Two completely differing tones. WWFM is far simpler concept song that doesn’t really need to be flashy. No reason why the two would be even close in presentation.

This performance looks to do what Adam said all of his perfomances would do, and that is reflect the nature of the lyrics of the song. I love seeing the stripped-down Adam, sad, lonely, and vulnerable…..and still oh so sexy. I think it is very appealing. The video looks to be a winner all the way around.

If you watched Adam on Idol you would see that he likes to change things up. I would have been very surprised if he went OTT for this music video. It just wouldn’t make sense. That is what I love about Adam. He can go crazy on stage or just sit there and be emotional. He has it all IMO.

In reference to them scaling back financially, the only reason for that would be that this is more scaled back because of the song itself. I highly doubt that they did it on purpose to save money.

He looks absolutely gorgeous. And so SAD!! I want to just hug him. OMG…I can’t wait till Friday.

Yeah, this is more my speed – but then again I like the song a lot better, too. And this song is the biggest damn earworm, it came on in the car on my iPod and now we have me, my 6 yr old, and my 4 yr randomly bursting out into singing it. Heh.

Maybe the rest of the video will have more to it visually, but right now to quote Heidi Klum “looks cheap, no?”

MJ, I saw a banner during Fantasia’s reality show last night. It had Adam’s face, Fri Video Premiere, the song title, and then flashed: “Top of Every Hour,” so I believe it will be shown more than once like I had written before in the last post about his MV for WWFM.
around 6:00am, 7am (all Eastern times), 8am, 9am, and perhaps 9:59am –VH1 runs their Jumpstart block until 11am est.

To googletot: I wonder the same thing about do these videos get sold. I used to watch VH-1, as well as MTV but no longer get much TV time in my house with 3 boys. How else do these videos get out there?

The lyrics to WWFM are quite a bit “tamer” than FYE. Adam always matches his choreography to the lyrics.

I personally don’t think budget was an issue….This was a much more simple song and the staging required more understated staging. Tamer to use your words. And it is only 20 sec so the money could be used in the other 3:27 left in the song – LOL

Okay, now I really, really want to see him act in something. Anything. Cameo, main character, supporting actor, I don’t care. Musical theater is theater as much as it is musical, and his earlier twitter that he would need serious acting lessons…um, I don’t think so. He is a really quick study (look at how quickly he is learning the part of suddenly-thrown-into-the-public-eye celebrity) and I just want to see him in front of a camera NOW.

Music videos get lots of views online. Look up any of the current radio hits on YouTube, and you’ll see that they usually have over 1 million views. Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” has 72 million views.

Anyway I love the two snippets and am so intrigued now for the whole video.

interesting that the second snippet seems to be implying both whataya want from me to a lover, and to the entertainment industry/fans, with the paps shooting photos of him thru a limo window and the scene in what almost looks like an office. He has said in numerous interviews, including Fuse most recently, that the song took on a second meaning for him after the AMAs. Interesting choice. Provides a cool subtext that doesn’t necessarily have to refer to the AMAs, but also doesn’t totally let it drop…love adam!

It’s just a stereotypical hipster pad. But I agree, it all looks and sounds good. But I thought the FYE vid was very good, too. Doesn’t hurt that Adam’s an actor as well as a singer. It’ll be interesting to see what opportunities pop up for him.

I love WWFM but it was not my very favorite on the album. After hearing him sing it live and now with this video I can’t get it out of my head. The same with the live version of Sleepwalker at Gridlock. I hope Adam gets the opportunity to do more videos, he was made for them.

This MV looks really good. I’m looking forward to seeing the whole version. I think this MV is a nice contrast to the FYE vid.

I love what I see in the video snippets-it shows Adam as person and as the performer. He looks wonderful. I love how Adam looked in his audition and that first impression was wonderful. He is so sweet and so very talented and we love the guy-God bless him.

I knew he was going to be okay! Even after the AMA’s, I was optimistic – even tho I do have to admit I got a little worried after a while – it was worse than I wish it had been. BUT, he’s like a cat with 9 lives, he’s gonna land flat on his feet, cause you know what? This cat knows what’s up! And That’s why he has transformed this older woman from a non-TV watching book-reader into a die-hard Glambert fan! As far as I’m concerned, he is the Elvis of my generation. Elvis was an older man before I came along – he died when I was 7, I’ll never forget it! But, I missed out on the excitement & glamour of his career. Adam is my Elvis!

Jabbawockeez is an all-male dance group that won the 1st America’s Best Dance Crew competition on MTV. I believe Randy Jackson created this show. They are absolutely amazing. You should go check out some of their youtube performances. Incredible stuff. I saw the poster online advertising them and Kris Allen, but didn’t see anything with Adam’s name on it. Who knows? Maybe it’s not true or tickets aren’t selling well enough. There are 2 concerts planned though. Approximately 50,000 tickets available or something such.

The video looks very promising, if somewhat traditional “oh look how beautiful and emotional” everything looks. Also, now I’m afraid that I have been over estimating Adam’s acting skills. We’ll see.

