Healing in the Heartland – Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton, Usher Perform – VIDEOS

Blake Shelton hosted Healing in the Heartland, a concert to benefit those affected by the devastating tornadoes in Oklahoma earlier this month. The one hour special aired on NBC last night.

Miranda Lambert, Rascal Flatts, Darius Rucker, Luke Bryan, Reba McEntire, Vince Gill and Ryan Tedder performed. If you want to donate to Healing in the Heartland, Text REBUILD to 52000 to donate $10 or go to http://facebook.com/unitedway for more info.

The most heart wrenching moment of the night came when Miranda Lambert broke down so completely during her performance of “The House That Built Me” that she couldn’t go on for a minute.

Vince Gill’s performance of “Threaten Me With Heaven” was also incredibly moving.

Usher joined his fellow The Voice coach, Blake Shelton, on stage to close the hour with a duet of “Home”.

Miranda’s performance was most touching and she looked better than I have ever seen her !!

A great event. I especially enjoyed the Blake/Usher duet. Miranda’s performing was particularly moving.

Kelly has donated two VIP concert tickets for the OK benefit ebay auction:

Lots of items are being auctioned (concert VIP ticket packages, signed guitars, etc.)

What a great night of entertainment. Miranda was very moving and brought everything into perspective, but for me the highlight of the night was Blake and Usher’s duet, it was a great way to close the show.

I think Blake and Usher really have become good friends, and No, Blake, There probably isn’t anyone cooler than Usher.

Usher has a beautiful voice. That was a gorgeous duet on Home.

A bunch of very moving performances. I hope the show raised a lot of money to help rebuild Oklahoma.

The Blake/Usher duet was beautiful. Sometimes it’s easy to forget what a good voice Usher has, because the emphasis is often on his overall performance/stage presence.

Gosh those were such touching performances – music has such a strong way to send a healing message. Love the friendship that has developed between Blake and Usher.

    Awww…Blake & Usher <3

Even if I had no interest in any of these performers, I’m happy they raised a substantial amount of money. That’s the whole point – and every one of these benefit efforts are appreciated.

    So pitchy.

One of the best things about this benefit was that the overhype and tryhard factors that can make awards show performances annoying was completely absent. It was nice to be able to put away the overhype for Blake and Miranda and enjoy them at their sincerest, especially Miranda on her signature song. Usher really, really impressed me on ‘Home’ – he was humble, understated, and sounded wonderful.

Vince Gill can always be counted on to move people, and ‘Threaten Me With Heaven’ was a gorgeous, poignant tribute. The spirit that he brings to his performances is something we could use so much more of in music.

I wasn’t that comfortable with everybody singing past hits at first but came around to thinking that this may’ve been about getting performance licenses cleared as quickly as possible. Pretty much everybody except for Luke Bryan chose appropriate songs anyway.

Kinda hard to hold onto your pitch when you’re about to bawl your eyes out lol.

I gave Bobby Bones (@MrBobbyBones) a pair of my dance shoes that I wore on “Dancing With The Stars” as well as an autographed guitar to auction off for the tornado victims in Oklahoma!! If you’re able to bid, know that your money will go to help those who’s lives were devastated by this tragic incident. Blessings, Pickler

I completely forgot this was on last night. I’m sorry I missed it. Thanks, MJ, for posting some highlight videos. These are gorgeous. I was crying right along with Miranda. So moving.

Good for Blake and all the contributing artists for getting this together rather quickly and for giving their time to help out their home state. I hope they raised a ton of money to help with the beginning stages of the long rebuilding process.

On a sidenote, Blake and Usher were too awesome! There’s a new bromance in town. lol

I heard that Blake and Usher brought their Voice contestants to OKC. Does anyone know if this is true?

  • heartly

Looks like it. Here’s a couple instagram photos from people associated with Blake, the first from one of the guys with Starstruck Management and the other from his hair/makeup girl.
