Some of our favorites, including Glee star, Darren Criss and Nashville’s Clare Bowen and Sam Palladio, appeared on the Sunday night (12/14) ABC special, Disney on Broadway.
It was 20 years ago that Disney debuted on the Great White Way with a production of Beauty and the Beast. Since then, the company has found success mounting Broadway productions of Aladdin, The Lion King, Mary Poppins, Newsies and more!
The Disney on Broadway special celebrates 20 years of Broadway success with backstage interviews and some fabulous performances of songs from favorite musicals.
Glee star Darren Criss puts his own spin on “Proud of Your Boy” from the current smash musical Aladdin. This song was not in the original movie musical, but added to the Broadway show later. Darren created the guitar-based arrangement himself.
And in case you’re wondering if the song–with it’s tale of disappointed parents–has any significance to Darren’s real life? Just know that Darren actual mom is VERY proud of her boy. This little BTS interaction between Darren and mama Cerina is adorable. (Mom is a native of Cebu, Philippines, in case you were wondering.)
Clare Bowen and Sam Palladio play musical partners, Scarlett and Gunnar on ABC’s soapy musical drama, Nashville. Here they are performing a lovely duet of the title song from Beauty and the Beast.
