since this is a free concert, how are they doing it? is it first-come, first serve? did they just hand out/give away tickets? or what?

  • sr4mjc

who is cute tall dude on the right? That’s all I want to know, lol

  • Weebs787

    is it first-come, first serve

I think first come first serve. Hard Rock’s Twitter said there was a line from about 2pm, so that’s what I’m assuming.

  • JJ123

I’ve been to these events before and it’s defintiely first come first serve. Is that picture from today? Because it has B96 in the background and The Mix is sponsoring this event so that’s weird.

The line only started at 2:00?? That’s kinda sad, most hard core fans are out early morning….I was in line at 8:00am when Daughtry did this event back in January ’07 and it was like 2 degrees, there were about 60 people in line by noon so they had to let us in to wait in the lobby it was a totaly clusterfuck but so worth it. I hope Lee gets a great crowd!

  • Yvonne13

Kind of stinks that the concert had to be the day after the Thanksgiving break. I’ll bet some people already had at least 2 days off last week, and didn’t feel they could take more time off today to attend.

Just like this summer-as soon as Lee started singing, people quit tweeting. I heard a little of Brooklyn Bridge before the ustream quit; it was beautiful and I don’t think Lee has performed it live before.Looks like a good crowd from the pictures.

  • Weebs787

Someone said there was close to 300 people there about 1.5 hours before the show, that’s just a rough estimate. Place holds a little less than 500.

I heard a little bit of the ustream, and his voice sounded great.

  • kvwicks13

Per tweeters, Lee is still playing. Played songs from Live It Up, Slumberland, Simple Man, Walk Away, etc. Too bad Upstream went down so early! Hopefully we will get some good video!

Concert now over, Lee sang 11 songs!

  • glamertitis

I liked the wee bit of ustream I heard too. Isn’t it great that Lee gets these gigs that are 100% him and he is not latched on to others that he has to open for? Says he can bring in the crowd which is great to hear. (I know he had an opener tonight) Really looking forward to the gig with Kris coming up too. They might be small gigs, but at least we know the people are there to see him. I am so happy for him to be getting these independent opportunities.

Hopefully, these concerts for radio stations will earn him some more radio love.He has a dozen appearances scheduled between now and the Miami Dolphins Tailgate event Dec. 26, and more may be announced. Lee had to leave after tonight’s show for St Louis, where he is performing tomorrow at the Studio 98 event for Y98.
Thanks for thevideo, MJ-Lee sounded gorgeous singing ESS.

kvwicks13. Concert now over, Lee sang 11 songs!

Boy oh boy. 11 videos to look forward to and enjoy :)

ETA: Thanks MJ for putting up this thread!

  • tigervixxxen

I am so hopeful more video shows up, this looked like an incredible show and setlist. From what I gather from the tweets and ustream snippets Lee did Live It Up, Dear Isabelle, Beautiful Like You, Earth Stood Still, A Song About Love, Brooklyn Bridge, Walk Away, Only Dreaming, Simple Man, and Annabelle. That’s 10 and someone tweeted he did 11 songs and I’d assume the missing one was Sweet Serendipity.

  • ItsMyT1me

jj123, B96 tweeted that Lee had been in their studio earlier today.

Oh, and I don’t think what time people line up means anything. I think that is the mentality of individual fanbases. The Script, for example, are multi-platinum international musicians and only a handful of the 2000 attendees started lining up for their sold out GA show at 3pm with doors opening at 6pm.

  • Brook52

What a setlist! Wish I had been there and hope there are more videos. All are favorite songs and hope it was also SS that he played- love hearing his acoustic version- and all the different versions of all of these songs.

  • wjmtv

    He did Annabelle?

    *whimper*

  • plays strings

Still strays off key and now looks like he needs to frequent the gym a little more. I do like his live performances better than his CD though.

  • wjmtv

He can come to my gym any time.

That’s kinda sad, most hard core fans are out early morning

Oh, fond memories of waiting during a March Wisconsin winter at 8am until the doors opened at 6pm for Danny’s free album release party. I didn’t thaw for 24 hours I think.

I still am amazed they didn’t make people buy Lee’s CD to get in. The guys just walked along the line in Milwaukee, counted the first 1000 and gave you a wristband after you bought the CD. And you couldn’t bring your own if you already bought it.
It was easy enough; seems like that would have been a good way to get some sales for Lee. But maybe since it was radio station sponsored they couldn’t do it?

Hope Lee fans get some good videos out of it! :)

  • artemis

Indigobunting-I never heard about what they did for Danny’s release party before-but that is an excellent idea. One thousand extra sales just for one appearance.
Imagine if those 20,000 people had to buy an album instead of a ticket to get into Lee’s Arlington Park concert!(the album wasn’t out in September, but still… :) a girl can dream).
In these days of declining album sales for all but a few artists, maybe they could discount concert tickets for those who buy the artist’s album at the venue.

  • Weebs787

*wonders what those who think Lee is fat feel about Mike and Andrew*

  • tripp_ncwy

According to this tweet, Lee’s album has been released in Japan. Has there been an announcement of an international release schedule?

