nice, always thought she was talented.

    Unexpected. Love it

  • Wfish88

She definatly should’ve came in 6th-8th, she picked some bad song choices tho during her run

  • BluSky

Erika looks wonderful! And the video is quite good. Just not my type of music.. also feel sorry for the teddy bear, poor thing :)

Erika surprised/impressed me on the Idol tour last summer. That’s when i actually noticed her. She is very talented, and i like her voice and stage presence. I think she just needs the right song to break through.

  • Cavaknights

Seems like all of the AI 11 people are doing these upbeat dancy songs which do not showcase their vocal talents very well….

  • BluSky

I wouldn’t say “all”… Phillip Phillips is very different in his sound and lyrics… Colton’s music is different too.

But the girls (Jessica, Hollie, and now Erika) seem to follow the same dancy mindless pattern. There is hope they will grow up some day :)

  • Anny_nanny

You forgot about dance-single of DeAndre.

  • BluSky

He is dancy, but i am not sure if he released anything post-idol. Did he?

    ha! thanks, i didn’t know :)
I like that there is some storyline in the video. Seems more meaningful this way

  • RedMountainRanch

Not bad. But, her ballads are incredible. Hopefully, she does a great mix on the album. I’ll pick this tune up when it hits iTunes.

Not my kind of music either–but it’s catchy and a cool vid. She has a great voice. Wish her the best. I also hope she doesn’t just do the poppy dance type of songs. She doesn’t need all that production.

  • MyDailyComment

    Very energetic.

This isn’t the type of music I thought she would be putting out, TBH.

  • CindyMoniz

    Love it! :)

Really like it. Won’t claim it sends a profound message, but like how the song’s constructed. It has an 80s feel to it, in a good way.

Also, while I rarely comment on looks… this hairstyle really, really suits her.

I liked Van Pelt on Idol, but I kinda wish I’d gotten to see this gal.

  • Happyhexer

Thanks for this thread, MJ! As I’ve said before, Erika & Elise were my early favs during AI11. Totally not expecting this. Has a throwback sound. But I still love it. Makes me wanna get up & dance.

Will be interesting to see what her CD ends up being like. Wouldn’t surprise me if she showcases a variety of sounds. And since she’s not doing this as a major label gig, why not?

ITA with Eilonwy_has_an_emu on the hairstyle. Erika looks gorgeous. The hair gives her a youthful, energetic look.

Also agree with BluSky on the stage presence. Erika made the most of her one solo. And, even though she wasn’t doing anything wrong (like hamming it up, etc.), my eye kept being drawn to her when she was doing backing vocals because she seemed so comfortable and happy to be on stage.

Really good! I think Erika is great.
