Season 9 runner up, Crystal Bowersox, performed a song she wrote recently called “Dead Weight” at a at the sold out concert at Dominican University on September 17.

More powerful, aching stuff from Crystal.  What do you think? I can’t wait for Crystal to make her way to the North East for a concert I’ll be there.

    I really think she is the best songwriter the show has ever seen. Her music is deep and comes from the heart.

    It’s easy to label people, Mr. Hound, but the fact is she is an extremely talented singer/songwriter of several genres. She is also a compassionate and giving person of quality who uses whatever celebrity she has to regularly help many causes. Oh, by the way, this “country bumpkin” will the headlining act at the prestigious Peace Corps Gala at the Ronald Reagan Building in D.C. this weekend. This doesn’t sound to bumpkinish to me. Ohl, and in case you missed it, she makes her acting debut with Dana Delaney on “Body of Proof” tonight.

    ‘Grandpatimes9′, Crystal’s episode on Body of Proof is not tonight, the Producer said it may be on Oct. 25, but not confirmed, and they’ll let us know when it’s confirmed.

    They also tweeted how good Crystal was, and that they were lucky to get her.

    I’m with you MJ–I wish Crystal would do some shows on the east coast. Maybe she could do a Balto/DC one for me and then head up to MA for you–or vice versa. How about NYC–it’s just a three hours by car or train. Come east Crystal!!

    I love the song. IA–Crystal is very good songwriter. Just a natural talent. I remember first discovering some of her originals on youtube after hearing her during Hollywood week. I was really impressed and start downloading what I could.

    She is one of the few idols that I would pay money to see live in concert–not counting idol tour. (The other few would be Kelly C, Melinda D, Haley and Casey A–Carrie U for my husband–LOL) When season 9 came to my area it was on a night that I could absolutely not attend. I was just going to go downtown and see her set. I didn’t care about anyone else.

    So excited to learn that Crystal will be acting. Can’t wait to see that show. I have been saying for a long time that if they ever get that Eva Cassidy bio pic off the ground—she would be perfect for the role

    One of the best singer / songwriters I’ve heard in a generation.  Every one of her songs seems to pierce straight into my soul.  Her acoustic performances are the most powerful, the most pure.  Listening makes you realize what over-produced crap we are usually forced to listen to.  I hope she will be able to record her next album the way she feels it.
