Adam fans who want to request FYE from the radio stations, here’s a list of the top 50 radio markets, and contact information for requesting Adam’s music:

  122. Anybody have any idea when the video for FYE will be out? Should be interesting. How much you wanna bet Adam pushes the envelope more than a little? Talk about fangirly’ ¦’ ¦ Lord, but this reminds of way back in the long ago (high school and college days) when I used to hang out by the speakers at Stones concerts. Bowie and Queen were also on my gotta see any which way I can list. Maybe that’s why Adam has multi-generational fans. He’s a tad 70’s glamour served on top of pure 80’s presentational rock. Tasty no matter how you serve it.

  123. they are not concerned about Adam selling a zillion CD in US

    Really now.

    Well I sure hope so.

I still think his marketing team is screwing up this week tho.

  124. I love Time For Miracles. That song is back to back on my itunes with For Your Entertainment (which I love). But after FYE is done playing, it’s TFM that touches me.

  126. Me, too, dab1234. Adam will move up thei Tunes charts tomorrow, more adds, it’s all good. TBTB are too stupid to let this one get away from, them. Ciao for now.

sweetni4 That’s what I mean. There are so many road he can take, it is great to watch from the beginning. How many times does one get to follow this kind of history? I’m 59 and I have never seen anything like it.

I’m 47, from NY, met a lot Musicians and celebrities in my days. Knew all the DJ’s in the NY club scenes, knew Madonna before she was Madonna when she dated my DJ friend Jellybean who help her get through some doors all before MTV came along. Madonna was sleeping in abandon buildings in the Lower East Side when I met her. So I kind see how thing can work behind the scenes. I knew from day one, Adam was going to be a Superstar

  128. OOPS, I meant TPTB are too SMART.

Freudian slip and no editing power…oh oh….

    Laterz.

  129. I would be happy to be at Upright Cabaret. If I could go back in time, I would be there. So anything Adam is just lovely for me….!!!!!

  130. Ugh, Leno just made a really bad joke about Adam’s split from Drake. He said Drake left Adam for Kris Allen, which means that Adam finished second again.

LOL he’s probably bitter that Adam is going on the Letterman show because it has higher ratings than his…burn!

  131. Roger Widynowski was Kat Mcphee publicist, she was all over the place during her season and we know what happened with her music career with RCA. DJs are a fickle bunch and every artist kisses thier booty to get thier music played, radio tours are first thing on the agenda for the idols. I think Adam would like to be successful in the states and then take on the over seas market. JMHO

He’s our superstar!!!! Thanks for your post!

  133. @lorenzo! Please, please don’t think I was talking about you. I was talking about everyone who said this during the AI season, and peeps who said this on other message boards that I go to. This was not directed to you at all. Sorry if you misunderstood. It was not directed to anyone specific, just some of the people in general that I have seen/heard say that.

I totally agree with you that Adam is a bad@$$ mofo…oh yeah, baby!!

I love the wails, too!! I did not take anything you said as negative.

I totally respect another musician that appreciates Adam’s talent! :)

  134. Well, I haven’t left yet, good intentions and all that. Actually, I think Adam is along for the same ride we are on. He is letting them take him where ever they plan. It’s a roller coaster all right. Nite again, really this time.

  135. Is no one else concerned about FYE at this point at all? Alright then. Maybe I should just stop worrying…

  136. @dab1234…you probably already left, but wanted to say that I’ll be 59 on the 20th and I feel the same as you. I have no fear….I am confident that Adam will make it to the top. I have never been afraid. Not sure why, I just feel this in my heart.

I’m an old hippie from the 60’s and love my music. I might not be schooled in music, but I know what I like, and I know what I LOVE!!

I love Adam and his voice, and his awesomeness!! He’s got it all, the personality and the passion. Need I say more?

    And, I didn’t say -totally- either…oops..heh

  137. T4M has already been submitted for Oscar consideration, I would not worry about it now, wait until Jan, Feb and you will see it blow up. FYE, the radio DJ’s are going to spin that song to Gold, everything takes time and having fans calling them and emailing them unless they request it isn’t going to change that. Think long term.

  138. I need some help here. Trying to find the words on Planet Fierce for Adam’s song. I get so lost there…sorry. And, sorry for being OT, too. Just want to send them to some friends.

Adam ROCKS my world!! wheeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!! :)

Very cool article from Ann Powers. It’s new. And quite interesting.

As Lambert plays the role, a rock star doesn’t have to be an angry punk, a brooding post-grunge puritan or a hair-metal style macho dude in a dress. These approaches all have their purpose, but Lambert projects something different: outrageousness that’s totally at peace with itself.

Wow, what a great read. Absolutely fascinating, Thanks adamaloha!

  140. Time for Miracles

It’s late at night and I can’t sleep
Missing you just runs too deep
Oh I can’t breathe thinking of your smile
    Every kiss I can’t forget
This aching heart ain’t broken yet
Oh God I wish I could make you see
Cuz I know this flame isn’t dying
So nothing can stop me from trying
    Baby you know that
    Maybe it’s time for miracles
Cuz I ain’t giving up on love
    You know that
    Maybe it’s time for miracles
Cuz I ain’t giving up on love
No I ain’t giving up on us
I just want to be with you
Cuz living is so hard to do
When all I know is trapped inside your eyes
    The future I cannot forget
This aching heart ain’t broken yet
Oh God I wish I could make you see
Cuz I know this flame isn’t dying

You know I ain’t giving up on
Oh I ain’t giving up on us

  141. adamaloha….OMG!! That is the best article I have ever read. Adam says so much…can’t even express how I feel about it right now. Just perfect. I hope many read it because it tells his true feelings about what he is doing. So overwhelming….so, so true.

TY so much for posting this. Adam has such an amazing heart. And, he’s is so true to himself. I’m so proud of him!!

I hope he knows that some of us older peeps get it too.

I know I do!! And, it’s not about the sexy, glittery boy (not that that’s a bad thing, mind you). I just GET IT!

You ROCK, HBIC!!!!!!!!! *reduced to tears*

  142. Thanks for posting that article. It really makes some interesting points, and she actually talked about things with Adam that no one has talked about with him before.

    I just love the guy.

  143. Wow, what a great read. Absolutely fascinating, Thanks adamaloha!

You’re quite welcome, Ravengirl. I love this quote from Cavallo:

“He can sing almost any note on a guitar from the lowest to highest,” said Cavallo, who thinks Lambert’s sense of style and soul, combined with that range, puts him in the realm of the greats. “And if you’re in the studio with him and say, ‘Can we get a little more dirty?’ he’ll go ‘Waaaaah!’ And then the microphone is melted and the speakers have exploded.”

  144. @zzatrms…ty so much. Got it and will forward it to my friends. I know the words as I listen to that and FYE all the time…hehehe! Just easier to c&p to email it. :)

    Love your posts, btw :)

  145. Maybe that’s why Adam has multi-generational fans. He’s a tad 70’s glamour served on top of pure 80’s presentational rock. Tasty no matter how you serve it.

ITA, lots of charisma, a positive attitude and so humble, too. And I also thought right away, here is our next superstar.

I like TfM. After it’s nominated for an Oscar, we’ll be breathing a little easier.

Leno doesn’t compete with Letterman anymore. Dave has much better ratings than Conan, his new competition.

Leno was making jokes about Adam during his run on AI8, and I think was the first to make any. Usually they involved Adam’s eyeliner; Leno said that, because of the economic downturn, Adam was forced to use Sharpies.

In the space of just a couple of weeks last March, Adam became an American cultural icon. Everyone was talking about him around the water cooler. People who don’t normally lower themselves (their description) to watch American Idol were suddenly watching for the first time. People who never discuss TV suddenly wanted to talk about Adam. Lots of people became sort of obsessed with him. It had to do with his singing talent, it had to do with his persona, it had to do with his sincerity, it had to do with his ability as a performer, it had to do with a lot of things. But whatever wave length people were on, from age 5 to age 85, they got it.

Even here at mj’s, which I sometimes think is just a front for a David Cook fan club, people got it and then some.

  146. Garyj…I so agree with you! You just don’t see humble like Adam does it. It’s so sincere in everything he says and does.

Can’t stand Leno. I watch Letterman almost everynight. Love his dry sense of humor. Leno just hits nasty and harsh. At least Dave laughs at himself.

I listen to Classic Rock all the time. It relates with what I love about Adam, but Adam has stepped it up a notch!

Oh yeah, and everything else you said describes what I feel. And, I truely think he is an American cultural icon. Time will tell, but I have no fear at all. *I ain’t skeered* Never have been.

  147. I listen to Classic Rock all the time. It relates with what I love about Adam, but Adam has stepped it up a notch!

I think you’re really on to something here. I think Adam could pull off a Classic Rock revival. We’ve already seen what he can do with Led Zeppelin’s Whole Lotta Love. Nothing against Robert Plant, but Adam took it to a whole new level where it’s never been before, and people couldn’t get enough. It was such an impressive performance on so many levels. And every time Adam performed it on the tour, it was just a little different, but just as good, maybe better than before. And it was one of the main reasons everybody wanted to attend the AI summer concerts this year.

One of the best kept secrets is that a lot of the AI summer tour attendance this year was repeats, and I’m thinking that a lot of this was due to Adam — and some of it to WLL, probably.

