Both Cassadee and Danielle appear on the Universal Music Publishing Group Nashville roster. Looks like they were added via The Voice. Danielle is listed under “Country” and Cassadee is listed under “Pop/Country.”

Oddly enough, though Angie Miller’s signing with Universal Music Publshing Group has been confirmed (link), she isn’t listed yet on the UMPG page.

There’s an Associated Press article out today (link) listing 5 of Randy Travis’s greatest songs in the wake of his battle with viral cardiomyopathy, which has been playing out over the past week and sounds quite serious. Here’s the blurb on 1 of the 5 listed, ‘I Told You So':

“I Told You So” — This Travis-penned breakup song was released four times over the years — twice by Travis, once by Carrie Underwood and with Underwood as a duet. That duet helped return Travis to the spotlight in the latter years of the last decade. He performed the song with Underwood on “American Idol” and at The Academy of Country Music Awards. It also returned him to the stage at the Grammy Awards in 2010 when it won best country collaboration with vocals. The lyric “Now I found somebody new and you will never break my heart in two again … “ sums up the mood.

They unfortunately didn’t perform the song together at the ACM Awards (factcheck much?), but they did perform ‘I Told You So’ together on Idol:

sometimes it takes awhile to update those rosters. If I remember correctly, it took awhile for Kris to show up on that site after he got his publishing deal. Maybe the L.A, roster and the Nashville roster are updated by different interns :)

  • dd999

This is just too sad, that a great country singer like Randy Travis is battling for his life. I have his album and love it! We need more songs from Randy, so get well soon, Randy! I think his song ‘I told you so’ has got to be one of the all time greats in country music. I like Carrie’s version, she sings it well and the duet is nice, though the song is definitely dominated by her voice. Personally, I prefer Randy’s original solo version of the song.

Paul Grien wrote a Grammy prediction column for HDD and says P2 has a legit shot for a best new artist Grammy nod. One thing working against him according to Grien is anti Idol feeling. Sorry I can’t post a link.

Lovely pic of Kris and Katy!

The board has been written. Recording starts NOW!!— James Durbin (@DurbinRock) July 15, 2013

There are usually a ton of strong contenders for the BNA Grammy nomination, which I think may be a bigger roadblock than any anti-idol thing. After all, several ex-Idols have won Grammys :)

I think Interscope will push P2 hard for Grammy noms, but there are still a couple of months before the eligibility period closes, so who knows what will happen before then

  • justmefornow

Some familiar songs on that board! I wonder which one is the “trippy” one? Freak Flag maybe?

I hope Get Over Yourself makes the final cut as well. That one’s a hoot!

  • TheOther

Here’s the link. Best New Artist will be for The World From The Side Of The Moon.

JUST IN: Adam Lambert will be on Virgin Radio tomorrow afternoon to chat about Glee the passing of Cory Monteith.

  • KelseyW

    Aww! That’s a really sweet picture! <3

I wonder if they had a photo shoot done? Kris and Katy have to be one of the most adorable couples on the planet so it wouldn't surprise me if they did something cute like that.

GOY has to be released as a single, the music video would be hilarious!

The latest report is that Randy is now awake and is breathing on his own. His condition has stabilized, but full recovery will be months away according to his doctors.

  • dd999

Aw! that’s great news! So glad to hear Randy has started on the road to recovery!

Not seeing In The Name of Love. Wanted to hear a recording of that also.
Great to see they’re moving on it now!

It’s still just the first day, maybe that one will get recorded later.

As much as I love to hear Adam interviewed, I’m not sure about this one. I don’t believe for one moment that Adam is taking it upon himself to book interviews to discuss “Glee” and Cory’s passing, so either the radio station is being misleading about the subject of the interview, or Adam was asked by someone connected with Fox or the show to do it – and I don’t understand why he would be. I have every confidence that he will handle the situation admirably, but IMO it really will be a no-win for him with a good portion of the show’s fanbase. If this was set up before Cory’s death, it should probably have been cancelled. If it was set up afterward, it should be done with someone else – someone who actually knew Cory and was involved with the show before his death. Adam is being put in a very awkward position here, at a very sensitive time.

I am sure they are just looking for a sound bite not an in depth discussion. Adam just joined Glee and Cory just passed so it is normal that they might mention him. I really don’t think Adam is expected to represent anyone but himself.

I so agree. I actually showed my 18 yr. old daughter the video of James’ performance from the Catalyst of GOY and she loved it too and said she could see it being a radio hit, lol.

  • justmefornow

Yeah, I love that one too. I also loved the suicide song We Would Have Loved You Anyway. I hope they consider that one as well.

    ICU pimping Idol !!!

