Carrie Underwood announced dates for her upcoming Blown Away headlining tour this morning while teasing additional international tour dates. Check out the full list of her 2012 headlining tour dates AND news about her recent Australia sales, after the jump!

This morning on Good Morning America Carrie announced that she’s headed out on the road on a fall headlining tour with up & comer Hunter Hayes as her opening act. The first leg of the tour has 54 arena dates, not including fair/festival and international dates this summer. Tickets go on sale to the general public on 5/11 or 5/18 depending on the show. Here’s the press release:
Superstar Carrie Underwood announced this morning during her appearance on “Good Morning America” to promote her new album, Blown Away, in stores today, that she will launch a headline North American arena tour this fall, “The Blown Away Tour.” The tour will also include an international run of shows this summer sponsored by Olay, including her first-ever United Kingdom concert taking place at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall in London on June 21, which sold-out in 90 minutes. Additional international concert dates will be announced soon.

The North American tour dates will be presented and hydrated by vitaminwater, sponsored by Olay, and promoted by AEG Live. Special guest Hunter Hayes will open. Tickets will be available for “The Blown Away Tour” beginning Friday, May 11. Please go to Carrie’s website for additional on sale information.

“I can’t wait to get back out on the road and perform new music from my new album for my fans,” says Carrie. “We have a lot of exciting things planned!”

Carrie is donating $1 from each ticket sold on the North American leg of “The Blown Away Tour” to support Red Cross disaster relief. Every year, the American Red Cross prepares for and responds to nearly 70,000 disasters across the United States. This donation will help the Red Cross provide shelter, food, and emotional support for those in need after a disaster. Proceeds from her Canadian concerts will be donated to the Canadian Red Cross.

Carrie’s two previous headline tours, 2008’s “Carnival Ride Tour” and 2010’s “Play On Tour,” performed for a combined total of nearly 250 shows with 2.2 million fans in attendance, and she wrapped both years as the top-ranked female country touring artist.

Meanwhile, CMC Australia (their country music TV channel) confirms that Carrie’s 3rd album Play On has “surpassed gold sales” in Australia. According to this in depth USA Today Carrie profile, Carrie will head to the UK and Australia in June.

    Go Carrie!

Meanwhile, CMC Australia (their country music TV channel) confirms that Carrie’s 3rd album Play On has “surpassed gold sales” in Australia.

Congrats to her!  That goes nicely with her certifications in Canada:

    3x platinum for Some Hearts
    Platinum for Play On

Not bad at all for a “regional” artist :p

Congrats on going gold in Australia, Carrie! Well done.

I can’t help but love Carrie. She has such an amazing voice and she hasn’t forgotten her roots. She works hard and deserves every ounce of her success.

And I totally get her desire to go international and expand her audience, which IMO explains a lot of the choices she made on her new album. I’m not quite loving all of those choices (please don’t throw tomatoes at me!), but kudos to her for going for it.

Was looking forward to Carrie’s tour schedule for the Fall. Happy for Hunter Hayes that he gets to open for her, it’s a great opportunity for him. I must admit I was hoping it would be Lauren Alaina. I’m kinda disappointed… Any chance of a 2nd opener?

There is twitter talk by those who thought they were in the know that it was going to be Lauren so they are still talking like she will be added but frankly if she would have to open for Hunter (which I think she would have to do given his rapidly rising star) I think it would be a step backwards for her. But as a fan of all three I would love that concert.

Excited for this news!  Am planning to see Carrie for the first time; I think adding Hunter is fantastic, he’s really popular right now & this is a good break for him.