This is why I knew he was a superstar. Same thing at my job, people who would never watch American Idol was talking about him. Every week it was the same thing. Never seen anything like it. They all said this guy is going to be HUGE. There are times when things are just meant to be.

  149. I can’t actually explain how Adam makes me feel, but it is all good, I can say that. Adam sort of gets me in touch with something sacred, beautiful from many years ago-it comes and goes. He is a great singer. He is a beautiful wonderful free spirit. Adam made me realize that I should play more, look around and love life, and spit out everythhing that isn’t me and be myself. I love this kid. I am a protective mother hern when it comes to him. Okay, that’s all I’ll say. Well, except for “God Bless and protect Adam and grant him much happines, love, and success.” -because…….

  150. Garyj, Adam really brings out a lot of the classic rock to me. Not just what he did on tour, but in his own personal way of singing. I think he said that’s what he would do, too. And I believed him…always and forever…lol!

He did change it up all the time, on tour. Had to love that! I can’t even count all the vids I watched. Just too much fun!

I feel that he will give all of his fans (and fans to be) all they want and more. It’s so enlightening to watch this happen. Epic, somes to mind.

I was in a store the other day and they had music playing. A song started and I thought…hmmm, I know that song. It was Bowie’s *Let’s Dance*…lol! So, I’m walking around singing along and thinking…too slow…pick up the pace…it’s not Adam..lmao! But, hey..I knew all the words!

  151. GaryJ:

One of the best kept secrets is that a lot of the AI summer tour attendance this year was repeats, and I’m thinking that a lot of this was due to Adam ‘” and some of it to WLL, probably.

Tru dat. I’ve been meaning to posit the repeat attendance theory of why Season8 and Season7 AI Live Tour had essentially equal revenue and attendance even though ratings were down by several million per week for S8.

Don’t know how much of it was due to Adam, but anecdotally, I attended the AI show for the 1st time this year (of a possible 3 tour seasons I was paying attention to). First show, took my daughter… then impulsively went to 2 more shows myself. And all 3 shows were primarily to see Adam. Would not have gone otherwise (didn’t go to the AI tour the other two years even though I had a strong favorite each of those years).

  152. ianaleah…perfectly said and I understand. Exactly the way I feel. It’s hard to put into words. You did it so well. TY

Adam makes me want to be a better person. May sound silly, but hey, it’s what I feel.

He said he wouldn’t let us down, he would surprise us. He’s so honest and straightforward. And, he can still be that silly, little boy.

Wow, just Wow!!! I hope he never changes.

  153. GaryJ. I love your posts and ITA!!! Listening to Cryin’ today was so amazing I heard the original the other day on the radio and both my daughter and I agreed that the studio recording that Adam did is just better. And goddess bless Robert Plant, I will always love him, but yes, Adam took WLL to a whole new place of fabulousness that created a sub-culture of post-modern Dead heads who followed Adam all over the place this summer. I think the Bowie Medley captured some those repeats as well.

Astounding, really, considering the time, money and energy spent by many many people and the sheer willingness to sit through the rest of the Idols many times over for just 20 more minutes of Adam. I don’t think I would’ve had the patience, but if I could’ve seen Adam live again without the rest, I would’ve gladly done it.

  154. I think the reason why Adam appeals to the older generation, is because he reminds me so much of when music was good music, pure. And he appeals to the younger ones because they see something in him like how Michael Jackson appealed to the generation then. When you have kids dressing like you and adults going to Halloween parties dressed like you and impersonators making a living like you, you know you’ve made it.

  155. I love this kid. I am a protective mother hern when it comes to him. Okay, that’s all I’ll say. Well, except for ‘God Bless and protect Adam and grant him much happines, love, and success.’ -because’ ¦’ ¦.

People just seem to love Adam and feel protective of him. Me too; I sense he has some kind of vulnerability there, and needs to be protected. I hadn’t thought much about it until I read what you said. But it’s true.

Sometimes people surprise you when it comes to Adam. I know this guy who politically is in the Dark Ages, and when he brought Adam up, I thought, “Uh-oh, here we go with some kind of smart-aleck remark,” but it wasn’t that way at all. He said he would be proud if Adam were his son. I almost passed out. For some reason, older people take a liking to Adam just as younger people do.

I think a lot of older people see past the eyeliner and the fingernail polish and recognize the real person, or at least they’re big enough to give him a chance. I know this elderly couple who watched American Idol for the first time this year (they really fit the profile there), and they almost went to Tampa to catch the AI summer concert. They think that Adam is breaking new ground with the eyeliner and the fingernail polish.
I didn’t have the heart to tell them that Robbie Smith of the Cure was wearing that stuff 20 or 30 years ago.

  156. Love the way Anne Powers love for Adam seems to know no bounds – and that she is so articulate about it.

    Just awesome.

On the flipside very annoyed that Australia ITunes doesn’t have FYE yet. We got TFM about same time as US… so WTF? Does anyone know if any international iTunes have it yet? Maybe I will have to update my US iTunes after all…

  157. Oh and in a footnote to the Ann Powers article – this is just the best Adam description next to Glittery Alien from Planet Fierce…

freaky adventurer in the boudoir of the damned

  158. Heh, Heh, Just finished reading the posts and I am so HAPPY that I didn’t run into the Acid Rain Drippers posts tonight.
In fact, I am stoked that so much Fan Flailing and Love Festing has taken over. Yay Adam Lovers and supporters!!!!!
Also, relieved, that the discussions are less intense( not focusing on some precise word spliting, or number crunching)…All valid at times but such a relief to just be’n pumped with have’n the musics flavour.
We are ready to buy and do our part for this talented but gracious
human who is so gorgeous, that we cannot get enough of his spectacular pics.
I am thrilled with most of his tunes and believe he has 4-7 hits, IMHO.
My faves are soaked, FYE,Strut, Loaded smile, Fever, Sleepwalker, Aftermath, and,of course, TFM.
    I’m never wrong.HEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!

  159. On the flipside very annoyed that Australia ITunes doesn’t have FYE yet. We got TFM about same time as US’ ¦ so WTF? Does anyone know if any international iTunes have it yet? Maybe I will have to update my US iTunes after all’ ¦

UK ITunes doesn’t have FYE either, in fact it’s not available in the UK anywhere yet.

  160. Not only is FYE not available in UK yet but if you look at Amazon UK it says single will be available on 15 November…a week and a half away !! Grrrr !

  161. Australia doesn’t have an Amazon, so will iTunes it will have to be… am sure we will get it here but million dollar question is WHEN!!! Time to do a bit of research…

  162. That Ann Powers article is the absolute best article on Adam Lambert I ever read! The one part when Matt Pinfield was talking about rock- NAIL. HEAD. The only people who don’t seem to understand that “rock and roll” is more than just one type of sound are the people who have not progressed into the millenium. Music has evolved. If you want Zepplin- listen to f’ing Zepplin and stop wishing for that sound to come back, because it never will, and when it does, it is nothing more than imitation.

And it convinces me more than ever that us Adam fans are not delusional- the industry is comparing him to Elvis and MJ- not just us, mwaaaaahhhhaaaaaahhhhhaaaa- the song Vindicated by Dashboard Confessional was playing through my head during that whole article. That was not just Ann Powers, another fan girl singing his praises- that was Matt Pinfield, Ryan Tedder, and Rob Cavallo, for crying out loud. People who have seen and worked with the best of the best.

    LOVED this:

His No. 1 challenge, which I think he’ll pass, is stay true to himself and to roll with the punches as they come,” said Rob Cavallo, who has worked with artists from Green Day to the Dave Matthews Band and produced four tracks on “For Your Entertainment.” “He’s going to have successes. He might have people against him. Which is exactly what happened to Elvis, the Beatles, to Prince. . . . There will be controversy, and there will be opinions. If he stays true to himself he will be one of those great artists to watch over the years.”

  163. “I want to put it out there that I don’t take myself all that seriously,” he said. That’s one of his mantras. “The dress-up supports that; the fantasy element supports it. People want to talk about whether I have rock cred, whether I’m selling out, the theatricality, the gay stuff. . . . Chill out! And just enjoy yourself. It’s not that deep.”

    He makes me smile!

  164. http://www.calendarlive.com/la-ca-adam-lambert8-2009nov08,0,6244120.story

This article is f#%king great! I think it has been discussed on many of the threads here. He is a great talent, that is a given. He is knocking down walls and letting everything mix from music to personal. I think what the pro’s recognize here is that he is strong enough to pull this off and survive the fight. I know he didn’t want to be poster boy for a cause but when he stood up tall and faced the world he became that. That is the fierceness he portrays. Inside he may be a ball of mush but the professional hides it well. He will need energy for his roller coaster ride but more I think he will need strength and a hard shell. I think he can pull it off and the world will be a better place when he is done. Sounds sappy, sorry. Really, this is LONG overdue and he is the man to do it. History…
So, is it the 23rd yet???? I want the rest of my tunes!

  165. I’m not a young kid but I fit with this comment and agree 100% especially when you see so much crossover in music today.

“There was a different world before, with the rock ‘n’ roll thing,” he said. “Today, the same kids who love the Beatles and the Stones and Zeppelin could love Radiohead, and Adam Lambert. Young people today are not as worried about being genre specific.”

