Time to ban the general public from voting? I think so.

    Maloney….I’m speechless….

  • http://twitter.com/facenfield David Facenfield

both James & Ella being in the bottom 2 was obviously a wake up call for James fans… or maybe he just got all Ella’s fans and everyone voting who wasn’t a Maloney/Jahmeme or boyband fan?

  • kcostell

Looks like Christopher was only leading in the voting every week because the rest of the vote was so evenly divided.  If you never once crack 30% of the vote and don’t pick up any new voters as the weeks go on, you’re never going to win.

  • kcostell

The week James catapulted from 5th to a commanding lead was also when he first seduced the UK with his performance of “Let’s Get It On”.

Make of that what you will.

  • http://twitter.com/facenfield David Facenfield

from memory that was about the time the anti Maloney PR machine went into overload… that obviously had some impact also…

The funny thing is that not only Maloney is a mediocre singer but he didn`t even have the best sob story from this group. If it were the main reason Jahmene would be winning by far. I think there was really a nan-factor going on. LMAO

“Time to ban the general public from voting? I think so.”

No. People like to get involved, and that helps with ratings. The thing is, public voting, whether it’s for a TV show or for an election, will always have its faults. People tend to vote for numerous of bias reasons, and not always who has the most talent, or what the general consensus is about a candidate. It’s all about preferences. I’m not saying the voting is always fair, but neither is life itself. Plus, on UK forums, I would read about anger towards producers meddling, than the audiences voting poorly.

I think with Maloney & Jehmene dominating the leader board, it suggests that it is the younger people that are no longer watching X Factor (there has been much made of a ratings slide here in the UK)… so those left watching / and therefore voting are older (i.e. the nans)

And a lot of people vote a certain way to piss off TPTB.  Out of sheer spite.  Or because they pity a contestant and their sob story. There are a lot of reasons why people vote.  Unfortunately you can’t only keep the honest votes where people are voting based on pure talent and musical taste alone.

  • phil2501

I don’t understand why the TPTB were so concerned with Christopher. I don’t think he was any worse/less marketable than a lot of other winners of these singing shows.

  • http://twitter.com/DenverInsomniac ???I???

I think she was just sarcastically jabbing at how.. I’ll be nice and call it “strange” the voting public can be. You can’t help but wonder about the thought process with them sometimes, quite the oddity.

“@ChrisMaloney77@CarolynnePoole you’ll do anything to get a headline! disgraceful! week one! bitter”

Maloney is showing his true colours.

  • SullyD

LOL at Rylan being in the top 3 on the week 2.

  • elliegrll

All voters have their biases, and they all like different things.  Chris style appeals to some people, but not others, and that’s the case with every single singer alive.  Nobody is going to appeal to everyone, and there’s nothing wrong with that.  Part of the fun of these types of shows is the idea that anyone can win, and that there will be so called shock eliminations.

Talent and what’s “good” has always been subjective.

That was the week of the fashionista pandas. It was REALLY entertaining. He deserved Top 3. LOL

Looks like all of Ella’s votes went to James. I definitely supported him after Ella was booted.

  • Oldhag

This is the first season, since they started making the stats public, that the lowest vote getter was the one to go home every single week.

  • shell29

No wonder Simon & Co were scared shitless at the prospect of Chris winning.  Oh well, the 1-2 punch of James pimping/Chris trashing in the press produced the desired result for Mr. Cowell.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_NDYOWBIIPZU6PBRHGOPT2ZZJXQ sweetmm

Nope they showed it at the end of the show in previous years too.

  • Whatiswrongwithus

WOW! James won by quite a far margin over Jahmene! Who would have thunk it ?? I thought the race between them was pretty close, considering Jahmene’s sad backstory and his sweetie pie demeanour. Oh well, I am so happy for James!!! Hope he will produce an album that sounds like The Power of Love. So loved that song!

  • http://twitter.com/alencarthiago Thiago Alencar

I think he said that it was the first time there wasn’t a week where the judges saved the one who got the least votes, not that it was the first time we got to see the voting rates.

  • springboard2

I think that during the first episodes the casual audience doesn’t get involved in the voting, and this is why those with strong support from a specific group of people, regional, teen, entertainer usually survive until mid season even if thye are not very good singers.
The casual voting probably starts to increase progressively in the lead to the final.

It is possible that this year it happened  later than usual because it was not a popular season and the audience wasn’t engaged, hence Chris leading for longer than the producers felt comfortable with.

The fact that both Ella and James landed in the bottom two in week 7 must have woken up the public, and particularly James supporters. James isn’t cute enough to have a strong dedicated female fanbase that would have bulked his vote tally in the first rounds.

Anyway, well done to James and also Jahmene. I hope they will be treated well by Syco, but it remains to be seen despite Simon’s claim that he will launch a career for both of them. Jahmene will release an album of gospel arranged covers. As for James, since he is a songwriter, and a songwriter type singer, his success will largely depend on his songwriting skills, plus what Syco will make of them.

Oh ok missed that; sorry my bad :)

  • http://twitter.com/BazzleFjsm Bazzle

Real Winner: Lucy Spraggan. lol! jokes. O I missed that one.

  • http://www.facebook.com/bill.mitchell.3954546 Bill Mitchell

Amazing Union J did so poorly.  They were so good.  Myth of the tween girl vote?

  • http://www.facebook.com/bill.mitchell.3954546 Bill Mitchell

James was the best pure talent on the show other than Jayme of Union J.

  • http://twitter.com/eric_ascher Eric Ascher

I now believe that James being in the bottom two is why he won X Factor. People thought he was safe, and then when he wasn’t they started to vote. Also, funny how the person with the lowest number of votes went every week, even when the judges decided.

  • WD79

I heard that James’ iTunes sales for the past 24 hours is estimated close to 65k, even higher than US’ highest (Bruno Mars) which was estimated at 30k.

  • http://twitter.com/bluinjewin Landon Cox

Man, Union J was really close to knocking off Maloney last week. Also the bottom 3 bounce is in full effect pretty much every week.

  • Oldhag

Voting on UK X Factor takes money and permission to use the phone.  Every one was shocked that One Direction never got above third either, even with Simon and all the other judges pimping the daylights out of them.

  • Klaine

O think it’d great that they release all of this AFTER the season. Much nether than the stupid rankings. Idol should copy this & also have the judges and Ryan predict who will win.

I only watched the finale but it seems Maloney who everyone criticized did l pretty well at first. Jahmain was near the top… And James peaked mid season or of no where… Did he have some incredible performance that turned him around??

On the finale, have results ever changed after the freeze. I assume not. Since voting is on all night and day, people r vote for their fave; performances don’t matter.

The UK show send so much more well done in allways than the us version. Host +judges (+their banter from fun to spats) are better. DDermot’s a true pro… and olly is great to o.. love for him to have a role here

  • Reflects On Life

Seems that James & Ella were vote-splitting the “credible artist” vote. When one left, the other picked up all their votes.

When Union J left, looks like their votes got split evenly btwn James & Jahmene.

Did any of the weeks go to deadlock this year?  Or did the judges choose who was out each week (except for semis & finals)?
