Why “American Idol” Cut A Drag Queen – “I was like, ‘Wow!'” Keith Urban told BuzzFeed backstage after the show. “I mean JDA came out, and the crowd went crazy! Who knew?!” And yet the judges cut him anyway. Despite all the attempts to make it appeal to a more urban, younger audience, apparently, gender-bending is a bridge Idol still isn’t ready to cross. Blame Idol’s legacy in the music industry. For music exec and Idol’s official mentor Jimmy Iovine, the issue wasn’t JDA’s ability, but his refinement. “The culture’s come a long way,” Iovine said backstage. “Androgyny has always had a spot in popular music: Little Richard, David Bowie, to a certain extent Gaga and Freddie Mercury. But I think [JDA’s performance] was a little too camp for the judges. Camp is not going to do it here. You have to put a little more thought and originality to it.” – Read more at Buzzfeed

(One of Halo Circus’s songs, “Something Special,” was even co-penned by Duran Duran’s John Taylor! Squee!) Allison is rocking harder than ever before, and Yahoo! And, of course, he explained it in true Adam Levine fashion. He continued, “There’s so much sexy out there. Tonight is the last concert of the first leg of Kris’ Out Alive tour. That went by quick!

Next week he will be on the charity cruise with Danny Gokey & Jamar Rogers, but after that, he won’t be doing any performances (that we know of, anyway) — other than his showcase at SXSW in Austin on March 16 — until early April, went he goes back out on the 2nd leg of the tour.

Was she physically there or did he revamp her part of the show and get an actual hologram this time instead of a video?  I’ve been seeing conflicting reports on twitter and I’m really curious about it. There’s been a couple fuzzy photos that’ve surfaced and I can’t tell from them. lol

She’s been in Ohio (Columbus) on Mon/Tue and a couple really small towns in Georgia (Americus & Andersonville) on Wed/Thur/today? filming video for some mysterious thing.

  • usedtobelucy

For Elliott and Blake fans. They go a little nuts, Blake style, for the lulz. An infinite loop of lulz, in fact.

If the drag queen could sing well, he may not be cut. It is tougher for drag queens than for cute innocent, straight looking boys…

It’s nice to see an article on Allison, but it’s hard to take it too seriously when the blogger actually writes “Squee!”

No new song request at Kris’ show tonight, but he did extend his set by about 45 minutes over its usual length, and ended up performing as encore many of the song requests that he had done earlier on the tour. And there were a few last show of the tour type shenanigans, as well :)

  • girlygirltoo

Adam Lambert Dragon Attack Shady kanazawa Feb 23 2013

I love this one, good quality both visual and audio. Adam lets his crew shine during the introduction. Ashley’s bass is awesome. Love her!!

  • Miz

That video of Kris and his band wearing Jillette’s coats was hilarious. I’m going to be going through withdrawal during this hiatus of the Out Alive Tour.

Someone who was at the show said they did all the previous requests for the encore. From the few videos I’ve seen, it was a dynamite end to the first leg of the tour.

  • bridgette12

I am a bigger fan of this song now that Adam is performing it with his band than I was when he toured with Queen. Tommy on guitar and Rick on drums have been outstanding during this tour and particularly this song. I give Adam all the props in the world for giving his bandmembers a chance to shine and I agree is great on bass, doing a better job than Tommy did on the last tour.

  • girlygirltoo

That’s such a fun video. Lol at Kris’ dancing. They are all such dorks, but it’s clear they had a ton of fun on this tour and that Jillette fit right in with the guys. Glad she will be opening for him again during some of his April and May shows.

  • girlygirltoo

God to see the vids from Adam’s overseas shows. This band lineup is very tight.