  166. Itunes must still be wonky- i couldn’t find FYE on the live feed. There is no way in hell that song is not in the top 1000. I am pretty pissed about this because (the non bubble) buyers won’t be able to purchase this by seeing it on the chart. And from another tweet this morning they haven’t fixed the problem with finding the song either.

  167. Ok, I also want to add that the ‘mother hen’ in my wishes he had someone in his life to share this with. That ride will be great fun, but it also will be emotionally draining. Having someone to share the joy and support the hits is important. Not saying Drake was ‘the one’ but wish there was someone there. Alone is tough, even with a ton of friends.

  168. Squirrely- That fits me too. People have to understand rock has evolved. There are many sub genres. The only people that are even considered rock anymore are bands like Nickelback, Daughtry and some SS like John Mayer. The two biggest rock groups out there right now- Muse and KOL- are considered alternative, not rock. There is another group called Wolfmother. Love them. cross between Black Sabbath and Led Zepplin. Why are they not huge? Because some people think they are too retro, and some people have evolved. If a group like that is not huge, you can pretty much forget the second coming of Led Zep.

  169. If a group like that is not huge, you can pretty much forget the second coming of Led Zep.

the funny part – Led Zep was very theatrical. I have an older Wolfmother album – I love them. Also how is KOL considered alternative and not Daughtry?

Its charting as an album again, #29 in pop albums… are these people in itunes stupid? Of course it is in top 1000, even Want and NoBo are.

  171. I don’t think the charts are moving none of these numbers have changed in over 12 hours.

  172. why are people so freaking out over ITunes charting being messed up?? Maybe it is, maybe it isn’t. Does it really matter in the long run? Eventually stations will play the song, Itunes will get their chart fixed, people will buy it. Why does it matter if they buy it today, tomorrow, or next week??

I didn’t buy it from ITUNES. I already purchased it from Adam’s site.

  173. I think the article resonates because Powers and her interview subjects are able to articulate what so many of us feel about Adam. He is a beautiful, powerful, loving man with a unique, god-given talent.

He is all about the music, but he will sing it his way and those who work with and deal with artists recognize this and accept it. They are drawn to him because he has the talent to deliver the goods. He is a perfectionist. He understands his strengths and is not afraid to assert himself.

His voice draws us in but it is his spirit that captures our hearts. He is as varied as the music he sings, bright and shiny, but with a nod to the dark side. Only in Adam’s world, the dark is fun, too.

There is much in the article to admire– his intellect, his humor, his self awareness, his courage.

But this, to me, is the quote that gives me the most hope. It’s also the one that illustrates his innate idealism and, perhaps, his naivete. I love him for the innocence and the optimism.

blockquote>”I think the next generation coming up is a little bit more open-minded,” he said. “More accepting, more colorful, more multi-genre, multiethnic, multi-sexuality, which is more utopian. Or I think so. I hope so.”

I hope so, too. Adam’s voice is his gift and his vision is like the bonus track on an album. Something extra to share.
It isn’t that deep– and yet… it is.

  174. Adam’s voice is his gift and his vision is like the bonus track on an album. Something extra to share.
It isn’t that deep’“ and yet’ ¦ it is.

THIS… ITA… It really is that deep. This quote sends shivers down my spine because like I said before, this is history in the making and we get to watch from day one.

  175. I just came her to tell you all about the Ann Powers article, but I guess you all got it already! It’s a great great article.

  176. austintoo It really is a great article. It is the only one I have ever bookmarked. Want to be able to go back and look at it a few months or years from now.

  177. For everyone outside of the U.S. – given what has happened with the single, you realize that there is a possibility that we will not see the album on November 23…

I am really surprised the the single is not available on itunes Canada – we have always had everything available to us at the same time as the U.S. including all of the season stuff.

  178. I agree this is history. In the US, I can’t think of any singer beginning his career as openly gay. He’s like the Jackie Robinson for music. Jackie broke racial barriers. Adam will break sexuality barriers. Both just humble men, being themselves, doing the thing they love to do.

  179. spring2009 NOOOOOOOOO Please don’t say that. This is hard enough.

  180. lorismile Too bad the US is still living in the Dark Ages. Would have thought we would learned something from the 60’s. Yet, here we are. Sometimes I feel so disappointed. Living through the 60’s was tough but this is ridiculous people. It is 2009. Well, every battle needs a warrior, and Adam is here.

  181. lorismile- i probably shouldn’t stress about the sales- Carrie didn’t do that great in single sales and look what her album is about to do- maybe that is the strategy with Adam- let people just wait and buy the album- make it hard to buy the single?

  182. Wow, what a great article from Ann Powers. I was really interested in the comments by Matt Pinfield and Leslie Fram. WRXP is my main station in NY – listen to it all the time. Matt and Leslie are fantastic jocks with a huge amount of music knowledge. They also are pretty renegade on that station and have been known to cross genre lines – for example they love Brad Paisley and have had him on their show more than once I believe. The question is, would they take a chance and play Adam despite the fact he is already going to be on Pop radio. That station is a huge supporter of both Muse and Weezer so if somebody like Rivers Cuomo, who appears, via the MTV interview, to be a big fan of Adams was a supporter, and if they really liked a song ( I would vote for Soaked, Music Again or Pick Me Up for them) it appears to be possible that they might take a chance on Adam. Willing to be interviewed for this article is certainly positive, I think. In any case, not holding my breath, but if Adam could get airplay on a station like WXRP, I will be really impressed with both him, and them.

And I will spastically flail on the floor in glittergasmic glee in a way I have not since emulating the jellyfish dancing drunkenly to Rock Lobster in 1986.

    Thanks,adamaloha for the great article.
I copied and pasted on my Word and enlarged the article to make it easy to read and to keep it forever.

Also, thanks to all of the people who discussed and praised this article.

I love Adam very much but not articulate enough to express my love and admiration for him. Thanks to all people here.

I love to come here to read and learn.

Anybody who hasn’t read this article, I recommend you to.
Is LUV here? She can do another school report citing this article. I remember she did a report on Adam or gays among teens or somthing like that. It was very brave of LUV.

  184. Studio 57, thanks for posting that quote from Cavallo. What a very smart and insightful guy. Obviously, he and Adam really connected.

  185. That Anne Powers article is the best I’ve read – ever. And that includes Rolling Stone. What I love about it is that, in addition to praising him musically, she and those she quotes all express great respect for Adam the person. This is an article worth keeping.

And I learned something I didn’t know – he studied opera as a young man!

  186. Not sure if this was posted before… it’s really hard to keep up with all the posts. Just checked on VH1 homepage, Adam is listed as #9 under most popular artists. Wonder how they came up with that rating, when we barely have a single released, just starting the radio spins, no video yet, etc. Great to see it though. Also, they have the TFM video front and center under Music Videos and Playlists.

  187. You’re welcome Chicagolaw. The Prince comparison was the one that really stood out to me. Anyone remember this?

His stylistic choices brought him trouble as an opening act for The Rolling Stones for two Los Angeles Coliseum shows in 1981, where he was infamously pelted with garbage while wearing bikini briefs, leg warmers, high-heeled boots, and a trench coat, eventually booed off the stage.

  188. Adam is listed as #9 under most popular artists. Wonder how they came up with that rating

I might be wrong silverblue- but there is probably a lot of Adam fans on the VH1 message boards. They probably vote there. My guess is Adam fans probably started congregating there after Michelle Collins wrote her first blurb about Adam.

  189. sprin2009- I am not too worried about the album, I think we will get it on time. It went up for pre-sale on Amazon uk possibly even earlier than in the US, and the release date seems to be ok…

I am not sure I will be able to wait until the CD gets there (I like getting the hard copy of stuff I really like)… I might end up buying it twice, on iTunes first…

  190. 3) Ryan is the AI host and seems to be a fan of Adams and in the interview he thanked Adam for giving his song first for them to premiere it..this does seem like it was coordinated by his management

For all his seeming clout, Ryan’s still just a dj. He doesn’t get to decide what the station premieres or, really, much of anything that goes on on his show. I’m sure he can make a pitch. But those in power decide, and that happens between the station management and the record label. So, yeah, Adam’s handlers got him the Ryan premiere. It doesn’t happen any other way, as I understand it.

  191. I agree with you Studio57. I think there is more solid profit for many many people from the album. Why? Because it’s much easier to track down and monitor sales of a physical CD thus everybody gets their fair share.

I for one is patiently waiting for a CD. It’s actually cheaper at $10 for 14 songs or just $0.72 each vs $1.29 on mp3. Quality is much better. And I can transfer the song/songs to an ipod with no sweat. A CD is also a good backup just in case an ipod goes south.

Furthermore, after ripping the album to a computer I can sell the CD if I decide not to keep it.

  192. my guess is Adam’s management team are looking to make him more than just a singer, but a brand.

Don’t I keep reading that this is the new plan? That the music industry has pretty much concluded that you’ll never get really big sales from music any more, so the only way to go after the big money is to market people as brands, so you can try to rake it in from events and merchandise and as many other things as you can think of?