    Maho0523
I got @LeeDeWyze ‘s album in Japan :) how amazing he is…hope he come to Japan someday!!

ETA: Got an answer in the other thread Lee’s album is a US import in Japan.

  • Indigobunting

I know, right? I just can’t believe, that in Lee’s hometown, they wouldn’t do something like that. Danny’s was at Turner Hall (Kris played there too) a small venue-capacity 1000, and they turned people away, but you would think they could even pick a larger venue in Chicago. Although a small venue is very nice for fans and better to sell out than not fill up I guess.

  • MonochromaticFriend

I don’t think this is a release party, and I believe admission was free to this event. The Mix has had the After 5 Live things for years now, I remember hearing about them all the time growing up. Not sure if they’re all at the same venue or not.

ESS sounds awesome. One of my favorite songs on the CD.

  • Dlynne

Some really great videos are popping up. Here’s one of Brooklyn Bridge. There are also three more uploaded by the same person.

Brian Friedopfer also tweeted a photo of the crowd. It looks crowded to me.

    http://yfrog.com/bh17d01j

From what I’ve seen so far, Lee looked like he was having a great time and the crowd was singing along to a lot of the songs. Sounds like a great time. And I think he looked pretty damn fine tonight.

  • jennyl

Just watched all the vids. Love them all. He did amazing. I love all of the songs. My favs are Simple Man, Brooklyn Bridge, ESS, Annable, and LIU.

When he was singing Simple man he kept looking up to the balcony. I think his family and friends were there.

Lincoln was great and seemed to be enjoying himself. Its great that Lee have him by his side. Yup, he looked pretty damm fine. :)

  • twinkle80

sadly, internet is crappy tonight. haven’t seen all the vids, just ESS, BB, SS, LIU and Simple Man. wow, lee was in his element! just full of passion. and the crowd was very into it too, singing along to most of the songs. looked like everyone enjoyed the show, including lee himself and lincoln. i enjoyed the crowd interaction. also, lol at lee saying “despite what you might hear, this song is not that hard to sing” regarding SS. laughed out loud, it really isn’t! lookin’ forward to videos of the other songs as well as his next performances :)

According to this tweet, Lee’s album has been released in Japan. Has there been an announcement of an international release schedule?

tripp_ncwy, is there always an announcement for international release? lee’s album was released here in the Philippines a couple of weeks ago. was so happy that i didn’t have to wait that long, unlike kris’ cd last year.

  • chessguy99

Its always a smaller downtown venue; Hard Rock, Metro, Park West. The idea is to catch the twenty-somethings that work downtown and are more apt to stay an hour after work and attend the event.

  • jennyl

Lee’s album was available in Malaysia on 17 November.

I am not an expert but I think last year for Kris, Allison & Adam there was some type of announcement for some of the international releases.

  • aprilfoolish

Whew, took me forever to catch up on my Twitter timeline, lots of enthusiastic tweets about the performance, great pictures!! Only got to view a few videos, loved what I saw so far. Lee seemed happy, lots of fan love going on, loved Lincoln head bobbing to SS! Alas work now, will catch up later! Slow and steady! Growth is good….IMO Lee is no flash in the pan…he’s a slow simmer!!!

  • cristististi

*Falls over* He sounded amazing! I’ll admit, BB was the one song on the album that I usually found myself skipping. I never thought it was a bad song, but I love MAMJ and Weightless a lot so BB kind of got in the way haha. But, as I expected, Lee totally sold this song to me live. And I know this was a real treat for many fans who were dying to hear him perform it. Now it’s only a matter of time until he performs MAMJ :D

On a droolyfangirl-note (Sue me) Lee looked damn good last night! The hair, the stripey sweater, no hideous jacket hiding his arms, the scarf… Not everyone can look so nice after Thanksgiving ;)

  • rivermaya

Finally got to listen to Lee’s live version of BB, a personal fave from the album, and he did Great!
Love the mash up version of DI/SH. And he totally kicked-ass with Annabelle.

Lee looks really happy and as a fan, I couldn’t be happier that he is finally living his dream.

    * saving the rest of the vids for later and thanks again to MJ for posting these.

  • jacquesthedog

I was at the show last night. Got there at 3:00 PK, THERE WAS ABOUT 250-300 peeps there which is good for the start of a work week after a holiday. Lee looked and sounded amazing. I was with my hubby, and he thought that Lee’s best performance was Brooklyn Bridge (I hope TPTB release that as his next single with a video). 2nd best song was Dear Issabelle, which would also make a good si ngle. Spoke to the dj from 101.9 and he said they will be playing ss on New Music at nine, but as usual its the PD’s that make the decision as to what to play and how many times to play it. Just glad he is getting radio time. Mike and Brian were there on the balcony. Lastly, Lee looked happy and very cute…

  • kvwicks13

Thanks for the update! Always glad to hear from fans that were at the show. We lost the upstream but glad we got some video. Lee does look adorable in the sweater and scarf. Glad he looked happy, that is what’s most important

  • AIaddict

I am not liking the sweater but he sounds great and dang that hair and those blue eyes!
