Sometimes the KISS principle works just great in videos. The song is smooth and his vocals are nice with a little bit of a signature sound .

I fell in love with Alex’s voice after he sang “Everybody Knows” and knew he’d make something of himself after he undeservedly got voted off so early on American Idol. I loved this song when I first heard the demo, and this is even better! Great video, Alex!!!!

  • sr4mjc

I still don’t get why this guy is getting these opportunities. meh on personality and voice.

  • gollymolly

I love the video I love the voice I love everything about this kid. Can’t wait until his album comes out because I’ll be the first in line to buy it. He’s the true success story of season 9. Way to go Alex keep up the good work!!!

  • Studio57

Love that voice! I think the material could be a little better, though, and the video is cute!

  • nabs

    simple sweet video!

  • Kitwana

I watched Alex’s video yesterday after downloading the Iheartradio app. My comment got buried in the headlines thread so I hope nobody minds if I repeat myself :)

Love the video by Alex Lambert. Very beautifully shot. The song itself seems like a reject from Michael Johns’ or Brooke White’s last album. This is not a bad thing except these two are 31 and 26 years old respectively and adult contemporary artists. Lambert is a very young 19. Interesting choice for a first single. Wonder what their strategy is?

I know Simon Fuller managed the Spice Girls so he clearly knows how to market young artists. However, that was in the 90’s. His work with Allison and now work with Alex really leads you to wonder if he still knows how to market young artists to a young audience. May explain the rapid aging of AI’s demo.

  • glamertitis

I really like this song and video. Nice job. The colour and scenery are beautiful and the natural people in the video fit perfectly!
What I like about Alex is that he has natural talent and he is modern

  • glamertitis

Does someone know who wrote this song? I thought Alex had.

  • wjmtv

The kid definitely has a nice sound. Clever concept on the video too. The song isn’t very hooky, maybe that’s why I liked it.

The cathedral was beautiful. I hope B of A forked over some dough for the product placement. ;)

  • janerazor

I think if Alex had not been voted off, last season would have been a lot more interesting…oh well, I love the song and the video. I’d love to hear this on the radio.

  • bjames

Why couldn’t someone like Tim Urban have a voice like this? Love this song, but bummed about his personality.

  • girlygirl

I still don’t know what the purpose of this video is. He’s not signed to any label yet, is he? Are they going to release this song to radio and to iTunes if he’s unsigned? Is this video really just an expensive demo to try and get someone to sign him? I know it has something to do with Clear Channel, but I still don’t get it — what is Alex hoping to get out of this?

He’s got a really nice voice. The song is meh. And he comes across as a kid whose head has gotten a little too big — he seemed a lot nicer and more humble before he got that IICD gig

  • tripp_ncwy

Does someone know who wrote this song? I thought Alex had.

“I Didn’t Know” was written by Adam Messinger, Nasri, Liz Rodregues and Alex Lambert, and was produced by Nasri.

Here is how this all came about.

    Wow,The Fuller press machine is going all-out- with Entertainment Tonight,and that’s likely,just the start…

  • glamertitis

Thank you tripp-ncwy… I thought it was a new song

  • lifeisgood

I really love his voice and I like this video concept – but I am not too interested in the song – kind of dull IMO.

I also have a hard time just liking him – after the peeing in the shampoo incident (I know he had pranks pulled on him too – but that was so disgusting). Also haven’t liked him in a couple of interviews.

But back again to his voice – it is actually one of my favorite voices I have ever heard on AI.

  • tessa

Alex seriously could have won season 9. Awesome voice. Very happy for him!

  • Suzanne

    Saw the video–

    voice–awesome. So inviting a voice.
song–pretty good but kinda AC only.
    hair–still no.
video concept–I heart NYC but I don’t get it. I guess He Didn’t Know in all five Burroughs?

So I watched the making of to figure out if there was more to the concept–a story? irony? insight? And of course–nope. It’s just that NYC is, I don’t know, identifiable? Cool to look at?

Why couldn’t someone like Tim Urban have a voice like this? Love this song, but bummed about his personality.

I know. He should just never be interviewed.

Alex seriously could have won season 9. Awesome voice. Very happy for him!

I think that is a bold statement, of course it is possible. The only songs he sang, were songs that suited him, still he was very pithy, all tho nice voice. My feeling is, he would have struggled more than most in the various theme weeks

How though? Nobody voted for him.

  • koshka

    ^^^^^ LOL

  • tessa

He’s got a unique catchy voice among the season 9 semifinalists, thus my statement that he could have won. Too bad he got voted off too early. He could have grown through each week and made it through the theme weeks by making each song his own with his unique tone. AI viewers love to see growth in the contestant. Alex would have exhibited that by gaining more confidence and allowing people to focus more on his talent as the weeks went by. The early boot has proven to be great for him nonetheless. He’s one of the few who don’t need to win to get a good career out of the whole experience.

  • koshka

He’s one of the few who don’t need to win to get a good career out of the whole experience.

He *might* have a good career. There are many, many artists that start out and don’t make it.. some having to do with talent, others timing, others star quality, etc.. One thing I will say is that all of the contestants need the win to assure the starts of a good career. Getting bummed at weeks 12-2 gives some good exposure, but not the benefit of the win.

  • PeteLovesMeganJoy

I think Alex is such a great singer! I hope he goes far. If I Can Dream has really helped him in music too. I love the video too!

  • Dlynne

    This.

My favorite part is when he’s playing in Times Square. He had a nice crowd, too.

I didn’t like the song that much on first listen. But now, after hearing it a few more times? I cannot wait for it to go to iTunes!

  • jaybee

I don’t know if Alex got enough votes that infamous night or not. There was a Digital Spy article the first few days in April, that showed 1.6 million screens tuning into IICD,the night Alex moved in to the Dream House-and,since some share a screen, that might up it to 3 million viewers,or more-unheard of for a brand new internet only-based show.I love the kids from AI9,but c’mon,NONE from that semifinal group(Aaron,Lacey,Lee,Paige,Lily,Mike,ETC.) would have drawn more than 100k viewers, likely, far less.Producer Fix has been suggested numerous times on chat boards for Alex that I have seen. Its a little too convenient when 19 was desperate to raise the viewership of their struggling new show-IICD.

  • JoCeeisme

His voice isn’t too bad but not liking the song much. And, wow someone in that video is in dire need of a good bra, lol!

  • sallysimmons

He’s the true success story of season 9.

lol. I think it’s a little too early to say that since no one else has even put anything out yet. He got voted out really early and went on a much cheesier reality TV show. From that he’s recorded a song and a very low budget video. We’ll see how successful he is when the sales start trickling in.

I actually like his voice a lot, although I find the song very bland. I just think it takes a lot to make an impression in this day and age, and I doubt this is the song, or video, that will do it for Alex. Still, love his voice, so I wish him well.

  • Ashley

    I like it.
