Congratulations to Danny Gokey. He announced in an interview on FOX news this morning that he was engaged to his girlfriend  Leyicet.

The couple plan a wedding next month.

Official Press Release

Danny announced his engagement recently to family and friends. The couple is planning a wedding for late January, 2012.

Danny’s passion and focus for the last three years has been his country music career and launching Sophia’s Heart Foundation. He is thrilled to have found Leyicet who also shares his passion and desire to help children and families in need. Accordingly, Danny & Leyicet have requested to their wedding guests that all gifts be in the form of a donation to Sophia’s Heart.

The couple shared the following statement:

“We are thankful for so many of the blessings God has given us. It is our desire to see homeless children and families be kept together and lifted back on their feet through the help of Sophia’s Heart. We love and appreciate you all.”

At least 7 country radio stations so far congratulating him on Twitter, including WBKR, WKDQ, KissCountry, etc; won’t be boring and list them.  I’m sure more are to come.

I’m glad the Country industry seems to think Danny is still a part of it; despite some predictions of a CCM career post RCA ;)

I’m happy for them.  They seem very compatible with the same values, and that’s so important in any marriage.  God bless them!

I am so glad that Danny has found happiness and I hope he and Leyicet have a wonderful life together!  I think it is very sweet that she asked that people donate to Sophia’s Heart in lieu of wedding gifts, to me it is a great gesture of respect to the memory of his first wife and that Danny’s goals with the organization have become her goals too.  I think that is something he needs in order to be happy so when I heard she had done this I was very pleased to hear it.

I’m glad Danny has found a new love. His efforts to keep his first wife’s memory alive really speaks highly of him. But I’m glad he’s been able to emotionally move forward.  And man, she’s pretty!
