One Direction & JLS to rescue X Factor’s charity single, X Factor judges to swap categories? Chart Updates!

One Direction & JLS rescue X Factor Xmas
SIMON Cowell has drafted in JLS and One Direction to star on the next X Factor charity single — over fears this year’s “average” crop of talent would be a chart flop.

For the first time, the mogul decided to add extra artists to the contestants singing the song — a version of Rose Royce classic Wishing On A Star.

The 16 acts who made the live shows recorded their parts last month. But the decision was later made to add the chart-topping former X Factor stars to boost sales.

An insider said: “Simon and the other SyCo execs want huge sales this year and weren’t sure the contestants would get that on their own.

“Now they’ll be using One Direction and JLS’s combined fanbase to sell the song. It’s a no-brainer and is bound to be a huge seller now.”

‘I’ll quit if I have to give up my acts’: Kelly Rowland on X Factor shake-up which sees contestants swapping mentors
Kelly Rowland has vowed to quit the X Factor if she has to give up her beloved girls in a dramatic shake-up of the show.

Simon Cowell is reportedly planning to make the judges swap acts, meaning the former Destiny’s Child singer will have to stop mentoring Misha B and Irish teenager Janet Devlin.

Programme bosses are hoping to inject the latest twist to boost ratings.

‘You were the performance of the season’: Marcus Collins wins over the X Factor judges while bookies’ favourite Janet Devlin falls flat
With the revelation that not one but two acts would be going home this week, the X Factor contestants were determined to put on the performances of their lives tonight.

The night was immediately declared a ‘ballad-free zone’ by host Dermot O’Leary after announcing the dancefloor classic theme.

And picking the perfect song for the toe-taping episode was former hairdresser Marcus Collins.

The 23-year-old’s rendition of Jackie Wilson’s 1950s classic Reet Petite (The Sweetest Girl in Town) was declared the stand-out performance of the season.

It shot him up as the bookies favourite to win with a 3-1 chance, booting Irish teenager Janet Devlin off her perch where she has sat the entire competition.

X Factor 2011: Tulisa and Kelly insist ‘we’re good’… but it’s Louis and Gary who are at war this week
In the past couple of weeks, all the attention has been on Tulisa Contostavlos and Kelly Rowland’s feud following the ‘bullying’ row surrounding Misha B.

But this week, it was Louis Walsh and Gary Barlow at war as they clashed over Frankie Cocozza.

The two judges ended up telling each other to ‘shut up’ as they rowed across the panel after the Irish pop manager told Cocozza his performance was ‘really bad karaoke’.

X Factor shocker as The Risk and Johnny Robinson are voted off in double elimination… and Frankie Cocozza survives
X Factor back on top in ratings war after Saturday’s live show beats Strictly Come Dancing
It was a big shock in The X Factor with show favourites The Risk and Johnny Robinson being voted off in a double elimination.

Flamboyant Robinson was voted off after going head-to-head in a sing-off with fellow Over-25s act Kitty Brucknell.

And surprisingly, Brighton wildboy Frankie Cocozza managed to stay another week, despite his panned performance on Saturday night.

Two eliminations means double trouble: X Factor contestants arrive at the ITV studios ready for tonight’s impending doom
It’s going to be a night of high drama on the X Factor as not one, but two acts will be eliminated from the competition.

But, despite the impending doom, most of the show’s contestants appeared relaxed as they made their way into the ITV studios today.

Apart from Frankie Cocozza that is, who appeared rather sullen at the Fountain Studios in Wembley.

Tulisa ‘pushed to her limits’: Fears over X Factor judge’s health as bitter war with Kelly Rowland begins to take its toll
Tulisa Contostavlos is said to be ‘cracking up’ as the pressure of her bitter war with fellow X Factor judge Kelly Rowland begins to take its toll.

Yesterday she failed to show up for TV and radio interviews, sparking fears she may be a no-show on the panel for this weekend’s live performances.

The X Factor has gone into meltdown since the judges fell out two weeks ago and, last week, Kelly failed to appear after remaining in Los Angeles with what was claimed to have been a throat infection.

Here we go again! X Factor finalists arrive for rehearsals ahead of live show, as Kelly wears bizarre head wrap
All the backstage squabbling has clearly left Kelly Rowland no time to wash her hair.

The Destiny’s Child singer arrived at Fountain Studios for X Factor rehearsals hiding her tresses beneath some rather odd headgear.

She also opted for a pair of oversized earrings that dwarfed her face, but still managed a wave from behind her sunglasses.

Chasing fame! Frankie Cocozza previously applied for X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent… plus never-before-seen baby photos
He has made a dubious name for himself as the X Factor’s resident lothario and hellraiser.

But, as these pictures uncovered by the Mail show, 18-year-old Frankie Cocozza wasn’t always the bad boy he’d like audiences to think he is.

They reveal the wild-haired wannabe, who made his debut on the ITV talent show by dropping his trousers on stage to reveal the tattooed names of girls he met over the summer, was once an innocent-looking schoolboy with a sweet smile.

Already a star! The Risk’s Ashley John-Baptise was taken into care aged four and later went on to win a Cambridge degree
Millions watched as he was reduced to tears over his decision to quit the X Factor.

But while mentor Tulisa Contostavlos dismissively said Ashley John-Baptiste ‘couldn’t hack the pressure’, it appears nothing could be further from the truth.

For what she didn’t tell those watching at home is that the 22-year-old overcame tremendous adversity to win a place to study history at Cambridge – and then graduate this summer with a 2.1.

And for dessert… Leona Lewis and boyfriend Dennis pucker up after romantic lunch
They’ve been dating over a year, but it seems Leona Lewis is still in the honeymoon period with boyfriend Dennis Jauch.

After a romantic lunch in Studio City, LA, yesterday, the couple couldn’t keep their hands or lips of each other.

Following their meal, it looked like German dancer Jauch, 23, was the singer’s dessert as they kissed in the car park of the Good Neighbour Restaurant.
