DC cracks me UP. I love how he just leaves Archie there at the end and there’s this awkward silence. That is sheer win.

And I hate to say it, but DA really is cute funny when he’s just kind of, well, there, and not singing to me about his boo. This final 2 is quite entertaining off the main show’s cameras.

Well, wow, as a guy I’d love a friend like DC. I can kinda get why you ladies like him too. I can’t believe he is still selling the pirate joke…. Archie is a different guy without Daddio around. I mean he is still awkward, but he has more of his own voice. It is still hard to believe he is 17. He seems much more like 14….

Sorry DA, I like you, but don’t really like your style of singing, so DC has my support.

I’m pretty sure that DC looks at joke telling as a joke within a joke within a joke – kind of like the Chinese boxes. So the funny thing about the pirate joke is how bad it is and how it makes people harumph. And sometimes, the retelling, ad nauseum, is all part of the larger joke. Just my theory.

Completely agree with everyone…Archie has a more relaxed and endearing quality when he’s off stage, and I love these two in the clips. Very down to earth and charming. There are other people I wanted to see standing next to DC in this finale, but now it’s come down to it, they’re kind of an adorable pair and I’m looking forward to the night.

Producers – shows clips like these on AI! So many casual viewers would enjoy them, and it humanizes the kids far more than the scripted ‘interviews’ with Ryan or the edited down pre-song intros. *sigh*

I’d say Idol got very lucky with these two Davids. Though I prefer one vastly in terms of music (go Cookie, go!), they seem like very genuine, humble kids who really do root for each other and have fun. I don’t think you can fake that….and I hope they hang on to that humility and comaraderie when they get out of the bubble and into the big show biz maelstrom….

Hey, I came across this at the main American Idol forums for Archie. Apparently, he has an alternative duet album out in Itunes. The 2 songs are not bad, I like the Angels in the Alleyway in particular. He should make his future album like this and definitely not R&B (With You) disaster he did.

I love both videos. Those two are quite funny together. And FINALLY to see David A with personality. I have never denied his talent but it was nice to see the kid show some personality and I agree with the poster above who said that is what AI should be showing us during the season.

Loved the videos. I thought David C said bute, like in beauty, when he commented on Syesha. I listened again-it did sound like mute. Bute makes more sense when you look at the picture they show of Syesha.

Archie and David are really cute together. I think this will be a great finale. Go David.

First time I heard about the dinner “roast” for the contestant leaving. That would be a hoot to hear or watch. Anyone know anything about it.

I don’t think its in one of the clips above, but when each was asked their feelings about being in the top two they were both very humble and honored to be there with the other. DC said that when he looked out at the audience and saw the Top 12 there were so many of those faces that he thought would be where he was and that he didn’t think anyone would invest in a bartender from KC. I think clips like that (and these above) would be nice to see on the show and it would give people better opinions of both Davids. Those that think DC has a big ego can see the humble side to him and those that think DA has no personality can see him interacting with the others. Win, win, for both sides I think.

The first I ever heard about the “roasts” was earlier this season. As soon as the Tuesday night show is over, they all get together for a meal to say goodbye to the one who is leaving, and they do a little “roast” of that person.

I think maybe it was Amanda who spilled the beans about it.

I was sad when I heard Carly say in an interview that she didn’t get to have her roast. How disappointing that must have been. I guess there was a time constraint involved, but really, they should have had one for her.

Another thing is that they’re supposed to pack on Tuesday because they won’t have time after the show. The “loser” has to get up at 3 AM to do live satellite interviews, and then they’re off to NYC to do the circuit there for about a week.

One thing I learned from Jason’s experience is that AI sends them to NY with a “handler”. All these behind the scenes goings-on are interesting to me.

I agree that televising the roasts would be fun, but I wonder if the contestants would feel as free to say whatever they wanted to if they knew millions of people would see it.

Wow, they all had to pack each Tuesday night in case they’d be the one going Wednesday? I’d probably never bother to unpack then!

Okay they just upped the adorable factor to the nth degree. I gotta say they are just CUTE. It would be fun to see this stuff instead of the silly package crap “tell me your most embarrasing moment”. This piece tells me more about these guys than the set ups. That is probably why we won’t see more stuff like this on the show. Can’t be manipulated as much. Sigh.

I am gonna miss the little engine that could. It was really inspirational to watch her work her way through. I am proud of her, really proud.

Win or lose, these guys will be fine. And if they think thier life is a little crazy now, just wait until after the finale, the real work truly begins. It will be a joy to watch. I do love this show. Shenanighans and all, if this is the result of it, it ain’t half bad. David v. David is going to be a classic.

A quick note to any fellow Canadian posters or lurkers who may not know already – AI Extra does air in Canada on the Star network. I mention this because I just talked to a friend who was amazed to learn she could have been watching it and didn’t realize it was airing here too!

I completely agree – this is the kind of stuff that should be shown during the show. It give us so much more insight into their personalities.

I hope AI truly does some serious re-vamping next year. I would much rather have a shorter results show and more time for them to sing. Would be awesome if they could sing an entire song instead of a minute-thirty, once it gets to a certain point – top six, perhaps? Or even top 3.

I dvr’d Idol Extra, can’t wait to get home from work and watch the top 12 reunion. Nice group of performers this year, lots of fun, the tour should be great with some cheesy numbers and mj’s favorite pointy poses!!!