  193. I am not sure I will be able to wait until the CD gets there (I like getting the hard copy of stuff I really like)’ ¦ I might end up buying it twice, on iTunes first’ ¦

    Absolutely.
iTunes immediately because I can’t wait, and CD’s for several reasons- the sound quality is better, I can keep them in several locations and not have to keep moving the iPod, and I can leave them in the car without having to hide the iPod and cable from car-breaker-inners every time I go leave the vehicle.

Sad commentary on my life that plugging an iPod in and out is too much effort, but mine are always short trips and I spend more time fiddling with the thing than I do driving. So CD’s are better, and as my car sound system is better than any mp3 capable thing I have in the house, this is my listening spot of choice.
    TMI.

  194. JazzRocks: And I learned something I didn’t know ‘“ he studied opera as a young man!

Now I don’t feel bad that I left a lot of my opera and artists of that genre cds collecting dust since I’ve found Adam.
So it will be a little detour, but I’ll go back to the classic later.
Now I just want to enjoy Adam. Fresh and electrify!!!

  195. “For a first-time artist, he definitely had more control creatively than I’ve ever seen a new act given, but Adam is the kind of person that would rather not put out anything than put out something that was less than 100% his vision.”

Good grief. To this quote from Tedder in the Ann Powers article. Wow.

  196. cmc25- I am still suprised at how many people love to buy the physical CD.

Is a CD ripped to a computer really better quality than the Itunes? I would have never thought that.

  197. For a first-time artist, he definitely had more control creatively than I’ve ever seen a new act given, but Adam is the kind of person that would rather not put out anything than put out something that was less than 100% his vision.’

Good grief. To this quote from Tedder in the Ann Powers article. Wow.

That must have been what people were talking about last week about Ryan Tedder saying that TPTB told him to just let Adam do what he wants.

  198. “For a first-time artist, he definitely had more control creatively than I’ve ever seen a new act given, but Adam is the kind of person that would rather not put out anything than put out something that was less than 100% his vision.’

    AWE!!! This makes me happy:)

  199. Is a CD ripped to a computer really better quality than the Itunes? I would have never thought that.

Much better, yes. How much you notice it depends on your sound system and your ears.

  200. Is a CD ripped to a computer really better quality than the Itunes? I would have never thought that.

Yeah, it’s why some of us dinosaurs keep buying those outmoded cds! … Of course, I’m one of the dinosaurs that keeps playing my old, carefully preserved vinyl, too, lol…There’s just something about analog. (although I hear that’s coming back …)

  201. Please tell me people are buying the single. Of course sales matter. I don’t know about creating an Adam brand, he is a singer now who is trying to sell singles and albums. The way they rolled out his singles seemed so messed up and unorganized. I thought they had a master plan for him since he is gold? Gosh I hope he doesn’t get screwed by poor management and marketing strategy. Oh, the lack of radio spins worries me too. Radios certainly don’t buy hype. Sorry for being a negative Nancy, but I think we expected something better than what we have seen so far in terms of his sales and marketing.

  202. Hmm, I have been a bit out of the loop latetely… can someone summerize how the FYE single is doing on the radio, the charts and on itunes etc. I have read some post that itunes is a messed up so I guess we can’t count that but how will FYE get onto the charts? The added play and sales?

Is there a picture of this?

  204. As if I didn’t already love Ann Powers and didn’t already love Adam, THIS happens. Genius. And I was wondering why she hadn’t weighed in on the snippets. Dang, Ann, sorry. Guess you were busy out-doing yourself.

I could quote the entire article and love all the quotes that have already been brought over, but this one particularly resonnates:

“I think the next generation coming up is a little bit more open-minded,” he said. “More accepting, more colorful, more multi-genre, multiethnic, multi-sexuality, which is more utopian. Or I think so. I hope so.”

  205. oh- before i forget- This new list has Rob cavallo as the producer on the Muse track- could SOAKED be the other song with the ORCHESTRA?

  206. I’m pretty sure before Adam begins his career as an actor, cultural icon, brand, living legend etc., he still has to sell some music. I think RCA (his label) would be in favor of that. :)

I think iTunes is still too messed up for accurate numbers.

  207. saga, FYE is not doing very well on the radio. It got 43 spins on Monday, 28 on Tuesday, and 32 yesterday. Looks like it’s going to be a slow burner. Don’t know about sales of FYE yet.

  208. What happened to edit function? FYE got 53 spins on Monday, not 43.

Yeah, I do remember this. But I also remember that in DC a few years earlier somebody thought that the gospel group Mighty Clouds of Joy would be a good opening act for the Stones. … They didn’t get pelted with anything, but fans were not happy about that either! … Opening for the Stones was probably not a lot of people’s best gig!

  210. So CD’s are better, and as my car sound system is better than any mp3 capable thing I have in the house, this is my listening spot of choice.

Me too! Got to have the physical CD to blast on my car speakers. I am also an antiquated freak as I read every single word in the liner notes. The print out i-Tunes ones are just not the same!

  211. FYE’s numbers:

    Pop: 77 (+14)
    HAC: 78 (+18)

77 spins on Top 40 and 78 for HAC.

  212. Oops, no edit. So 77 spins (for the past 7 days on Pop) is what that means. It’s gaining but should blow up next week when more stations add the songs to their playlists.

  213. I’m pretty sure before Adam begins his career as an actor, cultural icon, brand, living legend etc., he still has to sell some music. I think RCA (his label) would be in favor of that.

Hey, I’m not saying it’s going to work! I’m just saying that I keep reading that, in their desperation over slumping and slumping and slumping sales, many labels are thinking that their new ploy is — Make ’em a brand. … Sell *product* — of many kinds — rather than trying sell that old-fashioned junk, music. …

Like, I think we shouldn’t be surprised if the next artist somebody introduced is introduced in tandem with a breakfast cereal bearing their name …. In Adam’s case, it wouldn’t be cereal, but maybe eyeliner … or handcuffs or something.

Hi guys, I was so pleased to see this link posted here! I’m a Lambrit and use that site daily to share info with other fans in the UK and across Europe (judging by our membership list). Nice to see others are seeing it too! :-)

And as for the pics…AW bless. COuld he be any more cute. Well, we know that he can as he seems to get more and more adorable everyday! :-)

  216. Lambert studied opera as a teenager, then turned away from lessons for a while. “I started rejecting the proper way to sing and I started singing,” he said. “I was listening to more and more rock music and wondering, wow, how does that person do that with their voice?”

He discovered there was no name for what rock singers do. Lambert’s singing, like his taste and his personal style, put him beyond a boundary.

“I met with [a vocal coach] over the summer and talked to him about it, and the funny thing was, you know when I do those little, crazy, screamy notes? He’s like, ‘We don’t really have a way to teach that. It kind of goes outside of our box.’ Those notes that sound sort of like rock-scream, no one ever taught me to do. I sort of had to teach myself. You just do it. It’s just a sound you make.”

We need to give a terminology for Adam’s little, crazy rock-scream notes !!!

  217. Requested, they played FYE. sent feedback received
very nice reply. Hope lots of fans request local or online.

Hope you get rid of the snake!!! We love the song too!

Ann Powers’ article is absolutely THE best I’ve seen to date.

One of the best kept secrets is that a lot of the AI summer tour attendance this year was repeats, and I’m thinking that a lot of this was due to Adam…

I never, ever thought of going to an AI concert, until I saw Adam Lambert. Planned on going to one show, but after the first concert, I had to see him again. Saw three shows before the summer ended.

I would be happy to be at Upright Cabaret. If I could go back in time, I would be there.

Me too. Those performances are what made me a fan before I ever heard Adam sing a note on Idol. Still listen to them all the time. Think the closest he’ll come to anything like those performances in the future will be acoustic versions of his own material.

  219. Sorry dlee- can’t find a pic of the Rolling Stones concert, but it did happen and is well documented. Will this really bad Prince album cover do?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prince_(album)

Ewww to the Prince picture. I really don’t care what Adam wears or how he does his hair unless it makes him look ugly or unattractive in some way.

  220. I asked the other day and no one replied. I want to request on KIIS LA (Ryan’s Show) and can’t find out how to do it. I have searched that site over and over and nothing comes up.

  221. Yeah, I do remember this. But I also remember that in DC a few years earlier somebody thought that the gospel group Mighty Clouds of Joy would be a good opening act for the Stones. ‘ ¦ They didn’t get pelted with anything, but fans were not happy about that either! ‘ ¦ Opening for the Stones was probably not a lot of people’s best gig!

Lucy, in his bio Anthony Kiedis also says opening for the Stones is a really tough gig, because by now most of the fans are middle aged people who paid hundreds for the tkt and just want to sip champagne and listen to the Stones make them relive their youth!
Or something along those lines… [note: I am 97% sure it was AK, but I have read a few rockstar bios recently and I might be mixing it with someone else ;) ]

  222. I know Itunes still isn’t up to date today but I was wondering how do you see a chart beyond 100. I have seen people on here talk about a chart of top 1000 and top 200. Where are those?

  223. Starryeyed- tell the Glambits we appreciate it!

Lucy, in his bio Anthony Kiedis also says opening for the Stones is a really tough gig, because by now most of the fans are middle aged people who paid hundreds for the tkt and just want to sip champagne and listen to the Stones make them relive their youth!

These are exactly the types of people that can’t accept Adam. They are stuck in their ways and refuse to accept anything new as far as the musical landscape is concerned. Everything must fit into nice little boxes. It’s eaither mainstream rock or nothing.

