John Stevens Update: The Wonder of It All

Do you remember John Stevens? He was the red-haired teen-aged crooner from Season 3, eliminated in 6th place.

After leaving Idol and releasing his debut album, Red, on Maverick Records, John disappeared into academic life at the Berklee College of Music in Boston.

These days, John performs with a local Boston swing band, the Beantown Swing Orchestra.

The band recently recorded a version of the Foxwoods Casino jingle for a contest the Connecticut casino is running.   John shares lead vocals with vocalist/trumpeter Leenie Doran.

Contest winners get $25, 000 in prizes and will be featured in future Foxwoods commercials. Fan votes determine the 10 finalists who will compete on February 27 for the top prize. You can vote for John and the Beantown Swing Orchestra HERE.

Plus, John has just released a holiday album, filled with classic tunes called Home for Christmas.   It’s available on iTunes now:

The Beantown Swing Orchestra has several gigs in the Boston area (check out their schedule here).   I should drop by one of those gigs.   After 4 years at Berklee, I’ll bet John has matured quite a bit as a musician.
