The rumors were true. Clay Aiken will compete on the next Celebrity Apprentice. Debbie Gibson and Real Housewives of New Jersey’s Teresa Giudice are also in the cast.

Oy. I haven’t quite figured out yet what’s in it for Clay to appear on a cheesy reality show.  I mean, one that’s infinitely more cheesy than Idol.

Celebrity Apprentice begins its new season in March.

This is really sad……….next step Celebrity Rehab.

For what? Addiction to hair products??

Ummmm, Clay does not drink, smoke, gamble or do drugs. I don’t think Celebrity Rehab would be his next step.
Why wouldn’t Clay go on Celebrity App. if he can garner $$ for his Foundation? Sounds like a win-win to me. Shoot – I say “Go for it!”

Why wouldn’t Clay go on Celebrity App

Because it makes him appear desperate but I gather whacky jackie is kind of desperate these days.

Hi Everyone … I’m a newbie here Just want to say that I think it’s great for Clay to be a part of Celebrity Apprentice to further his favorite charity. That’s what it’s all about in the end … good for him.

  • http://www.comcast.net KAT80

Celebrity Apprentice is mainly about raising money for each star’s charity. Yes, there are some crazy people and moments on the show, but if you watched the last few seasons, a lot of money was raised for some very worthy charities and the stars who raised the money were very passionate about the charity they were representing.

I really didn’t even know that show was still on the air.

I don’t think that anyone who doesn’t know a public figure in real life can know for sure what they do in private. Apparently, Clay does drink sometimes and he’s been on meds for panic attacks, but on the surface it doesn’t look like he’s a candidate for Celebrity Rehab just yet. lol

It’s not just for his foundation, but clearly he’s hoping that the exposure from the show will help his singing/recording career, otherwise he wouldn’t have recorded a single for radioplay.

I agree know one knows what goes on behind closed doors. So how is it you then know Clay drinks??

It’s been reported by witnesses on fan boards. It’s no big deal. I doubt that he drinks a lot, but he does drink sometimes.

ETA: It’s possible that those reports are mistaken, and if so, then all we really know for sure is that he took a number of anti-anxiety meds for an undetermined duration of time.

Clay always wanted to compete on The Amazing Race, so I’m kinda surprised he chose Celebrity Apprentice.

  • Sally23

Glad to read that Clay will be on Celebrity Apprentice. Should be a fun show. Hope he earns lots of money for his foundation.
Was reading the comments about drinking. The guy must be in his 30s by now. Don’t see why anyone would fault him for having a drink once in a while.

ETA–Fuzzywuzzy, I watched the chat and don’t recall him saying anything about Celebrity Apprentice.

  • fuzzywuzzy

Sally, I’m refering to the part where he told the fans that his future recording and touring would depend on the song connecting on radio. Since Decca has little experience with radio promotion, Clay has had difficulty getting radioplay and the timing of the release is January (when CA starts), it’s obvious that Clay is hoping that his exposure on the show will help promote his song and career. Also, the new contest for fans to write a new bio for his fanclub site is designed to produce a bio for “new” people who will access the site (because of the CA).

Clay, watch out for Teresa Guidice, she’ll cut a bitch.

(I am using “cut a bitch” as a phrase, not calling Clay a bitch or any other contestant. Teresa has become the villain of her reality show for backstabbing her friends. Yes, I know..but it’s like circus television.)

    LOL disclaimer

If Clay can keep his tendency towards bitchy behavior under control he might be ok for awhile.

But that is the only thing that would make this horrible show even worth watching… sadly its just about when the celebrities loose it

  • Suzanne

In the old days (70s) fading celebrities would be on game shows to keep their faces on tv; now it’s reality shows.

Are there non-celebrity versions of The Apprentice?

He’s very quickwitted. If he doesn’t throw a tantrum about something, he’ll probably come across okay. I wonder if he has any business skills?

  • mmb

I suspect Clay will be terrific on CA ( which, yes I still watch from time to time, lol). He is still well-known, knows the reality competition show stuff, is a pretty good talker. Does he have the contacts to raise lots of $$ in the challenges? Because that is really what the show is about – who has the biggest Rolodex and can get their rich friends to cough up 5000 for a pizza or whatever. If he does I could see him going far on the show c anyway, win/ win for Clay IMO. He gets $$ for his charity and gets some needed tv exposure

  • stargazed

I think this is a brilliant move for Clay as it’s PR in a bottle. Clay gets some face time over a period of weeks and, at the same time, he brings in contributions to his beloved Foundation, The National Inclusion Project.

I can tell from reading comments from all over the boards that Clay still has the ability to create interest and Trump will like that as it’s PR for the show. Whether negative or positive, it doesn’t matter as Clay Aiken can still create a buzz.

Not to me! :) I say go for it! :)

I think Clay’s got the wherewithal to do well on this show. I watched it when cast catches my interest, like the Piers Morgan and the John Rich seasons. I am really looking forward to Clay’s participation. It should be a hoot when he gets snarky.
To answer a question, they had the last non-celeb Apprentice a couple of years ago. A woman was picked the winner, when the guy, who had a country accent, clearly should have IMO. Evidently it didn’t do too well in the ratings. CA is kind of ratings challenged too.
Puzzled about what kind of song will be released to promote the show, Clay or vice-versa.

I think it’s a smart move for Clay.  A great opportunity to win lots of money for his foundation.  And the media is still very interested in him.  It could gain him many new fans.  He’s a very intelligent guy and I wouldn’t be surprised if he wins the whole thing.  He’s been #2 for too long.  Go Clay.