But the video looks pretty and easy to digest by the general audience, which was probably their aim. Personally I would love a scary conceptual video like GaGa’s Bad Romance, but that might be too scary for the regular viewer.

Honestly, who has such a perfect nose???? Can I be jealous of a man I find attractive?? I’ll go contemplate on that for a while…

Someone earlier asked what Drake would think. Why is the camera Drake? It could be but it could also be his friends, family, fans, even himself. It,s up to the viewer to decide which is pretty cool I think.

lorismlie- it was me who mentioned Drake.

Obviously, artistically speaking, it could be many people- but, there’s no doubt part of it is through a lover’s eyes -Adam even said so, and you can see the the arguments in the preview sneaks, “lovers’ tiffs” amidst all the media frenzy- and what other lover has he been with while dealing with the media? And what other lover has he broken up with because he just didn’t have time to handle a relationship? And I’m concluding this from things he’s said himself in interviews, not even mentioning the gossip about public fights etc…
And so, I, personally, I find it hard not to think about Drake when seeing this (just like I find it hard not to think about him when Adam sings “yeah I know my life has changed, but honestly I don’t know if we’ll survive” in A Loaded Smile…)

But of course, it’s just an opinion…

He connects so well with this song because all of these things relate to his life right now. Drake, relationships, fans, media, AMA’s….I think it’s all going through his mind and will come out in the video in one form or another. I think we’re in for a really good one here….really good.

Not much…I just logged in and it is #125 deluxe and#189 for regular…doesn’t seem to have gotten much boost…the deluxe has generally been bopping around between the 120s and 140s and the regular between the 170s and low 200s for the past 2/3 weeks. Kris on the other hand got a big bump on his regular album (probably from seeing his face in the background during every audition last night; and the ford commercial)….altho my guess is that adam will still have sold slightly more total itunes album downloads by virtue of having 2 entries in the top 200

I like this intimate and stripped down feel to this video. He looks great on the couch. Very clean and polished and yet still Adam. Although, I still do like the contrast of him in the suit and spiked hair. I had a hard time being a fan of his during the AMA outlash. but this video/song reminds me of why I fell in love with him in the first place.

Adam was just nominated for outstanding musical artist for his album by GLAAD (see the thread mj posted)- that will bring more focus to his album, along with his being on Oprah, the MV for WWFM, the climbing up the radio charts with WWFM.

LOL – you’re right – I don’t wish any ill will toward Kris (good for him) – I think I just had a twinge of “Damn, if Adam had won…” going through my head last night (since Kris was obvs. getting the typical winner’s treatment with the banner stuff). And tbh, I think TPTB figured placing him prominently on the back banner may have had to do with helping him with name/face recognition, esp. since Adam so overshadowed him with the general public post-AI (to the point of me meeting AI fans over the fall who were like, oh, wait – who won?)

I think the minimalist approach can be brilliant. My best example is Single Ladies – I can’t imagine that cost that much (other than the talent of, say, the choreographer, etc.) – it was so minimalist, yet effing brilliant. It definitely works well, and WWFM really lends itself well to that too.

The most expensive element to a video is the production team, which includes everyone from the lighting technicians to the director. Extras cost very little (unless ofcourse you have 1,000s of them and then well it can be pricey). Moving from location to location can add alot to the production costs as well. All the equipment has to be moved, set up, tested, the video shot, equipment broken down and packed up and then moved to the next location where it’s done all over again. Simply because a video may seem “simple” and “minimalistic” doesn’t neccesarily equate to “lower budget”.

LOL – no problem! I agree with your assessment about what can make a vid more expensive. Definitely a good point about how even “simple” looking MV’s can actually be deceptively costly (again, I’ll bring up Single Ladies – who knows how much that choreographer and the backup dancers cost?)

The MV looks scrumptious! Judging from the snippets it looks like he has some acting chops too.

Oh, yeah – ITA – and I knew Kris would be on the banner. Though, again, I still find it odd that it was only him and David – just don’t understand why they wouldn’t have everyone on there, like they usually do (but it looks like in other cities they have the more traditional banner in the background).

BTW – the album is in the 20′s on Amazon – and I tend to think of that as a better measure than itunes, considering the small number of album downloads on itunes, plus the fact that Adam’s chart position is deceptive on itunes since it’s technically split over 2 albums.

One of the most intense and soul touching moments of this video (so far) is him sitting in the drivers seat (lightning flashes) he looks worried, sad, confused in his romantic elvis esque sillouette. Then he thinks of you (the passenger) and turns towards you in quiet doubt (still hiding his fears deep within) then lightning strikes it’s light revealing his vulnerable pain, hope and love.

It would be really odd if Kris didn’t get a big boost from AI9 since his face (on the banner) is on view almost the entire show. You can’t watch any of the contestants without seeing Kris in the background. This is huge publicity.
To keep this on topic – I’m loving what I see of the MV so far. How gorgeous can he be?
