At least from these promos I am by far most excited for Nicki some of her comments to the contestants were really insightful and unique

Well, I watched the three videos, and saw three people with guitars in the auditions, two playing, one holding – I’ve seen auditioners who bring their guitar before, just to show they play one – never, except once (Phillip)  did I see the Special Snowflake allowed the advantage to play it.  Now I’ve seen two more. so I suppose that means a capella auditions are no longer the rule? I wish someone would ask.

When did Nigel mention that change – or did they just slide it in under the door – some special snowflakes get to play guitar in the previously a capella auditions to make sure they can stay on key? Is no one supposed to notice?

  • Garrett Clayman

i was wondering the same thing, the rules from this year clearly stated that you may bring an instrument with you but you may not play it. Maybe its a case of P^2 in which he sings and they vote and say sing something else because it was in this years audition rules

Good promos. I find it hilarious that Nicki will cause some people not to watch-there was nothing wrong with her on these previews and she seemed to give insightful critiques.

I also like the emphasis on how idol is the gold standard for singing shows. Ask somebody on the street, and they will know who somebody like Phillip Phillips or Scotty are. Almost nobody knows who Melanie Amaro, Javier Colon, or Jermaine Paul are.

very good promo! I like they emphasize that AI is unique; just the post-show tour makes it unique in the genre.
Can’t wait for the start of the season :)

Idol is the best show if you really want to make it BIG. The other shows like The X Factor, The Voice, just no.

about Special Snowflake: Poor Jason ‘Wolf’ Hamlin, but I remember this audition. The guy cut in Hollywood.

This was mentioned several times.  I wrote askfox@fox.com,  to suggest the emphasis on American Idol being the first and the best.  The show has provided success in many arenas of entertainment besides record sales.  We don’t see that success coming from the other shows.
