UK Channel Drops American Idol

More erosion of the American Idol audience. The show has been cancelled in the UK, right in the middle of the series:

American Idol is losing its home on a UK channel after 5* dropped the latest series from schedules. The channel had broadcast the beginning of the current season up to the final 12 contestants being revealed, but the programme has since disappeared from TV schedules, according to Digital Spy. A spokesman for 5* confirmed that they didn’t plan to show any more American Idol in the near future, but did suggest it might be a temporary hiatus for the singing competition as they added: ” The show will be back in the summer.” –

The channel aired last year’s entire series after nabbing the show from ITV2 in September 2012.
