Here’s an interesting interview with Season 5 Idol, Ace Young, who is currently starring in the Broadway production of Hair with Diana DeGarmo.

He announces that he broke off his engagement to Allison Fischer, whom he met during a stint playing Kinickie on Broadway’s Grease. Then he lets the female DJ feel him up. Hm.

Ace and Allison broke up 2 1/2 months ago, with their June wedding all set and ready to go…

What a flirt! I’ve never listened to interviews with Ace before…he’s quite hot I must say. Love his eyes and the way he stares at her. :)

  • bridgeymah

He stares at everyone he talks to that way – at least if you are female… and yes he is a huge flirt and no where near a clean cut as his idol run painted him to be.

  • jinxx315

He is very sexy. Too bad he lefter her to get engaged to me. Oh…I’m dreaming lol.

  • jpfan

The backstage gossip during S5 was that Ace was a huge womanizer. And then he got engaged to a nice young girl and I thought the gossip was bs. But from this interview….I guess the gossip was 100% correct.

  • sonyab

Oh my!!! Ace you are bad. :) To bad that Ace and his fiance broke up. :(

  • Laurie

I sort of liked this guy, until this interview. He is so unprofessional and kind of skeevy. I’ll show you my silver tower? Nobody does me like Sara Lee? To a person interviewing him? That’s just really cringe – worthy. Who was the jerk egging him on in the background?

  • chjohnson34

As Laurie said above, that really was cringe-worthy. I guess he realized that would be put up for ppl to see. I agree he is hot but so is David Cook as far as idol men go but you don’t see him acting like this. I thought Ace was very professional when he was doing Idol Extra but he really took the innuendos a little too far.

  • tinawina

He didn’t really skeeve me out. He’s just a flirt. The girl clearly loved every minute of it. LOL.

Ace is a hottie. But he never did anything for me. Oh well.

  • CSFan

The DJ starts out all flirty about the nude scene. Seems Ace read her and gave her the interview she was seeking.

I saw the Idol gives Back video mj posted a couple days ago. If Ace&Diana aren’t together already they should be. She’s another one like Ace who isn’t the same as her idol image. They are really flirty and fun together.

I should hope not! She was 16 on the show and is almost 23 now. It would be very strange if she hadn’t changed.

I thought the interview was just in good fun. The interviewer went right for the “are you nude in Hair” question so I think Ace just followed her lead and played along.

Yeah no kidding! Of course she is gonna change! She is getting older now.

  • BootStar

He’s fantastic looking, but what a ginormous sleazebag! I feel sorry for his ex-fiance. I don’t think he sounds like he was very trustworthy to begin with. I think he may have a future in porn flicks however, since he’s so uninhibited and is comfortable inviting complete strangers to stroke him. Ewww!

  • cher

It’s better that they broke off before getting married or that would have been another divorce statistic in the making. He’s good-looking so I guess girls are always chasing him and it went to his head. Not my type, but good eye candy for sure.

  • Teenytiny7

Well, if Ace is a womanizer, that’s probably a good reason why he and Diana are not together. I really don’t see why everyone thought Ace was that clean cut on Idol. It comes as no surprise to me that he is like this in interviews. It’s probably good that he broke up with his fiancee before the wedding. He seems to like being single, which is fine.

CSfan: I wouldn’t say Diana is nothing like her Idol image. She’s just an adult version of that person. She does a lot of adult roles in theater but I’ve read a number of interviews of hers on here over the years and she still seems sweet and clean cut. By that, I mean pretty PG.

I agree about David. I will add Jason Castro to that. I think he is a good-looking guy, too, but does not act like this. I have liked Ace from his days on Idol and help run a fan site for him; but lately he has proven to be a disappointment to me as far as talk and benavior. He said once that he learned things from his brothers. And I understand even his married brothers were flirty with the women at a homecoming party for him in Denver. I hope they are proud of how they have helped shape him. At least I have the pleasant memories of him on Idol and his work with Highrollers with Heart. I do not care at all for him this way, and most likely his then-fiancee didn’t, either.

  • Daytripper73

In Ace’s defense, being a flirt doesn’t make you a cheater. If a female interviewer flirts with him, he appears to flirt right back. If they don’t flirt with him, he doesn’t flirt with them. To me it seems all in fun. He’s a normal single 29 year old man. He’s not a monk and doesn’t belong on a pedestal.

Well, if Ace is a womanizer, that’s probably a good reason why he and Diana are not together.

Hypothetically, IF they got together I wouldn’t be at all concerned about Diana. First, it’s clear Ace respects and adores her (as a friend). Second…Diana would cut his balls off. For real. And I’m sure he knows it. She’s not a weak little woman who would take being treated poorly by her boyfriend/fiancee/husband.

    He’s ugly

;( @ his wedding being canceled

  • shenanigan

Watching the interview I wondered if he wasn’t still partially in character. His part in “Hair” is of a totally sexually uninhibited young man who makes other people feel uncomfortable by breaking all the social rules, breaking the 4th wall, coming into the audience, sitting on people’s laps, generally “freaking out the squares”, being aggressively free. I sort of like it, actually, it is fun.

  • hypnoticwhisper

I don’t have anything against flirts, his personality in that video reminds me a lot like one of my friends. HOWEVER, this is an interview! He doesn’t have to act that way on camera…and also he was contributing to Idol Gives Back. I don’t think it was appropriate at that time.

    TMI.

  • Niall

I’m going to assume many of the people who are taken aback by Ace have never seen “Hair.” He’s partially in character as Berger, as shenanigan astutely pointed out above.

Exactly. I don’t think it has anything to do with idol image vs. post idol image. This was supposed to be for charity and representing idol. Ace does comes of as sleazy here imo.

  • sr4mjc

I wondered if he could pull off the role of Berger and now I see that he can!
