And worth noting–FULL performances from the Las Vegas Performance Challenge rounds! American Idol YouTube ChanneLas Vegas Round Playlist.

Adam Lambert – ‘I’m Not Trying To Outdo Freddie Mercury’ – What songs do you want to sing? And which ones don’t you? “We really haven’t gotten there yet, I just was emailing Brian a week or two ago and I was asking him, ‘What’s the setlist gonna be?’ It’s gonna be a team decision, obviously Brian and Roger are the boss, so whatever they wanna do I’m up for, I’m just happy to be there.” “I’m really excited to perform ‘Another One Bites The Dust, that’s one of my favourites. I’m interested to see if we’ll be doing ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ and whatever capacity it is, it’s quite a vocal undertaking with all the parts, so I don’t know if they’re gonna be other vocalists onstage or what. That’ll be pretty intense, to see how we approach that one.” – Read more at NME

Pia Toscano: Katsuya Stunner – Kicking off her weekend a bit early, Pia Toscano was spotted out to dinner at Katsuya restaurant in Los Angeles last night (February 23). The “American Idol” alum was all smiles and looked absolutely fantastic in a sleeveless red cocktail dress as she worked her magic for the paparazzi. See the Photos at Celebrity Gossip

‘Essence’ honors black women in Hollywood – The event also paid tribute to Whitney Houston, who died Feb. 11, by playing her music throughout lunch. Jordin Sparks, Houston’s co-star in the upcoming film Sparkle, remembered Houston before performing a song from the film: “She went from being this unreachable supernova pop star to my co-star to my friend.” – Read more at USA Today

Jordin Sparks On Whitney Houston: ‘She Was An Incredible Woman’ – “I don’t know how I’m gonna do in there. We’ll see,” Jordin told Access Hollywood on the red carpet before the event. “We’ll see what happens. If I choke up… “I’ll get it together,” she continued. “Have to try and keep it in.” “It definitely makes me very emotional,” she told Access. “I looked up to her and I sang her songs and then all of a sudden I was in a movie with her and I got to see her face-to-face, and she was so kind and she was so sweet. “I was already going to do it and sing a song from the movie and everything like that and then all recent events happened, and now I’m going to be singing a song that she actually sang, but is also in the movie, from the original, it’s called ‘Look Into Your Heart,’” – Read more at Access Hollywood

WWE stars, musician, actress lead anti-bullying rally at La Mirada’s Los Coyotes Middle School – LA MIRADA – A group of entertainers from the movie, music and wrestling world brought an anti-bullying message Thursday to Los Coyotes Middle School. Michael Gregory “The Miz” Mizanin and Diva Eve Marie Torres of World Wrestling Entertainment, rock musician James Durbin, an “American Idol” star and actress Rachel Cook spoke to about 650 students at the school. “Every day when I got to school, I was bullied all day,” he said. “I got to the point of where I was late to school every single day.” – Read more at Whittier Daily News

Theater Talkback: Betty Buckley on Why She Took on ‘American Idol’ – Since that exchange, the debate has continued in blogs and newspapers. And the popularity of “American Idol” means the discussion is still worth having. I think it’s important that young performers be encouraged — not discouraged — in their dreams to sing, whether on Broadway or in the pop arena, by a show that purports to celebrate great singing. The lines of demarcation about this style vs. that style of singing are not hard and fast. This is in truth a matter of “style,” and not the essence of what constitutes a great voice. – Read more at the New York Times

Adam said they asked it on the application and he answered it truthfully.

The show may not care but the voters do.

AI asks the contestants their sexual orientation on the application they complete before they audition for the producers.

The latter is the contradiction of the former. The show cares, the voters care, the Idol bubble cares. There’s no pretending it doesn’t matter.

I thought the Adam/Queen story would be a 1 or 2 day story but it’s 5 days later and the media is still talking about it. I can’t believe how much International and US press this story has gotten. There is going to be a lot of expectations put on Adam and a lot of media scrutiny for the next few months. I wish I could be there but I’m hoping it will be televised or some amazing videos come out of it.

I also think it will be a big deal for Queen returning 26yrs later to the same place they performed with Freddie Mercury.

    WH Times:
Queen on emotional return to Knebworth for Sonisphere 2012 Festival

“And Queen will make a world exclusive headline appearance on the
Saturday night – 26 years after playing before 120,000 fans at the
    famous Hertfordshire venue.

Flamboyant, face-painted rockers Kiss and fellow Americans Faith No More will headline the other two nights of Sonisphere 2012.
    But
it is Queen’s special one-off show, with former American Idol runner-up
Adam Lambert filling the shows of the late Freddie Mercury, that will
send shockwaves through the music world.”

I don’t think David Hernandez is gay. He just danced/stripped at a gay bar.

Your friends could be wrong. Some metal fans are not happy with the questions asked in the NME interview and are discussing the implications on the Sonisphere forums.
    One example:

Those are some pretty disgusting accusations from NME and I’m of a mind to
e-mail them to tell them my feelings about that.

I’m not going to claim that Metal fans are always friendly and accepting, in
fact there is a lot of hypocrisy in Metal about that sort of thing. Bottling
does happen of course, I have seen My Chemical Romance and Aiden being bottled
but Reading festival is by far the worst for it and in three years of
Sonisphere not a single band has been bottled.
Then the writer made up some
crap about people pissing in the bottles first. I have no idea where the writer
got the idea about Metal fans chanting “You fat bastard” either,
Sonisphere is not a football match.

I’m going to have to disagree with you there. David Hernandez is gay.

in three years of Sonisphere not a single band has been bottled

That’s because there is no bottles allowed at the event. lol. I’m afraid this is all pretty much made up by certain friends or everyone is reading the same story.

This quote is taken directly from the article:

”The X Factor” and “The Voice” eagerly embrace singers of every color, style and persuasion.”
    Doesn’t persuasion mean sexuality?

  • Anonymous

That sucks.  I hope they have  a box ‘none of your business’.

  • Anonymous

Hmmm, really?  I’ve never seen anything actually corroborating that.  Interesting.

  • Anonymous

Well, hopefully, it won’t happen and Sonisphere will be a huge success for all the acts performing. I just had never heard of truck bombs before, and they had.

Hope the 2 Rock Festivals James is performing in this summer aren’t like that!

I wonder how Gene Simmons feels about not much talking about KISS in the headlines worldwide but mostly about Queen w/Adam……LOL

Adam was out on the show, he’d been out and proud since he was 19. Just because he didn’t actually say the words ‘I’m gay’ on the programme didn’t mean he was ‘in the closet’. danny Gokey and Kris Allen weren’t introduced as openly straight singers on the show, so why should Adams sexuality have been brought into the argument. Sexuality has no baring on someones singing ability, and Idol is afterall a singing show.

  • Anonymous

But why should they have to. Straight people don’t have to declare their sexuality before they sing, why do people feel that gay or bisexual people should have too???

  • Anonymous

But again, why should he have to??? its a singing show, I really don’t understand why someone needs to be declaring their sexuality. It has absolutely nothing to do with their singing ability. Why can’t they just be themselves.

  • Anonymous

it won’t be all heavy metal fans….I’m going:)

I love it! Watching the full performances now. :) Awesome stuff…

Rock festival crowds are tough. I’ve seen tomatoes thrown at 30 sec to Mars and they left the stage after one song. Lots of sun, lots of alcohol and not every band is to everyone’s liking. If you play a rock festival, gotta have some thick skin.
