Song Spoilers for Tonight

Grace Davies, Kevin Davy White, Rak-Su, The Cutkelvins and Lloyd Macey are fighting for the three places in next weekend’s final. Ed Sheeran is tonight’s musical guest. It’s the ‘Final Countdown’. Oh yeah.

The judges are already seated.

Lloyd Macey – Fix You (Coldplay)
Lloyd opened Little Mix’s concert in Manchester this week. We see footage from the event in his VT. Lloyd had a great time.
Lloyd still sounds a bit sick, but not as bad as last night. He is giving ‘Fix You’ a beautiful AC ballad treatment. He gets a choir with lights. He gets a standing ovation from all 4 judges.
Simon calls the performance ‘annoyingly brilliant’. He says the performance reminded him of Christmas and predicts this performance should get him to the final. Nicole says he has a beautiful voice, but he is up against so many great artists.
Sharon praises the song choice and says it was a well-done, great performance. Louis praises his voice and attitude. Both Sharon and Louis ask the viewers to vote for him.

Rak-Su – I’m Feeling You (Rak-Su)
They are singing their audition song tonight. In their VT, they make fun of their early beginnings and appearances. They think their audition song will change their lives.
It’s a standard Rak-Su performance with rapping and singing. They have a car with Rak-Su license plates on stage. They manage to create a great atmosphere every time they perform.
Louis recalls their auditions and all their potential. Sharon says everything they do is brilliant. Nicole says it was a great performance, but not their best. Simon says this was an outstanding performance and says that the purpose of these shows is to find artists like them.

Dermot is in the company of the contestants and he reveals that the battle busses are ready.

The Cutkelvins – Show Me Love (Robin S.)
In their VT, we see them rehearse their song. The contestants and Simon reveal their musical favorites and guilty pleasures.
There are no DJ booths on stage tonight, the brothers are on stage behind their sister. Shareen does most of the singing, her brothers sing back-up and rap. I’m not sure this song choice will motivate many people to vote for them, but who knows?
Louis says they get better every week and says this is their best performance by a mile. He asks Scotland to vote if they want time here next week. Sharon also praises them and hopes they are here next week. Nicole praises the song choice, but doesn’t know if it was enough to keep them here. Simon says he didn’t like the production behind them (dancers). He calls them ‘underdogs’, but says they have fans and asks people to vote for them.

Kevin Davy White – Voodoo Child (Slight Return) (Jimi Hendrix)
We see Kevin play electric guitar in an abandoned warehouse. He explains how he started singing and playing guitar. He says this song was the first one he learned playing on his guitar.
So, he is again playing electric guitar tonight and he has a band on stage. It’s like we are at Kevin’s concert – like Rak-Su, he doesn’t seem to be a contestant on a talent show.
Louis calls him ‘real’ and says Jimi Hendrix song worked on the X Factor. Sharon is stunned to see him evolve in an artist that he is. Simon calls the performance ‘incredible’ and Kevin an original artist. Nicole says he set the stage on fire and calls him the Muhammad Ali of this competition.

Dermot interviews Ed Sheeran and he has some advice for the singer-songwriters. He tells them to write a song every day.

Grace Davies – Wolves (Grace Davies)
Grace used to train ballet in her childhood. She says her song tonight is about her X Factor journey.
Grace also gets a band on stage tonight. Unlike last night, she sounds pretty good tonight. For the most part. Her voice still cracks a few times. I could totally see a song like ‘Wolves’ being released as a single. It’s a very current sounding pop song.
Simon says her performance was like a returning artist performing a hit record. He says she deserves to be here next week. Nicole says the song sounded like a cross between ‘Rolling in the Deep’ and ‘Counting Stars’. Louis says she has to be in the final. Sharon says the song is a hit single and says she takes her breath away. Grace promises to sing ‘Roots’ next weekend in the final if she gets through tonight.

The voting is now open. It’s going to be open for approximately 15 minutes. Dermot recites the instructions. Recap follows.

We are back and it’s time for the musical guest of the night – Ed Sheeran. He is performing his current single ‘Perfect’. He broke his arms recently, but I guess he is now well enough to play guitar. Ed isn’t much of a singer, but he sure knows how to write a song. He threatened the world this past week with a special remix that would ‘despacito’ the song. We can only guess who would be the featured artist. Taylor Swift? Adele?
