E Online is reporting that Amber Riley’s (Mercedes) love interest for the upcoming season of Glee will be played by LaMarcus Tinker, who played Luke Cafferty’s friend Dallas on Friday Night Lights.
Season 2 ended with Mercedes hand in hand with Sam. Unfortunately, Chord Overstreet who played the sweet blond jock for one season on Glee decided not to return to the show.
So, producers have scrambled to find her a new love interest. At Comic Con, producer, Brad Falchuk revealed they were looking to cast a a “big bubba, very encouraging” kind of guy for Mercedes. TV Line revealed he’ll be a line backer on the football team, a “gigantosaur by the name of Bubba.”
TV Line had also reported the producers are looking to cast two new “mean girls” and a 60-something Geometry teacher. And of course, the winner of The Glee Project will star in a 7 episode story arc.
In other Glee news, the cast is back at work as of yesterday! According to cast tweets, Eric Stoltz is directing the first episode (He directed “Prom Queen”. You may also remember him from the 80’s movie, Mask)
Lea Michele (Rachel) tweeted today, “Shooting an awesome scene in Emma’s office with @chriscolfer..” (eeee!)
And then later, “Finished filming for the day! Now back in the recording studio! Singing some BROADWAY! You know I’m happy!!!!!”

Iqbal Theba, who plays Principal Figgins tweeted, “1st day on the set for GLEE S3… sc with @janemarielynch @Matt_Morrison @ericstoltz n I get to say “William!””
Dot Marie Jones (Coach Biest) tweeted “GM PUNKINS! STARTED SHOOTING GLEE YESTERDAY! FEELS AMAZING TO BE BACK TO WORK! 1ST EPISODE UNDERWAY! LOVE MY LIL PUNKINS!”
And finally, TV Line is reporting that for the Sept 20 Season opener, “… Quinn gets back in touch with her inner bad girl…” and, ” several castmembers will be taking a crash course in tap-dancing in preparation.”