  224. Lucy, in his bio Anthony Kiedis also says opening for the Stones is a really tough gig, because by now most of the fans are middle aged people who paid hundreds for the tkt and just want to sip champagne and listen to the Stones make them relive their youth!

    Interesting, Thea. Thanks …

Of course, it didn’t seem to be that easy back in the 70s/80s when Prince and the Mighty Clouds were trying it, either! I guess a lot of people have just wanted to see Mick, even before they were middle aged!

I asked the other day and no one replied. I want to request on KIIS LA (Ryan’s Show) and can’t find out how to do it. I have searched that site over and over and nothing comes up.

I had the same problem, couldn’t find anything online. I just called in. After 2 days of trying, I was finally able to talk to someone. All I said was I would like to request FYE by Adam Lambert and the lady said “It’s a good one”. I will call again today. You can also tweet the request.

  226. “”Oops, no edit. So 77 spins (for the past 7 days on Pop) is what that means. It’s gaining but should blow up next week when more stations add the songs to their playlists.””

Yes, my local station said they did not have FYE yet but had TFM and played it for the first time yesterday!

  227. Lucy, in his bio Anthony Kiedis also says opening for the Stones is a really tough gig, because by now most of the fans are middle aged people who paid hundreds for the tkt and just want to sip champagne and listen to the Stones make them relive their youth!

Well, in 1981 the Stones’ fans weren’t quite middle aged! My son was in high school and he went to the LA concert, until now I didn’t know or at least didn’t recall that Prince was the opening act. At the time I was 38, same age as Mick. I didn’t get around to seeing the Stones in concert until their A Bigger Bang Tour hit the states a few short years ago… By then I was past middle aged, but it was totally AWESOME! And most of the people in the audience were way younger than me. It was the most fun thing I’ve ever done.

I think it’s tough to be the opening act for any “iconic” singer or group. It will be interesting to see who Adam pairs up with.

  228. I think Itunes is getting around to fixing it. When you go to the store and click on top albums, there is a blank page

  229. Hope so, Studio57. What a fail yesterday was for ITunes!!!

BTW, I got a nice tweet from Aimee:

    @AimeeMayo

@suebrody1 Chris downloaded the snippets from FYE. We have listened over & over. Still in shock “Sleep Walker” is on there! STUNNING CD

I am so happy for her, and can’t stop listening to her album (it’s seriously beautiful). She may never come down from the clouds after the album is released. ;)

(Back to read thread. New Adam thread needed today. lol)

  230. Ann Powers is AMAZING. This is my favorite part of her article:

Then he corrected himself, slightly. “Sometimes it is deep. Some of the songs on the album are,” he admitted, pointing to the song “Soaked,” a sweeping epic about the loneliness of one-night stands that’s actually a cover of an unreleased track from Muse, and a very serious one at that. He also singled out “Broken Open,” a ballad he co-wrote, which he said is about encouraging a lover to become vulnerable enough to cry.

“But sometimes it’s just, ‘This is hot, I feel good, this song makes me want to go get a drink and flirt with somebody and have a good time.’ Good energy is just as credible as the cathartic, dark, heavy” stuff, he said. “It’s just as important!”

Yep. That seems to sum up Adam. :)

  231. Is no one else concerned about FYE at this point at all? Alright then. Maybe I should just stop worrying’ ¦

I’m more worried about the crappy roll out of it by tptb. The song has a lot of potential to do really really well on the radio, and then in sales (I can easily see it among the other songs in Top 40 now) – but with the weird adds schedule, itunes eff up, etc. I don’t feel it’s being handled well, which seems to be a common theme with all three of the people who were signed this year :-(

What ticks me off is that, I seriously think Kris, Adam, and Allison have stronger material than most AI alums, and even than the Davids last year (Crush was catchy, LO is NOT as good as LLWD, FYE, or FIBOU). But these guys aren’t doing as well this year, which pisses me off :-(

Ok, calming down. Must read the Ann Powers article everyone is talking about to make me feel better :-)

And I’m excited about the Letterman appearance! I actually don’t watch him (though I usually just watch Colbert Report instead) – but he’s number one in late night now, isn’t he? Or at least beating Conan. (Though I like Conan a lot).

  232. Please note that if you have ripped the CD to your computer you can’t legally sell the CD unless you delete the copy on your computer. If you keep the ripped copy and sell the CD it is piracy, and you are depriving Adam of a sale … Please support Adam by being sure your copies of his music are all legal copies.

  233. I am ASTOUNDED at what a fuckup iTunes is. Never mind all the Adam Lambert issues (can’t find, isn’t in the list of artists, etc)… but I can’t even browse singles. I keep going round in circles. And please… don’t let there be a support email available. I’ve spent about 15 minutes on the Apple site trying to get help. No phone numbers, just an electronic form of those stupid automated phone thingies. ARGH!!!!!

  234. suebrody: so happy for Aimee! I absolutely love Sleepwalker from the snippet. Adam does sound sexy – just like she said!

Having listened to those snippets more times than I can count (*ahem*), Aftermath is the only song I don’t like. I want to skip over the 30 sec. snippet (LOL) not a good sign! But on the upside, I’m having a hard time deciding which one I love best among all the rest :-)

  235. [with snark] I am amazed that the professional posters are so in-tune with the music and entertainment business and have the innate ability to classify something an absolute failure everyday. From so much of what I read Adam is the most mishandled person to have ever been awarded a recording contract…and it just goes to prove that he is being set up to disappear as quickly as he appeared.

On a much cheerier note I loved Ann Powers interview and commentary. For me, she just gets it and I feel like she says everything that I want to express…but she does it a thousand times better.

I’ve been on the musical roller coaster for a long, long time and I have watched Singers come and go. I have watched the one hit wonders, and the teenage idols (who still sing to sold-out venues at great clubs throughout the Us), I lived through Elvis and the MJ and the Beatles. I’ve been to more concerts than I could possibly count and have seen acts like the Rolling Stones perform in the mid 60’s for less than a 1000 peeps and again in a stadium 40 years later for 80,000.

I may not be an expert and have nothing to rely on but “gut instinct” which hasn’t let me down all these years. Adam is just what is “needed” in the music industry right now and he WILL have continual success for a lot of years to come. He has the two most important things necessary for success: musical talent that is unique, and a “brand” that separates him from the rest. Rock/pop on Adam!!

Really? I like it a lot (to each her own, of COURSE). And not just b/c of Aimee (lol). There are others I don’t like as much (Music Again). But I think each and every one has something to make it worhty of being on the album. I am just eager to hear Down the Rabbit Hole! That could be REALLY glammy (my guess).

Again…I lost the page for Adam adds…can I get it again? I PROMISE NOT TO LOSE IT THIS TIME. There better be some…it’s Thursday…and iTunes can continue to suck it, alas.

  237. suebrody: no worries! Something for everyone on Adam’s C, I think.

To me, Aftermath just seems like an odd fit. Like it wandered over from a Daughtry disk. I’m not a big Daughtry fan (sorry Chris fans, he seems like a good guy!) so that’s probably why.

  238. I am not sure what’s going on with the Net. Have been trying to do some work but several sites are down.Even Forbes was up and down.

iTunes went crazy on me so i will have to forget iTunes for a while . Even Amazon froze and , said sorry something wrong etc.

Too much electricity in the Net air. Has to be Adam’s fault. He is the only one I know capable of causing spontaneous combustion of the mind.

Have to focus on work now ; when that album is out, for me- it’s going to be –
    For Your Excitement .

  239. Really? I like it a lot (to each her own, of COURSE). And not just b/c of Aimee (lol).

Sue, Aimee didn’t write “Aftermath.” That’s the one Adam wrote with Allison Porter. It’s definitely my least favorite of the snippets. BUT, you can’t judge a song by its snippet, so I’ll wait to hear the whole thing. :)

  240. Sue, Aimee didn’t write ‘Aftermath.’ That’s the one Adam wrote with Allison Porter.

oh suebrody, I didn’t realize you thought I said I didn’t like Aimee’s song. I LOVE Aimee’s song!! LOVE IT. It’s one of my favorites from the snippets. Like Zsus said, I was referring to Aftermath, not Sleepwalker!

  241. itunes has been a mess since yesterday, and Adam’s stuff is not the only stuff involved…it still is not fixed today…..

  242. Canada iTunes still does not have FYE up. Such a fiasco considering some European countries already have it.

  243. Again’ ¦I lost the page for Adam adds’ ¦can I get it again? I PROMISE NOT TO LOSE IT THIS TIME. There better be some’ ¦it’s Thursday’ ¦and iTunes can continue to suck it, alas.

LOL – here is the link suebrody. Two strategies – bookmark (tee hee), and I actually have a gmail thread going strong, where I just keep sending important Adam links, pics, etc back to myself – it keeps them safe, and easily accessible in my gmail account for future reference :-)

    http://addboard.mediabase.com/menu.asp

This is the main adds page – I typically select Song History, enter the artist’s song or name, and that brings all the adds up.

  244. Also, keep in mind about adds – iirc Monday and Tuesday are the typical days radio stations add the song – so it would not be unusual to have no adds again till next week.

  245. I never, ever thought of going to an AI concert, until I saw Adam Lambert. Planned on going to one show, but after the first concert, I had to see him again. Saw three shows before the summer ended.

