Awesomeness. Crystal Bowersox and Melissa Etheridge joined forces at the Ohio State Fair last night to sing Melissa’s tune, “Sleep While I Drive”.

“We decided via text to do this song,” said Melissa, “We’ve never done it together, but that’s not stopping us is it!”

“We come from the bars,” says Melissa on the duo’s ability to perform on fly. And indeed, they do. Check it out below.

    She really is that. So effortless too. No rehearsal and yet she is singing and harmonizing like she’s performed this song with ME 100s of times.

    I wish she would come to the DC area so I could see her live. Just love her

    Crystal is going to be around for a long time. She’s a real natural and you can see how much she loves what she is doing. She reminds me of Paul in some ways. Both true musicians, grateful for the exposure from AI, but happy to go out on their own.

    Crystal looks like she’s lost a bunch of weight. She looks phenomenal. And her voice is as pretty as ever. This is one that I sure hope gets to record a second album. It will go nicely on my shelf with the first one.

    Shit, that made me well up! I love Crystal. I think she is phenomenal. There is something about her when she sings that’s just beautiful, ugh, there are no words.

    I love when the idolettes find someone they connect with musically someone who becomes their mentor and friend. Like Reba and Kelly. Magic happens when they sing together. Luvs it!

    Crystal is doing exactly what she was born to do. Glad I am around to see it unfold.

    Crystal has such an amazing voice. Pure and clear – gee – like crystal. I have bought two CDs of idols – Daughtry and Crystal. I really hope and pray that she finds her place in the industry so I can keep buying her. I flove her.

    WOW! WOW!! WOW!!!
    This is the second time Crystal and Melissa have performed together. The first was right after Idol tour ended and they performed at the HARD ROCK for PINKTOBER 2010 (with my son, Frankie May on bass)! They both sound so much more magnificent together here! “True talent”!!!