    Adam Lambert @adamlambert
4 years ago I auditioned in San Francisco for @AmericanIdol. Insane. It’s back again this week…#BeAPartOfIt

  • everything

I am not sure why he will be talking about Cory Monteith. They had never worked together and did not know each other personally. I hope this isn’t a set-up to milk a PR opportunity.

  • HermeticallySealed

If it is, it’s most likely on the station’s side. More than likely, it was probably supposed to just be talking about the show, then Cory died, and well, idiot media is doing what it does best; milking a situation as awkwardly as humanly possible.

  • Valarie

Not to be nitpicky, but it was 5 years ago. He auditioned in 2008 and was on the show in 2009.

  • weareallinnocent

I noticed the timing error too, but then giving him the benefit of the doubt since he’s pimpling the show, I assume he’s talking of the audition show that aired in 2009.

Of course he could have just made a mistake. lol

  • Miz

Katy looks so beautiful int that picture. Kris isn’t bad either :)
I can’t wait to see the baby pics. Any day now.

OMG, this is so sweet…Allison Iraheta will be opening for Adam at the California Mid State Fair in Paso Robles on the 19th!

  • H.A.

Update for 7/19 CA Mid State Fair opening act for Adam Lambert is Allison Iraheta

  • Montavilla

To me, this points to Adam as being more “joining the cast’ than guest starring for a few episodes.

Either way, it would be part of his job to talk up Glee in interviews. Especially if they were set up by Fox or the Glee producers.

But, as a guest star, he’d be more likely to do an interview about his own stuff, with Glee stuff thrown in as one subject among many. Since Glee is the main subject — and since Adam is expected to address Cory’s death, then it seems like he’s being expected to act as a representative of the show.

I hope that makes sense. It’s hard to articulate what the difference is, but I can sense a difference here between “guest” and “cast.”

If Adam is truly joining the cast on a regular or semi-regular basis, then it’s rather smart to send him out right now. He has the chance to change the conversation a little bit, since people might be curious about what he’ll be doing on the show. He’s Adam, so he’s can handle awkward subject matter in a media interview with grace and sensitivity. And, since he’s not as close to the tragedy as other people in the cast, it’s not going to as wrenching to talk about it for him as it would be for others.

  • DragonFly

I’m with everyone, wanting James to ROCK the house w/some songs on the album too. The 3 songs he’s covered w/StPanther are the (type) of songs he performs well– that I’m hoping there’s some w/that intensity coming also. Reviewing some other good stuff not on the list: Enemies Like You & We All Go Marching On: Those 2 were interesting also w/the recorded touches (imagined anyway).

Cassadee Pope: ‘Country music is my background’

“People don’t realize that country music is my background and that’s what I sang as a kid,” she said in an interview with The Tennessean last week. “I went through my rock phase, but now I’m back in a place where I feel the roots coming back from country music.”

Coming up @OnAirWithRyan…we’ll talk to #Idol alum @adamlambert about his upcoming role on #Glee…and the tragic death of Cory Monteith

I think these interviews were already planned and since Cory died they can’t not talk about it so Adam will happen to be there and commiserate etc while it’s discussed.

  • justmefornow

Sounds good so far and wow, they’re planning on recording 43 songs to choose from?
But I really liked the “inviting u down soon for some shredding” part!
    Can’t wait for some teasers!

  • irockhard

Either that or he means 42 more days of recording. Ditto for shredding, all hope is not lost.

  • justmefornow

Yeah, reading that again it’s probably days, 43 songs to actually record and track would seem a bit much.
I’m sure some of these songs will be heavier too. Even the ones we’ve heard already can sound heavier in their final recorded post production versions.

I’m really curious now about Parachute.

  • irockhard

Me too. He at least had a hand in writing Parachute, so that’s already an improvement over LMB.

  • justmefornow

LOL. LMB sounded so dated even when it was new. I have a feeling now the “new version of Parachute” is the different, trippy one he was talking about. I can’t wait to hear it.

  • irockhard

LMB sounded dated cause it was probably written years ago and pulled from Marti Frederickson’s archive. It sounds a lot like Bo Bice’s “The Real Thing” so it was probably written around 2005 and might have even been originally penned for his debut album. That was just a dumb move on Wind-up’s part.

  • justmefornow

2005 sounds about right for that song, lol.
At least Wind-up let James write and/or co-write all of these next ones for album #2 so hopefully no more dated re-treads.

  • irockhard

Not sure we should get our hopes up too high about Parachute being one of the “real trippy, different” songs. Wind-up’s tastes for singles have been rather safe and unremarkable so far. Would be nice if they would take a chance on something that sounds cutting edge but will they? If they’re only gonna give James one shot to hit then I’d recommend they do that, cause no risk no reward.

  • gem2477

Glad to hear new music from Lauren is coming soon : )