LOL! Count me in that group too :-) Originally only bought a ticket for the local show, then later bought tickets for two more shows (which required going out of town, getting a hotel, etc.) And I even turned down U2 tickets to fund the Adam-frenzy (I have no regrets ;-) )

In comparison to last year, I LOVED David Cook, but wasn’t even that excited about the tour once it came around. No need to see it a second time, that’s for sure (though they all did a good job and I did enjoy it).

Oops! I always get the two mixed up, b/c I believe Aftermath is the one by ferras/alisan/aimee. I think Sleepwalker is gorgeous. I had a feeling it would be really pretty; there are so many great tunes on her album.

    YAY! :)

  247. [with snark] I am amazed that the professional posters are so in-tune with the music and entertainment business and have the innate ability to classify something an absolute failure everyday. From so much of what I read Adam is the most mishandled person to have ever been awarded a recording contract’ ¦and it just goes to prove that he is being set up to disappear as quickly as he appeared.

Aww, Tess – I’ll ban myself from making any negative nelly comments for awhile now :-) Sorry. It’s mainly the super uber paranoid “want Adam to be the biggest success of all time” in me that gets frustrated (sometimes without any reason to be).

My take is, I remember when we were talking before about Adam’s chances for future success:

He is SO phenomenally talented (imo more talented than almost any top music charter these days), and if he has music that is good enough for his talent (what many of us feared he wouldn’t get considering the AI alum track record for 1st albums) there was really no stopping him.

Well, we have FYE, TFM, the album snippets, and I think many of us agree they are all really really good, strong songs (or at least, most of the album is really strong) – and so suddenly the fear of bad music is gone, and what we’re left with is the fact that Adam has everything in place to do really well in the music industry. No matter how many itunes eff ups there are in the world, there is NO REASON imo for him to not do well, with his talent and strong material.

  248. I am soooo excited, just downloaded FYE from iTunes Spain!!!!!!!!! They also have TFM and the it seems that it has had very good sales. So, I did not have to wait for Amazon UK to have it available on Nov. 15.

  249. No way to edit :-(

It was very easy to find the song on iTunes Spain, I just wrote “For your Entertainment” in the search box, and there it was. It also shows if you write Adam Lambert.

  250. I agree Mary—Adam should have everything going for him right now. I am “over” the album cover, lol (actually, it makes a lot more sense now); the music is stunning (thanks, Aimee!); he has great things coming up at the end of the month. There is no reason for him not to do well, it just has to be handled well—and I think it is. iTunes is a screw up, but I don’t think he was going to have huge opening numbers there for the single anyway, too many fans have already bought off AO and Amazon.

  251. My husband is such a sweetie. He has gone out to buy me an IPOD so I can download FYE and Time for Miracles :)

  252. I have no idea if this is accurate, but FYE just showed up on iTunes on the Pop chart at #21 and on the overall Top Songs chart at #44.

  253. The search feature is fixed too for Adam- you can put in his name and FYE is the 5th song listed after TFM, NoBo,Want, and Is Anybody Listening

My husband is such a sweetie. He has gone out to buy me an IPOD so I can download FYE and Time for Miracles

What’s that old song? “I’m loving that man o’ mine” He’s a keeper!!!!

  255. He is SO phenomenally talented (imo more talented than almost any top music charter these days),

Of course, when it comes to actual *musical* talent, a very large proportion of the Idol finalists are more talented than the top-of-the-charters…. Clearly, it’s *not* musical talent that gets you at the top of the chart, at this point. It might not hurt your ability to get there, but it is in no way a necessity.

That being the case, I think the only sensible thing to hope for any Idol, Adam included, is that they’re able to make music that they want to make and that reaches a solid audience that buys enough for them to keep on making music. There’s just no way to predict whether the particular amalgam of stuff they’ve got will ever attract a really huge audience because attracting a huge audience isn’t a matter of musical talent — or even performing talent, it seems to me.

Frankly, with Adam, I don’t think there’s the least doubt that he will be able to get a solid, very satisfying career out of all this and that he’ll be able to continue doing cool things in entertainment for years to come, producing tons of stuff for fans to enjoy. Heck, his wardrobe’s already showing that he’s doing fine financially, even this early in the game… That being the case, I’m kind of amazed at the amount of worry he’s generating among fans at this point. My goodness, he’s on a major label, they’re clearly excited about him, he gets lots of media attention, he’s got an album out on which every single song (well, snippet, anyway) seems to please quite a few people, and he has millions of different ways he could go in the entertainment world because he’s multitalented and multiskilled, in addition to being attractive and personally magnetic.

I intend to just watch him do nicely. If he doesn’t become the next Britney-sized phenomenon, I really couldn’t care less. Who wants to be Britney, anyway?

  256. It would be AWESOME if iTunes put out a little Adam banner or something. He’s not even under new and notable, never mind what’s hot. TfM is still holding strong. Heh. Intersting that there is still no pic for FYE but at least it’s there and the other ones (Sin Synthetic, for example) are gone.

I want Adam to be Adam. As long as he’s not Britney, I’m good.

  257. We need to give a terminology for Adam’s little, crazy rock-scream notes !!!

Its a rock wail…mixed with head/chest belting and falsetto…when I can sum that up into one word, which I doubt, Ill letya know LOL
ITA The Ann Powers article was awesome…
Itunes sucks! Adam is using his twitter for self-marketing ergo his management also sucks LOL (as of now)
    later peeps!

  258. I purchased Adams song For Your Entertainment on I-Tunes and I received a pictured on my I-Tunes page of Adam with his hand in front of his face, and you look into his beautiful eyes. I got the song, but do not know where he is on the top pop songs. I will go and look now.

  259. I intend to just watch him do nicely. If he doesn’t become the next Britney-sized phenomenon, I really couldn’t care less. Who wants to be Britney, anyway?

    LOL – good point. :-)

Of course, when it comes to actual *musical* talent, a very large proportion of the Idol finalists are more talented than the top-of-the-charters’ ¦. Clearly, it’s *not* musical talent that gets you at the top of the chart, at this point. It might not hurt your ability to get there, but it is in no way a necessity.

Well, ok – when it comes to “voices” I think most AI peeps are better than many pop artists. But I meant “musical” in a broader sense – including the performance level, the “excitement” or IT-factor, the personality, etc. In that contest, I think many AI peeps fall way short of big name stars. For instance, Katy Perry and Britney may not be the best singers, but they have stage presence and charisma to spare, and so are much better poised for pop stardom then say, Allison or Jordin or most other AI stars.

Just based on the “musical” definition above, I think Adam is one of the best out of AI, period (in terms of the full package) – and in that sense think he is better than most current acts out there – imo he could easily rival (or beat) the likes of Britney or Miley for creating the full “IT” package – personality, performance level, voice, musical instincts, etc.

But, my main point was really just that he has the right ingredients now to be successful. And if I just enjoy this ride rather than fretting over everything, I know he will be :-)

  260. BTW – just listened to FYE on my ipod at work (thus seriously threatening productivity) and that song just immediately puts such a smile on my face – it is so infectuously boppable :-)

  261. How is anybody seeing that Star mag article? The link is broken when I click it and when Googling for Star it says the site is under maintenance.

  262. here is the link again to the Star Mag article-I am looking at the article right now open, so it should work

  263. The link to star mag dosn’t work for me blondie … am I right in thinking you’re in the UK like me? .. if so perhaps that’s why .. some links don’t seem to open out side of the US

  264. The link to star mag dosn’t work for me blondie … am I right in thinking you’re in the UK like me? .. if so perhaps that’s why .. some links don’t seem to open out side of the US

  265. apologies for the double post, the net’s being weird at the moment and it won’t let me delete or edit .. ooops

Is the star article implying that Ferras and Adam are an item?

  266. have to delurk to reply to the Star Mag article – they say Adam’s ex I remember an article not to long ago where Cheeks was offered $1000’s of $ to spill the beans on Adam and he wouldn’t. I was impressed that Adam had such loyal and great friends as money talks and friends are usually not that loyal when it comes to $$$$
so because Cheeks is the only ex I know of to me this is just a piece of nonsense just like the one where it was said that Adam & Kris were not getting along.
I have no idea what goes on in Adam’s life but I always got the impression that Drake was just a good friend with benefits but that is just me.

  267. Yup, karenw, I;m in the UK. Looks as though we can’t view Star’s website, for whatever reason.

Even the link from Google’s news feed for Adam doesn’t allow us to view the site. Strange.

Anyway, it seems that Ferras and Adam are an item, according to them.

  268. Here UK:

Adam Lambert Already Has A New Guy!
November 4, 2009 Digg It De.licio.us RSS print email
Adam Lambert has split with his boyfriend Drake LaBry and he’s already found a new guy!

The American Idol runner-up spent Halloween night with pop singer/songwriter Ferras Alqaisi at a private L.A. costume party.

“Ferras had been helping Adam work on his new album, For Your Entertainment,” a friend tells Star. “They have a lot in common, so I’m not surprised Adam started falling for him.”

But one person who was surprised was Adam’s ex, the friend tells Star. “Adam really dropped a bomb on Drake; I don’t think he suspected a thing!”

