Elise Testone Performs Original Songs – Charleston Music Hall (VIDEO)

Elise Testone brought her signature bluesy style to the Charleston Music Hall in Charleston, SC on February 14, and lucky for us, professional, extremely high quality videos were shot of her set and uploaded to You Tube.

The tunes include several impressive original songs from the American Idol 11 alum. Check it out below. Ah. I’m reminded why Queen Elise was my absolute favorite finalist from season 11.

My favorites are the soulful “I’m Running” and the beautiful ballad, “I Will Not Break”. All are worth a listen. Check out Elise’s official You Tube Channel for more.

I’ve missed Elise!!! As my name suggests, I am an EliTe. I honestly don’t know how to keep up with her besides Twitter.

Has she hinted at getting signed at all or releasing an album???
It was great hearing that beautiful voice again.

Is she wearing an engagement Ring? Why is she wearing that silly tiara?  Elise was one of the older singers, and I don’t think the older singers get a fair shake on AI.

She should release a live EP of this, or something.

    She sounds so great!

Lulz. She needs a fashion consultant ASAP though. I liked her hippy-trippy looks best on Idol. But, vocally, wow. She’s on fire.

I like to listen to Elise – her voice has so much texture, and her tone is always great…and she plays with the notes like a juggler – never dropping a one.

I’ve been through these once each, and I was lovin’ the Middle Eastern spin on “I Will Not Break” and “In This Life” like the one she added to “Vienna” on the show – and along with that, on “In This Life” I heard a whiff of very specific Delta Blues – that one sticks with a person. I would buy that.

Also “Soothing Beauty” moves – but what a rhythm! The tempo keeps changing up – jumps from atonal to melodic to down and dirty blues – I think I would like to hear that with even more instruments – it’s got so many cool interwoven parts. That’s pretty intricate writing, IMO.

Really nice to hear from her – the only person I ever voted for in Season 11, so last season wasn’t a total wash for me.

If she’s ready to do some recording, I may have to set up a Google alert to keep current on what’s happening.

    Gorgeous haunting tone…

Elise tweeted just this past week that she was getting ready to record her album.  I don’t know more details that that, but she said she is working in the studio all week.  No idea if she’s releasing it on her own or what though.

Man, I really would like Elise to sing some Lauryn Hill. I think her voice would sound great singing some “Ex-Factor”.

  • jammasta

Take notes, everyone from Idol S12.

I still think Elise should have at least gotten 3rd or 2nd with Jessica winning and Joshua filling in the other spot.

she said on twitter that she’s recording next week!

finally! some high quality videos of her songs!

these are really great. I’ve been listening to “Better Than” on repeat. i just don’t get why she’s not doing more to promote the songs. she barely tweeted one video.

Now here is a girl that is hustling to make something happen with her music career!  She’s writing new songs, getting a band and back-up singers together, rehearsing, booking venues to perform and selling tickets.  Up to this point, I believe it has been almost completely on her own initiative, from what I can gather from her Twitter.

Her twitter feed also suggests that she has retained an agent to book gigs so that she can tour.  Although probably not with as large an ensemble that she had for the Charleson, SC gig.  I know some of those people have regular jobs or play in other bands.

Good for Elise!  She didn’t get as far as she deserved on Idol (s/h/b at least 4th) but she kept a good attitude on tour and didn’t let her finish position define her.  If she is making a living doing what she loves, you can’t get better than that.  Good luck the rest of the way Elise!

While I mostly agree, I think in some ways people like Elise and EVP came out of Idol with a leg up over most of their Idol friends in the sense that they are a bit older and already had been hustling regarding their music careers pre-Idol.  These two have that experience and knows what it takes.  They’ve seemingly got networks of musician friends in their hometown areas and in some ways just went back to plugging away as they had before Idol, now with an extra leg-up based on the exposure that Idol provided.   If you read their feeds, they are both constantly doing gigs.  So while I commend them both for the hustle, like I said, I think this is just kind of natural for them.  It’s a different experience than say a Hollie, who started singing relatively recently and seemingly much of her musical experience (and contacts) are wrapped up in Idol.

    I LOVE her.

Oh, my. I love “I Will Not Break.”

    Elise’s upper register sucks.
Should stick to the blues and forget about the falsetto.

I actually think she was better than Jessica…much more soul and depth to her voice. Better tone. Not to knock Jessica’s near-perfect technique. I think she was the best of season 11.

  • imoroza

    Wow, what a talented girl

  • mtlfan2

Elise is really good!! Like her writing and singing!!
I’m getting her CD when released.

Soothing Beauty was beautiful, loved her starting acapella in the begining. I’m loving all these new songs that she wrote.  Can’t wait for her album.

  • girlygirltoo

She sounds great! Glad to hear she is recording an album. Wonder if she’ll rellease it herself or get some sort of distrib deal with a smaller label.

I hope she does some sort of tour — would love to go to one of her shows

My friend and I went to this concert.  Elise sounded even better than she did on AI.  I enjoyed her original songs, but also the covers she did.  My favorite was a song called “700 Houses” written by Susan Tedeschi.  She also sang “One and Only” by Adele and of course, “Whole Lotta Love.”  I wish they would make the entire concert available on video.  It was truly wonderful.
