Kris Allen’s quite vocal about ‘Idol’ changes

Seismic shifts are coming to “American Idol” when the Fox talent competition returns next month – and at least one previous winner approves: Season eight winner Kris Allen.

“They are making a lot of changes I don’t even think I know about,” Allen told the Herald during a telephone interview from his native Arkansas.

“It will be interesting. I think they needed to do something to keep people interested.”

Allen said adding vocalists Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler to the judges’ panel is a canny move.

X Factor’s Simon Cowell is the new Jesus, say evangelical Christians

The official magazine for the Assemblies of God church has Simon on the cover under the headline ‘The Cowell Factor.’

Inside it reads: “Jesus, the one we think of as being meek and mild, gentle and loving and full of compassion, had the ability to talk tough. For some his words were hard to swallow – just like Cowell’s – but he spoke truth and doesn’t that hurt sometimes?

“Simon Cowell takes, learns from them and grows in the process, and there are numerous stories in the Bible of people who do the same.”

X Factor’ winner ‘to rush release album’

The winner of this year’s X Factor will release their album as soon as possible, according to reports.

The Sun claims that Simon Cowell has pushed the release date forward to avoid the lacklustre sales experienced by last year’s winner Joe McElderry, who failed to reach number one in the UK album chart with Wide Awake.

Traditionally, winners such as Leona Lewis and Alexandra Burke have spent a year working on their debut LP, before returning to launch it on the show the following year.

A source told the paper: “Joe was virtually forgotten by the time he was launched this year.”

Josh Gracin’s show tonight is actually at The Pub at the Monte Carlo casino. It’s Danny who has the HoB Mandalay Bay show in Las Vegas, on December 10th in relation to that same AI promotion by the gaming industry.

Someone found a link to where the rodeo event will be held, kind of a cool-looking venue.

Danny sings the NA there next Friday. It surprised me a little when I first saw that event, but it has some big name participants including Reba coming out to sing the NA or otherwise appear.

What is going on with all the x factor contestants ?
Seems like they have more pressures / nerves than the American Idol people.
Maybe the type of contestants it attracts are more dramatic ?
Should be interesting how Matt and Rebecca or is that Mary ,perform with their voices issues.

And geez Simon, who is partially at fault for Joe Mc ‘s single virtually forgotten ?

I never got around to doing a full concert post here as I was sick the week most of the videos were coming online from Danny’s pre-Thanksgiving schedule, but some new videos of Danny performing at his solo show Nov 20th in Wausau WI.

    Tiny Life

    Hard to Handle (partial)

ETA: Tiny Life has really grown on me after watching Danny do it live in various formats. Possibly the best ballad he does in concert, IWNSG notwithstanding. (Or well, I’d have to add Raining on Sunday if covers are included, lol.)

I know, Steph, I thought the same- what kind of strange little event did he get booked into, but it does look pretty big and there are some big names there too; either performing or singing the NA.

Ok the comparison of Simon Cowell to Jesus Christ? And by Evangelicals??!

    Just wrong and very strange.

I didn’t read the article, but yeah, just in concept I found that quite bizarre and cringe-inducing.

    Amazing Grace – Susan Boyle

    Rebecca…why?!?!

  • BootStar

The official magazine for the Assemblies of God church has Simon on the cover under the headline ‘The Cowell Factor.’

“Simon Cowell takes, learns from them and grows in the process, and there are numerous stories in the Bible of people who do the same.”

This sounds like something that would appear in The Onion. Comparing Jesus to Simon Cowell? WTF! What ever happened to “The love of money is at the root of all evil.”?

    Heresy 101.

  • steph6449

I just don’t even get the purpose or relevance of Simon Cowell on a church magazine cover. If it was a commercial publication, I’d say it was to sell magazines but this doesn’t seem like the type of magazine that’s out there trying to catch casual buyers on newstands.

Simon Cowell takes, learns from them and grows in the process

That seems very weird if they are putting that forward to instruct members of their church. Is Simon even religious at all? I’ve never seen anything to make me think so, which would make this even weirder. If they want to tie in a celebrity to raise interest in their magazine, pick one who makes sense and has at least something in common with the essential faith beliefs of their church. Eeps.

  • Studio57

Sanjaya on The Soup! Love it!!!!!

ETA: Peeps are tweeting that they used Adam’s Sure Fire Winners on some show called Britain Does The Funniest Things ( or something like that). Is that a big show?

  • Soberba

The soup always funny as hell, lol.

  • cookcricket

Apparently whoever wrote the Assemblies of God article doesn’t know Simon Cowell the way we do. First of all, Jesus’ truth is always truth and Simon’s is only the truth as he sees it. Also, Jesus is not a manipulator, and Simon’s manipulation goes without saying. Anyway, that’s the truth as I see it. ;)

A little late to the party here, but this is a huge event with of 170,000 attendees and 5 million dollars in prize money over the week. Lot of money in riding bulls :)

Ok the comparison of Simon Cowell to Jesus Christ? And by Evangelicals??!

    Just wrong and very strange.

Wrong, very wrong! Simon had a list of catch phrases used in past seasons. Very often, his comments did not apply to the actual performance we saw. His cruelty towards contestants’ looks and dress has no value, and certainly NOT a Christian value. What were these people thinking?