Pick up the new issue of Star for more exclusive details about Adam’s new love crush and an interview with ex-boyfriend Drake’s shocked mom!

  269. ah thanks Blondie …. if true (and I tend to take all info in gossip mags with a pinch of salt … lol) .. then Adam certainly doesn’t hang around does he? …lol

  270. oops, just saw your post Cindij.

I take most tabloid rags with a pinch of salt. So Adam and Ferras? Whatever.

Sads, but I had a feeling the writing was on the wall with Adam and Drake, what with so much coming up for Adam. The clingy way Drake held onto Adam’s arm after that award/after party thing, and the kiss in the car when they were papped kinda made me wonder about things.

  271. sorry i still can’t edit .. so just want to add thanks to sumidol for typing the article out for those who can’t get the link.

.. yeah .. who knows but if true I don’t think it’s very discrete for Drake’s mom to be speaking to the press

  272. I guess as long as they mention that Adam has an album coming out at the end of each article then it all counts as “promotion and publicity” who cares about what gossip or heresay goes before it …lol

  273. The article said Adam’s ex so I didn’t think that it was Drake’s Mom
either way I just think it is a waste of time to to give this article any more of my energy nor any credibility
the more we talk about it the more the mag thinks they have a hit on their hands
A couple of years ago I saw a special concert with Katy Perry and Ferras, Ferras also spoke about this childhood which was very tramatic he is an interesting person and seemed very likeable and talented

  274. Probably every time Adam shows up anywhere with a guy or is seen talking to a guy, the tabs will be making up stories of how they’re such an item. And what kind of “friends” or “source close to the celebrity” are going to give any gory details to a gossip rag? lol, I know they just want to sell magazines but it amazes me the things they can say about celebs without having to prove that they are true.

  275. That’s funny. Ferras is in Puerta Vallarta right now with David Hernandez. Yes, THAT David Hernandez and Adam was at MClub in Hollywood with a guy last night. Don’t think there is any truth to Adam being with Ferras. They have been close friends for a long time and there are many old photos of them together.
Adam and Ferras must be laughing hysterically right now!

  276. well, because Adam is such a hoopla magnet, mags create gossip where there is none, I guess…. Adam as half of an entertainment industry power couple is more interesting, I guess, with some non-famous guy, not so much, although I am sure the papps are right on Adam’s heels anyway….

  277. Was just checking out mediabase and saw that a Canadian top 40 station just added FYE for the Montreal market today.

  278. Yeah, jun, Thanks for that info–glad to see someone did an ADD on a day other than Monday/Tuesday!

  279. That’s station CKOI-FM.. it’s market rank is 2.. I don’t know much about rankings, etc., but I think that’s good. ;-)

  280. But, my main point was really just that he has the right ingredients now to be successful. And if I just enjoy this ride rather than fretting over everything, I know he will be :-)

    Me, too.

  281. Quick question about the OP – is the GMA concert on Nov 25 or the 24th? I remember it being on the 24th before.

  282. Adam’s TfM video is included on an AI playlist on the front page of vh1’s website….also, he is listed in the top ten for favorite artists and for most popular searches…so maybe vh1 will start playing the TfM video at some point during the 1 hour a day they still play videos

  283. Adam is quite intriguing. So he will continue to be a good entertainment news material. I hope more and more people will hear of him , and check out his music. The album indeed has the makings of a classic in the sense that the best of the industry has collaborated with him and the voice is unique that it defies any definition .
    Ann Powers says it best.

LA Times : Adam Lambert Cool Calm and Eclectic

And its good to see that FYE is showing up in the pop charts and is now no. 22 and TFM is now no. 48. Thought the iTunes charts have been quite wrinkly today.

    iTunes Pop Chart Top 100

  284. Has anyone had a good look at the cover art for the FYE single? I think that Adam is wearing a denim jacket (?) and I started to wonder if it could be … the bedazzled vest of ugliness.

    Slow news day.

  285. This is an interesting description used by Wall Street Journal re FYE the album :

This is the starriest album yet from an ‘American Idol’ contestant. The full track listing for Adam Lambert’s record, ‘For Your Entertainment,’ which comes out November 23, has been released, and it’s an album made by committee.

Yes, it looks like the Entertainment industry came together and decided this is the guy who represents the new sound we wish to introduce .So they all worked together to create the Adam Lambert .

WALL STREET JOURNAL : ADAM LAMBERT FYE

  286. North of the 49th parallel:
FYE is finally available on the Canadian iTunes site!!!

  287. Wow, the thread is the one that keeps on giving. ;)

The GMA performance is on the 24th (Tuesday), the day the album was *originally* due to be released.

Yay for the ADD. Booo for no one playing the damn song! That would be sweeet if VH-1 played TfM video, b/c we all know how much I love it. 8)

iTunes continues to suck, but over 1000 reviews *raising hand* for FYE means a lot of ppl within the Idol bubble, anyway, love it. SANS banner.

  288. The GMA performance is on the 24th (Tuesday), the day the album was *originally* due to be released.

Ahh – ok, MJ has it as the 25th on this thread – hence my confusion. Thanks.

BTW – suebrody, listening to TFM right now :-)

    “Baby you know that…!”

  289. No problem. Maybe we should tell MJ…lol, me, too. Now. ;) Because Mix is playing Bon Jovi and I would rather hear TfM. :)

The official press release says it will be on the 25th. Per RCA,
    MJ isn’t wrong.

He will give a special live concert
performance on ABC-TV’s “Good Morning America” on Wednesday, Nov. 25, “Late
Show With David Letterman” that same night on CBS and will pre-tape on Nov.
    23. More TV shows to be announced soon.

Ahh – interesting. Wish it was on the 24th – the 25th is right before Thanksgiving :-( Argh. Must listen to more Adam music to help calm down.

  294. I can’t even tell it’s denim. It looks too dark to be the BVOU. Looks like a black jacket to me.

  295. rockvixen does it have a banner or anything?

No it doesn’t have a banner. It’s pretty much like the US iTunes.

  296. Hey dab1234:

I can make allowances for a bad an interesting taste in clothing when someone, like yourself, has a great sense of humor. Or should I say … a humorous sense of style.

    Can we agree on Emo?

And to stay on topic … what’s the topic again?
Oh right … good producers !!! … very slow news day …

  297. CindyM or NewFan can you give me the link to the pic again, please? I need to check this out more closely :)

  298. Hi again dab1234

there should have been smilies all the way through that message … but I was in a hurry to retaliate respond and I keep forgetting to make the winky one … and we’ve lost the ability to edit

    very, very slow news day

    sorry MJ

  299. NewFan Yes, we can agree on Emo. I need to check out the pic, though, before I can make a final decision on if it is that ‘special’ vest. :)
on topic, great writers and producers, can’t wait for the album.

  300. Aw CindyM

I wish that you hadn’t brought reason and good eyesight to the conversation … just when I was beginning to enjoy the role of shit disturber.

But do you also agree on Emo?

I think the writers and producers were counting on emo. He sings better when wearing emo… and leather … instead of that denim thing

Does AOL mean America Online? If not … I know not …

  301. CindyM and NewFan Well, it is a slow day. I zoomed in with three different photo programs but couldn’t tell if it is denim. Has a standing collar, though. I don’t think it is the same one. :)
    love those writers..

  302. NewFan I think the writers and producers were counting on emo. He sings better when wearing emo’ ¦ and leathe

    r ‘ ¦

On this we absolutely agree. Emo and leather. My fantasy :)

  303. But do you also agree on Emo?

I think the writers and producers were counting on emo. He sings better when wearing emo’ ¦ and leather ‘ ¦ instead of that denim thing

I do, I love Emo and Leather. Of course, I love Elvis and Denim. Heck, I might even love Hedgehog and nothing. EEEP.

  304. CindyM Heck, I might even love Hedgehog and nothing.

REALLY REALLY slow day, I loved this. I love hedgehogs, too. :)

  305. NewFan ssshhhhh we have to keep to topic. Ok, love the producers. Don’t want to see Adam in stretchy pants, want the leather, thankyou.

  306. Heck, I might even love Hedgehog and nothing.

    dab1234 and CindyM

I loved this one too (especially).
Very slooooooooooooo. Must go to RL now. Hold the fort y’all. Perhaps something will happen when I’m gone. That’s the way it usually goes. suebrody will find something.

Ohhh did someone say Emo Adam in leather??? OMG YES!!:-:-:-)

Yep, you can share my fantasy.. any other requests?

  308. I agree. Writers and producers are the only ones allowed to wear stretchy pants.

OK. I’ll be shhhhhh … gone now…. later.

Really like that Pink girl as a writer.

  309. Anybody know what in the hell is going on with itunes? Earlier this afternoon it has FYE at #44 on the Top 100 singles chart. And now, a few hours later, it’s gone from the chart and all the other singles have moved around big time. Itunes needs to get its shit together, pronto.

  310. I’m sad that FYE is getting more adds. :( But it WAS cool to hear it on AOL Fresh 40 radio. I wonder if Adam is doing a video for FYE (he probably has time now….finally), b/c that has been kept keeply underwraps if so. I am really happy for Kris fans, w/ the video coming out tomorrow and the album streaming live next Monday, but I would like some more Adam. I’m greedy. It would be cool if TfM really got out there for its video awesomeness (JMHO), but I don’t know if it will, unless VH-1 plays it for realzzz, as Allison would say.

