Adam Lambert’s Glam Nation tour rolls into the The F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts in Wilkes-Barre tonight for the very first concert of his North American tour.

Allison Iraheta and Orianthi are tonight’s openers.

Before you settle in for the concert, say hello to Adamland

She’ll be helping to maintain the Adam tour threads as his tour makes its way across America and beyond in the coming months.

Adamland will be posting photos, videos, links to twitter feeds and live streams–all that fun stuff.  A big thank-you to her for volunteering!

See you later!

Add me to the column of those who don’t believe Adam’s half-assing anything. In fact, write me down for believing he doesn’t even know how.

I would have to agree with this 100%. Adam is a perfectionist- we have seen that time and again. I don’t think he could even “half-ass” a performance if he tried to.

lorenzo– Like you, I love it when he does his thang. I get what you’re saying. But you may find that Adam may start pushing the envelope more as he gets more of a feel of what his vocal chords can tolerate night after night after night. In his blog post on VH1, he referred to many of his songs as “VERY vocally strenuous” and I believe him on that, so it is smart for him to pace himself somewhat at the very front end of the tour. Last thing he wants at this stage of the game is to blow out his voice.

I’m sure everyone has probably moved to the new thread by now, but I just wanted to thank lorismile, luval, kittensmittens, aislinn, and mmm222 for the recaps from last night’s show. It’s was great to hear your fantastic reports!

Sebasitan Bach who sang in Skid Row did that every single night.. and the dude doesn’t know a thing…zero zilch about music theory… he sang Broadway and of course had the part where he screamed his face off eight shows a week! NEVER had a problem…

I went to youtube to listen to your examples – if you want to use someone as an example of singing like Adam does, but on JCS, check out Steve Balsamo. Sebastian does exactly what you say – he screams his face off. That’s using the vocal cords in a completely different way from projecting something out on pitch, using a pharyngeal voice. If you listen to Sebastian over time, you can hear the gradual decline in his vocal quality. He can’t hit the notes anymore, and at least one of the examples of him singing in JCS is really quite awful – it sure sounds to me like he’s done damage to those cords. Your example of the guy from Steelheart is closer to Adam’s vocal technique, but I’d be curious if he really does still sound today like he did in 1990. The other thing is, it’s not just the notes you sing, but the combination – what comes immediately before and after, how long you have to sustain the note. All of that has an impact on how easy or difficult it is to achieve. If Adam wants to not only be able to belt out notes like he did on Born to be Wild, but also be able to sing the glorious pianissimo notes he sings in something like Soaked or Broken Open, then he’s better off following the vocal techniques he’s been taught, and paying attention to how his throat feels.

the new stuff.. but that stuff is not even in the league/park…universe as Ring of Fire, Feeling good..etc and those songs are old enough to make his own and he blew the worlds mind when he performed them.. He is my all time favorite singer by a mile, but I really don’t like several of the new songs.. I like them..not love, but they’re sung so average, and I expect so much more from Adam with that talent… while he still has the pipes…use them!

Lorenzo….I completely agree….I’m patiently waiting for him to get his ‘now’ stuff out of his system and then move forward!!!!!
