‘Idol’ surpasses ‘Voice,’ reclaims top spot for season

Until last night, it was NBC with The Voice. Now Idol has reclaimed the No. 1 spot for the season (even if you include the special post-Super Bowl airing of The Voice). Idol has averaged 6.2 on Wednesdays in the adult demo and The Voice
is at 6.1 We still have the rest of the month to go, and things could
still change, but Fox will be relieved to face Madison Avenue and claim,
as they have for many years in a row, TV’s top non-sports series.

Holy cow I can’t believe they pulled that off. LOL

We have two more weeks to go in the television season, but there’s no way that the Voice is going to take the crown back.  I think at the most they will post a 4.1 rating next Monday.

Holy cow I can’t believe they pulled that off. LOL

Great for AI, but the producers of The Voice should be embarrassed.

There have been reports that it doesn’t look like The Voice will air twice next season. But, there’s still a chance that the season will start in September.

Yes, the voice producers should be very embarrassed. They have twice squandered great promo. Last season it was the most promoted summer show I have ever seen, and viewership still fell over the course of the season. This year, they get the spot after the super bowl, which is the premiere spot in television, and now the show is bringing in less ratings than the 1st season.

Go idol! It’s awesome to see after The Voice was so cocky at the start of the year(NBC calling it the new number 1 singing show, people everywhere saying it would overtake idol, etc).

Here are last night’s final adjusted ratings.

American Idol,  Modern Family, Law & Order: SVU,  Survivor: One World, and America’s Next Top Model were all adjusted up  a tenth among adults 18-49 versus Wednesday’s preliminary ratings.  Don’t Trust The B in Apt. 23 was adjusted down a tenth.

    8:00PM FOX American Idol (8-10 PM) 4.7 14 16.660

Dont know why. Idol is in the toilet.

  • Beth Fischer

Very happy people realize the qualtiy Idol has over the (almost unwatchable) show, The Voice…

  • Tinawina

Yup, the Number 1 toilet on TV! That’s quite the latrine.

Did the Voice get a bad rap with the The Wanted/Christina snafu? hmmmm

Its great news for the AI franchise that in US it still remains strong whereas some other countries had drop the franchise.  AI must now ensure it keeps producing top selling winners and to be safe this season Skylar will be the best bet.  Country singers tend to sell good in US and AI could not afford to risk betting on other genres to ensure instant platinum.

  • sweetmm

The unWanted had recently since then talk smack about Brit too; and they were opening for her.  So that pretty much reflect the group ethics.

Well, it sure helps Idol that DWTS competes at the same time as the Voice. I think NBC is very happy with the Voice. If Idol produces a weak winner, and if Juiliet Simms wins the Voice, things will certainly change next season.

All seasons see a drop during the middle live shows episodes, and S11 has been actually holding reasonably well compared to previous seasons. Top 4 is the time when ratings start to climb back up after the dip so they should improve next week. The improvement rate may be a good indication of how well the season is received as a whole. S9 didn’t see as big a rise as S10 for example.

It goes to show that the real draw of The Voice are the spinning chairs.