  311. I meant that it HAS NOT gotten more adds.

Dammit, I really want that editing feature.

I have beyond frustrated with iTunes. It’s ridiculous. I wish I could call someone.

According to an earlier post by Q3 upthread somewhere, Itunes chart is frozen to what it was on 11/04 at 12:49 pm or something like that. It’s all screwed up.

  313. CBS has something called AOL Radio. And one of the stations is its Fresh 40, which plays Top 40 hits. It is streaming radio, and it has played both Kris and now Adam. I couldn’t help flailing a bit; first time I’ve heard it aside from that head to head contest against Ryan Star it won in Detroit (and then lost the next night to Daughtry).

  314. According to an earlier post by Q3 upthread somewhere, Itunes chart is frozen to what it was on 11/04 at 12:49 pm or something like that. It’s all screwed up.

Well, if it makes anyone feel better, it was unfrozen for at least a little bit this afternoon and Adam was at #44 on the Top 100 singles. But then, an hour later it was back to what it has been for the last few days. Weird.

  315. Let’s cool down and have an intermission.

For those who have missed the edgy/rock vocals of Allison Iraheta, please check her blog and listen to her first single in Spanish

Still not fan of the single but her vocals in Spanish is good.

  316. dab1234 ” Yep, you can share my fantasy.. any other requests?” you don’t want to get me started!

  317. suebrody- Thanks for the VHI link.

It made me go back in time to listen to the vocals of past idols. So many talents and sadly not much success in real world.

  318. It made me go back in time to listen to the vocals of past idols. So many talents and sadly not much success in real world.

    :(

I cannot believe that Adam will be in that category. He will join Kelly, Carrie, JHud, Daughtry, and Cook. And no CLAY. Just sayin’.

BTW, did you also watch Carrie’s Cowboy Casanova? I like the song but HATE the video.

We need new news so we can have a new Adam thread. I am sad that we probably will have to wait till the AMAs to get any more Adam material, unless his album streams a week early, too, like Kris’s. *hopeful*

  319. Adam’s going to be fine. It takes time for a single to start getting serious radio play, especially from a new artist. I suspect after the AMAs, FYE is going to be all over the place. We just have to have faith and be patient (not my strongest character trait, I’m afraid).

  320. Oh you guys are going to love this. My husband and I both loved Adam on the show, but I hadn’t played FYE for him because I didn’t think he’d care for it that much (as compared to others on the album). But I just played it for him and he started dancing around the kitchen with our little dogs. So cute!

  321. Holla, Ellie2, long time no …

Thanks, terraj, I flove that video, one of the longer ones that came from the “2012” premiere, I believe. He is adorbs as always.

Seeing it is a slow news day here is a little something for people with IPhones’ ¦ the Adam Lambert trivia game:

    http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=331540107&mt=8

LOL, of course I had to get that. We’ll see how challenging it is …

Aw, JosieX, that visual made my afternoon. : )

  322. Video! Yippee! Thank you. I just love him too!

He is so precious, adorable, and fun. I love his quick wit and charm.

His date is his jacket! Haha. Forget the eyeliner product line. Get him his own fashion designer and get a jacket line.

  323. YUCK!!! that’s a craptastick community that is. For a second there I thought I was in the twilight zone then I realized that wasn’t ontd_ai.

Yep, that post is prime example of why ondtd_ai was created in the first place. The Adam and sometimes Kris hate on ontd main often steps well over the snark line into pure ugliness.

It’s a bit disconcerting to realize that Adam single means that he will be paired up with every guy he’s seen with, but I guess once you’re in the public eye it’s common. Irritating, but apparently it sells because someone must be buying those tabloid rags that are so prolific.

  324. but apparently it sells because someone must be buying those tabloid rags that are so prolific.

Lol. Even the producer for the AMAs had one of the Enquirer tabloids on his desk when he was being interviewed. He moved it off of his desk while being filmed.

  325. Even the producer for the AMAs had one of the Enquirer tabloids on his desk when he was being interviewed. He moved it off of his desk while being filmed.

I totally didn’t catch that! LOL at him trying to hide his guilty pleasure.

  326. Is that latest interview at the 2012 premiere posted somewhere on you tube? I can’t watch this one on my iPhone. Boo!!

thanks for that interview link …I so love his laugh and charm…. he is so real during interviews…can’t get enough… :)

  328. Why isn’t FYE in the top 100 on iTunes? What’s going on? Are any of you buying it on iTunes. IMO, this is simply not good. And FYE is such a great catchy song. I don’t understand what the problem is.

It looks like earlier once again iTunes was reset to the rankings at yesterday around 1 PM. It’s not just Adam, it’s everyone, so I’m assuming Apple is having problems that require more than a quick fix, since they seem to have done some sort of database restore to an earlier point and then a freeze twice in two days now.

But during the period this morning when it seemed to be working normally, FYE was up to 44 overall. Which isn’t bad considering the bulk of the hardcore fanbase buying was done at either AO or Amazon since they had the track earlier. But it’s a bummer that we haven’t gotten to watch its progress.

Well that’s a bit of a relief I guess. But it would be nice to get the song up to #1. FYE just has to be a hit. It’s not that it’s such a great work of art. It just sounds like a radio hit. And the vocals are certainly good + the lyrics are kind of cool.

  331. I think RCA ought to try marketing FYE more. For instance, pay for an iTunes banner. Put the cover art up etc. And I’m sure RCA could make more of a push to get the song radio play but perhaps there taking it slow b/c they want to song to make a huge splash at the AMAs. But I don’t see how the banner would be harmful.

  332. FYE sounds so much like a Top 40 hit. Why RCA isn’t pushing it harder baffles me.

  333. FYE is doing well. iTunes is screwed up atm. It’s getting radio play.

  334. I checked a little while ago and couldn’t even find FYE on the chart TFM was at 49 and had a long bar – FYE only had a tiny little bar that you had to squint to see – I hope you guys are right that Itunes is messed up – yesterday I had seen that a bunch of Adam fans were gifting like crazy so none of this makes any sense to me

It looks like FYE is listed under Albums again.. it’s #29 in pop listings.

  336. I was talking to a friend tonight and she said “did you know that Adam has a song out?” Well of course I did and I asked her if she had heard it on the radio. She said she had just been browsing i-tunes and saw it at around #40 and listened to it and liked and bought it. I just thought that was funny she didn’t really know about it and just happened across it. And with i-tunes so messed up. I’m glad she and her daughter liked it. I told her details about the album and she’s going to get it. And told her about TFM and the AMAs.

  337. So strange.. in iTunes FYE is the 5th song listed under Adam’s songs with no dark bars, but earlier today when I looked it was the 2nd song with at least 3 or 4 dark bars.

  338. Reminder:

No street teaming on the site please.

Attempts to organize or cajole your fellow fans to harra…. I mean call radio stations to play FYE is better left to your fansites.

  339. iTunes is messed up. It won’t let me gift FYE to friends. It keeps saying that my credit card is denied (the balance is high, but not THAT high, come on). I can purchase it multiple times for myself with the same credit card, but I can’t gift it to anyone. Arrrggg.

  340. I can purchase it multiple times for myself with the same credit card, but I can’t gift it to anyone. Arrrggg

Same thing happened to me OutlandoGirl. I tried gifting it several times and got “denied” for some (?) reason! iTunes needs a “tune-up” I think……damn.

  341. Just checking on what’s going on , checked iTunes. Waahh where is FYE.
It’s not ranking. Earlier I saw it at Pop Songs listed at no.22 with TFM at No.48. What happened ?
Or is the iTunes system messed up because Album and single has same title ?
Earlier it got listed as Album in the Top Sellers and then all of sudden it showed in the Top Pop Song. And now FYE is MIA.
Could it be that each and every fan had finished buying from Amazon and AO and so no one left to buy at iTunes ?

Adam has to work harder to earn more customers and more sales . He already looked sleepy and exhausted in those pictures with his best friend that lovely girl.

Sorry Adam , no sleep for you until your single hits number 1.

FYE is listed under Albums #29.

  343. There seems to be a major glitch with Itunes, it’s not only US but Internationally, so I don’t think any one knows for sure what the rankings are.

This actually happened to me over a week ago when I tried to give my son a gift certificate. I went to the support page and sent an email describing the problem. They emailed back, checked it and fixed the problem So they may have been going off the tracks even before Adam’s single went up for sale.

Seems iTunes has “exploded”– wonder what’s going on?

  345. I put some anecdotal information in the Headlines thread about people outside of the Idol bubble also noticing the problems with the iTunes rankings. No one really knows anything, but it’s for sure screwed up and it’s not just us that have noticed.

  346. Unless you are a diehard AI follower, you probably haven’t heard FYE yet. I would expect it to take off after the AMA’s and other TV spots, especially if he kills it at the AMA’s.

  347. relax people….1) itunes has been screwed up for the past day or two — it is affecting all of the chart rankings….just ignore til it is fixed; 2) i have no doubt that there will be a banner for fye, and more of a push regarding the song, but not until closer to the album release and the ama/gma/letterman etc. performances (in fact I would guarantee it)…all is good

  348. Looks like iTunes is back to normal again. FYE is #48 in music and #24 in Pop.
