Simon: New ‘X Factor’ To Be ‘More Controversial’ – No replacements for Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger have yet been named, and Cowell would only say that the new judge who’ll take Nicole’s chair would be “someone with a different experience.” Among those rumored to have been under consideration for a judging slot include Britney Spears and Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie. Britney Spears’ Conservatorship Judge Wanted To Talk To Her About New X-Factor Gig! – Brit’s conservators needed to get approval from the court for her to become a judge on the hit talent show. “Britney’s team is almost ready to sign the contract for her to become a judge on X Factor. Before the contract is signed, the lawyers needed to get approval from Judge Reva Goetz, as all business transactions, contracts, etc., need to get formal approval,” a source close to the situation tells RadarOnline.com. “Judge Goetz wanted to talk to Britney in person to make sure this is something that she wanted to do, and that she was capable of doing. The judge was extremely impressed and Britney is very, very excited to become a part of Simon Cowell’s show. The judge signed off on the deal. “Under terms of the contract, Britney will be paid around $15 million a year. She will travel out of state for auditions, as long as it doesn’t interfere with her custodial time with her sons. The boys will be allowed to come to the set whenever Britney wants them there. Her sons are her number one priority. Jason has been heavily involved in the contract talks,” the insider says. – RadarOnline

Can’t think of anything more controversial than Simon blaming everyone but himself for his crappy first season of  X Factor.   The talent wasn’t there–period, nor was any excitement.   Firing Paula won’t make him more popular, and people are only going to tune in to see if Britney is more than a talking head, then tune out unless she proves to be a show in itself.

That explains why the kids were so excited when they got out of their mentoring sessions this week.

No talent on XF?  Thats interesting. There seem to be quite a few who have come out with some sweet deals.  Simon and Syco have done a great job with their post show roles.  Idol could learn a few things.

Enjoyed David A.’s Vangie video today.  After watching a very emotional Finale of his 5 week Mini Series of Nandito Ako and listening to a Ustream of his beautiful Love songs from his new album Forevermore, and watching a tribute video by hundreds of fans from all over the world letting David know we will be there, it was nice to see something light!!  Time is getting very close for David to leave on his Two Year Mission.  He is in the studio again tonight recording for a US album which will be released in the Fall while he is gone.

  • Anonymous

Had to laugh at the Vangie video.  David and food.  He was like a kid in a candy shop looking at all the food.  The boy does like to eat.

  • Kitwana

Journey1, David A really does love trying different foods. That’s probably why his performance was so convincing in that Vangie skit. One of the biggest sacrifices David will probably have to make during his mission is giving up all the different kinds of foods he has been able to try the past four years. Hopefully he will be close enough to a big city or town or even a big hotel that he’ll be able to make the occasional trip for the Thai food he so loves.

  • Anonymous

Kitwana   At least David is very adventurous in trying new things, so if he get sent to a place where the food is unusual, he will be fine.  Some young people are used to eating burgers, fries, etc.  I have a feeling he will be sent someplace in the boondocks where he might not be recognized.

  • harvestmoon

Why couldn’t Simon make “the show he always wanted to make” last year? He had a year and a half to put X-Factor together after he left AI.

  • Anonymous

I’m not sure I want to see the show Simon has “always wanted to make”.  I can only take so much sleaze in my life on any given day and he has already stuck his toe on that line a few time.

  • Anonymous

Whatever J.Lo, I have no interest in what you have to say…

They have done such a great job that Melanie’s album is being released a year after she wins…

Just bought Haley’s single from Amazon and had to do a double take…James Durbin’s Stand Up is the #1 song in the Movers & Shakers on Amazon today??  I certainly didn’t expect to see that!

  • larc

I have a feeling he will be sent someplace in the boondocks where he might not be recognized.

I’m trying to visualize where that could be.  People will probably recognize David almost everywhere he goes.  When Mormon missionaries ring my doorbell, I always tell them no thanks and wish them a nice day.  But I’m afraid if David comes to my door, I will invite him in and listen to every word he has to say.  :)

  • http://www.velvetspark.com Jordan Seltzer

In the “real world” not “reality tv world” artists are signed and they actually take time working on an album to make it good, not push it out in two months.

  • Anonymous

I suspect there are a lot of homes at which David will not be recognized. Maybe not whole sections of the area but at many houses. I know many, many people who have never seen AI and could not place anyone -other than the biggest stars of the show – or even name most of them.

I doubt he will not be placed anywhere near Salt Lake or the Phillipines where he seems to be the most popular.

Steven Tyler and Randy, the contestants who are there now are the ones YOU put there and you knew exactly what they would do. Stop this stupid bitching.

  • Karen C

For some reason, Simon thinks that it’s better to wait until the next season of the show to release their albums. He did the same thing to the winner of the UK X Factor.

Maybe good for them to have more time, but they should get them out a bit quicker than a year.

  • fuzzywuzzy

““It will be the show I’ve always wanted to make, and now I have the ability to do it,” he said.”

Considering that Simon has said this, I definitely do NOT regard it as a good thing.  lol

James’ stand up was the Amazon song of the day Thursday for $0.69

  • steph6449

That’s nice that Lauren and Scotty will be on Day Jobs. But lol, their true “day job” was being a student so will they show them going back to class? And can either of them have held a part-time job very long?

The show won’t be that interesting long-term if the “Day Job” is just temp employment and not really anything that was a significant part of someone’s background before making it on the music scene.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_AGWO435FL6UN2ICRVTFLWRJZSA Lexie

While neither Lauren nor Scotty could have held their part-time jobs for very long, the whole list is varied.

And throw in people like Hunter Hayes, who have never done anything except music (for better and worse) are getting to do their dream jobs…come one, did they really give them a choice?  I’d pick my dream job over going back to waitressing any day (nothing wrong with being a waitress, just saying my dream job, wait, I’m doing my dream job, at least part time, okay that made my day…), but you all get my point…

After I saw that with Stand Up last night I did some checking myself – I couldn’t believe my eyes.  You are right that it was the song of the day, but it was 99 cents, not 69 cents.  Maybe after this sale is over, they should try putting it up for 69 cents too at a later time.

  • Anonymous

Desperate for sales for James’ Stand Up @ 69 cents!

  • Anonymous

Speaking of prices, who sets them?  The record label or Amazon?  I can never figure out why some people are priced higher than others.  Like James’ singles have always been $1.29 (until this sale of Stand Up).  But I just bought Haley’s yesterday and it was 99 cents and that is a brand new release.  I don’t understand their pricing on Amazon. Unless maybe it’s the record label helping to set the prices.

  • Indigobunting

“Desperate for sales for James’ Stand Up @ 69 cents!”

Umm, that is not unusual.  Casey James song has been 69 cents for a significant part of its presence.  It was dropped to 69 cents when it entered the top 40 to get sales.  And again at top 30 to improve sales.  It stayed there for a long time.  And it worked, the song started to sell.  It’s free now; but that is just to garner interest in album sales.

I’ve noted other songs on sale (even older ones) for 69 cents.

  • Chris

It’s more fun watching Scotty say, “do you want paper or plastic? ” and seeing Lauren in one of those awful fast food hats drop a pizza. A lot has already leaked out about their school activities. Lauren the cheerleader and Scotty the choir boy/pitcher.

  • Chris

They have even done free songs but I don’t see it as desperate. When you go into Starbucks there often is a card for a free tune. It just comes down to exposure. Heck even some artists have to sing for free until they find an audience.

  • Anonymous

That’s what I don’t understand.  Why would Casey James be 69 cents, but James Durbin be $1.29 without going on sale until now with Stand Up being 99 cents, when James has clearly been struggling all along with single sales.  Who decides, I wonder, when singles go on sale.  I think a 69 cent sale for James Durbin would probably help him out a lot. Clearly even putting Stand Up on sale for 99 cents has helped his sales of that song the past few days. Guess I just don’t understand why if James has been struggling with his single sales, they have him so high priced. Love Me Bad still is, and always has been as far as I know, $1.29 – higher than a lot of other singles.

  • Anonymous

I really do not think it matters much what they did or how long they did it the show is just a vehicle to see someone you enjoy as a performer doing something else.

  • Anonymous

Did anyone understand what Steven said at the end of the video regarding Casey? It sounded like the first time Steven saw him was on a plane not auditioning for American Idol..

  • Nele621

IMO, I don’t think Archuleta will be recognizable almost everywhere. Maybe in the Philippines and Utah.

  • Anonymous

Nele621  You would be surprised to see a map of where he has fans.  Someone made one up a year or so ago.  He has fan clubs all over the world.  Germany, Spain, Chile, Peru, Singapore, Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, etc.  People recognize him and tweet that recognition all over the US.  I am sure the PTB had serious discussions about where to send him.  David will do well wherever he goes and will not expect any special privileges.

Kathy and Hoda visit the set of this weeks Celebrity Apprentice so I am sure Clay and the girls will have much to talk about. Should be fun.

  • http://twitter.com/gator90 Cookie Dunker

I think people are just getting tired of these talent shows.
AI still seems to produce a good one now and then, as Scotty can attest, but not like in the early days. You really don’t hear much about any of the winners from other shows.

  • http://twitter.com/gator90 Cookie Dunker

Really looking forward to Celebrity Apprentice this week. Today show will be interesting to get some behind the scenes stuff, and Clay is always fun and interesting.

  • djafan

If you haven’t been following David Archuleta’s journey you’d be pretty shocked to see how well known David A is internationally and also in other states besides Utah lol.
